The Best Doughnut Shops in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Everything at this tiny Outer Richmond bakery is made, as the name suggests, with love and butter by Esa Yonn-Brown and husband Josh Perez. The couple met while in San Francisco City College’s hotel and restaurant program, and then settled in the neighborhood, where they opened their shop in early 2016. Though they’re best known for sweet and savory pies, Butter Love’s array of yeasty doughnuts might just as well be the stars, including seasonal pumpkin spice and apple cider." - Dianne de Guzman

If you’re a fan of delicious pastries and charming atmospheres, look no further. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the sweet scent of freshly baked goods and the cozy, inviting decor. It’s the kind of place you can’t help but smile when you walk through the door. The pastries here are nothing short of extraordinary. I tried the Nutella filled donut and it was a perfect balance of flaky, buttery layers and just the right amount of sweetness. Each bite was pure bliss, and you could tell that everything is made with love and high-quality ingredients. The variety is impressive too — from light and delicate to indulgently rich, there’s something for every craving. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always happy to offer recommendations or a friendly chat while you choose your treats. The shop itself has a cozy charm with a few seats where you can enjoy your pastries and coffee, making it the ideal spot for a quick pick-me-up or a relaxing afternoon break. It’s clear that this shop takes pride in what they do. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t regret it — this little gem is one I’ll be returning to often!

Google
Butter Love Bakeshop is absolutely delightful! The croissant I had was amazing—perfectly flaky, buttery, and everything you’d hope for in a classic pastry. You can tell the quality and care that goes into their baked goods. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it an even better experience. Whether you’re grabbing something to go or sitting down to enjoy your treat, this place is a must-visit for pastry lovers. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Google
I love this little bakery. I often walk my dogs to the Golden Gate dog park and then walk up 39th St. to Balboa make a right and either stop at laundromat or at butter love bakery. Usually butter love bakery wins out. And I get myself a delicious pastry and coffee. Today I picked up an Ube and coconut croissant. The sweetness was delicate and tasted of butter and crisp delights. I totally recommend.

Google
Genuinely the best chicken pot pies I’ve ever had. My partner and I both ordered one each at first, then promptly ordered a second round right after finishing the first. We also got almond butter pie and sweet potato pie, which were both fantastic. Had a little patio in the back to eat at, and the workers were all super sweet!

Google
Went here at 8pm on a Friday and they were selling late night cookies 🍪! Signage says they’re also open from 5-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays for cookies. Cookies can come warmed, and they’re both crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle. Love the concept, and am so glad there’s a different dessert option on Balboa!

Google
Decent overall; way better than the previous tenant service wise. Pies, quiches, and galettes were good, breakfast biscuit sandwiches could’ve been better (the baked egg thing they do was odd and tasted diluted). Pies tasted homemade and way better then anything at a supermarket. Coffee was indeed very bad here like other reviewers have mentioned.

Google
Passed by and saw the long line decided to give a try. Nice customer service and lots of options to choose from. I got the bread pudding and croissant. Both taste delicious, personally I like the bread pudding more. Will definitely come back here again if we are in the area and recommend this location for bakery

Google
Cute little neighborhood bakery with exceptionally bad coffee. I think it’s forgivable considering the quality of their baked goods though. We got a whole banquet of stuff that I won’t even get into. The highlights were definitely the pumpkin loaf, ube cupee(?), and the cookies. We did also get a ham and cheese something or another that was pretty disappointing - for the most part it was just dense, wet pastry that managed not to taste like anything at all. We showed up at 2pm and a lot of the items that looked good were sold out by the time we got there. Overall pretty good, and nothing was terrible by any means... except for the coffee. I can’t stress how bad that coffee is. Don’t get the coffee.

Yelp
My family absolutely cannot get enough of the pies from this place. We're thoughtful eaters and sometimes find traditional renditions of western favorites a little overwhelming (too heavy, to salty, to sweet!). Never so with the pies from Butter Love. Every month for the past two years we've ordered multiple whole pies to go and have never been disappointed. Our favorites include: 1.) The Chicken Pie. Somehow, this pie has convinced everyone in my family that it's at once comfort food AND health food. The crusts are light and crisp and flavorful without ever once feeling heavy. The filling is absolutely stuffed with flavorful lean white meat (how?!) and silky potatoes and peas. 10/10, this pie is a miracle. Every time my dad eats it, he's sits back in his chair and says "WOW this lady can BAKE!" 2.) The butterscotch pie, which is the perfect balance of sweet and bitter and smoothed out with a fluffy whipped cream topping. It goes down so smooth I have this fantasy that I get to eat one whole pie all by myself (but it's a fantasy because everyone else also gets "just one more slice" syndrome.) 3.) The butter pie, which is just bite after bite of gooey, chewy, bittersweet decadence. (The holiday version of the butter pie, which has all sorts of apple-cider-style spices in it, is even more delicious but its seasonal. This is fine; waiting on deliciousness just makes it more delicious.) Some tips: - Order ahead! Like a busy Marie Callender's from the 90's, the pies you want may not be around on the day you happen to swing by the bakery, so be sure to check the menu in advance and order a day ahead to ensure you get the flavor you want. - Pies freeze great! In the magical off-chance that some parts of the pie survive dinner, OR if you think "I'd like a pie but I'm just one human how could I possibly order a whole chicken pie for myself?" I've discovered that leftover pie slices freeze great. Just wrap them up in foil or cling wrap, put them in a ziploc, and pop them in the freezer. Thaw the day you want them. Instant meal prep! - Craving a pie that's not on the menu? Once after calling ahead we asked if the baker could make a chocolate satin pie. She very graciously agreed. She's world class at what she does so... yes, the pie was amazing. Esa, if you're reading this, thank you. We're so lucky to have you in our neighborhood. :)

Yelp
Stopped by here while roaming on Balboa Street. We looked through the window and I got pulled in by the scones! I love fruit scones, but, being so late in the day, the only ones they had were a strawberry white chocolate chip scone and savory ones. I definitely prefer sweet scones, but for some reason, I prefer fruits with nuts and no chocolate, white or otherwise! Alas, I couldn't leave without purchasing something since the guy at the counter was so nice and personable, so I got enticed into buying a chocolate chip cookie. Wow, it was still slightly warm and so delicious! It was $4, but it was a fantastic delight to my day! I'm sure I'll stop by again when I'm out wandering, but I hope I get there early enough to sample more of what they have!

Yelp
Monkey Bread- Very dry with no flavor or sweetness Ham n Cheese crossiant- buttery crossiant with a tiny morsel ham in it Strawberry Coconut donut- had good texture but was bland. I hate to trash local businesses but if they try to add some flavor and sweetness to their pastries I think they could survive. It's a one and done for me too many better options

Yelp
I ate my ham and cheese croissant before I took a picture of it. It was epic. Truly. The butter, the flakes, the yum. The line was short, but slow. I think the counter person was new because they didn't know their products. It doesn't matter. Everything in the window looked amazing. I want to try the chicken pot pie next.

Yelp
Bike riding through the neighborhood and decided to stop by for some pastries. Wish they placed signs to note the items in the display. There is a sign outside of the bakery noting some of the offerings, but I wouldn't be able to know what item was what otherwise. Ordered a mini ube coconut croissant- crispy exterior and flaky but not enough ube or coconut flavoring for me. Hubs ordered a baked item that had bacon on top, an egg and tomato jam inside, and whole thing topped with a lemony labne sauce. Yum, especially that sauce. Can be quite messy, so be sure to have some napkins handy. He also ordered another pastry that looked like a croissant muffin - crispy and not too sweet. As mentioned, there were no signs identifying the other items available. Maybe we would've ordered more if we knew what the other things were.

Yelp
First and foremost as Native San Franciscans, my family finds it extremely important to support small local businesses. With that being said, this place is running a scam. My family likes to buy pie for any "major holiday" or birthday and this year we decided instead of Safeway apple pie we'll buy a pie at Butter Love since they're down the street. The pie was $40 and they charge $2.50 for the pie pan. Now if you're going to charge me almost $50 for a pie i'm expecting the pie to be the best pie i've ever tasted. Unfortunately, besides the overpriced " fresh homemade pie" we received an overpriced moldy pie. Not only were we unable to eat the pie but when my mother went to return the pie pan and tell them our pie came with mold, the manager ARGUED & gaslight my mother. Kept muttering saying "how do i know you guys didn't eat it after the 4th? That's not possible." Well it's possible and we have the pictures to prove it. Piss poor customer service. Didn't offer a refund. I knew they were running a scam when I found out they sell a single cookie for $6. Do yourself a favor and either buy your sweet treats at Cafe Promenade across the street or just plain odd Safeway.

Darren D.

Yelp
Bought an apple pie on July 4th, 2024, to celebrate Independence Day. This is what we got. A moldy pie! Now they are blaming us for the mold.
google avatar

Jenny W.

Yelp
Do not get the cookies here. The chocolate chip cookie was so disappointing, and while my oatmeal cookie was better, it was still only mediocre. Very hard and the chocolate chip was crumbly
google avatar

Yelp
First time here while walking around Balboa St. I tried their chicken pot pie. It was delicious. We also had one of their special muffins. It was also delicious. If you're ever in the area. Come check this place out for some delicious pastries.
google avatar

Jacky H.

Yelp
my first time at this shop, as we passed by the store to check it out. friendly staff, explanation of pastry selection was great, and they also informed me of the store hours. Great simple design on packaging as well ! Loved their cowboy cookie and will be back to try the other cookies and pastries.

Yelp
Next time I'll try Breakfast sando -Egg & ham -chocolate croissant My barber who lives in the neighborhood gave me this rec
google avatar

Nikolette S.

Yelp
Preordered two pies for thanksgiving. Took the pies to a friend's holiday party and both pies were left with a mere missing slice. While every other dessert was demolished. Unfortunate to spend so much and end up being a waste.
google avatar

Colby J.

Yelp
I love this local bakeshop! I go, at least once a week, to get both savory and sweet treats from here. They make a mean galette and even do special orders (I had a wonderful, tart lemon meringue pie made by them for my summer birthday and was super pleased). I really appreciate that the owner/operator lives in the neighborhood. Support local!

Yelp
Best almond cookie of all time. Hands-down! End of story. Incredibly frustrating that Butter Love isn't included on Best Cookies in the Bay Area lists. These modern reviewers always fall for the glitz, recommending overly sweet trendy cookies, most often topped with some kind of sea salt. I DON'T WANT SALT CHUNKS ON TOP OF MY COOKIES! Sea salt toppings do NOT make a cookie fancier! Good grief. Butter Love makes classic, timeless cookies which are so much better than the fancypants bakeries included on these lists. There's an attention to detail along with a welcome dose of simplicity that's apparent in these circular gems. They are number one on my list! As I've said many times, these are the cookies from the grandmother of your dreams.

Kurt K.

Yelp
I had a ham and cheese croissant there this morning and it was amazing! I'm really picky about croissants. I'm not like a croissant expert or anything, but I really think most croissants are just ok. The crust was very crunchy, flaky, and the inside was perfect. They are killing it in the Butter Love kitchen.

Yelp
I am OBSESSED with the cinnamon sugar donuts from this place. I don't even really like donuts usually, but this place has the best donut I've ever tasted. I go on the weekends when they open, at 8 am, and sometimes they are even still warm. The people who work there are also very kind and sweet. You should really go try these donuts.
google avatar

Stacey T.

Yelp
Pastries: Often dry but good anyway. Service: Hit or miss Go out of your way to come here: No Drop by if you're in the area and hungry: yes
google avatar

Brett G.

Yelp
Small no-seating bakeshop at good value for the city. Breading pudding and savory equivalent (Strata) served on the weekends are outstanding and worth the trip. Pain au Chocolat while large and buttery was a bit traditional in low chocolate amount and not as flaky as I'd like. Breakfast sandwich was a bit bland and frittata/quiche was a little watery and needed some salt. However, overall happy to recommend and go back to find out what else is terrific.

Kara R.

Yelp
Been coming here since it's open! Everyone is friendly and patient. Love the various options for pastries from sweet to savory. Ice coffee is the my go to!!!! Their chicken pot pie are to die for so delicious
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
They are okay but expensive! I bought a croissant and a small tart. The tart was delicious but it was very small ~5" diameter. It cost more than $10, and the croissant was $4 or so. Coffee from a big jug was also $4! I enjoy supporting local businesses, but sometimes that support can be stretched a bit too far when you're getting taken to the cleaners for ~$3 worth of ingredients in a couple pastries made my the dozen... I guess the thing that really stung was the coffee... no idea how they can charge that much for a cup. TL;DR: Great pastries, just don't make a habit of it (and skip the coffee!)
google avatar

Brotha S.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in the Avenues of SF. The pastries are pretty good from the cowboy cookies, breakfast biscuits, and my favorite the fresh blue berry fritter donut (FIRE) I've only been lucky enough to get the blue berry fritter twice all the other times they were sold out. Get it, try it and yes You Can Thank Me Later!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This review is for Butter Love's Chocolate Raspberry Pie. We never had this before. This pie is an exquisite surprise. We love the perfectly crisp crust topped with a luscious chocolate raspberry filling. The sweetness is perfectly calibrated to let the flavors of coco and raspberry shine!
google avatar

Ali F.

Yelp
Cute little bakeshop. Items are located behind the glass divider and they get you want you want. We had the Irish cream donut (non alcoholic) and that was great. We also got a mango scone and that was ok. It was a bit more browned and crumbly than other scones I've had. They have pies that they slice on the spot for you. 3.5 stars. There's no seating inside.

Lou R.

Yelp
EYB is my baker. She should be yours too. Be forewarned - its impossible to just get one thing as the items are across the board incredible. The cookies here are spectacular. All of them.
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Pretty decent but from the few things we tried, the pastries here tend to be a little dry and a bit too sweet. We have not tried their pies, so we will update this if we do.
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
This is a tiny bakeshop in outer Richmond. There's usually a line out the door, but it move pretty fast. We order: - Apple Cuppie, which was an apple pie shaped like a cup cake. - some savory thing. It tasted like baked eggs with bacon and cheese on top. (I don't recommend getting this).
google avatar

Kevina W.

Yelp
this is one of my local favorite bakeries. they nail their scones and biscuit every time. its always so fluffy and buttery. i love the frequently changing, unique flavors of pastries that they offer. the employees are always super friendly as well:) theres no seating, but it's a great quick breakfast spot for me.
google avatar

Bea B.

Yelp
It must be said that the staff here is friendly in a way that one doesn't much experience anymore. Customers have questions and staff always gives well thought out & helpful answers. How great is that, I ask you?! The Butter Love product display is very eye-catching. You'll likely want to try everything you see. To date I've tried their savory pies, muffins, cookies, fruit galettes and monkey bread. All are good. (I'm a bit spoiled at having lived in the UK, so I'd say that I've deffo had a better savory pie, but so what?) The folk behind Butter Love care about what they do and it shows. I'd encourage any and all to check them out. A visit to Butter Love is worth it. PS: A croissant is crescent-shaped (even the two words 'croissant' and 'crescent' resemble one another). Last I checked, B.L.B. bakes pain au chocolats whether they are aware of it or not.
google avatar

Yelp
**This review is based on a take out visit during the COVID quarantine** Such a sweet bakery in Balboa Street. We were just going for a walk in the area and came across the bakery. The window is dressed very alluringly. For the best selection, get there early. I think we were there around 2-3pm and some things were already sold out. We got a slice of lemon loaf, sticky buns and a few things that I can't remember now, even just a few months later.
google avatar

Magda M.

Yelp
Ohhhh myyyy! Butter is in the name - do we need to say more?? I've been by a bunch of times recently after getting a massage a bit down the road. I've gotten cookies, pie, quiche, croissants, galettes, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. Everything is ridiculously tasty. It's fresh and crusts on all the things are soooo good. Go now!!
google avatar

Dee T.

Yelp
The name says it all! L. O. V. E in every bite. Delicious cookies, pastries, quiches, breads, muffins, and chicken pot pies after 11:30.
google avatar

Susanna S.

Yelp
Unassuming small bakery with delicious treats. Picked up a chocolate chip cookie, bread pudding, some beautiful special pastry with ube, and a brownie. I've tried the cookie so far - it's soft and has the biggest chocolate chips. I'm a fan!
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
Hot cross bun was not good. More like raisin bread with a sugar cross and tad of cranberry drizzle. A bit dry. Reminds ne of a dinner bun shape. Have people noticed there are no prices marked on any trays or maybe on the piece of paper taped near door. Long line on Sunday morning up to the door. No ordering ahead. First come first serve. Chicken pot pie comes out at 11 am. Can't pay ahead. One cashier and she does everything. I guess they are good at setting limits. I'm glad they are surviving with devil's teeth bakery down the block. Butter love pastries are unique.
google avatar

Brittany C.

Yelp
The carrot cake and gluten free brownies are amazing!!!! Will be back for those and more!
google avatar

Mimi W.

Yelp
Food is good but two stars for lazy and rude service. Ask to heat up cold pastries and breakfast sandwhich with cold cheese and she told me they didn't need to be heated because they came out of the oven the same morning. Even Starbucks will heat things and not act like it was an inconvenience. I won't go back after this especially for the cost. If you want to be a higher end business and charge a lot bring some higher end (or at least decent) service please!
google avatar

Ry T.

Yelp
We stopped by on a weekday and gazed upon the lovelies in the window and settled on trying 3 items. 3.5 stars. Peanut butter cookie - a large cookie with floury after taste. And not enough peanut butter favor. I've had better and wouldn't buy again. Plain Croissant - it looked dark as if over baked that day. But you can see the lovely layers and crispy, flaky exterior. I've had more buttery tasting croissants but this one is pretty decent and I would make a trip back to buy more if I'm in the area. Likely in the top 3 croissants I've tried in SF. Whole apple pie - a dark thick crust. The edges were thick and hard to eat. I threw the edges away when I'd finish the inside of the pie. I rather liked the pie but not the thinly sliced apples inside, preferring thick chunks of apple to bite into. The top of the crust had sprinkles of sugar which gave it a crunchy texture. Hubby didn't like the pie but I thought it was way better than the Costco apple pies he likes. You return the pie tin on your next trip to get $2.25 back. Looking forward to trying other items.
google avatar

Carol N.

Yelp
I purchased the apple pie for my hubby's birthday. It looked like every other apple pie with top crust. But it was surprisingly unique and different! It was delicious ! What impressed me the most was the flaky crust. It was like the layered crust of an apple turnover or phyllo dough. The apple slices inside were moist and tasty. The crust is impressive!! It was a very scrumptious dessert and made for a very special celebration!

Alex Z.

Yelp
If you are looking for some fresh and consistently delicious baked sweets this is definitely the spot. They hit the mark with "homemade style baking". Also the pies they make are a must try.

Charles B.

Yelp
Excellent one of the very best in San Francisco. Delicious apple pie. Perfect!!!!!!!

Cristina L.

Yelp
I purchased two chocolate chip cookies and a blueberry cake. I have not tried them yet but I have to say, the service was horrible. One of the cookies she gave, looked like it was bitten. My husband had to ask for another cookie. The person there had such an attitude. I am all for supporting small businesses but I definitely won't return to this bakery.

Yelp
I came in right before closing on a Sunday (4pm). I ordered 2 cookies for $6.50. While both were pretty tasty, they were nothing to travel for and I probably wouldn't get them again. I had high hopes based on other reviews and pictures (hot chocolates, cookies, steamed buns, scones, doughnuts, croissants) but I almost felt like I had come to the wrong store when I arrived! My biggest complaint was their lack of stock (shocker, right before they closed! Shame on me). They only had chocolate chip and cowboy cookies. The girl at the counter said they normally run out of stock around 11am on the weekend (why stay open until 4 then???). They also only offered maybe 8 different items that day according to a little chalkboard, so they definitely have a reduced covid stock to begin with. There was a carafe of some drink, but it looked sad and small and I was sad about the lack of stock so I didn't check to see if it was hot chocolate like I hoped. Chocolate chip: This was a pretty thick version of the cookie (which I happen to love because it keeps it moist), FULL of chocolate chips, and toasty/crunchy on the outside. Cowboy: An oatmeal cookie that was gooey and has chocolate and nuts instead of raisins. Surprisingly tasty, but I still don't really love oatmeal cookies.

Yelp
2.5 STARS I was in the area having lunch and decided to check out Butter Love Bakeshop afterwards. My friend and I arrived on Saturday, January 20th around 12:15pm. I ended up getting a few donuts: Lemon curd, Sugar, Glazed and a Banana fritter. I grabbed them for takeout, so I had the lemon curd doughnut when I got home. I liked the flavor of the curd, but I found the donut to be way too bready. And it wasn't sweet enough. I think it would have benefited from a sugar coating to give it that sweetness. I felt the same way about the banana fritter. Good flavor in the center with the fresh banana, but still too bready. The sugar and glazed were more of the same. I feel bad giving this spot such a low rating as I love my neighborhood spots. But their donuts just weren't up my alley. I like mine light and fluffy and these were dense and bready. One of my friends raves about their pies. Especially the buttery crust. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong items? If I find myself back in the area, I may come back to try those pies. My friend does make them sound tasty.

Yelp
A new addition to my outer Richmond coffee stops! The coffee is usually good, strong, and hot t(hot is important) though my last cup was tepid. I tried the bacon/egg/cheese biscuit and was very disappointed. Somehow I thought it would be heated...the eggs were a very strange almost microwaved consistency and the biscuit fell apart as I was trying to eat it. This is just not a good cold snack. Service should be consistently cordial but on my last trip I felt like an inconvenience.

Yelp
Last minute decision to come about 30 minutes before they were closing a few months ago. Small bakery that turns out some great pastries! Scored a plum galette They don't have a lot, so you will need to go early! Need to try a pie soon!
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
I am a big fan of this tiny little bakeshop. Every time I head over to Gus' to get myself some fishing tackle, I always pop over across the street for some delicious baked goods. Arsicault or Bouchon, they are not, but Butter Love is still damn good. Prices are reasonable, and the menu changes every day. I highly recommend the cuppies (pies shaped like cupcakes/muffins) and their ham and cheese croissant. I would say maybe avoid the plain croissant, as I've noticed my past few times that these are generally baked for just a smidge too long and have a burnt taste to them.

karabina c.

Yelp
If you can get the Cowboy Cookies on the day they are baked- you are in for a treat! Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, filled with chocolate chips, coconut, pecans and other yummy goodness!

Yelp
Big mistake. L-East Coast bake snobbery and ready to get on my brunch hunger when I was strolling Outer Richmond/Lands End in Frisco. Thought I'd seen all the local fooderies and wasn't expecting this 'buttery' in a mostly Asian eats area. Bbbbarely spied a sign, "...Bakeshop" through the trees. What the hey?; check it out - my legs aren't that tired. I'll walk over. Three trips inside, each gets better. Doing the sidewalk bench digest now. My erstwhile watermark was French, German, and Austrian bakeries from years living "over there." And now? Inevitably, I'm finally running out of space in my 'trunk' since I've selected 3 different items to sample each round. Mistake #2: didn't take a picture of the last Thai Tea filled doughnut that I snagged/snagged me. Light, creamy, essential, and not over-sugared - just right. "OMG!" Hooked. I was in Seattle once for the awarding and TV interviews for the Doughnut-of-the-Year prize. The Mighty O doughnut bakery won it that year. The Mighty O has awesome, high quality, fun (the 'Don King' is hilarious!), organic and vegan doughnuts (so *not* East coast). Just sayin' this Butter Love, Thai Tea filled doughnut is a serious challenger for d-of-the-year. I had the Thai Tea doughnut, the Apple-Strawberry-Nectarine-Meyer Lemon pie, Strawberry-Peach galette, ham and cheese croissant, and scones. Full. Fully happy. This review may screw me by lengthening the waiting line. Double-edged to Yelp anything about Butter Love. While posting outside and questioning the customers, I've discovered that the locals here in Outer Richmond are totally clued-in to Butter Love. Definitely NOT the SF east peninsula peeps though. I'd like to keep this place a little bit secret but doubt that's going to last. Sarah and Sofia were helpful and genuine, while owner Esa was hard at it with the rolling pin, but none of them too busy to chat and answer repeated questions and choice-challenges from me. Ridiculously redundant to mention I'll be returning. Yay Lands End! Yay-yay-yay Butter Love :)

Yelp
I'd first heard about this place during a breakfast meeting. We have this routine that as an ice-breaker, we talk about our favorite eatery or most recent discovery: Butter Love Bakeshop was one of my colleague's favorite bakeries during our most recent August meeting. Fast forward one month: I've been to this place three times now and that even though it's not at all near where I live nor work! It's that good. My favorites so far have been the fritters; one time they had a strawberry banana fritter and that was just so yummy. The other time I tried their savory scone, which was zucchini and feta...also amazing and spicy! It's a tiny place and I have a feeling the people who run it are a bit overwhelmed. Just this morning, I arrived at 7:20am (they open at 7:30) and shortly after me a horde of about 30 cyslicts arrived: colorful spandex galore! Luckily I was first in line!

Yelp
The cake was very dry. I will say their prices are reasonable but it just wasn't fresh sadly.

Yelp
Stopping at Butter Love on a weekend morning has become a regular event for us. Their offerings are always delicious, and we really like how there's always a variety of both sweet and savory. The raspberry-thyme donuts a few weeks ago were fantastic! The staff is consistently helpful, especially when it comes to identifying what's what. One request - bring back the daily list in the front window. Makes it easier to figure out what I want before going in.
