First-and-foremost, this place is a bar. This particular bar has the best selection of scotch, bourbon, and whiskey I've ever seen. If there's a brand or vintage you can't usually find when you go out, try here.
That being said, my expectations for the food were not high but they were easily exceeded. I've eaten here a few times and I've left happy and full [and maybe a little tipsy] every time. I usually get a fish dish and it's always really tasty. The waitress says they make everything from scratch except the fries [chips] and even those are really good. Last time I was there we sat outside. I was chilly so I had some chili to warm up and it was really good. Not very spicy. My son got the stacked ham sandwich with cheddar instead of swiss. I tried a bite and it was really good. They use the thick-cut ham. It reminded me of a ham and cheddar hot pocket, which for me is a compliment; I love those things.
On the cocktail side of things, they don't have anything too fancy, but it's really not that kind of place. Think Jack-and-Coke, straight-up, on-the-rocks. Maybe a martini or a manhattan or an old-fashioned. If it's a cocktail that's been around since prohibition, you can order it here.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The one good thing to come out of COVID dining restrictions is the Al Fresco dining. I love their outdoor "beach" with all the picnic tables. However, they didn't have the staff to open this when I was last in, but I can walk to this place, so you know I'll be back.
In the picture, I convinced my son to keep eating by telling him when he was full, his belly button would go from "innie" to "outie" so he's eating fries while watching his belly button. Good times!
