So excited they added a gf version of the chicken Sammy. It’s got nice soft bread and it’s seasoned well. I love a homemade chip and this one comes with dip! It’s good quality and casual food.

This restaurant is a spinoff of buttermilk and Bourbon and it’s so yummy! I was really craving a good chicken biscuit but couldn’t find any places that were serving some for a weekday brunch (post cfa breakfast hours), until I stumbled upon here! It’s truly a gem and deserves much more recognition! Hopefully, they get some places closer into the city soon :)

Google
The best chicken sandwich I’ve had!!! They have a wide variety of chicken sandwiches and side dishes. I LOVE the biscuits and street corn. It’s the same you’ll find in any of the chef’s restaurants (Citrus and Salt and Buttermilk and Bourbon). The lemonades are also SOOO good. The chicken sandwiches are bigger than average. The chicken breading is very flavorful and well-seasoned. Definitely one of my fav fast food spots. I drive all the way from Boston just for this.

Fairly spacious inside. Decent space for waiting for take out. Inside, they have few small tables, self seating. With the combo option, you're basically getting a drink for free. They have self serve fountain machine or you can choose the drinks behind the counter (sweet tea or strawberry lemonade). I got the Basic Chik combo (tots). The sandwich is big and very filling. It is served on a buttered brioche but with the sauce and butter, the bottom piece of the brioche is very soggy. Agree with others about the tots. It's not tater tots, they are bigger and very dense with a filling inside. Also got the street corn to try, this was very disappointing. Besides slightly hot flavor, the corn is very bland. I would be back for the sandwich and maybe try the fries next time.

Popped in on a whim to grab food to bring home, the chicken tenders and sandwich were delicious, love the combo with a drink and fries (nice and crispy)! The order was cooked on the spot which meant it was nice a fresh and was still hot even after a 15 minute drive home!

Google
biscuits are heavenly, especially the pimento cheese and strawberry butter that comes with it. I love getting the 2x chicken tenders with garlic toast, they are very nicely sized for $8. getting a biscuit (with AMAZING spreads) and two large fried chicken tenders and garlic toast for $13 is sooo good.

Empty on a Saturday night… I didn’t expect BAD. I tried the namesake sandwich and it was way too salty, the chicken didn’t ‘taste like chicken’ and even the bun didn’t seem fresh. Really it didn’t matter that I had paid over 2x what I would pay elsewhere for a sandwich and fries. It would have been bad at any price. I was also the only one in the place (ah, now I know). It’s outfitted like a fast food shop with metal tables and chairs that were chilly given the door was propped open. The woman at the order counter was nice enough but since I was the only one in the place it would have been nicer to get my attention that my order was ready. I ended up eating the fries (nothing great) and throwing the sandwich away after a few bites. Such a disappointment.

I tried Butterbird the other day, and I must say, Chef Jason Santos and his creative food concepts never fail to impress me. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders and Flam’n Street Corn "Ribs." The Corn Ribs were messy but undeniably the best street corn I've had in a while. The tenders were equally delightful—crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, cooked to perfection.

Yelp
Pretty solid chicken sandwich! We got the thuy bird, which had quite an unexpected kick. The chicken was juicy and tender. I appreciated that it wasn't too messy and that the bun wasnt falling apart once I started eating it. It's a tad saltier than it needs to be. There is plenty of flavor - so the extra saltiness seemed unnecessary. It is filling for one person without feeling too heavy. Would come back to try the other menu items!

Yelp
From the aesthetic to the food, this place has got it. High quality southern food meets convenient take out, based around chicken sandwiches, tenders, loaded tater tots, and yummy deserts! And yes, sweet tea. I ordered the Basic Chick combo with their tots. It was so tasty, chicken was crunchy, had a yummy sauce. And the tots were delicious, reminded me more of hush puppies but I liked them. Tots come with their bird sauce which was yuuuummmyy. I didn't wait too long as I went kind of late but I'm sure it gets busy here. Heads up you do have to pay extra for sauce sides if you wanted something more but it's only a couple of bucks. Fun Fact: It's the sister restaurant to Buttermilk & Bourbon!!

Yelp
Just had a great meal at Butterbird - first time here! Ate here before heading over to the Majestic theater to watch the new Beetlejuice movie!! Ordered for pickup but decided to eat in here. Food was ready in 15-20 minutes perfect timing - and was piping hot! I got the Thuy bird sandwich and was really happy that you can substitute grilled chicken on all their sandwiches. The chicken was perfectly grilled flavorful and the sandwich was great - a little spicy but not too much. Overall really great sandwich and the brioche bun makes it richer for sure. Quite filling! The hubs got the Talk birdy to me sandwich and he enjoyed it very much too! We got a side of fries - I thought the portion was a bit small for $6 but the fries were quite good. He got a small soda too. Overall total came to $40. It's definitely slightly pricier for about $15 a sandwich but it's really good food! Worth it! Great interior ambiance too - dark decor with fun artwork on the walls. Overall great experience! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I think I need to try this place again cuz my first time here left much to be desired. As a frequent patron of Arsenal Yards, I'm always excited when a new place opens up. That and my love for Buttermilk and Bourbon, I was super excited to try this place ... since it's both in a convenient location AND from the same chef as B&B, which I loveeeee. Unfortunately, it did not impress me like I had hoped ... or at all. My BF and I love chicken sandwiches, so the concept of this place really interested us. We decided to share the Basic Chick cuz the menu was a little expensive. Although the sandwich was yummy, I definitely do not think it was worth $12, which was on the cheaper end of the sandwiches listed, especially since this place is more of a "take-out" feel. The sandwich was on the medium to smaller side and was kind of just ... average. Honestly, I feel horrible saying this, but I felt myself craving Chick-fil-A. Maybe I need to try one of the more unique sandwiches next time, as well as some of the sides, but from just this sandwich alone ... this place was super underwhelming. Another "con" would be the service. It was pretty unmemorable. As in ... I literally cannot remember anything about it ... at all. Good or bad. As for ambiance, this place is so cute and very well designed. I especially love the handles on the doors. I still have hopes this place can win me over and will definitely try it again later.

Yelp
The brand new butterbird is open in Watertown under Jason Santos. You might recognize his iconic blue hair from Hells Kitchen or Bar Rescue. One of his other ventures, Buttermilk and Bourbon is just a few feet away in Arsenal Yards. There are 6 outdoor tables and roughly equivalent seating inside. They specialize in chicken as the name would suggest. Tenders and sandwiches it seems. The tenders are perfectly fried to a dark brown and covered in spices. The dipping sauce is not as tangy as Canes but does provide creamy contrast to the spiced batter. It comes on a piece of garlic toast with some pickles. You can upgrade to a combo with drink and a side. Of the chicken sandwiches, I opted for the Thuy Bird. This is their vietnamese spin on a chicken sandwich. It has pickled vegetables and like a cabbage slaw. I love spicy things and banh mi so I thought this might be the best pick. It was good but there's a spice in there I can't place. It's not nutmeg but reminds me of a nutmeg. I would most definitely get one of the other options next time. The sandwich comes on a potato bun and the chicken is perfectly done. I am excited to go back and try another. The staff was very friendly with Jason himself on site to see it all went well. I can see this place being very successful. We don't have anything like it in the immediate area and its fast and casual vibe is a great addition to Arsenal Yards. I recommend ordering ahead for now as it just opened. I was the second customer through the door with a huge line building behind me.

Yelp
I ordered the godfather which was a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, caramelized onions and cheddar cheese severed on a hamburger bun. It was fabulous so I had a second. They are located at Arsenal Yard. They are owned by the same person as buttermilk & Burbon. There is no table service rather customers place their orders at the counter. Service was about 12 minutes for a Sunday morning. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They had plants hanging from the ceiling which was a nice touch. Brings some green into the restaurant. I would return in a heart beat.

Yelp
The Incredible Hawk is like its name... incredible!! The chicken is so tender, and a sufficient amount of bleu cheese crumble and ranch dressing. I usually always need a side of ranch with any sandwich, but this one is so perfect it needs nothing else added. Also, can't come here without getting the famous B&B biscuits. Pretty fast service, the restaurant is really cool looking inside, and the food is awesome. Great place to stop by if you want the good quality of Chef Jason Santos' food but need something quick!

Yelp
The chicken is perfectly cooked. It's so moist and juicy. I always order the Butterbird. It comes out consistently good which is also very important. The staff are very nice. The place itself is casual and chill. Music is nice. The bathrooms are clean which is also good. It is kinda expensive but its worth the splurge when you feel like getting good fried chicken.

Yelp
At first glance outside the location, It is very sleek and nice looking, almost too boujee looking that I thought it was some expensive restaurant, so I never really went in. Until today I decided to look at the menu, and I found out that it wasn't a boujee-expensive sit down restaurant, It was just a very nice food place, like you order at the front desk and get your food and sit down like most places. Such a good concept, the whole theme of chickens with biscuits and southern food is so good, and I got the Lemon pepper chicken sandwich and it was spectacular in my opinion. I also got the spicy mexican style street corn and it was very good, and I loved the seasoning they put it was like the red takis seasoning but a little less spicy, super cool and delicious. Overall 10/10 the food, and the ambiance of the place was great, This place needs more recognition!

Yelp
A new fried chicken place in Arsenal Yards serving up the most delicious chicken sandwich I have had. I ordered online and picked up the iconic butter bird sandwich and tried out the tator tots and French toast sticks. The decor inside is pretty nice and there are tables to sit at if you choose to dine in. The service was quick for pickup around lunchtime and the packaging was nice. The butter bird sandwich was spectacular with a huge piece of chicken that was crispy and moist. It was very filling and I added on the truffle tots (8 pieces to an order) for my side. These are not your normal tots, they are much bigger, but still crunchy and come with sauce. The French toast sticks come with maple syrup and lemon curd and sweet and savory dipping option. The French toast was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I will definitely be returning to try out their other sandwiches and would recommend trying them out if you're in the area.

Yelp
The space is very cool, and the service was great and fast! I wasn't the biggest fan of the food however. I got the super fly chicken sandwich and found it pretty soggy, although this may have been due to the caramelized onions. The chicken unfortunately wasn't the most flavorful and the tater tots were fun but also lacked flavor without the dipping sauce. The dipping sauce itself was delicious as was the pineapple lemonade. Portion sizes were good.

Yelp
Okay it is basically a extension of buttermilk and bourbon but only offers chicken sandwiches tenders fries etc It was good the tater tots were not good very dense and not cooked through fries were great We had the special mother clucker, the Thai and the original they were good, love the thigh meat instead of breast

Yelp
Favorite fried chicken of my connoisseur son. Prices are super high for takeout or the uncomfortable tables and chairs. Biscuits are super good. Inventive chicken sandwiches. It's takeout counter service that's slow because stuffs made to order. It would be better as a restaurant.

Yelp
service quick and pleasant. Sister and I got a blue bird special chicken sandwich. I took a bite and noticed a thick line of something and for me the end of the sandwich. My sister went in and originally said oh that's the dark meet; no it wasn't. They replaced with chicken tenders with same fixings as special. We were enjoying outside seating and my sister inquired about his complaint, hearing part of the discussion. The young man was speaking for his friend who reported it was disgusting!! Worst sandwich ever. Apparently who I assume was the manager and deducted the cost... She was very cordial and a good manager. I still say they must review their product. Boat of our snatched had a black thick line in the chicken! I would mark. 1 star yet the manager was very nice. Buyer beware!!!

Yelp
Breakfast bowl is better than the sandwich. Had the turkey sausage bowl. Tater tots were HUGE! Lots of food. Biscuit was nice as well. Had the basic chicken sandwich tonight. Shout out to Mimi for answering my question about the sauce to make sure I had no allergen issues. I'm glad I tried the sandwich, but the breakfast bowl was worth the calories.

Yelp
Big fan of this restaurant group and here is another winner winner chicken dinner (see what I did there lol) I've tried almost every side and loved them all! The corn ribs are messy but DELICIOUS but get the napkins ready! French fries and Brussels sprouts are great sides as well. Chicken tenders or tendies as the menu calls them are wonderfully seasoned and have a great crunch! I've only tried the Regular so far but they also offer the Nashville Hot option! The pickles that come with the tendies are addicting and I think they should sell a side of just those, I'd order it haha Don't get me started on the biscuits... if you know you know and that's all I'll say about that. If you don't know just order and thank me later. Now onto the sandwiches - I ordered the Butterbird because I love an egg on a sandwich and the Miso butter intrigued me. It was a 10/10!! My son had the Basic Chick and it was basic but in the best way! The bird sauce was a really good addition to a basic chicken sandwich! They also offer breakfast which I haven't tried yet but I'm salivating over their posts about the Breakfast Burrito! Decor was really cool, love the blue! Always love an open kitchen too so to get the peak inside behind where they take your order is a nice touch in my opinion. Staff in front are all attentive and helpful. Also noticed how they had people walking around checking if the tables were clean and the area where you leave the tray was tidy!

Yelp
The location and building is a beautiful elegant blue color. It is the most inviting space I have ever seen for a fried chicken establishment. So to start the esthetics already entices you to enter and see what's this is all about. As a resident near Arsenal yards like most people we have been eagerly waiting for the place to open and try it out! It doesn't disappoint but after all it is still a fried chicken place just like Popeyes, Kentucky Fried Chicken, etc... The prices are a bit higher than the other fried chicken places. Is it worth it? Well someone has to pay for the beautifully designed building and space. My hubby ordered the sandwich and for me always the tenders!! He said he wasn't sure if it was worth the price for his chicken sandwich because his favorite lately has been the Popeyes chicken sandwich!! It looked good to me and he didn't offer for me to try a bite!! So I think he enjoyed it. As for the chicken tenders!! I love the crunchy crust but for those who don't eat a lot of salt it was just slightly salty. The tenders came with pickles, Texas toast with lots of garlic and butter. I have to say the Texas toast made my mouth jumped with joy and it was quite addicting if you love garlic and butter combination. As for the tenders they were much bigger than I expected and definitely the chicken was better grade of chicken than the other fried chicken places like Popeye's, Raising Caine, etc.. As for the sauce, sorry Chef, it didn't add to the experience and I wondered if it was even needed. Honestly I believe one should always weigh the calories to the enjoyment of what you are eating and see if it is worth it. For me, the sauce is NOT worth it by any means!! It was downright not additive to the overall eating experience!! So chef, can you create different sauces to accompany this experience otherwise the chicken definitely tasted more than average!! I ranked it a 4 not a 5 because of the sauce!! And I think a few more pickles are needed too for a better experience. I got four tenders and there was not enough pickles to chicken for the complete experience because I ran out of them by the end of the second piece of chicken tenders. As for those of you who love a good fried chicken, you know the sour pickles adds a bit of acidic needed to offset the fried chicken and adds another dimension to your tastebuds. So once it runs out you don't fully get the complete experience that I am sure the chef wanted to create. Definitely go and give it a try and you can decide for yourself if it was worth the calories and the price. Again the building is beautiful, the counter is elegant for a fried chicken place. I was expecting an upgraded menu and didn't know it was just fried chicken with some sides that looked delish but don't know if it tastes as good as it looks since I didn't notice the sides when reading the menu. I am just one opinion you should try it and maybe for you it is perfect and you would rate it a 5 like the others did already. Thank you for bringing a fried chicken place to Arsenal yards. We definitely needed this type of food added to the area. Happy Eating!!

Yelp
Was passing through looking for a breakfast place...this place had the hipster vibe that typically produces a good unique breakfast. Unfortunately it was not that great. Passed a diner in the way here in what looked like downtown Watertown and wished we stopped there. Now I have to gamble with a 30 min ride home.

Joe C.

Yelp
Disappointed. Very rubbery chicken that had too many tendons in it. Garlic toast was soaking wet. Flavors could have worked but will never come back.

K R.

Yelp
Grabbed breakfast there today and everything was so delicious and well crafted. Can't wait to try their lunch menu!

Ivy C.

Yelp
Yummy and fresh chicken! The spicy sandwich was delicious and the tenders were huge!! Definitely visit for a quality meal!

Paige W.

Yelp
I really liked the food here. The chicken tenders were well seasoned, juicy, and perfectly crunchy. The pickles complimented the chicken well and there were many drink options to choose from. Even though the prices seem high at first ($22 for a 4 piece chicken tender combo with fries and a drink) it's actually really reasonable because the portions are huge.

Eddie V.

Yelp
Great Chicken.. Highly Recommended!!! Must a go! I went with my best Friend and lover, Dever, and she loved it.

Brianna N.

Yelp
Delicious food, fries cooked perfectly. Chicken sandwich is crispy and yummy. Brussel sprouts are a must. Definitely need to try the pineapple lemonade. Quick service. Very cute establishment. Can't wait to come back!
