"Burrito King is the follow-up spot from the Dos Reales crew, and it's home on Green St. has some of the best queso we've ever had. Students flock to both DR and BK for their strong margaritas, giant plates of Mexican food, and that delicious queso. Hit it up with a large group, especially for a birthday when you can get sombreros, mariachi, and tequila involved. Also, queso. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

During our routine breakfast outing, we chanced upon Burrito King Mexican Grill. Why not give this novel eatery a try? Upon entering, we received a warm welcome. The atmosphere was bright and cheerful, filled with the savory aromas of Mexican cuisine. I eagerly anticipated savoring the dishes. I shared with my husband my expectation that the food would be as delectable as it smelled. As we examined the menu, we sought recommendations from the staff. They proposed one of their popular dishes, the Quesabirra's, a unique taco featuring cheese and meat stew dip. The meat in the tacos was exceptionally tender and juicy. The juice served on the side contained tender pieces of meat, adding to the overall delight. We also ordered the steak green chilaquiles. Although intended for my husband, the dish proved too spicy for his liking. We ended up swapping plates. Not a problem we still enjoyed our food. As someone who appreciates spicy food, I found it ideal. For those who may be sensitive to spicy dishes, it's prudent to request a sample of the green salsa on a chip before ordering. While waiting for our order, we were treated to complimentary chips and salsa. The red salsa was outstanding, and I requested a container to take the leftover salsa home for my morning eggs. If you're in the vicinity, I strongly recommend visiting Burrito King Mexican Grill. You'll be pleased with the experience. I look forward to returning to sample more of their menu offerings.

Google
We used Burrito King for our wedding and they were incredible!!! The communication was clear and extremely fast. The service the day of was amazing, super warm and yummy. They even delivered chips and salsa to each table and all of the guests were so excited. I’d recommend them to anyone needing food for an event!!

This is a review for the new location on West marketview Dr, next to Buffalo wild wings. Wonderful food and atmosphere. The guys working were awesome to talk to. Highly recommend stopping by if you get a hankering for authentic Mexican food.

Google
The torta al pastor here is really good—definitely worth a try if you’re into that. Overall, a solid spot. Not the best I’ve had, but still a satisfying meal.

Google
I ordered off of doordash and I was hoping for huge portions because I ordered 2 king Nachos. And I opened my Styrofoam plate and what I saw was mostly vegetables and not much meat. It's good, but add a lot more portions. $39.

Google
Delicious food we order tacos to eat here and it’s our first time in champagne so we decide to give it a try and i would say delicious! Definitely recommend trying authentic Mexican food. We enjoyed the tacos so much that we even ordered some to go. We had steak pastor chorizo all were very good. Oh and the salsa red authentic and super spicy the green was flavorful and definitely mild and delicious!

I got the steak nachos and they were delicious and I would definitely get them again. The staff were wonderful and polite would definitely come back.

Google
As a Mexican, this place made me really sad. All I wanted was a taste from home, and even when given the option for the Mexican version, it’s still not real Mexican cuisine. Today I had the unfortunate pleasure of trying the Elote, which I thought, you can’t go wrong with it, I even asked what was on it. Seemed normal. Why did it taste like someone’s grandmas chili? 😔 an esquite is not that hard to make yet they still found a way to make it terrible 😔it was so soupy I thought I was eating white queso sauce from chipotle😔 it felt actually so disrespectful to be served this as a Mexican. The atmosphere and the people are perfect. But the food NEEDS to change, please go back to your roots and stop trying to make it palatable to whatever demographic you were going for 😔good food but not authentic mex😔😔

Yelp
The service at this burrito king was unbeatable. They were very considerate and made the whole experience so enjoyable. My burrito was delicious, it had a perfect balance of ingredients and the tortilla was very yummy. The inside of the burrito king was small but nicely decorated, and it was fun to watch them restock the horchatas.

Paula K.

Yelp
It was cold in the restaurant so we ended up taking most of both our meals home to eat. Our food was luke warm, not hot at all. Only one waitress who was trying her best. Food was better before. I miss the booths. Bathroom was nice and it was warm in there. It was better before it closed. We will still try them again but not during winter.

Runzer W.

Yelp
Had three tacos on Taco Tuesday! I ordered two Mexican style and one American style. All were good! And the serving people were so nice and friendly. That made my day!

Yelp
BURRITO KING HAS GONE DOWNHILL. I ate here for the first time in a few years. Instant regret. Remember the huge burritos covered in cheese and served in a styrofoam to go container with chips, salsa, corn, and refried beans? Not anymore! My burrito was mostly rice with a small amount of pork and one tiny piece of cheese. No chips & salsa, no corn, no beans, no satisfaction. Oh, and the prices have gone up. I used to love getting a Burrito King but can certainly say I will now be getting Chipotle for a much better burrito at the same price point.

Harold K.

Yelp
Ordered lunch: burrito prince - pastor. It was just ok, not the greatest. And it was $11! (So not worth it) That and horchada totaled just over $15?!?! And was given ONLY 2 little sauces for an entire burrito??? I can use 2 of those little sauces on 1/2 of it alone. 1st time here and last time.

Minhye P.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE FAST FOOD PLACE. Service is GREAT, their service is super fast, and their food is heavenly (especially post party). They have incredible patience dealing with so many drunk people and they're very social:))

Alejandro S.

Yelp
They gave me the food cold and I was missing part of my order. When I told them about it they were rude and unhelpful.

Ryan K.

Yelp
This is the worst burrito I've ever had. The worst. And I repeat myself once more. The burrito king from burrito king is the single worst burrito I have ever had. No flavor whatsoever. It's shit. No other way to put it. I'm not even unsatisfied. I'm embarrassed for the owner. Jesus Christ this was awful. Please add seasoning to something. 0/5 stars.

Jeff D.

Yelp
Burrito King is exactly what I look for in a college town Mexican restaurant -- solid food, low prices, and open late. The restaurant is often packed late at night, as people are headed home (from a long night out... I mean studying) and stopping for food is a big priority. As a result, it can be hard to grab a table inside (there's not a ton of indoor seating, especially as of my last visit in May 2021), but most folks are just picking up takeout. You'll find everything you look for in a standard Mexican restaurant menu, and they offer a solid selection of options in general. The costs are reasonable and you get a good amount of food for the price too! Overall, I'd recommend getting a Burrito or a few tacos -- getting Tacos really lets you get a good sample for the various meat options they have, but the burrito is massive.

Darius E.

Yelp
Horrible place I ordered $40 worth of food but never received it and I didn't get a refund at all. They will take your order and money and then all of a sudden say They're closed. Unprofessional people I'm amazed at how they are still open

Joshua K.

Yelp
It tasted good to got the steak burrito from a vendor truck in hoopeston il.. but you gotta make sure you ask them to cook the steak or they give it to you raw or at least mine wasn't cooked at all...

Christopher V.

Yelp
This place has definitely taken a hit in quality since Covid. They longer give you complimentary chips and the food just doesn't taste as fresh anymore. The prices have also increased tremendously, which makes me think twice about going here compared to the many great options on Green St.

LingXi S.

Yelp
Good burrito, i love buritto, and no rice no bean,no sour cream is a good choice.i will try other things next time

Allie J.

Yelp
When they get the order right the nachos are delicious. Not a fan of the quesadillas or the salsa. The inside is very small, not a ton of seating, but some. They are open late which is great for weekends and they have a couple food trucks around the area usually too. Always a short wait.

Dana B.

Yelp
Great for a late night bite. The nachos and quesadillas are amazing!! I will be returning.

Posy K.

Yelp
Their lunch burrito cheese steak is delicious and comes with many things! The lady working is very nice and friendly as well.

Diana D.

Yelp
Tacos were really good. 2/3 taco containers didn't have limes, we had to ask for more. Horchata is stored in the fridge which is nice since ice waters it down. Our order was messed up but it was during a rush and there was no problem fixing it. Staff was very friendly!

John W.

Yelp
Just moved my daughter into her apartment for her grad program and wanted something for lunch. Their burritos are so tasty and I love their salsa and guacamole! There are many choices on the menu. I'm not sure if the people working there are the owners, but they're super friendly. I'll definitely go again!

Yelp
My family eats a lot of Mexican food and have tried just about every Mexican option in C-U. This was the first time I've had Burrito King. I'm giving 2 stars because the service was good enough (carry out order) and the portions are very large. This is by far the most Midwestern Mexican restaurant I've ever had. I love spicy food and this is the opposite of that. It's very basic and the sauces taste no better than a canned enchilada sauce you can buy at the store. If you don't like much Mexican flavor, this is the place for you. I ordered for four people. I had a fajita chimichanga with shrimp as the meat choice. There were very few shrimp and it was stuffed with way more green peppers and onions. My son had a taco and enchilada combo. He asked if they used some kind of ' blanding agent' to,flavor the dish. Lol! Well, we are full but not very impressed.

T. W.

Yelp
Got food from the taco truck on Main Street Saturday night it tasted old and inedible. Torta was deconstructed with barely any morsel of meat . Was hoping to give the truck a chance since my favorite taco truck Fernando's was closed. But never again I will stick with what I know not worth the money I threw it directly I the trash

Jeff T.

Yelp
Got a Mexican spicy pork burrito with easy lettuce and it was awesome. Cashier was a courteous and cute Latina woman. Charismatic and curvy. Lol. Yes the location is la late campus joint so it looks like it. Food was great.

Emily C.

Yelp
Go when students aren't in town and eat all the foods. Salsa and chips are solid. Lunch specials are only $7 and you get so much food. Bonus: ask for their hot sauces. There's a green and red one and they are both amazing. I get the King Nachos with chicken for $8.50 and they are huuuuuge and deliciouuuuuss.

Skylar A.

Yelp
You can walk in and order your food to go which is super convenient. I know a lot of places don't have their lobbies open. The women working the front was very nice and the food portions are amazing. Love the food and the huge burrito I got!

Jae T.

Yelp
HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!! Customer Service! THIRD TIME I put in an online order. Got there close to HOUR AFTER I PUT IT IN AND STILL HAD TO WAIT! There was no one in there & both the cook and waitress were sittin down when I walked in!! It's Official!!! I'm DONE with Burrito King!! I asked the waitress why I do you have to wait after you put in order ONLINE darn near an hour prior...of course no plausible reason, if at all. It is clear that they cater to college students because adults are not there fortay when dealing with the public or having your food ready ON TIME. So Sad.

Alex C.

Yelp
Gave Burrito King a second chance after my very lackluster experience a few semesters ago and they definitely improved! We came in at about 1:30 on Thursday, for a belated Cinco de Mayo/after hitting the bars late night bite. They took our order and we waited about 10 minutes. The ordering is kind of weird, there isn't a counter or anything, you just walk up to the cashier face to face and tell her your order. I got a pastor burrito and my girlfriend got a chicken quesadilla. My burrito was pretty big, the pastor tasted good and it also came with tomatoes, sour cream and corn on the side. It was also smothered in a cheese sauce which I didn't expect but added an unexpectedly good taste to the whole thing. The pastor was tasty and seemed to be of decent quality. Overall the burrito was surprisingly good. The only complaint was that I added avocado to it for an upcharge and I think they used a guacamole spread instead, not a big deal. My girlfriend said her chicken quesadilla was good too. Our meal was around $18 for two people, it was a good amount of food for the price but it seems like the cost of all food is going up, $7 is approaching Chipotle level prices. Overall a good experience here, it seems like their late night options (burritos, tacos, quesadillas) are the way to go, I would avoid the more "entrée" type items availiable earlier in the day.

Yelp
I ordered this on a whim and recommendation. I was at work and very hungry. So I ordered the King Burrito expecting a large burrito. When it got there and I saw it, it was a magnificent work of art. A huge, beautifully crafted piece. I ate a corner of this burrito before taking it home and giving the majority to my very hungry boyfriend. Burrito King knows what it's doing. And even though I ordered a 10 dollar burrito that ended up being 17 dollars after tax and delivery fee, it was well worth it. The taste of the burrito is pretty darn good. I got the pastor (spicy pork) and it wasn't spicy at all. That was a tad ddisappointing. It was more like a pork that had spices introduced to it. But it was still very flavorful and tasty. Also, free fresh fried tortilla chips and salsa. Great place to get a bite!

Nick M.

Yelp
Shit quality for a shit price. This food is flat out bad. It's overpriced and I do not recommend. Just don't go. It's really sad to see this as being a 4 star restaurant on here I think Yelp needs to do better

Mark C.

Yelp
The place seems a bit messy, but at least the food is pretty darn good. The service is amiable and you get free chips as soon as you sit down. Great for anyone on campus that is seeking to fulfill their stomach with some Mexican food.

John B.

Yelp
I'm not going to lie. The DJ here was terrible. The drinks didn't even have liquor in them! What king of bar was this! I thought it'd be great to take my kids on a fun family trip to the local bar and was very upset by how underwhelming this place was. Never going again.

Toma T.

Yelp
Came here after a night of drinking and it was perfect. The staff was nice and tolerated my drunken demeanor and the food set me on the road to sobering up. Will be coming back next time I'm intoxicated

Abbie A.

Yelp
What better way to end a night out drinking with your boyfriend than a Mexican food stop? Burrito King was close and on our walk home so we decided to give it another try. My boyfriend having had it before, being only semi impressed, I had not had it prior to that night. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was actually pretty good for being a little hole in the wall college town mexican place. Was fresh and came with all the fixins, sour cream, guac, and lettuce on the side. I don't recall what my boyfriend had gotten, but I do recall him sayin that his experience this time was far better than his last. Burrito King overall was a little below average. But when you're drunk on a Saturday night, it's pretty damn good.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Mexican Approved (by a Flores)...Without the "out with my gf/bf at 1am" story. Also easy to find seating. I recommend: Steak Tacos + Tortilla chips + Rice + Beans. Simply yet tasty. 1. Chips are CRISPY--Like bitting into Lays...but even crispier. It's pretty insane. 2. Steak Tacos: Tasty. Simple ingredients (steak, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, etc) but they put the seasoning that really makes it good. Your typical taco joint suffers from blandness, but they seem to overcome that with good seasoning 3. Mexican Rice: Very cheesey. I wouldn't call this 'authentic', but it's like cat food for a Mexican: cheap, tasty, and could prob eat it everyday (for health reasons of course, I wouldn't recommend it).

Matthew M.

Yelp
If there's one thing that is difficult to do, it is fuck up Mexican food. With that being said, to do it on a consistent basis is truly a work of art. You might expect this review to be one star based on that statement, but I'm extremely impressed by how consistently shitty this food is. That's where the five stars come from. The consistency. I consistently hate myself for coming here. I consistently find the food very sub par. I consistently have the servers being unable to communicate properly, and I consistently see the obese delivery driver playing Angry Birds on his phone. Unfortunately, Dos Reales is a ways away, so I'm stuck with this diarrhea soup of grovel disguised as Mexican food. In a world where all is changing, it brings me a sense of comfort that Burrito King is consistently shitty. Lose your job? Getting a divorce? In the midst of a bunch of crappy fluctuation all part of this shithole called life? Come to Burrito King with low expectations, and those low expectations will consistently not be met. Five stars for being of beacon of everlasting shit in a sea of change.

Wei Y.

Yelp
I was lured by the $5 burrito hooked deal. It was huge, but tastes very mediocre. I would rather pay 2 dollars more for chipotle next time.

Conor C.

Yelp
Huge portions, tasty food, reasonable prices. Sometimes inconsistent however (e.g. sometimes chips are included in my orders, other times not)

Gautam A.

Yelp
Omar rocks. Beyond Food showed they were closed but I called the restaurant and Omar did a wonderful job of getting our food to us. I have ordered from BK several times and they never disappoint. Omar will always be my go to guy.

Nick A.

Yelp
I never realized a burrito place wouldn't know how to wrap a burrito! I basically opened my to go box and watched the ingredients slip right out of the tortilla like a damn water slide. Not only was it poorly wrapped, I think this is by far the most average and dry tasting burrito I've ever had.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
I ordered from Burrito King via GrubHub a few nights ago. Food arrived hot and the portions are massive! My husband got the Burrito King, seriously it's huge, can easily feed 2 people. Also ordered the enchiladas supremas which weren't bad, it was terribly messy though in its container, it's I think 5 different enchiladas, couldn't tell which was which, too much sauce too. Steak fajitas were good, again very large portion, you'll need extra tortillas. I would order or dine in again.

Jacob A.

Yelp
Ordered from here using eatstreet order. Order was on time. Got my food and wasn't correct food. Ordered a burrito king and burrito princess and got two princesses. Called back about this, talked to person on phone and they said they would have one sent out to me quickly. Waited over an hour before calling back. Got on the phone and the person answering was disrespectful, threatened to hang up on me, and when I asked questions, was being abruptly rude. This kind of service is something that will make me not come back here. He was then offering a $1.25 refund for a $10.00 burrito and when I said that did not make sense, he presumed to say the same thing. I'm also pretty sure he had the wrong address and didn't even attempt to look up my previous order. Service was horrible. Update : put to 3 star as delivery ended up coming. Was late. But delivery driver was very nice.

Julia N.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get steak tacos!!!!! One of the best drunk food restaurants, and at a good price too. Chicken nachos are also delicious, and the portions are big enough for 2-3 people. Very friendly setting and one of the best Mexican restaurants around campus!

Mindy M.

Yelp
Two of three meals were correct. Veggie Fajita quesadilla, veg burrito, shrimp burrito ordered, but received a very meaty burrito instead of a veg fajita. It was a delivery to people staying at a hospital, and it came with no napkins, silverware, or straws. The horchata was flavorless. Chips were good, guacamole very good, salsa more of an Italian red sauce. Very disappointing overall.

Saadman R.

Yelp
We ordered chicken fajita quesadillas. The chicken was like it was thrown on the grill for 30 seconds after being boiled. Grilled onions were also underdone. Overall, I regret ordering from here. Also, $10.85-ish for this felt like robbery. So no, avoid unless you're starving.

Asia S.

Yelp
I wish I could give this zero stars. The burrito I got from here made me feel sad and is honestly the worst burrito I have had in my life. I don't leave many reviews but this experience forced me to write one. There is not one grain of seasoning in the entire burrito. You could tell me they boiled steak and used that for my burrito and I would believe you. Also didn't give enough hot sauce to make it edible. Wish I dined in so I could ask for a refund. The chips were honestly the best part of the whole meal.

Rishad K.

Yelp
Very pricey for below average Mexican food. The only above average part about this place is the chips and dip which will run you a quick 4 dollars btw with far too much dip and basically 10 chips all together. And if you want more chips and salsa then you can pay even more money. The burritos here are about 9 dollars I believe, and for this price I should get the same quality and amount of food I would at Pepe's, which I absolutely don't. Oh and the burritos can very easily be made at your house for probably one dollar in ingredients with more flavor and proportions that are actually fair. These burritos come with an extremely minimal amount of protein in them too, it's all practically veggies and did not even completely fill my 150lb frame up. I almost forgot to mention that the wait here is almost always 30 minutes. The only plus side is that it is open til about 3:30am I believe. Buy a pizza for 9 dollars instead and this way have leftovers for tomorrow too.

Eric B.

Yelp
ok, i Love the salsa here and would have it over just about anywhere in town. The fajita quesadilla is good, but really messy. Had the nachos and was turned off, the chips work well for Salsa, NOT well for Nachos if that makes any sense. Also, a notch off because the place is FILTHY.

Maria W.

Yelp
I placed an order with specific instructions, which they messed up ! I then tried calling the restaurant and could not get an answer!!! Horrible service

Michaela K.

Yelp
My favorite place on campus to get late next Mexican. They are always open late which is perfect because you can hit up the bar and then head over for some Mexican. I always order a vegetarian but without mushrooms. Whenever I order for delivery they rarely get my order correct by putting mushrooms in the burrito. Other than that it is a great place for Mexican.

Theodore P.

Yelp
Their burritos are huge. I kept seeing their food truck on campus and I decided to order a steak burrito. It blew my expectations, the burrito was both huge and delicious.

Katie A.

Yelp
Their food is really good! I bet it would taste even better if it weren't lukewarm by the time it is delivered. Each time I've ordered delivery it takes over an hour and I always end up walking out of my apartment building to find they aren't at the right address.
