"This spot is named after a real-life Buster, who’s often seen behind the grill and has been firing up Louisiana-style barbeque in California since the ‘60s. Whether it’s the pulled pork and tri-tip sandwiches with pineapple slaw and baked beans, or the barbeque chicken and homemade sweet potato pie, all the food is good and worthy of a pitstop at some point during your visit. There are some picnic tables and indoor spots, but you should also know that this place attracts some of the best jazz and blues musicians in the Bay Area for jam sessions on the patio every Sunday afternoon." - Christina Julian

Great experience. I was born in Memphis so I am picky about my BBQ, but they really nailed this tri-tip. I love the music in here. The branding is cute. The BBQ sauce is DELICIOUS— one of my favorites. The garlic bread is so perfect in texture. My only complaint is that I wish it had a lot more garlic but it was still phenomenal. Damn. The potato salad reminds me of home. Again— delicious. It tastes to close to my favorite potato salad recipe. I have a big sweet tooth so I love that they use a sweet coleslaw. I opted for the baked beans instead of chili beans. They were tomato-flavor heavy but is was not a bad thing. I guzzled them! Lastly— I had to get the banana pudding. It was PERFECT. Literally perfect. So fresh and delightful. Holy moly. My entire meal here was nothing short of yum. I already texted my friend and told him we are coming back here because he needs to enjoy them too!

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an incredible dining experience at Buster's BBQ! Their tri-tip is absolutely phenomenal—perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The spicy sausage is another standout; it has just the right kick that keeps you coming back for more! What really impressed me were the sides. Their potato salad and macaroni salad are delicious, especially because they aren't overly sweet like most places. It's a nice change that lets the flavors shine through. The portions are incredibly generous, ensuring you leave with a full belly. Each meal comes with two huge pieces of French bread, which are perfect for soaking up all the delicious sauces. If you're a BBQ lover, Buster's is a must-visit! Their dining room is very casual, and the staff are very friendly as well. I can't wait to go back and indulge in more of their mouthwatering offerings. Highly recommend!

Google
Overall, a disappointing Father's Day meal. I ordered the ribs. They were tender-ish but not fall-off-the-bone tender. The flavor also fell short of the promise made by the large smoker in front. Similarly, the BBQ chicken, usually one of my Wife's favorites, was unsatisfying and she left half of her order on the plate. Also, the banana pudding tasted more like vanilla instant pudding with a couple of nilla wafers on top. Maybe they were just having a bad day? I don't know.

Google
I was disappointed with the food given that I've ate the one at Ventura for years. When I was younger I used to eat it at the stand they had in saticoy. Will never eat up this location again I rather go to ranch hands in Newbury Park The tri-tip I had was cold and definitely overpriced

Google
Sometimes, the food there is really good. However, it's very inconsistent, and when it's bad, it's really bad. I've had it a few times, and mostly, it was good, but I had it earlier today, and the beef ribs were the worst ribs I've ever had, as they were overcooked and burned my fingers when I tried to peel them, and my friend had the chicken, which he said was undercooked. If you're hungry for bbq and in the area, drive a little bit further to Agoura Hills or Calabasas, they have better bbq there.

Google
We walked in hungry and intrigued. BBQ is my favorite. What we got was the most overpriced, under seasoned chicken and Tri-tip I have had in the area. The Tri-tip was cheat, and so was the rice. The chicken sandwich had zero condiments.. just chicken and bread. The garlic bread was the only bright spot in the meal. The Meat Locker is still BBQ king in Thousand Oaks.. And No.. I do not work for the Meat Locker.

Google
Disappointing experience. Minimum price per person will be $20+. Ordered the Tri-tip sandwich. Lots of meat but not tasty at all and difficult to chew. Couldn’t even cut it with their plastic knife. Won’t be going back.

Google
The barbecue beef ribs were terrible. There’ was no beat on the bone. They tried to compensate me by adding an extra bond, but still, it was really a joke. I would never order that again. The Tri trip was OK. The baked beans and the other sides were all very good but small. and their drink assortment was good But stay away from the barbecue beef ribs. And I thought it was quite expensive for what you actually get.

Yelp
Glad they opened a location closer to SFV! Original location is in Ventura and this is second location. Usually get the tri tip and hotlink combo which come with 3 sides (choice of bbq beans, chili beans, macaroni salad, coleslaw, potato salad) AND garlic toast. Have been to this location 3 times and Ventura location a few more times. Never been disappointed with the food! Always delicious and pretty good price for all you get. Good service as well. If you're interested in some bbq, stop in and bring your appetite!

Yelp
Found this spot on Yelp. Figured let's give it a shot since I'm in the area on Saturdays. Nice and clean location. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I went with the "Rice Bowl" which includes tri tip and veggies. It was delicious and it came with a good portion of tri tip. The tri tip was not dry or chewy. Very good subtle smoked flavor. Definitely not overly seasoned. I went with the spicy bbq. Let me tell you....it is indeed spicy. Had my starting to sweat so be cautioned. Maybe go with the 50/50 bbq first. I'm definitely coming back to this spot when in the area.

Yelp
Lunch time and really wanted to like this place. There's not a lot of options for decent BBQ in Thousand California. Tri Tip was OK. Good smoke ring, grey cold center. Needed more rub, more salt, more... Bbq flavor. No bark, no spice, just marginally salted. Sauce was unequivocally the worst. Canned product from a 1 gal jug and randomly seasoned with ... cumin? In this day and age, there's better out there. Cole slaw was from a premade container. Somewhat disappointed and disgusted all in one. Avoid entirely. There's no excuse not to make your own. Chili beans this flavor have zero place in a bbq restaurant. At least if you're going to empty a can of precooked beans into a container, leave it alone and not the random spice concoction that goes in. The Meat Locker is 3 blocks away.

Yelp
The tri tip is incredible here , this is the only spot I go to when I'm craving some good smoky bbq !! The char and smoke ring , the flavor and tenderness along with the bbq sauce it's just perfection !! I love the half spicy half regular bbq sauce it's spicy and sweet and delicious with the meat !!! The potato salad is my fav side dish here is perfectly balanced with creaminess , mustard and slight sweetness from the bell pepper pieces !! The garlic bread is huge and delicious perfectly toasted to go along with the meal!! Everything about this is just incredible I've been coming to the Ventura location for over a year and now the Thousand Oaks one is just as amazing !!!

Jenn D.

Yelp
I ordered three large chicken breasts, which were mild and spicy. The chicken had a pleasant kick. The sides were also good, particularly the delicious bread. I am pleased to have discovered a new restaurant that accommodates my dietary restrictions.

Yelp
I'm very happy to see this business expand from their roots in Ventura to Thousand Oaks. The venue is in a shopping center and has plenty of free parking. The inside has plenty of seats unlike their location in Ventura. The food is just as good as their original location and is the same price. I enjoyed my tri tip sandwich and my wife enjoyed her tri tip rice bowl. The service is also very good and makes it a nice weekend lunch or dinner outing. I highly recommend Busters to anyone wanting west coast tri tip.

Shawn G.

Yelp
I got the 6 meat sampler! Highly recommend, bang for your buck, good portion, service was quick, and quality of the food was the best bbq in the Thousand Oaks area.

Megan G.

Yelp
Tucked away on TO Blvd, this is a solid spot for BBQ if you're craving it like I was. I tried the 2 meat combo and was pleased with most of the meal. The macaroni salad was a bit of a miss for me--overcooked pasta and too much mayo. The coleslaw was average, nothing to write home about. However, the chili beans were good, especially when you add the tri tip. The garlic bread was huge, and next time, I'm definitely making a sandwich with it! The pork ribs and tri tip were well-cooked with solid flavors--tender and smoky just how BBQ should be. The 50/50 BBQ sauce was a standout for me: tangy, rich, and spicy, exactly how I like it. Service was good, and the ambiance was pleasant. The tables were clean, and you can enjoy your meal under the shade. I'll likely be back when my BBQ craving needs to be satisfied... again!

Chris M.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. Be sure to get the chili beans with your tri tip. And the portions are perfect.

Ron W.

Yelp
Seen this restaurant off the Blvd via walking by, today was the magical day of trying it out. They have been opened for about a month. That have menu of bulk cooked meats, dishes with meat choices $ sides, sandwiches or a rice bowl. Had the tri tip rice bowl with their veggies ( cabbage, broccoli, and carrots) and mild sauce, great portion of food, for $13. Generous portion of tri tip.Modification of baked beans or chili beans, available. Had a small side of macaroni salad, first bite I was very surprised on the rich flavor. Would order a larger size to take home, next time. Ordered hot link sandwich, thinking I'll be hungry after the bowl. I was full from the bowl but I had to take a bite of the sandwich.. Dude! The sandwich had great garlic toasted crunch with substantial amount of hot links. I also purchased a bottle of their BBQ sauce 50/50 . It has a zing to it,but not over powering. The sandwich was great the next day, fyi. The ambience was comfortable with tables of varied sizes. Plenty of parking. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable of their menu Would come back again.

Yelp
A great value when most places have become overpriced. Great tasting bbq and sides, we where very happy with the taste and quality of the meat and sides. Also, you get a lot of food for the price, basically we had enough left over to have it for dinner the next day. We loved the garlic bread and BBQ beans, really great. We at inside which was nice, clean and comfortable, and they have outside seating which looks nice and will try next time. We have TriTip and chicken and both were excellent. We are definitely coming back.

Carly M.

Yelp
Welcome to the Neighborhood Busters !! Thank you so much for opening here. I love BBQ & was so excited when I saw you were planning on opening up here. I have heard great things about about Busters from my Son who went to another location. I got the tri-tip plate with the 2 sides, beans & garlic bread. Delicious !! The tri-tip was cooked perfectly, not too raw, not over done. Tender, lean, with a perfect smoked ring along the edges. The mild BBQ sauce is really mild & very tasty. I got the potato salad & macaroni salad which were both excellent. I love the dill in the macaroni salad. Yay!! Finally some amazing BBQ found it's way onto TO Blvd.... I'll be back !!

Charles N.

Yelp
Ordered chicken bbq meal. Super juicy chicken! Half a chicken for one meal, one breast, thigh, wing and leg. 2 garlic bread, potato salad and Cole slaw and chili beans(I'd recommend you get the baked beans) You could probably split this between two people if you haven't skipped a meal that day. I actually ordered 2 of the meals. It's cooked fresh so there was a little wait ~20 min. This was in the afternoon. About 1pm. First time I've tried their food and I'll be back! Great tasting food for what you're paying for.

Roger Rabbit R.

Yelp
Stopped in here to see how they compare to the other local BBQ spot and I'm saddened that it did not hit the mark. I did like how you can taste the smoked wood on the meat but the flavor was lacking and was bland, the hot link was great and had a nice pop to it, the sides of macaroni and potato salads were great !! Might give this place another chance in a few months and hopefully they will make some adjustments.

Shawn E.

Yelp
I don't know if it's just me. The place was packed and nowhere to sit. My tri tip was super dry and so was the chicken. Both had great flavor and the spicy bbq was good. Not in a hurry to go back

Mark S.

Yelp
I know the place is new and I will be back but if you're gonna open, try harder. Tri tip was inconsistently cut thin and thick but really good Chicken, omg soooo bad like thin jerky Sausage ok, no ribs were available yet Sides were ok and in small containers Prices are very high.

Michael G.

Yelp
We first had a taste of Buster's BBQ when we had their tri-tip sandwich from the 805 Night Market and thought it was really good. Then I read mixed reviews about Buster's BBQ on Yelp but decided to try for myself. My wife and I decided to try their BBQ Sampler and I have to say that overall, their meat was pretty good and a good deal for about $40 since it came with 2 sides and garlic bread. The tri tip was excellent and the pork and beef ribs as well as the hot links were good and worth ordering again. The chicken came out a little dry but I sort of expected that when I saw they smoked boneless, skinless chicken breast sliced thin. The sampler included chicken leg and thigh also and those were good. Their BBQ was excellent and the frozen lemonade made our lunch complete especially since it was a hot day. I would go back to Buster's BBQ again and will probably just order their tri tip, pork and beef ribs and hot links the next we go back.

Fred S.

Yelp
Great food, good luck at that location. I had the ribs they were wonderful. Everything was great. Loved the bbq beans

Jessica R.

Yelp
Great BBQ! My family would stop again when we have games out this way! We also love the Ventura location. Food is consistently amazing.

Richard C.

Yelp
Pricy but worth it for sure. Food was legit bbq sauce is bomb too. Fast service to go. Will come back for the ambience of a bbq place . Kinda like the old bandits bbq from 10 years ago.

Rich S.

Yelp
The bbq sauce here is epic, I get the 50/50 mix cause it is spicy! The meat is cooked so well. The Mac salad is excellent. Love this place. I come here a couple times a month.

Sera L.

Yelp
I used to go to Buster's years ago. It was the best barbecue hands down. I was so excited to see they opened a location near me. I'm not sure what happened but this is not the Buster's I remember. The staff was a bunch of young kids, the tri-tip sandwich was disgusting. The tri-tip was tasteless and the barbecue sauce wasn't good. I wound up tossing it. Disappointing.

Randy V.

Yelp
Solid BBQ joint - much needed in thousand oaks. Beef ribs were a hit at the house! Kids loved the garlic bread and beans. Will definitely be visiting again

Daniel G.

Yelp
I want to start with the positive, the chili, garlic bread, and hot links were good. But I went there to have good smoked meat bbq. At this Thousand Oaks location no brisket, no pulled pork. Along with the hot links i ordered the pork ribs. As far as I can tell they were oven baked and no smoke on the ribs.

Jim M.

Yelp
All the food was great. I'll be going back. BBQ chicken meal was well made. BBQ Sauce is on spicy side but still good. I'll pick a lower heat level next time but that's me. :)

Lori Z.

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time tonight. We ordered tri-tip and hot link sandwiches. The hot sauce is truly hot and we liked it. The baked beans were tasty and the sandwich bread was fresh. The young woman at the register who helped us suggested the frozen lemonade, and it did not disappoint! It was so delicious that we took a to go order for lunch tomorrow.

Evan D.

Yelp
So happy to have Busters in our community! Food is off the charts delicious and the BBQ sauce is some of the best I've ever had - all about the 1/1 sauce. Friendly staff and nice ambiance.

Karen B.

Yelp
Great new bbq place on TO Blvd. 16.99 for tri-tip, garlic bread, beans and 2 sides. Frozen lemonade was delicious Bbq sauce 3 heat levels, Only downside. They are closing at 7:00, have no french fries or unsweetened iced tea. We will be back for sure

Charlyn Flores

Yelp
They also do provide sauces, I enjoyed my meal! Service was great and friendly, they maintain this place clean and I will definitely be back to try out more of their cooked meat options!

James H.

Yelp
California cursed meat. Overcooked yet still cold The crust on the tritip had a spike that went up into my gums and caused me a lot of pain for a few days. The sides they offer suck. The only good thing there was the frozen lemonade. However I will say the pieces of tri tip that were not overcooked (actually somewhat pink) were delicious and tender.

Barbara F.

Yelp
Our first time here, and we love it! We had the rib plate and tri tip plate. There was so much good food at such a reasonable price. I prefer the flavor of the meats and sauce over what other similar restaurants offer. Great service.

James W.

Yelp
The tri-tip sandwiches was very good. The mild Bbq sauce is very good. Service was quick. Didn't wait long. I hope you guys will consider making a family meal for very good price. We will return again Thank you.

Lucia R.

Yelp
I've had Buster's BBQ in Ventura at the original location and I've always loved it. It's a hit for me at the TO location. I picked up two dinner plates; Tri-Tip and Pork Ribs. The meats were cooked perfectly and the sides are always delicious! The chili beans and garlic bread is a must have: The cashier was fast and effective plus very friendly. The restaurant was very clean and the music was good. The menu is limited but it makes their staple items so much better. If they served beer, I would definitely be hanging out there and watching TV.

Steve H.

Yelp
Have frequented the Ventura location. Just tried the Thousand Oaks location. Food here is great and a great value. Always has!!

Debra S.

Yelp
I ordered half a rack of pork ribs, which unfortunately had very little meat on them, as well as small Cole slaw, which was really small. Service was good, however, but I was still pretty disappointed. Didn't feel it was a good value for the money too.

Adam H.

Yelp
I ordered the bone in chicken and it was dry and bland. The garlic bread had very little garlic on it. Not very good, underwhelming.

M K.

Yelp
Finally some good bbq in the area! Best tri tip sandwich i have ever had! I definitely recommend going here for a great meal.

Matt M.

Yelp
Opened around the corner from my house and wanted to try the new neighbor's place out. Portions are generous: For $28 I got a good slab of tri-tip (not a few slices), four full hot links, plus a double order of garlic bread, two macaroni salads and a drink. Definitely enough for two days worth of meals for this one guy, would be plenty even for a couple. Drink refills are free and the young woman at the counter even helped me set up a Wi-Fi hotspot so I could get some work done! Will definitely be back, maybe even as a regular since it's close by

Paul F.

Yelp
First time eating at Busters. One of the best tri tip sandwiches I've ever had. The tri tip was super tender and had great flavor. The sandwich roll was super soft, but toasted perfectly. I just wish they had French fries on their menu. I give this place 10

Ron B.

Yelp
Busters og BBQ is dynamite. Simple and easy. Service was a little slow but new place to be expected. Casual place to drop by and pig out.
