"The problem with eating out these days is that all too often you’re obliged to share. It starts with “ooh shall we order a few things and have a bit of everything” and ends in your far superior choice (the signature agnolotti) being ravaged by animals (your friends), and basically getting two bites to yourself. This is a problem we’ve had at Shoreditch’s Burro e Salvia before, and we’ve solved it by having a lovely time on our own. Although there are only five pastas on per day at this little slip of a restaurant, they’re handmade in front of you, and getting some fresh pappardelle to go from the takeaway counter up front is always a good idea." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley

"One day Padella walks into school. Its jeans are ripped and it’s blaring London Calling from its headphones. The other kids are obsessed. In this scene Burro e Salvia would be the kid at the back of the room who’s been listening to White Riot the whole time and shredding their jeans for years. Only none of the other kids have been following them around. That’s not to to say Padella isn’t great, it’s just a bit more obvious about it. Burro has been about for a few years longer and has been doing brilliant handmade pasta since day one. The accompanying sauces change monthly and the vibe is great. The coolest thing about it though? "They’re both under 30, have miraculously gotten a mortgage together in London, look like they stepped out of an advert for The Kooples, and apparently they still get sexy on weekdays. Honestly, just get a booking for three at Burro e Salvia. This place is pretty chill, but very cool, and it’s hard to be jealous of anyone when you’re eating pasta this good. Plus, it doesn’t matter if you’re a bit jealous that they’re going home together, because you’re going to be leaving with a parcel of handmade pasta to cook at home.
