Buster’s - Review - Brixton - London - The Infatuation

"There are a lot of new burger places opening, but Buster’s—from the people behind Ploussard—are differentiating themselves with regular (not smashed) wagyu patties and glasses of pét-nat. The burger bar will be taking over the Brixton archway spot that was Other Side Fried. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Placed just off Brixton's bustling high street sits buster's, a minimalist, slick looking burger bar. I really like the design of the bar style seating along the full length glass panes looking out into Brixton. I went on a wednesday at 6pm and was the only one in the bar while I ordered and was waiting for my food, so given it was quiet, it was a shame that the table area was a bit dirty. The man who served me was very nice, and my food was prepared fresh, and taking just over 5 minutes for me to get my food. The music playing created a nice atmosphere, and a Lord Huron song played during my wait, which was a nice touch as Lord Huron were playing at the o2 Academy that night, and when I passed at 11pm (from leaving the concert) more Lord Huron was playing, but I would say the music was a bit loud when I was waiting inside. I had my food to takeaway, and the greaseproof paper used to wrap the burger was really good quality. I had a bacon cheeseburger, french fries, and a can of tango, which cost £18, which felt a bit expensive. The bun was a bit too soft, but that's the nature of brioche buns, the meat tasted nice but was a bit tough, but definitely not overcooked, so might be down to the cut of beef used. The bacon and cheese were nice, but the highlight was the green peppercorn dijonnaise on the burger base, it was delicious, adding a really nice umami and peppery flavour to the burger. The fries were a good portion, excellently seasoned and really crispy. I will caveat my review by saying that halfway through my meal I was rushed to finish it, as I wasn't allowed to eat in the queue of the gig I went to, so the detail on some things won't be as embellished as I'd like. Overall a tasty burger and fries, a major improvement of most fast food beef burgers, with my rating of 3/5 probably being a bit harsh, if I could I'd give 3.5/5, but quite expensive for what it is. If you're looking for a quick burger in Brixton and have money to spare, I'd go to buster's, but if you want to treat yourself to a nice burger (given the higher price point) I'd go to Black Bear.

I went there very early, at around 12.30-12.45 pm, therefore the place was empty, as it probably opens at around that time. I had the Buster burger and the dirty fries. My friend opted for the chicken burger and classic fries. My Buster burger was very good, so were the dirty fries. I did not taste the chicken burger but my friend ate it with gusto. As it was so early there was just 1 staff on duty, the cook who made the 2 burgers, both of them carefully prepared and respectfully cooked to perfection. I suspect the place will be buzzing during lunchtime and dinner, but I could not rate the atmosphere because it was just the 2 of us. I will definitely go back to try the bacon cheeseburger. Thank you

Decent burger, but pretty expensive for what it is. The burger and chips were £15 total. I got a glass of wine for £7, which was nice but tiny. They had literally no vegetarian options other than the chips, but my vegetarian friend brought in food from somewhere else and they didn't mind that. Anyway the burger and chips were good, and we sat down outside which was nice. I'd recommend this place if you just want to eat something quickly but you're not drunk enough for mcdonald's lol

Outstanding service and a good burger and fries, but one cheeseburger, fries and soda came to £17.50. Even in London, quite expensive for what it was. Probably wouldn’t be back based on the price, but couldn’t fault the service.

You can tell that these guys are talented chefs. This is elevated casual dining, and one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. Thick wagyu beef burgers, perfectly cooked, with melted cheese and a peppercorn dijonnaise. Make sure to get the cheese dipping sauce too 💪🏻

We used to order from here most Thursday evenings via the app from not far away at Craft bar. Every single time we order, they mess it up. Most times, they don’t register the order so you have to go and tell them you’ve made the order. Then they most often get the order wrong when delivered. The worst part is on 2 occasions, the app has somehow charged me multiple times and both times the staff vehemently told me they didn’t believe me and it wasn’t their problem - even though I showed them on my phone how I had been charged twice and on another occasion 3 times for one order. The first time this happened, I debated with the guy for about 20 mins before he agreed to making me a food order extra. He saw sense. The second time, he gave me a refund for 2 orders but not for the 3rd but then argued with me saying that I was lying and that it’s not his problem and he wouldn’t make me the food for the 3rd charge made on the app or give me a refund for it. They need to fix the app set up they have via Craft and have the mindset of customer service vs the customer is lying and wrong. We won’t be ordering from there again, and they’ve lost out on regular customers who spend £30-50 a week. And I’m still minus £31 from this place and they haven’t refunded me or would give me the food I ordered. It’s a shame because the burgers are decent, but the staff don’t care about customers - which would make me worry if they care about cleanliness and hygiene and other things that are important to customers.

We had buster burger, cheese fries, chicken burger and regular fries. Decent fast food. Chicken was generous but too much sauce for my taste, i will ask for less next time. Weird empty vine as you order via a screen and there appeared to be no one around. But a guy I had taken to be a punter stepped behind the counter and made the food. It was hot, prices were decent, place was clean and the staff member was polite and friendly (not always easy to find in Brixton). It does what it says on the tin

Buster's? Or bust your bubble? Placed an order to be delivered to Craft Beer Co in Brixton and they never delivered or called to reach out about it. Waited over an hour and attempted to call multiple times with their phone not on and working. I was not refunded and my food never came. I feel like I have them a donation.
