Butcher & Brew is an American gastro sports bar. This new location inside Halcyon Forsyth is their second one in Alpharetta. I haven't been to the first location, but have been to this one twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. It has a nice laid back atmosphere and casual, industrial decor. Both times we were seated immediately, despite them being busy on a Friday night.
The menu is simple. One side lists wings, starters, bowls, salads, sandwiches, and a handful of sides. The other side has a list of cocktails, wine, beer, and more.
Between the two visits, I tried the following:
Popcorn (complimentary)
Black bean hummus $9
Fried cauliflower $8
Truffle parmesan fries $8
Asian bowl $10
Paleo bowl $10
Smokey bandito $10
The apps are great! I didn't see the hummus on the menu at my last visit, but I thought it was unique (see photo) and creamy. Served with pita bread and raw veggies. The cauliflower was covered in spices and came with chicharon and a side of ginger chili aioli. The truffle parmesan fries were loaded with freshly grated parmesan and drizzled with dijonaise.
Both Asian and paleo bowls have good starch to vegetable ratio. Three of the four bowls are vegetarian with the option of adding chicken, shrimp, or salmon. I chose not to add more protein since both bowls already come with an egg, and the paleo comes with bacon though I opted for none. I found the bowls to be flavorful and plenty filling without added protein!
My husband ordered the nopsi, which is a fried shrimp sandwich with avocado, tomato, cole slaw, and remoulade. He loved it! We also enjoyed the cocktails we tried. The smokey bandito was exactly that, smokey and very tasty.
Service was great during the first visit, but inconsistent on the second. It was on a busy friday night on their first couple weeks of reopening. The staff was probably overwhelmed but remained pleasant. They wore masks and seated customers within 5-6 feet from each other. Looking forward to trying more items on the menu!
