I stopped by the microbakery stand on a Saturday morning. It's basically a cake vending machine in the yard of a private residence (presumably the bakery owner's). You purchase slices by scanning a QR code and paying on your phone, which causes the door to automatically unlock, allowing you to retrieve your slices. It relies on an honor system, trusting that you won't take more than you purchased.
The cake is heavenly. It's difficult to recommend a favorite flavor given that they rotate weekly, but I'm confident that anything you choose will be delicious. The cake is perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and paired with smooth, light frosting that enhances without overpowering.
That being said, the slices aren't that big and they go for 12 bucks a pop. Whether that's worth it to you depends on how much you value really good cake.
I wish the pickup process was a little easier. I arrived about 20 minutes before opening and there were already a few people lined up. Since the slices seem to sell out every day, I didn't have much of a choice. It would be really nice to be able to pre-order slices and just pick them up at a set time, guaranteeing that they'll be available. Though, given the operation's popularity, there's no real reason for the owner to change it up at this point.
In summation, excellent cake, if a bit expensive, and an inconvenient pickup process, but still an overall positive experience.
