This place has been a lot of different things over the years so I hope they are here to stay! I’ve tried everything from breakfast burritos to tacos to tamales and everything is made fresh to order and is a healthy serving size. Salsas are fresh and perfectly seasoned. I’ve also used them for catering and they were fantastic to work with and the food was a hit. Service is always with a smile! They have a few high tops you can eat at but keep in mind the other half of the place is a grocery store.

Came for a simple steak burrito and was pleasantly surprised. Salsa appears to be home made and very flavorful. Very reasonable prices and the food was very hot for my takeout order. Will be back.

First time trying & we will most definitely be returning!! Ordered takeout last night and the whole experience was great. They use a customizable online ordering system (clover) so you can see everything that’s included with what you’re getting (the one exception being, I didn’t know my torta included french fries, so I ordered a side. not a big deal). The restaurant is inside a grocery store, so there is not much for seating/atmosphere but it’s a fantastic place for takeout and groceries. And my partner said the owner was extremely kind and accommodating! We accidentally forgot to enter any meat for our burrito, and he remade it for us no problem. Portion sizes are quite large, a whole 6 oz guac & chips is $6, a big ol piece of tres leches (i’m talking roughly 5”x5”) is $6.. plus there’s different deals on different days of the week. My only feedback/notes for next time: request to have torta & burrito cut in half, and salt on the tortilla chips. 😁 Thank you to the owner (i believe it’s Javier) 🙏 You’re doing an amazing job

To start, the owner Javier was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. I ordered the veggie torta which was 15% today (Monday). There are deals each day of the week. It was truly one of the best sandwiches I’ve had! Will definitely be back

The food is very delicious, the rice is delicious and the beans too, the sauces are super delicious if you want something spicy and delicious, the enchiladas and chilaquiles are served in good portions, the owner is a super friendly and attentive person. Bendiciones a su negocio

This place is bomb. Our go-to quick meal since moving to the neighborhood. Javier is warm and kind and will go out of his way to make everything right for you. His dedication to his craft shows in every bite. Run! Don’t walk.

The name says it all. Get the "burrito patrón" thank me later. I recommend a "to go meal" the place is located inside of a convenient store so the dinning area is tight. Javier...(I think is the name)will serve you like a one on one michelin star chef!! Go give it a try.

I love this place, I feel like it's the TV show Bobs Burgers, but in real life 😆 The food is unique and has a lot of character, like a home-cooked meal. I always feel welcomed here and comfortable, there is a very relaxing and chill vibe which permeates this restaurant. Great place to stop for a burrito. They used to do a tofu burrito that I quite liked, but they had to phase it out due to lack of demand. It's too bad IMO. So I think right now the vegetarian burrito is just beans, rice, and veggies. It's still good tho. The spicy salsa hits. I was collecting some empty Jarritos bottles for a project and the owner was even willing to make a deal where he collected bottles for a couple weeks and I paid him for them when I picked them up. He's a great guy, fun to talk to and I can tell that he has a kind heart.

Wanted to try a new spot, after playing golf nearby. The tacos were excellent, and the portion for the chips and guac were generous -- and delicious! Met Javier, the owner, and he couldn't have been kinder or more hospitable. Definitely coming back to try other things on the menu

We ordered burritos for delivery. They were just okay at best. Very little flavor. Zero heat. And pricey for the so-so quality

Best Mexican food in Minneapolis! Javier was incredibly hospitable, friendly and so kind. Explaining all options, which made it so difficult to choose. We ordered nachos, and street tacos. Javier brought out fresh chips and salsa for us to munch on. Made the right decision on trying the housemade Horchata. The food was so fresh and delicious! We sat outside as it wasn't too hot although could benefit from an umbrella to shade from the sun. The attached grocery store had many interesting Mexican food options as well.

Yummy tacos, refried beans and rice! There are so many more things I want to try. Can't wait to eat there again

I wanted to try this place since I drove past their "We have tamales" sign about a month ago. I popped in last weekend and ended up ordering enchiladas instead (which were made to order as I waited). There are 3-4 high-top tables for eating in if you prefer. While I waited, I took a look around. This place is also a small market and would benefit from being more neat, tidy, and more visually appealing. Things are stuffed into and on top of every surface in the store. That said, I'm not sure if these two places are under the same, or separate, owners. So? Back to the food! :-) My enchiladas (which came with a side of rice and black beans) were delicious! I went back today to try their Oaxacan chicken tamales and was equally pleased - I'll be back to try their tacos next!

Great hole in the wall located inside a convenience store. We tried the street tacos and quesabirria tacos. Good amount of meat and great flavor. The owner was very kind. Can't wait to try other items.

Stopped here after golf at Hiawatha on a Friday night. The business is in the convenience store in case you're driving around looking for it. I had 4 steak tacos and a Jarito for $20+ which is steep considering you're not eating at a restaurant. Eating inside a convenience store isn't for everybody but it doesn't bother me. The disappointing part was the ordinary food. Steak was dry for the tacos. Tortillas unremarkable. Avocado salsa was good but quite spicy. The employees seemed nice and helpful, even though we came towards closing time. I try to avoid places like Chipotle in favor of these independent joints, but I usually regret it; food is similar quality for 2x the price and that is the case here unfortunately.

Hidden gem! Fantastic service, delicious food, and solid price for the amount of food you get. They have different specials each day and make certain dishes on the weekend only, so check out their website or give them a call to get that info

This place is wonderful! The owner is super friendly and nice, fast service and delicious food. It's located inside the mini mart and has a few tables inside as well as outside. I work just a few blocks from here and will definitely be back!

Absolutely great flavors; I get so disappointed when you get a burrito somewhere and it all tastes the same - not here. Welcoming atmosphere: you have to try the carnitas! Tried 3 of the salsas and all are well developed. Great value for the price.

We really enjoyed the takeout! The place was clean, staff friendly, and the burritos were huge. The pastor tacos were excellent too. The hot sauce was certainly hot and flavorful. A hidden local gem close to our house. I see they have breakfast burritos so I look forward to trying those some morning.

I love the tacos here. The carnitas is my favorite...homemade chips and salsas are flavorful. I've also had the quesadilla a couple times which is great. A family run operation with super friendly service.

Perfect enchilada. Got mine with steak + medium salsa which had just enough kick to keep it interesting. Muy rico!

Fast. Friendly. Not a huge menu, but all the standards are here. Great salsa. Tastes great! FYI: no longer open on Sundays.

We love Burritos El Patron! Best authentic Mexican food in Minneapolis, and we've tried a lot here and abroad. Don't let the obscure Flag Foods exterior deter you. Really personable family-owned, high quality, excellent food!

Best Burrito I've ever had in the state of Minnesota! Daily deals and special offers for students and school employees. Everything made fresh right in front of you. Awesome! Seriously! I also had fries!! Seasoned very well and crispy. Spicy guacamole !
