Burritos El Patron

Absolutely loved this little place! We were in the mood for burritos and they didn't disappoint! The burritos were big and flavorful, and the salsas were super good. They had a variety of spiciness, so anything from no heat to a lot of heat they had options. Overall a great quick spot to grab some lunch, definitely saved to my list of places to eat!

Excellent food and service! We ordered torta de pollo (chicken sandwich) and veggie burrito, both were delicious. Javier, the boss (el patron), took the time to chat with us. He told us they have a variety of original house salsas with different degrees of heat to choose from, we tried 2 and they were both very tasty. Everything had a true Mexican flavor! Very clean, it was full of Mexican and Latinamerican customers on a Sunday afternoon. It is a small restaurant inside a supermaket with a great team and genuine Mexican food. They have special discounts every weekday. I can’t wait to come back!

They’ve updated and expanded their menu items - Got the mote con chicharon and it’s enough to feed two - they handed me the salt shaker and personally I think it’s perfectly great

We got our food to go and ate at Lake Nokomis. There isn't much seating available inside the shop. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The burritos were massive and delicious. The salsas tasted fresh and had a slight kick. I had the birria inside my burrito and it was outstanding, I'll try the tacos next time.

The food was not fresh. Server was polite. If you like to pick up your food that’s fine, but sitting arrangements is not good. I would disregard the atmosphere if the food was fresh and good. I had way more better burritos and taco from food truck. I hope they make their quality better.

Food was amazing this place is my spot when I want authentic Mexican food! I want to try the whole menu now

I’ve tried everything from breakfast burritos to tacos to tamales and everything is made fresh to order and is a healthy serving size. Salsas are fresh and perfectly seasoned. I’ve also used them for catering and they were fantastic to work with and the food was a hit. Service is always with a smile! They have a few high tops you can eat at but keep in mind the other half of the place is a grocery store.

The salsas are the best! Excellent food. A must go! I eat the steak street tacos. Excellent food. Must check it out

Wanted to try a new spot, after playing golf nearby. The tacos were excellent, and the portion for the chips and guac were generous -- and delicious! Met Javier, the owner, and he couldn't have been kinder or more hospitable. Definitely coming back to try other things on the menu

We ordered burritos for delivery. They were just okay at best. Very little flavor. Zero heat. And pricey for the so-so quality

Best Mexican food in Minneapolis! Javier was incredibly hospitable, friendly and so kind. Explaining all options, which made it so difficult to choose. We ordered nachos, and street tacos. Javier brought out fresh chips and salsa for us to munch on. Made the right decision on trying the housemade Horchata. The food was so fresh and delicious! We sat outside as it wasn't too hot although could benefit from an umbrella to shade from the sun. The attached grocery store had many interesting Mexican food options as well.

Yummy tacos, refried beans and rice! There are so many more things I want to try. Can't wait to eat there again

I wanted to try this place since I drove past their "We have tamales" sign about a month ago. I popped in last weekend and ended up ordering enchiladas instead (which were made to order as I waited). There are 3-4 high-top tables for eating in if you prefer. While I waited, I took a look around. This place is also a small market and would benefit from being more neat, tidy, and more visually appealing. Things are stuffed into and on top of every surface in the store. That said, I'm not sure if these two places are under the same, or separate, owners. So? Back to the food! :-) My enchiladas (which came with a side of rice and black beans) were delicious! I went back today to try their Oaxacan chicken tamales and was equally pleased - I'll be back to try their tacos next!

Great hole in the wall located inside a convenience store. We tried the street tacos and quesabirria tacos. Good amount of meat and great flavor. The owner was very kind. Can't wait to try other items.

Stopped here after golf at Hiawatha on a Friday night. The business is in the convenience store in case you're driving around looking for it. I had 4 steak tacos and a Jarito for $20+ which is steep considering you're not eating at a restaurant. Eating inside a convenience store isn't for everybody but it doesn't bother me. The disappointing part was the ordinary food. Steak was dry for the tacos. Tortillas unremarkable. Avocado salsa was good but quite spicy. The employees seemed nice and helpful, even though we came towards closing time. I try to avoid places like Chipotle in favor of these independent joints, but I usually regret it; food is similar quality for 2x the price and that is the case here unfortunately.

Hidden gem! Fantastic service, delicious food, and solid price for the amount of food you get. They have different specials each day and make certain dishes on the weekend only, so check out their website or give them a call to get that info

This place is wonderful! The owner is super friendly and nice, fast service and delicious food. It's located inside the mini mart and has a few tables inside as well as outside. I work just a few blocks from here and will definitely be back!

Absolutely great flavors; I get so disappointed when you get a burrito somewhere and it all tastes the same - not here. Welcoming atmosphere: you have to try the carnitas! Tried 3 of the salsas and all are well developed. Great value for the price.

We really enjoyed the takeout! The place was clean, staff friendly, and the burritos were huge. The pastor tacos were excellent too. The hot sauce was certainly hot and flavorful. A hidden local gem close to our house. I see they have breakfast burritos so I look forward to trying those some morning.

I love the tacos here. The carnitas is my favorite...homemade chips and salsas are flavorful. I've also had the quesadilla a couple times which is great. A family run operation with super friendly service.

Perfect enchilada. Got mine with steak + medium salsa which had just enough kick to keep it interesting. Muy rico!

Fast. Friendly. Not a huge menu, but all the standards are here. Great salsa. Tastes great! FYI: no longer open on Sundays.

We love Burritos El Patron! Best authentic Mexican food in Minneapolis, and we've tried a lot here and abroad. Don't let the obscure Flag Foods exterior deter you. Really personable family-owned, high quality, excellent food!

Best Burrito I've ever had in the state of Minnesota! Daily deals and special offers for students and school employees. Everything made fresh right in front of you. Awesome! Seriously! I also had fries!! Seasoned very well and crispy. Spicy guacamole !
