Napa Has Changed, Butter Cream Bakery Has Not | Bon Appétit

"A pink-and-white-striped beacon of sugar and caffeine on a four-lane strip in the heart of Napa, California, this longtime bakery-and-diner has been baking everything in-house since the 1940s. Glass cases are crammed with apricot danishes, pink-glazed doughnuts (notably maple-glazed enough to ‘hurt your teeth’), brightly colored birthday cakes, bear claws, and jam-filled scones, while the diner side delivers classic comfort — perfect eggs, hash browns, grilled cheese with fries, bacon, and endless coffee and tea served in small pink plastic pots. The counter attracts ball-capped longtime regulars alongside weekending urbanites in designer sunglasses, and despite Napa’s gentrification the fluorescent-lit breakfast tables and old-school, reliably comforting atmosphere make it a cherished neighborhood refuge." - ByKira Garcia

Google
White Chantilly cake was a wonderful, light last minute birthday cake. The pink one has buttercream and the white has whipped. I didn’t realize it contained a custard layer inside. Everyone enjoyed it.

Google
Heard alot of great things about ButterCream. My husband stopped and grabbed some and brought them home. They were OK. I had the cinnamon roll it was very very dry. But I do not turn away from a donut even a dry one that's what coffees for. Lol. I will try them again.

Google
The cinnamon French toast is so nasty and so wet in the middle from the fake egg yolk they use. Would not recommend. Service is not good . Waiter at by the kitchen is rude .

Google
OMG this place was a little bit nostalgia paired with beautiful bakery goods and a fantastic old style diner with a little ‘greasy spoon’ (well broken in grill)…. Waitstaff was on point and makes me miss my favorite spot back home that closed after a lifetime of feeding the community…. The roots run deep here and I’m glad we found it!

Google
this is the baja breakfast.. it was delish.. now a lot of food. that little ( not little) long John we call it, is a maple bacon donut.. OMG! STUPID GOOD! the atmosphere is so old diner vibe outta the 60s. beautifully kept up . the service was amazing. coffee was so life saving.. mmmm. it was good not bitter but strong. perfect balance. ( I'm picky about coffee) enjoy! we did!

Google
Classic diner, amazing food good prices, and the bakery goods are unbelievable! No, we had eggs and split biscuits and gravy quite possibly the best ever.

Google
Nice ambiance and very retro look to this classic diner. The food was good. I had the daily special. Some white sauce ontop of toast and some minced meet. Other guests recommended to add a lot of salt and pepper to make it more palatable. I think I am okay if I only have this once in my life. The bakery section was fantastic and everyone enjoyed the danishes we bought. Would recommend the place, just stay with the regular breakfast menu items.

Google
Better get there early this place fills up fast. This is standard American cuisine, no frills - eat-and-git. Carol was my server did good job making sure the coffee was filled. The eggs and hash browns were very good. The bacon for my tastes was over cooked and dry, the biscuits and gravy was (personally) a bit bland. I think I would have been better off with just the biscuits without the gravy as the texture and flavor seen right on. Coffee was strong but not put hair on your chest strong.

Yelp
We had locals to tells us about this place. We love the hometown diner feel. We sat at the bar and were welcomed by a friendly server. Breakfast was great as well as the service. When we arrived we checked out the bakery to see what we wanted to take with us. They were sold out of apple fritters by the time we finished breakfast. I enjoyed a lemon filled donuts topped with fine Crushed walnuts. Something I have never had before surprisingly very good. Diner and bakery were reasonably priced. Breakfast was cheaper than going through Jack in the box drive thru. Highly recommend! Enjoy

Yelp
This is a nice, quaint restaurant with a genuine 1960's look and feel. It was crowded withe not a low of tabkes when we arrived, but our party of 6 was still seated in less than 10 minutes. Throughout our meal, the diner was consistently full of happy customers. Our server was friendly and attentive, explaining some of the items and making recommendations. We ordered Sausage and Eggs, French Toast, and Chicken Fried Steak. I asked for the crispy fried potato pancakes which were delicious! The Chicken Fried Steak was crispy and tender. The sausage was delicious. The French Toast was thin, but otherwise good. The diner has a bakery inside. This was actually why we came. The selection of donuts was amazing. The donuts were fantastic and worthy of the trip! Overall, we loved this place! The food was great and in good portions. The donuts were delicious. The servers were on top on their game. We will definitely return!

Yelp
Looks were deceiving the sweets looked so good but honestly I think they have been sitting a while. They had a stale refrigerator taste. The cookie had a weird food taste like it didn't taste like a cookie. The cupcakes were so dry. I was so sad because everything looked so amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Horrible customer service! Ordered a cake in person and they completely botched the order. No offer to remake the cake or refund. Was asked to bring the cake back to try and fix which didn't work with our timeline so they apologized but there's nothing that could be done. Another example of poor customer service at it's finest

Yelp
My husband grew up in Napa and says Butter Cream was always where they got birthday cakes. We live in the "alphabet streets" a short walk away. The cakes are good. The doughnuts are good. The croissants are average. We've had breakfast at the diner once. It is a traditional American diner. He ambiance is a 1950s vibe. Cute place. Service is fine.

Yelp
Service is always friendly and very engaging. The food is also good with the classic diner feeling. The staff always seems to be engaging and enthusiastic when talking to everyone dining. I just love the atmosphere very welcoming like everyone knows you.

Yelp
I only found about this place by no other than scrolling on Tik Toc. This review is solely on the bakery as I didn't eat at the diner. I will hopefully make another visit to experience the diner as it gives the old diner vibes. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by the employee and have several display cases of pasties and baked goods to choose from (cupcakes, cookies, muffins, cakes, and donuts). The whole cakes looked amazing and was disappointed that they didn't have cakes slices available at this visit. I will try the coconut cake in a future visit. After several minutes of contemplation we chose a chocolate custard eclairs, carrot cupcake, and two iced cutout cookies. I was expecting to pay $20, as that's pretty common these days for pastries but to my surprise the total came to $13.75, a very reasonable price. Of the items ordered the eclair was good with tons of custard and chocolate buttercream frosting on top (I prefer chocolate ganache on my eclairs). The carrot cupcake was moist and a great cream cheese frosting. The disappointment comes with the iced cutout cookies. They looked really good but did not taste good and ended up in the trash. The cookie was hard and had no flavor. The icing I would think is royal icing and not at all my favorite. I will skip the cookies next time but there is plenty of other treats to enjoy.

Yelp
Butter Cream Bakery is a classic diner/pastry shop that's been open since 1948. My wife and I stopped in here for a delicious breakfast. There's a long counter on the left and you can tell this is a favorite of locals. You can either sit down for something to eat or get takeout from their large donut and pastry selection. I ordered a single pancake and an almond croissant. My wife had the cinnamon French toast. The food along with the coffee was delicious. I know if I lived around here, I'd be back all the time for those pastries and donuts! Our server had a great sense of humor and the signs on the walls are very funny. Definitely a fun breakfast stop!

Maite B.

Yelp
Horrible customer service I called about a cake and wow are they rude. Right away I am met with attitude. I asked about ordering a cake and understood they don't do same day cake orders. She I'm told me I could purchase the ones made but there wouldn't be any decorations. That's fine I didn't want decorations just wanted it to say happy birthday. She had such an attitude and said depends if someone is here that can write what time would we come by. I told her maybe around lunch time and even ruder this time was like what time. At that point I was so put off by the whole interaction I told her I'd pass along the info and hung up.

Yelp
A Napa staple, but wait a second here.... Since when are the Dutch Crunch rolls seasonal???? Who in this town walks around saying, "I can't wait until it's Dutch Crunch season!!" My bread loving MIL is rolling in her urn....

Marc A.

Yelp
Worst customer service in all my life. Never coming back here. The supervisor did not even do anything to correct my order. Unprofessional and rude! You shouldn't be in a customer service if you cant satisfy or correct an order from a customer. Such a shame.

Yelp
Just what we wanted. Pancakes were great with blueberry and maple syrup. The portions are huge and good to share. The biscuits are large and great to use as a sandwich. The history and general vibe is so much fun.
google avatar

Yelp
My family has been coming to this bakery to get donuts since I was a little girl! The smell of freshly baked goods as you walk in is nostalgic, and makes your mouth water instantly. The service is always quick too. If you're a fan of maple bars, they have the best around!
google avatar

Yelp
I visit butter cream every time I'm in Napa. The selection of baked goods is a little overwhelming because it's so hard to choose everything looks so good. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. I only wish butter cream was closer to my home in Vacaville.

Yelp
Great authentic Diner with excellent service. Great counter service. Fresh baked goods. Best Old Fashioned donut this side of the Mississippi.

Yelp
Been here 2x in the past month just for pastries, I haven't dined in yet but it looks like they have American diner food. They have a ton of solid bakery classics. Donuts, muffins, cupcakes, cake by slice. I love their donuts and pink champagne cake! Brought the donuts and cake to work and everyone loved them! They are known for that cake and it is good. It's chiffon cake with champagne custard(?), and buttercream frosting. I believe the white version of the cake has whipped cream instead of buttercream. A worker told me she likes the Napa Valley Wine Cake so I'll try that next! Will be coming back!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for months! Unfortunately we arrived just as the diner side was closing so we could not get lunch but we got a glazed cruller (my favorite donut), three slices of champagne cake, a blueberry scone and a custard filled eclair. The scone and one slice of the cake were gifts for my friend so I did not try the scone but it was large and clearly filled with many berries and looked great. The champagne cake was extraordinarily light and fluffy and the frosting and custard were delicious. The cruller went first in two big bites so no picture sorry! The eclair was great the pastry was firm not soggy and the frosting and custard were very good and not overwhelmingly sweet. Can't wait to go back and get a meal with my pastries next time! Parking is easy and the 75 year old history of the business and its decor is charming and welcoming

Yelp
I went to buttercream bakery and had a nice breakfast I never seen so many customers in my life but it's absolutely worth it I've gotten the steak and eggs which is excellent I put a little bit of A1 steak sauce on it it was really good I enjoy it there and buttercream bakery has been there as long as I can remember I used to go in there as a little boy cuz I knew the owner and he would give me a cookie for nothing I spending nap a long time so if you want to good tasting coffee and a nice hot breakfast I suggest you go to buttercream bakery it's busy but there's a reason why they're busy

Yelp
Best place to get donuts in town for the price. Never tried any of their other treats

Yelp
I love the Old school danish Old school everything, breakfast was enjoyable but skip the coffee

Yelp
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. If you want to be cussed at, come on in and lied to come on in and visit this woman. She claims to own the establishment. She personally attacked me for asking for a managers card. She embarrassed herself in from of other customers. Leading to a horrible experience and ambiance.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute and quaint diner and bakery, with super friendly staff, delicious, fluffy pancakes and plentiful plates of food for reasonable prices. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
For a small town diner and bakery, buttercream is good. i stopped in and got 1/2 dozen donuts for approximately $16. i got the lemon filled, raspberry filled, maple bar, cinnamon roll, and maple donut. the jelly filled donuts are too sweet for my taste. my favorite is the maple bar with generous maple topping. service was pleasant. i was greeted with smile and given assistance but i felt a little rushed because they are pressed to serve a lot of people. the place can get busy with the diner and bakery.

Cathy C.

Yelp
The donut/pastry selection is amazing!! We visit Napa a couple times a year and always make time to stop by this place; the best donuts in Napa!
google avatar

Mayra D.

Yelp
Please don't go here unless you want to receive bad customer service. I went to have breakfast with my bf here, since he never had dine in for breakfast at Butter Cream. It is a very small spot to eat and can get easily crowded and I understand as to why that could overwhelm a server. We were waiting for our turn and got seated with such ATTITUDE! Decided to disregard it to make the experience better for my boyfriend. Unfortunately our waiter (lady around her late 40s) seemed so disengaged while taking our order and basically snatched the menus once we ordered. Brought our food and just plopped it and left. Brought our check so fast before we were even done eating. Her whole demeanor was rude and not ok. Spoke to others about my experience to then hear that butter cream treats their customers like crap and specifically the lady I mentioned.

Yelp
A true Napa local diner - it has all the nostalgic feels, good prices, and long wait if you arrive too late on the weekend! Aesthetic - 7/10 Older building, original decor that needs a bit of love and pampering to restore its glory. Not too much to look at but hey, its a diner! Staff - 6/10 This is really where Butter Cream loses points for me. The staff seemed super unhappy to be there the morning we arrived. One would not smile at us (or anyone) and seemed overall quite annoyed to be helping anyone. I get it, the service industry is a rough place but that is also not how a customer wants to be treated on a weekend morning! Our Order: - Omlette - HUGE, could easily serve two people! Tasty but needs some TLC with hot sauce. Biscuits are so good! - Two egg any style plate - Also HUGE! Easy, classic breakfast. No complaints here! - Mickey Mouse pancakes - What more could a 6 year old want?! Worth a stroll in, but definitely come before 9am on a weekend, otherwise you'll be waiting in a very cramped space for a long time.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Napa Valley, California. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing - everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had the breakfast with French toast, sausage. Omelette was amazing too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
First time here, like stepping back in time, a classic diner feel. The menus are fun and very 50's styled design, and it's got a great selection of dishes. We sat at the counter to get the diner vibe. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet with home fries and rye toast. It was delicious, full of ham and egg was nice and firm, good fries and the rye toast was just that. Service was excellent. Very happy with the meal and I definitely recommend it. When we arrived the bakery was pretty stocked and by the time we left, it wasn't so I'd recommend getting donuts to take home before you have breakfast!

Janelle B.

Yelp
Best maple bard on the planet! And the entire menu is great and the service is always fantastic!

Yelp
I've tried goodies from Butter Cream Bakery several times over the years, mostly from potlucks from work since I work in Napa County. The other morning was the first time I've been there in person, and I had a great experience! First off, like yelpers have said, get there early! I was there at 7:45 on a Friday morning, and there already were a bunch of people in line! Not quite out the door, but close. I was there for the bakery, which is on the left side. The diner is on the right side, and they were getting full as well. As far as the bakery goes, you pick a number and wait for it to be called. I had to wait for about 10 minutes, nothing too crazy. I wound up getting a chocolate buttercream cake, which was super yum! We were actually too excited to eat it, and I wound up forgetting to take a pic. Fail, lol! I also got a dozen assorted donuts to go, which were realllly great as well! And as far as customer service goes, the lady that helped me was super friendly and informative! I had a great experience and look forward to coming back again!
google avatar

Arlene R.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. I called in to inquire about the cost of champagne cake. Woman answered the phone was so rude. We drove an hour to the bakery. Thinking the person who answered the phone was having a bad day. To find out that the woman who helped us at the counter was equally rude. She didn't even know the price or their products and was very impatient. Needless to say we won't be returning. Their baked good are quite good. But their customer service needs some help!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious. Bacon biscuits potatoes cakes toast and donuts. Definitely our new breakfast spot when we hit Napa.
google avatar

Yelp
A Napa institution with fair prices excellent service and fine quality baked goods. One could spend more - lots more - but why? Our last purchase of a champagne cake was so smooth and of course it tasted delicious

Yelp
Changed a lot over the 30 years we've been going there. But still a must when I the area. Nice diner experience as well as yummy sweets.

Yelp
My brother-in-law and sister took me here for breakfast a couple of months ago. According to my brother-in-law, Butter Cream has the best dounts in the Napa area. He said there's usually a long line in the mornings. There's a bakery portion and also an old school diner. I love nostalgic diners, they're my favorite kind of restaurants! I ordered a hot chocolate which was yummy! I also got their Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs $14.99 which I got with hash browns and biscuits. It's really a lot of food and more than enough for leftovers. Great place to come for a bakery treat or breakfast in Napa!

Tamara C.

Yelp
A local favorite! Took my family here for breakfast last time they were in town and everyone had a wonderful time, picking a doughnut, watching the bakers in the bakery. One of the bakers drew a picture for the kids that made them giggle. The staff were great, quickly putting a table together for our large party, fast and friendly. The atmosphere was great for playing I-spy with the grandkids!
google avatar

Yelp
Horrible experience. We drove from a different city to have breakfast here. First we arrive and they say we can sit anywhere. We choose a half booth and half table and we were today that there was only two of us and this table was for four. We say ok and move no more than 5 mins later a Caucasian couple comes and sits at the same table we were asked to move from and they split the table for it was for two. We were definitely racially profiled due to us being an interracial couple. We order coffees a few mins later and then my husband asks for more French vanilla creamer. The waitress grunts and looks at the next tables. Never returns with creamers and whispers something to our server. I ask my server for fresh coffee because my coffee tastes burnt. She tells me we make coffee all the time and it's fresh. And snatches my coffee off of the table. Doesn't make a fresh pot only pours from a different pot. It was clearly a problem that we were there. So we got up and left. I will not be returning. I understand this is Napa. It's already a racism town and apparently today they lived up to their reputation.

Yelp
Affordably priced by wine country standards Butter Cream Bakery has been part of Napa since 1948, their Donuts originally garnering attention before Bobbi and David Closs expanded to Cakes, Cookies, Breakfast, Lunch and Diner fare. Pink and white striped from the start, glass cases near the entrance displaying dozens of Baked Goods, it is now under the ownership of son Gerry that the Jefferson Street landmark serves guests daily even though the local Food scene has evolved. Homey with friendly service, six Donuts plus a "Black & White Cookie" that eats like Hardtack less than $10, suffice it to say that there's nothing artisan about Buttercream's fried Dough and although Yeast rings and bars are competent the Old Fashioned selections are dry while Crullers lack their characteristic egginess.

Mikey K.

Yelp
Just picked up the tiniest, stale donut holes from Buttercream. They feel like they are bought in bulk from a bakery supply and not made in house. I couldn't bring them home so I ran across town to Happy Donuts and their's are at least double in size, fresh and hot. I weighed them and 1 dozen from Happy Donut weighs more than 3 dozen from Buttercream. Take a look at the photo.

Yelp
We came on Sunday about 10. Crowded but the wait was short. The staff was nice. Our breakfast was great. I got the bacon and eggs with sourdough toast and potato pancakes. Kids for the chocolate chip pancakes and hubs got the Baja chorizo omelette with quacamole, tomatoes and sour cream. Big portions. We left with a box of baked goodies! Cookies, cupcakes and doughnuts. Delicious!

Yelp
Couldnt get anyone to answer the phone Wednesday so I drove across town to order a cake in person. I went out of my way to drive back over there to pick up the cake this morning. Get home, stick my finger in the icing. We ordered whipped cream, this is buttercream. I call and ask for a 50% discount because now I am going to have to buy some grocery store cake on the way to the birtbday party in Concord. They say no, demand I bring the cake back to be fixed and it will "only" take 15-20 minutes... ok well I dont have that kind of time to drive back over there and wait etc etc. Roumd trip that will actually be AN HOUR. Wally says too bad, so sad. But, her manager can call me later. Phone rings 2 minutes later and the person that handed me the cake at the store is on the line to chew me out that they didnt do anything wrong and they always use buttercream on a themed cake. I say the kids wont eat buttercream and that the lady when I ordered the whipped cream should have explained that there would still be a significant amount of buttercream on it. We normally get a cake without decoration so how would I know that?!?! We have ordered from them every year for like 10 years and never had an issue. I am not a baker and if I was I would have made my own cake! To be treated as if a) I should be burdened even further by a cake they cant even reuse is INSANE and b) to be treated luke I should have the knowledgr of some.CIA trained pastry chef about frosting types is ridiculous. I didnt ask for a full refund, just 50%. No, according to them, I am the idiot and I should be the one running around for THEIR mistake. They could have made this right and I would be buying cake for 10+ more years. Instead we will go elsewhere and I will have already contacted the bank for a chargeback in the full amoumt instead of the half they could have just issued.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to trying this place because it looked like such a classic bakery with the pink and white decor and glass bakery display case. Got a selection of pastries and donuts on a recent trip to Napa and was disappointed in them. I hope their dine in food is much better. And I know they are known for donuts but I didn't like the ones we got. I had a pastry with cranberry and cream cheese icing and it was too sweet. The other pastries were not really touched by my family.

John S.

Yelp
Horrible experience... ordered cookies for our sons's 3rd birthday. Spoke several times requesting them to be individually wrapped. I picked them up and noticed when I got home they were not wrapped. I called, they seemed accommodating over the phone and I drove them back down. The woman at the counter said that the ordered had been complete and she refused to wrap them. Couldn't they have said that over the phone? The cookies do not look the same quality as the individual ones at the counter. Would have expected a higher quality for the price and quantity I purchased. Very poor experience, never ordering from here again.

Yelp
3 1/2 stars. Great pancakes! Terrible waffle. Small diner and bakery. Atmosphere is clean, classic 50's style diner. Pleasant service. Self-serve coffee station set up so you can fill-up your coffee on your way out. Nice touch. And while the coffee isn't what you'll get from a coffee shop, it is better than most diner coffee. I was happy with it. I ordered cinnamon-apple waffle with 2 scrambled eggs and 2 sausage patties. The eggs were cooked well with Jack cheese mixed in. They were good. I took a chance on the sausage patties because I never know if they will have that great, traditional breakfast seasoning or not, so I usually go with bacon. But the bacon looked thin so I got the patties. YES! They were exactly what I hoped for and more because they were a bit bigger. TASTY! So the egg and sausage patties together were perfect. Unfortunately the waffle was terrible. Dry. No flavor to speak of. The apple-cinnamon compote was fine but I'm not a fan of that gel like style compote anyway so had it put on the side. Even drenched in butter and syrup the waffle was unsaveable. I had 2 bites and set it aside. Good thing hubby had pancakes! His short stack came with 2 generous sized pancakes. Plenty for us to share. And they were perfect! Classic, fluffy buttermilk pancake. If that's what you crave, these will hit the spot! He also had the bacon - 3 regular slices. Classic bacon, not exceptional. He had a sunny side egg and hashbrowns and was very satisfied with them. Said they were perfectly cooked. He definitely enjoyed them! The biscuit was buttery but not flaky, and not memorable. Bakery has donuts, cakes, cupcakes and assortment of cookies. Standard fare, except I didn't see any chocolate or oatmeal raisin cookies. Kind of surprising that a bakery doesn't make an exceptional waffle nor biscuit. But the pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage patties and eggs hit the spot. If that's what you want, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Customer service is really bad. It is really important for people to know how they treat their customers. They do not accommodate those with disabilities. After requesting another server due to poor service and discrimination they refused and told us if we didn't want to be served by that particular waitress to move or leave. This was told to us by not only the waitress, but the general manager and also by the owner . The owner even laughed and made a joke about it. Very unprofessional. We ended up leaving after the general manager raised her voice, yelled and ordered us to leave all due to us requesting to be served by someone other than the rude lady that was serving us. Also Everyone that we encountered refused to give us their name. I wouldn't recommend eating here due to the people who work and run this place. I have never been treated so poorly at any other establishment in my whole entire life. It was bad. Worse customer service experience that we've ever encountered.

Yelp
I can order raspberry filled Ganage cupcakes but not white raspberry cupcakes because they can't stress out their 20 year cake decorater with a special order? Really people? It's for a memorial service ordered well in advance . Not impressed with Rosa or Hailey.

Bill B.

Yelp
Great bakery and breakfast place. Natasha is an excellent server. Delicious old school bacon and eggs. Great pancakes. And no avocado toast - thank god. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I can't believe how bad the service is here. They also don't know how to cook eggs. It took 10 eggs to finally get my egg right. Sunny-Side-Up Eggs. Sunny-side-up is one of the most recognizable styles of eggs. ... Over-Easy Eggs. This is an easy one. ... Over-Medium Eggs. Over-medium eggs are cooked slightly longer than over-easy eggs. ... Over-Hard Eggs. Over-hard eggs are the final evolution of the fried egg. ...

Yelp
Came here for breakfast this past Saturday and it was really disappointing. I had very fond memories of eating here several times when I lived in Napa and when I came back for a visit, my husband suggested we come here. We sat at the counter and even though it was only about half full--it was obvious that the server was completely overwhelmed. On top of that, she was training someone and had to deal with endless questions from that person. After an interminable wait, she took our order and got our drinks out to us pretty quickly. After that, crickets....others at the counter were also kept waiting and she was helping what were obviously 'regulars' since she knew their orders but the rest of us were basically left hanging. In fact, it took so long, that I got up and went to the bakery counter and bought a couple of pastries. When our food finally arrived, my hash browns were totally underdone and my husband's waffle was still raw inside. She tried to blame the strawberry topping, but when we cut a piece off another spot that didn't have any topping and showed her how gooey it was, she made a face and said, 'Fine'. My husband ordered a denver omelet instead and that came out only okay. We ate what we could and just figured we'd never come back. There was a couple sitting next to me watching everything and the lady said, 'Geez, is this the best place we could've gone to?' and her husband said something I didn't hear, but she shrugged. By the time we left, they still didn't have their food and were looking pretty mad. The Buttercream Bakery used to have such a great reputation and it's sad to see how downhill it's gone.
