Not normally someone to post a review, but this one was so well deserved. Went to Burwell’s on a whim, sat immediately for a table for 4. Service was outstanding, food was absolutely incredible. Cocktails were great. I wish I remembered our server’s name, she deserves a shout out. Everyone was very informative. Top 5 best meals I have ever had. This competed with the Michelin Star experience I’ve had. Deviled eggs Filet on the signature hot rock Wagyu Hanger Seared Scallops Truffle and Parmesan mashed potatoes

Today ruined it for my family and I. Meals are overpriced. Been here several times before, maybe 3-4 time. Order the wet aged prime rib eye 16oz steak, classic presentation, side of blackened shrimp. Charged me 92$ - wasn't worth it. Times before, the steak was tender, well cooked, flavorful, juicy, charred just right, etc. The first time I came here, wasn't cooked to my liking, they tried 3x to get it right. 3x after, cooked perfectly. Today, one of, if not the toughest, steaks I've ever had. Order medium well, and the coloring was on point, but it tough as hell, no flavor, no char from the wood-fired grill, no tenderness whatsoever, just an overall horrible steak. I'm not in the business of returning food over and over again. The first time, if was offered up by the owner because the cook was new, okay cool no issue. But today, I was with family, and wasn't going to play that game again. The meat on the steak wasn't the quality it should have been. Looked as if they put a bunch of meat together, used meat glue, and put it on the grill. The taste, the texture, the form of the meat, all of it just didn't sit right with me. Maybe I'm over reacting, but I don't think I am. Happy hour, their drinks, phenomenal. But I'll never eat dinner here again.

Ok, Burwell's, it's your fault that I write this review from a food coma point of view. My wife and I stopped in for the happy hour menu and we definitely left happy and in a food stupor if memory serves me correctly. Popcorn shrimp? These lightly breaded, beautifully flaky fried shrimp are deliciously full size. The deviled eggs were a delicious, refreshing take on a usual suspect. Baked oysters, even though not from the happy hour menu? Completely worth it. That flavor... Wagyu and Filet hot rock... I thought I was back in Germany. Then, the woman next to me (wife) talks me into the cobbler for dessert. I don't even remember my name anymore. Atmosphere is a cool, classy steakhouse vibe. Bartender/service is friendly and enjoyable. What a great experience.

I'm not sure which of the food or service was better! The steak was amazing and flavorful, cooked so well. I loved the greens and calamari, then wagu on the stone was just amazing. Looking forward to coming back for our next steak night out. Price is fair for such a fantastic experience, you will enjoy yourself.

We had a good experience at Burwell’s. The service was wonderful and some items were delicious. The deviled eggs were interesting, not bad, just different. The 16oz ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and had nice flavor; a bit thinner than expected. The Truffle & Parmesan Mashed Potatoes were amazing! Definitely recommend. I didn’t care for the flavorless Mac n cheese. I wouldn’t get that again.

So, I am not a fish person in a fresh fish town—I opt for red meat. And this place DELIVERED! Never heard of wagyu curing of beef (the steer gets massaged to tenderize the meat while alive)— but it was GOOOOOOOD. Did the 8oz filet wagyu with asparagus and mashed potatoes and SAVORED every bite. Michael was our server and he shared all the things to do in charleston (photo included) and we have already done some, like going to the Griffon for beers, spend time down at Folly, and more. Charleston is our vibe. Plan to retire here. You gotta come. It is THE PLACE.

Google
My husband and were visiting the area and looking for a place thar serveda really good steak and seafood. We were not disappointed. The service was exceptional, and the food was indescribable. We started off with the calamari (not pictured), then on to our entrees (Grouper and Aged Ribeye) and dessert (Hummingbird Cheesecake & Strawberry Rubarb Cobbler!

Google
Such incredible food here. Wow! Hanger steak was amazing and calamari was perfect. I'm usually worried about chewy calamari but this stuff was amazing. The wood-fired steaks can take some time to prep but they let you know at the start. Have a drink and relax, and you'll have a great time.

Yelp
Burwell's Stone Fire Grill is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is delicious, the service is fantastic, and the ambiance is nice but casual. We always order appetizers, and they are one of the highlights of the meal. Our favorite is the Signature Hot Rock which is a 700 degree black lava stone to cook your own Wagyu, filet or lamb. We also enjoy their unique presentation and taste of deviled eggs. They have a full bar with a large selection of beers and cocktails. For dinner, we really enjoy the steaks - always prepared to our requested temperature. The sides are also really good. Their desserts are also great. One of our favorites is the Hummingbird Cheesecake. So good! Our whole family recommends Burwell's.

Yelp
Restaurant is a lot nicer on the inside than how it looks from the outside, it's kind of at the end of a street. There's a public parking garage a block over. Inside, there's a bar to the right and then seating to the left and there's an upstairs. We made reservations which highly recommend cause they look busy. I don't think there is a dress code but from looking around people were dressed nice. It is very loud just a heads up. We got seated but our assigned waitress never came. Another waitress came and checked on us and asked if we'd been helped at all and she was very apologetic and said she would serve us. She was very nice and attentive. For drinks, I did the blueberry mint passion cocktail which was delicious and then my husband did a glass of the Prisoner, which is one of their red wines. When I checked in on Yelp, I got a free glass of house wine coupon and showed it to our waitress. The Prisoner doesn't count but she took it off our receipt anyways which was very nice! For food, I did the hanger & filet lava stone appetizer and a side of fries because it was enough for a meal and I wanted to do it for the experience. It's 8 oz. total so it was enough food for me for sure. My husband got the filet entree so it comes cooked already with a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. He said it wasn't bad.

Yelp
Burtwell's came highly recommended as a got-to for great steaks in Charleston. It was easy to make reservations online and they even sent a reminder via text. We were greeted immediately upon arrival. However, the hostess tried to seat us upstairs although there was ample space for seating us in the main dining area. Once seated we ordered drinks and appetizers and we quickly received our food. My scallops were delicious. Moreover, I was told the steak was underwhelming. Reminiscent of an Outback steak. Also, the cobbler we were served for dinner seemed to have black pieces from the pan in our dessert. Overall the dining experience was nice and relaxing.

Yelp
My husband loves steak and wanted to go there for Father's day, as they had a dry aged steak on the menu. It's a cool experience getting to cook your meat on the hot stone they have as their signature appetizer. It's definitely gets the room smoky! And after they took it away, we noticed we felt a lot cooler. They dry aged steak was a 45 day one as opposed to their previous one which was 75 days, so it had a nice flavor that was not too offense. It's a steak forward place, with pretty focused menu to compliment the meat. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. The dessert was excellent. A good amount of mousse in the chocolate cake, and not an overwhelming amount of banana in the cheesecake. The decor/atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, but if you are going for the meat, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Love Burwell's as a good option for a date night or even business dinner. We prefer sitting at the bar and it's always been very nice. Only reason the rating is a 3 and not a 4 is because it has been inconsistent in terms of how things are cooked and overall quality. It's good 4 out of 5 times, but sometimes the portions will be much much smaller or things not cooked to order. Will say the deviled eggs are a must try as it relates to an appetizer. The hot rock is fun because you get to cook your own steak - my only issue is that it stick horribly to the rock which is a bummer. They salt the rock but it only helps a little because it is that hot. Filet has always been good, don't think the size is always as advertised, though. Service has always been consistent. They are helpful and will answer questions or make suggestions if you are unsure. Overall very attentive.

Yelp
Came here on Christmas Eve with my now fiance. Walking in....the ambiance is warm and cozy. Very inviting. Felt like home. We were instantly greated and sat by our waiter Mike. He was very attentive and took care of us the whole night. They had a 3 course menu for 75$ for Christmas Eve. We each did that and chose the following Appetizers: Soudough toast with cherries, brie and thyme Pork Belly steak Sourdough toast was epic well balanced sweet , salty, crunchy Fiance loved the pork belly, almost got full on tnat alone Main: 8 oz filet medium + with mushrooms &onions &truffled mashed potatoes NY strip with confit smashed fingerling potatoes and green beans Oh my goodness...filet was perfectly cooked ...mashed potatoes were so smooth I could use it as lotion lol NY strip tender fall apart. Seasoned well. Smashed potatoes were an excellent side for the steak, so delicious salty creamy crispy what?! Dessert: Egg Nogg bread pudding Cinnamon toast tres leches As a baker by trade I was impressed with these desserts. And that's hard to do. Sweet and creamy not too overpowering. Texture on point. Thank you so much to Mike and Burwell's for making our engagement night so special ...I'll never forget it. A woman's dream!

Yelp
Firstly, great little spot kind of hidden away in the Market neighborhood. Lot of locals and a great build out of a great space. Secondly, the Deviled Eggs were one of the best small bites I've ever put in my mouth. Just about perfectly executed and elevated deviled eggs to a stratosphere level. Sadly, like all steakhouses these days, the steaks were ghastly overpriced (I know, I know.. price of beef, labor, etc) but even 3 small slices of hanger steak (an off-cut that is usually a value) was very pricey. All in all a very good spot and worth a repeat visit- for about 10 orders of those eggs!

Yelp
During our first visit to Burwell's Fire Stone Grill in Charleston on Saturday evening, my husband enjoyed the ribeye steak, I savored the wagyu hanger steak, and my daughter relished the lump crab shrimp pasta. The wagyu steak was exceptionally flavorful and has now claimed the top spot on my list of best steaks. The service was superb, leaving us eager to return to Charleston."

Yelp
Came here with the girlfriend to celebrate Christmas little early. We shared the fried calamari for appetizer, I had the 14 oz NY Strip Steak with Mac and cheese and veggies, she had the 8 oz Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and we had the chocolate cake (get in there soon, it's a limited time item!) for dessert. The first thing you notice when you walk in is that you feel like you are home. You smell the wood fire but it isn't smoky. No loud music, and the lights are a little less dim than steakhouses often are. Our server, Michael, was absolutely amazing! He could tell that this was a special night out for us and he made sure to take lots of pictures for us with our camera. The food? WOW! My steak had a lot more character than it does at Oak or Hall's, thanks to the wood grill... so did her filet. The mashed potatoes were outstanding and so was the Mac and cheese... really great flavor where the flavors and textures of the different cheeses were very present. Honestly... I can make a steak about as good as Hall's or Oak at home, I have done it plenty of times, but I still like to go out and eat. I cannot make a steak like Burwell's at my house. The dessert was off the wall amazing too! This was a great dining experience. Oh, and it was a much better value than Oak or Hall's, too. I know that once we are in this tier of restaurants, we don't really look at the prices much, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy saving some money or getting more for dollar. We are already planning to return after Christmas! J.Ja

Yelp
We were in Charleston for one of our visits. My brother is a Steakhouse addict. We could not find one, so we chose Burwells. The service was excellent; we sat upstairs, away from the crowd, which I prefer. All the drinks were good. No bad comments; I would definitely go again. It is a hidden gem.

Karen H.

Yelp
We arrived just as happy hour was beginning and Jay, the chef, just happened to be waiting in the restaurant for some replacement equipment. We had a friendly conversation and he presented the delicious, lightly breaded "popcorn" shrimp, which were huge, to us personally because we had a very short wait before ordering. My husband chose a filet to cook on his own 700 degree hot stone-very tender and tasty! He also chose a Ceasar salad that he said had just the right flavor. I chose a cheeseburger with candied bacon, which was the perfect compliment of sweet and savory, and seasoned fries. Yummy! The specialty happy drinks were thirst quenching for hot and humid Charleston. Absolutely a must to go a little off the beaten path to Burwell's!!

Yelp
A Charleston hidden gem! We read the great reviews in Yelp and figured we would check it out. The ambiance walking in gives a fun vibe with patrons enjoying themselves at the bar and having lots of conversation. The wood fired grill is the centerpiece of the kitchen and just looks like the food is going to be amazing. Our waitress was very informative on all drink and menu items. We began with the wagyu hot stone and a wedge salad. Our entrees were the 6oz Denver cut and 16oz ribeye. I added shrimp to mine and my husband added Mac and cheese. Pro tip: if you feel the Mac and cheese needs more flavor, dip it in the house steak sauce. They offered about 5 different sauces for all of our items and they were all great. We really loved this entire dining experience and enjoyed our meal, aside from it all tasting spectacular. Will definitely recommend to others and would absolutely return.

Yelp
Another great dinner and great service both at the bar during happy hour, pre dinner drinks and appetizers, and at the dining area. Burwell's always deliver quality, excellent, and amazing food. Keep up the good work guys!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Burwell's Stone fire grill & it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is nice. You can dress up, dress casually, I saw it all! We made a reservation so as soon as we went in we were sat at a table. Our server was very nice and accommodating. I am not a fan of truffle oil so she made sure I had everything without truffle oil. Very nice person as well. We had the deviled eggs but they came out with truffle oil so I couldn't eat them. The presentation was beautiful though. We had the Snake River Farms Wagyu Hanger steak and it was AMAZING. I have never had a steak so tender and easy to chew. Very juicy and flavorful as well. I paired my meal with a berry bubbly drink and everything was just excellent. We will definitely be back to Burwell's!

Yelp
Wow! I'd give it more stars, if I could. We are in town so the kid can do an overnight college visit and after dropping him off, we wanted to find a really good steak place. Yelp did it again! The place is absolutely beautiful and super clean. We were greeted quickly by our amazing server, Aaron, and soon had drinks from the bar. Aaron was funny, attentive (without being overbearing) and really knowledgeable about the menu and food preparation/ presentation. We started with salads - I normally go for a wedge, but after hearing about the seasonal salad, I was sold! Hubby had the Caesar, his usual. The Caesar was just perfect - the right amount of dressing (it was so flavorful. They must make their own), Parmesan and tiny croutons. Yum! But that seasonal salad? Oh my! A bed of greens (including spinach), strawberries, roasted red onions, sliced almonds, feta cheese and a really well done raspberry vinaigrette - yes please!! Hubby had the 14 oz NY Strip and it was cooked perfectly rare, exactly as he had ordered. He chose the steak frites presentation and was thrilled. The frites were so well seasoned! And that maitre d'butter - wow. It's green, which is funny, but one taste and you know why - so herby and buttery. It was fantastic. I have never tasted anything like it. I had the waygu hanger steak, mid-rare. It was so so good. Who knew hanger steak could melt in your mouth like that? Obviously the chef does! Paired with the seasonal presentation (fingerling potatoes, creamed spinach and this amazing red-eye sauce), I think I could eat it every night. It was just that good. The creamed spinach was exceptional- most places bathe it in cream. Not here, there was just enough cream, but the spinach was the star. We also split an add on of seared scallops - oh my! Expertly seared and so sweet and flavorful! We finished our incredible meal with the creme brûlée, because if it's on the menu, we are ordering it. Just perfect. This one was obviously fired to order with the sugar crust crispy and warm. It makes me crazy when they have been torched in advance and thrown in a fridge to be served later. Not here! Event the berry compote on top was evidence of the chef and his team's attention to detail. We are steakhouse junkies and have eaten in many up and down the east coast. This is by FAR one of the most memorable meals we have had in a very long time. The staff is phenomenal - so friendly. I even saw the Manager help bus tables. They run food for each other and it is very obvious that they take pride in what they do. I sure hope the kid chooses to go to school here, because we'll become regulars when we are in town. But well's is an absolute MUST visit if you are looking for a memorable steakhouse dinner in Charleston. Make sure you ask for Aaron! But no worries if he is off when you visit, from what we saw, the entire staff is amazing!

Yelp
ok ok ok. I have always been a foodie and now I get to travel for work, I am in many places throughout the US and this place ranks at the very top. Drink was perfectly made. Superb service from the time walking in the door to ordering food to leaving. The ambiance, warm and inviting and the music was 'ON POINT ' old school radio hits .... but smooth. ADDITIVE to the vibe. The wedge salad was scrumptious, the baked oysters perfectly baked, the prime ribeye ...... JUST EXCELLENT. AND I CAME LATE (and I know that got to be ready to go homE--- sorry I made a reservation so late) but they treated me soooooo well...... THE BEST !!!!

Yelp
Great option for special occasions or a quick bit at the stylish and comfortable bar. Fantastic happy hour options w good value menu items. JoJo our bartender has always taken great care of us when dining at the bar. Steaks and burgers are delicious here but don't sleep on the seafood options!

Yelp
Best steak I've had in awhile. Came here during our honeymoon. The deviled eggs were beautiful and divine. Had the chefs seasonal salad. I've been trying to recreate it at home, Superb. Definitely recommend the hot stone appetizer. The service was top notch, everyone was friendly. The restaurant is great for a date night. The mood is relaxing even when their are children dining. This will be a must, every time we visit.

Yelp
When we arrived it was pretty busy, but we're were quickly seated because we had reservations. definitely would recommend booking a table a few days in advance because it seemed pretty packed. Their second level seating was very elegant with nice lighting and pretty wall decor. Our server came over and gave us a run down of the mu including the specials for the night. We opted for the shrimp and the deviled eggs. Both were amazing! The sauce on the shrimp was my favorite. And the eggs had candied bacon on them, making them a little less traditional but I enjoyed every bit of it. Apparently I forgot to take a picture of my main, but I got the wagyu with the red wine sauce and scallops. Couldn't have asked for a better main dish. Everything was cooked exactly as it should have been. Check out the 700 degree stone app too! The bring you out some steak or lamb that you can cook yourself at the table on a very hot stone. Looked super cool! Also don't forget to check in here! Free house wine when you do!

Yelp
First time here and won't be the last! The smell when you walk into the restaurant is wonderfully intoxicating! When we arrived our table was ready and already had a glass of water at eat place setting (nice touch- very welcoming). Our server Nathan met us at the table and explained how he would take care of us. Drinks - then appetizers and meal order at the same time, they would stage it so we weren't waiting between appetizers and meal. It was perfect! Started with a few glasses of house wine(which was a really good Cabernet) and a great dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives!! Yum!! We order a few appetizers for the table. My favorite was the charred octopus. The flavors of the arugula and beet ricotta together with the octopus were amazing! The deviled eggs were just the right size and had just enough of a hint of dill. The baked oysters were delicious with the perfect amount of salt and lemon. The wedge salad was so fresh, crunchy and good! The hunks of blue cheese and the pickled okra were so good! We also had the seasonal salad which had apples, nuts, goat cheese and and an amazing dressing! Then there was the meat! OMG.... so delicious and tender. I had the signature hit rock snake river farm wague. It was a neat experience to cook it on the 700 degrees hot rock. My husband had the wague hanger steak with the steakhouse classic presentation. The steak had great flavor and was very tender. The portions are not real large but just enough so you don't feel stuffed. We finished off the night with the Pluff mud Porter chocolate cake. We weren't crazy about the marshmallows on top however, the cake with the chocolate and butterscotch sauce were amazing. Great night, great food, and great service,

Yelp
The service was great The food....not so much. We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We each ordered appetizers. 2 people ordered mussels. Another person ordered the hot rock, and I ordered the deviled eggs. I didn't try the mussels because I just don't like them. The deviled eggs were fabulous. For entrées 4 of us ordered the Filet Migion. 3 of us ordererd our steaks medium well. 2 of us ordered the presentation of parmesean mashed potatoes with asparagus. The steaks were way over medium well. Absolutely so dry it was almost inedible and tough. The asparagus was the fat ones and was tough. The Asparagus would be much better if the restaurant used the skinny tender ones.I ate the tops and brought my steak home, which I could not eat the following day because reheating it made it even more tough. The potatoes were good. My granddaughter ordered a Filet Migion medium rare. Hers was good, according to her. The other person in our party also ordered the Filet Migion and the fries as his presentation. He had no complaints. My grandson and daughter only ate a few pieces of their steak for the same reason....way overcooked. In my opinion, this restaurant is way overpriced. When our server brought the bills out, he had put all of the appetizers on my bill. He should have asked us how the bill was to be divided. He graciously corrected it for us. As far as ambiance, this restaurant has more of a bar atmosphere rather than fine dining. It was noisy and not conducive for a romantic or quiet dinner. In my opinion this restaurant is highly overpriced for the quality of food. I will not be returning to this restaurant. There are many "steak and seafood "restaurants in the Tri County area of Charleston with much better food and much more reasonable prices.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate a couple of birthdays with 3 friends. Really cool atmosphere and place was packed (Friday night @ 730pm; reservations needed for sure). Cocktails were on point. Food was very good. Owner stopped by an chatted with us for 10 minutes or so. As I recall, the place is named after his mom's father (or grandfather?). Service was excellent and efficient. Great steakhouse. Would recommend and would come back.

Yelp
Left a review five years ago but recently re-discovered Burwells and have been back twice in the last couple of months. Well, I have to say my wife Cathy said that this was her new favorite place in Charleston, which is quite a compliment doing the extensive restaurant options in the great city. Place has great bartenders and great drinks at the bar. Nice wine list. I am currently drinking a Burwell's martini with blue cheese olives, which is really nice. Still have to love these Burwells deviled eggs with the tang of horseradish. Again in amazing twist. Are they both old style family holiday appetizer. Just had a very nice wedge salad, which is a nice starter for a steak dinner. They always have a fish and pasta entrée if you don't want a wood grilled steak. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
We ended up here after another restaurant was full. The server, Josh, said the burger was good and it did not disappoint. I've had many different burgers and fries in my life and this was by-far the best burger and fries that I've ever had in my life. The burger was seasoned to perfection and the fries were simply amazing. Aside from the food, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Anytime I'm close to Charleston, I will be going here to get a burger and fries.

Yelp
Get: hot rock (we got wagyu) and petite filet with the classic preparation; crème brûlée; Nutella cheesecake Avoid: wine list (not impressive); boudin balls They are so friendly here - the server was so bubbly and nice! For appetizers we got the boudin balls and I do not recommend. We've had many boudin balls all over the south and these were not good - they were waaaayyy to dense and lacked all flavor. We also got the wagyu hot rock - this was great! They certainly cut the meat in too thick of pieces and very irregularly cut for a hot rock preparation (normal hot rock preparation should have consistent relatively thin cuts to allow searing) but the meat itself was great! They serve it with two sauces that aren't even necessary because the meat is so good, but the sauces are nice too. For our entree, we got the petite filet cooked in the classic preparation. It was so good!!! The mashed potatoes were so silky and flavorful. The green beans were cooked to perfection. For dessert, the crème brûlée and Nutella cheesecake we're incredible! We also got amazing chocolate martinis! They food was overall amazing and the service was impeccable. The owner was personally in the restaurant and helping with all the aspects of food service. They took the boudin balls off the menu without us or them saying anything until the very end. Great service and great food.

Yelp
Great steak and great ambience! A less formal place to get a great steak!! The cocktail are first class and a good wine list

Yelp
This place continues to impress. Went to Happy hour twice here in the last month. Once while visiting with friends and once on our own. Both experiences were good. The food never disappoints and it is always fun sitting at the bar. We love the hot rocks and fries. Between us and our friends , we tried all the appetizers. The deviled eggs and the boudin balls were a hit. Last visit we tried the popcorn shrimp and they are really good. Not really popcorn, they are full size shrimp cut in half and then breaded. The have a little kick so if you like spicy food, try them. This is always one of our favorites in Charleston and now we have a few friends who are converts too! Definitely go here.....

Yelp
Nice warm atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes and drinks. We opted for the Wagyu hot rock appetizer. The meat had a good flavor and it's always fun to cook your own food at the table. This dish would be better if the meat pieces were more consistent in thickness. The recommended cooking time of about 30 secs per side works great if the meat is a wee bit thinner, but is not adequate for the thick chunks of meat. We just started cutting our own meat thinner before cooking it. The boudin balls were not great. They were packed too densely before frying and lacked flavor (I'm from Southern Louisiana originally and know what they should taste like). They took them off our bill without us asking. They just noticed we didn't eat them. Nice touch. The filet mignon was a great quality of meat, cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were so good that we ordered a side to go. The asparagus was thin and seasoned nicely. Will be going back.

Yelp
Burwell's exceeded all expectations. First, our waitress was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and helped give great recommendations both for wine and the steak. The food was absolutely delicious. My girlfriend and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Happy Hour was changed from 4-7 to 4-6 but JoJo was still behind the bar and we were so excited to see him. He's been a part of a ton of Yelp events at Burwell's over the years, so we love going back in and supporting them. EW and I stopped in for a drink (me) and the deviled eggs (her)! Both were fantastic. I remember getting the eggs years ago and they were super bland. Not anymore! They're little flavor bombs and were delicious. It was so fun to be downtown on a cold, quiet evening. Living up in North Chuck you don't get down here enough, and I know for me, I forget how great our city is!!

Yelp
There is not enough to say about this meal. It was impeccable When you first walk in, there is a symphony of smells wafting from the wood fired oven. The seasonal salad starter was the best I have ever had. The filet mignon was sheer perfection. And I am not a meat eater.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a 5 o'clock reservation on Valentine's Day and it was perfect. We were the first ones there and got seated at a little corner booth which was great. Our food came out quickly and our server, Henderson, was on it. All the food was GREAT. We spent a quarter of what we did at another Charleston steakhouse that I won't name and the food was exceptionally better. Highly recommend trying Burwell's and having Henderson take care of you. I will be back for the deviled eggs!

Yelp
The best mashed potatoes I have found in Charleston!! I am a sucker for anything with truffle involved and they put truffle oil on the mashed potatoes. The asparagus was perfect, the steak was cooked perfectly medium for me. Our server was so nice, and even brought my fiancé and I a complementary glass of champagne. We will be going back 100% next time we're in Charleston and want a steak!

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants I've been to. The server was so knowledgeable and friendly. The manager even overheard us discussing wine and came over to help. The Wagyu beef appetizer was incredible. I ordered the scallops and I cleaned the plate along with everyone else in my party. I would go back to Charleston just to eat here again! 10/10

Yelp
Let me tell you!!! Everything at the place was delicious even the tap water!!! Our waiter Nate was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations, as it was our first time there. He recommended the Poached Peach salad(not pictured) and that is probably the best salad I've ever had. The dim lighting makes that vibe real romantic.

Yelp
Definitely recommend for a great steak meal! Our server, Michael, was hands-down a funny and delightful addition to the dinner experience. Even if you don't want a steak meal, the salads were amazing and I'm sure their other entrees are just as worth it! But if you are looking for a good grilled steak, come to this place because they prepare different presentations and can customize the add ons to the steak. Highly recommend their truffle butter! Michael was right in it was hard to share just one serving among friends cause it was so good! Will be coming again!

Yelp
We had an outstanding experience at Burwell's. The service was 10/10 but the food... to die for. They have the most seasoned, perfectly crisp calamari and French fries. The mashed potatoes were the best we've ever had, hands down. The Filet and NY strip were delicious. Will absolutely be back.

Yelp
Great experience all across the board. We had such a lovely waitress she was so knowledgeable with the menu and CHARLESTON! She gave amazing recommendations on the food and drinks and we were not disappointed. The drinks were AWESOME! I probably had the best French 75 of my life here. Nothing like fresh squeezed lemon! Also had a spicy margarita and it definitely was packed with some HEATTTTT! The steak was prepared so nicely and had amazing flavor. Loved loved loved the mushrooms! Great place would definitely go back next visit.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING! My husband and I had our "grand finale" dinner at Burwell's on the last night of our honeymoon and we certainly saved the best for last! Best piece of steak I have ever had. The mashed potatoes were delicious, too! Manageable portions and a wonderful atmosphere. It was a fantastic dining experience and enjoyable from start to finish. We never felt rushed and truly took our time to savor every bite. They even served us complimentary chocolate truffles in honor of our honeymoon! I would make the 12 hour drive again just for that meal!

Yelp
We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary with a weekend getaway and the hubby chose this for our celebratory dinner and they sure delivered. The chef came over shortly after we were seated to welcome us and wish us well, the manager came by at one point too and our waitress was an absolute doll. Service was impeccable, the petite filet were some of the best we've ever had. The poached peach salad was absolutely delightful and the nutella cheesecake exceeded even our NY expectations. Apparently locals compare them to Halls...I'd say go right here, you will be more than happy if you do. Bravo to the staff!

Yelp
We were in town for my boyfriends moms bday and it was up to us to find a nice spot for her bday The restaurant interior was cozy and upscale at the same time. We got the duck appetizer special and it was savory, acidic and sweet at the same time. Interesting flavors that was enjoyable but the textures of the arugula, mandarins and duck threw me off. Me and my bf shared the scallops and the wagyu steak southern style. The scallops were absolutely scrumptious. Seared to perfection and they were a good size. It did come with green beans but majority of the beans were undercooked. The wagyu steak was phenomenal. It had a great sear and flavor. We did ask for medium and it came out medium rare but it was still tender and delicious so no big deal. The mashed potatoes asparagus was simply delicious. I was able to take a few bites of the other dishes. Shout out to the frites with maitre d sauce & Nutella cheesecake *drools* We finished off with the lemon pound cake which had a great flavor but was dry if I'm being honest. Overall really enjoyed this place and oh my bfs mom approves ;)

Yelp
Upscale and friendly. We go to the bar and enjoy the happy hour. Fun place to go, without being inundated by tourists like us

Yelp
I am a steak Snob and let me tell you this is the best steak I've eaten outside of my home! The seasoning was perfect and the grill technician and chef were perfection! Nothing we ate was below expected or the value. The atmosphere is a little loud but the service was fantastic. We will return.

Yelp
Burwell's Stone Fire Grill - Prime Steak & Fresh Seafood in Charleston is a great option for quality steaks and much more. I really like the location and relaxed ambience here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need.
