Wine Bars Are Getting Weirder With Their Descriptions - The Infatuation

"There are many reasons why Butterlamp is one of the city’s premier date night spots. It’s not just the allure of splitting some fries cooked in pork fat and really good olives, or smooching next to a drippy wax candle that’s stuffed into a wine bottle. A big part is the wine list’s tasting notes, which are instant conversation starters that often lead to a spirited back-and-forth with the staff. They’re bouncing with excitement to elaborate on why that chilled Gamay tastes like “your last night in Paris,” or what they mean when describing a Sonoma rosé blend as “what are you doing l8r?” “Berry good, lil spice, going to make you text them back” Beurer, Trollinger Trocken from Wurttemberg, Germany" - carlo mantuano

The 13 Best New Restaurants In Nashville

"This new East Nashville wine bar is the hottest date spot in town, and equally great for a really good friend catch-up. They subscribe to the FSOE (Flakey Salt On Everything) philosophy, and you’ll see it on everything from deviled eggs to the lighter-than-air chocolate gateau. Swing by to sample some of the more unique wines you can find in Nashville, and always take home a loaf of classic or kombu sourdough or the wildly good fermented sweet potato bread. Best New Restaurants in Nashville, July 2024 | Eater Nashville

"Few things pair better than fresh bread and a nice glass of wine, and East Nashville’s Butterlamp puts that notion into practice. Husband and wife duo Benjamin and Katie Rose Tyson debuted their project inside a renovated church in summer 2024, with fresh loaves for takeaway, including from a side window daily at 2 p.m. while supplies last. Or opt to grab a glass of bubbly and stay awhile, sampling fresh sourdough and slurping oysters to the heart’s delight." - Kellie Walton

This place is so cute! My friend and I came by while visiting from out of town and it was definitely our favorite wine bar of the 3 we tried that day. We sat at the bar and got the sourdough/butter and the olives. The wine menu is great and they have a variety of options including natural/more funky wine (which I prefer). Would definitely recommend going!

Just loved this little find in East Nashville. The food is great. They offer a great wine list and let you taste test. The food is out of this world. Just the plain bread and butter will knock your socks off. We also shared eggs in a skirt and a delicious concoction of onions and cheese on bread. You can also take home full or half loaves. Everyone there is so kind and enthusiastic about their restaurant. We liked it so much, we went twice while we were visiting.

This is a superb, new, MUST visit spot for my Nashville natives and out-of-towners. Established in 2024, Butterlamp brings such a fun and unique experience to the East Nashville community. Quaint vibes with a great selection of wines and appetizers. Upon arriving you will want to head to the back of the building where it might feel you have stumbled upon a private tea party, but rest assured you are in the right place! You can order at the window or head inside where there is a bar to order from as well. The bread is baked in-house and is absolutely delicious. The staff were so bubbly and friendly; they will be glad to help you with any questions you may have!

I literally exclaimed “that bread was a religious experience!!!” When they asked me how it was. I’m seldom prone to hyperbole, and I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten. The black pepper sourdough.

What a comfortable, lovely place! The food was phenomenal. I don’t consider myself a carb lover, but I could eat their sourdough bread for 3 meals a day. I used to think you had to go to Europe to get good bread, but turns out you only need to go as far as East Nashville. The wine selection was fantastic. I love orange wines and chilled reds, which both have their own features on the menu. The decor makes this place feel so cozy. I would be equally at home there solo with a book or chatting up the friendly staff as I would be in a group of my best friends.

Love this wine bar! The wine selection is amazing and the buttered bread is the stuff of dreams. Katie, the owner, is so sweet! Their wine menu changes weekly so I will be back to try next week’s. We sat outside and it’s dog-friendly.

Google
This little spot is a MUST visit. Everything was incredible. The Lil gems, deviled eggs and all the sourdough. I cant recommend more. And the bread window, amazing. So worth it in East Nashville.

Perfect place to hang out with your friends and drink and yap. The bread is delicious and the loaves are huge for the price. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Great wine, food, & ambiance! Really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. Only issue is that the space is extremely small/tight and you have to order at the bar. It felt like everyone was bumping into each other & took forever to place an order/close a tab. For how busy it was, seems like they should consider full service to those sitting at tables in order to reduce crowding at the bar. Looking forward to going back and trying again :)

Yelp
There's something rare and magical about The Butter Lamp. It isn't just the perfectly crisp-edged, deeply flavorful mushroom toast or the briny, citrus-kissed warmth of the olives (though those alone would be worth the visit). It's the way this place makes you feel--like you've stepped into something personal, something earnest, something made with love and delightfully shared. The couple behind The Butter Lamp aren't just serving food; they're sharing something they're excited about--learning, creating, and offering it up with a warmth typically reserved for dear friends and houseguests. Their joy in what they do is tangible, and it's impossible not to feel it in every bite, every sip, every interaction. We first visited during the hush of a snowed-in January weekend, slipping inside from the cold with our favorite neighbors. It felt like stepping into a glowing refuge--cozy, unhurried, deeply comforting. It was a rest to be grounded and welcomed, nourished and warmed through and through. If you love places where food is more than just food--where it's a story, a craft, and real heart at the center--you'll just love The Butter Lamp. I can't wait to get back there.

Yelp
Butterlamp was brought to my attention though some foodie influencers I consulted when looking for places to eat in Nashville. While this didn't stand out as the most Southern or Nashville-eque place (for me), what struck me was that it was a wine bar that specialized in bread and butter. Say no more, you're speaking my language. I had just finished doing some touristy things and I thought this would be the perfect place to stop before going back downtown. Butterlamp is a little hidden, at least from my perspective. I Ubered it here from another area of Nashville and it looks like the business is nestled in a mostly residential area. Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong - but it was kinda quiet and didn't see too much action surrounding it. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just probably would't have found this spot unless I was intentionally looking for it. Anyway I digress - the space is actually really lovely. There is a small outdoor seating area, and inside gives way to a combination of bar seating, high tops, and standard tables. This place looks new, and the bright color scheme gave it a really fresh feel. The menu has a variety of wine, bread to both eat in house and take home, and few other bites that go with being at a wine bar. I decided to get a glass of dry red, and pair it with some warm sourdough that came with their cultured butter. To complete the moment, I ordered a plate of mortadella and soppressata. Honestly, this was a vibe - the wine was good, as were the meats, but let's talk about that bread. It was warm, crusty on the outside, and soft on the inside. The cultured butter was delicious and it all made for awesome flavor and mouthfeel mmmm yes. I got another round of wine, this time I tried one of their chilled reds which was also quite good. Service was good - everyone was really friendly. Overall, this was a great find in Nashville - they serve good wine and simple, yet creative food that complement the vino well. They seem like a young business (based on the number and age of the Yelp reviews), and I wish them nothing but the best. I would definitely seek them out again next time I'm in Nashville.

Yelp
We decided to pop in here after a long conference day and had a great experience. Signage isn't great outside so if you don't know the area it sort of seems like you're about to walk into a school or government building next to an apartment building - but once you're inside the ambiance is great and the bathrooms were beautiful and clean. Definitely limited seating (first come, first served) and you order everything from the bar, so sometimes it took a few minutes of standing in line to actually be able to order. Discrepancy between bartenders with the size of the wine glasses poured.. in hindsight, wish we had just ordered a bottle as it would have been less expensive. Maybe they could offer a wine tasting option, so you get 3 different glasses to try for a slightly reduced price. The bread was outstanding as was almost every bite of food we ordered. The deviled eggs were my favorite, and the cookie and pear trifle for dessert were to die for! Truly incredible, one of the best cookies I've ever eaten. This ended up being our dinner but could also serve as a pre-dinner appetizer and glass of wine if you wish, or a post-dinner glass of wine and dessert. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Butterlamp is beautiful and definitely fits the neighborhood. I really enjoyed the bread and butter, and the olives were great as well. You order at the bar and they bring you your foods to your table. This would be a fun date night spot, but the only qualm I have is that the wine per glass is actually kind of insanely expensive. One glass came out to almost $20 at the end with tax, so really savor that pour because this isn't a multiple glasses of wine kind of place. I did end up looking up the wines my friend and I got and the glass pour price was almost the same price as the full bottle retail. To each their own, but just a warning to future customers. Otherwise, this place is great.

Yelp
Some of the best wine I've had!! Service was great! Limited space and hard to dine but we got there!

Yelp
Very cool spot! The cozy interior is the perfect winter hideaway with your friends. Get here early because the few seats fill up quickly and you can't order food until you have a table. We ordered half a loaf of regular sourdough and half a loaf of cracked pepper sourdough and both were absolutely delicious. I'm not sure if they made their own butter as well, but it was also so yummy. We also got an order of the brown butter chocolate chip cookies and they were PERFECT. I didn't order any wine, but they have plenty of options. A great spot for a cozy date night or a night out with the girls!

Yelp
Such a great date spot! The ambiance is amazing and the service is great. This would be a monthly spot for us if the wine wasn't so expensive.

Yelp
Great spot for a girls night or date night. Enjoyed some bread, fries, a mocktail and wine. Heads up to order at the bar, and snag a seat of they are open. They do not have any host so you have to figure it out as you go. The playlist was also very good! Will be back

Yelp
I was genuinely floored by this place!!!! The food is INCREDIBLE. Next level good. I didn't realize every dish could be so perfect and flavorful. Don't miss out on the dessert either- order all of it. Seriously this is the best place I've ever been lol. Absolutely amazing service & vibe too, can't wait to become a regular!

Yelp
Wine was fantastic, the vibes are wonderful! The bread and butter was delicious but the bread with stuff we tried was not well balanced. Overall with your time for bread and wine for happy hour!

Yelp
Run, don't walk, Nashville finally has an incredible wine bar that hits perfectly across vibe/ambiance/quality of wine/food/price point/amazing service!! Hidden in the far right of the new Eastwood Village complex is a tiny but mighty wine bar with amazing snacks galore. I came on a Sunday afternoon at what they described as their slowest time since opening (but with still a steady stream of individuals and groups coming in for bread to go or to stay for a glass and a bite). It was easy to grab a seat at the bar, but I imagine on weekends there's a line situation as there are no reservations here. The menu is intensely seasonal and casual - specials are written in the glass mirror behind the bar (rotating options for cheese, charcuterie, tinned fish, and oysters; a selection of "favorite" wines by the glass currently available & sorted by type.) I couldn't come here for a heavy meal but you can easily fill up a balanced plate with the different snack options. The crudite with tofu green goddess dressing is honestly one of the most unique and perfect dishes I've had in Nashville in ages. The tofu adds a whole other dreamy creaminess to it, the herb balance is just perfect, they don't skimp on the fancy vegetables (including cucamelon, endive, and purple carrots) and the fact the vegetables come dressed in evoo and salt really takes the flavor unexpectedly next level. My one small gripe is I needed more dip - not a terrible problem to have and they brought me more upon request. The deviled eggs in a tuille skirt are also not to be missed and the warm bread (get the konbu!!) with butter is simple but so perfect. I was thankful they had a light dessert like Eton mess because I wanted a sweet end but was pretty full from my many snacks. This is girl dinner vibes but make it all taste decadent. The cheese were good but not standout to me and my biggest regrets weee not having enough room to try the mussels or tinned fish, because they looked amazing. Beautiful, dog-friendly grassy area outside available with tables so when the weather gets a bit cooler, can see this being a popular outdoor hang (a good thing because the inside is small - most ideal for groups smaller than 4.) Really thoughtful service that walks you through the wines. Absolute slam dunk of an opening and I'm so thankful to finally have an excellent wine bar in Nashville!

Yelp
This place is awesome! Really cool aesthetic, great wine selections, cocktails were awesome, and the bread was out of this world. Super welcoming staff. The whole area around it is great as well. Fun area to walk.

Yelp
Went to Butterlamp last night and had the best experience. Stopped by for a glass of wine and some fresh bread before dinner and let me tell you this was one of the most unique, charming, eclectic dining experiences in all of Nashville. The French onion toast was absolutely incredible, unique wine selection, and friendly and inviting ambiance. Katie and her husband own Butterlamp and I felt right at home. Typically don't spend the time to write reviews but everything about this place was so memorable and comforting. Whether for a girls night out on the town, first date, or cozy comfy experience 10/10 stars. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Love this place! We stopped in for a glass of wine and had oysters...and bread...and more wine and bread and cookies to go!! The service is stellar. The food and wine selection is very interesting and delicious. We sat at the bar and it's very comfortable especially being able to watch the chef do his thing! This is a great place. Come drink some wine!

Yelp
Giving 4 stars cause I hate leaving a bad review! Gorgeous atmosphere but the prices hurt. I know rent is probably expensive and the price of ingredients has gone up but the portions of everything are so small. You get a teaspoon of jam to go with a quarter loaf of bread. Two small pieces of cheese are $12. And the wine list by the glass doesn't include anything under $14. I would definitely go back if they ever do a happy hour, fingers crossed!

Ashlyn H.

Yelp
The bread is INCREDIBLE. perfect for a cozy drink and snack. Service was great. Love this idea

Dan C.

Yelp
Over priced and over hyped unfortunately. Was wishing for a true neighborhood wine bar since we live in the neighborhood. This definitely didn't live up to it. Small pours, everything overpriced, and counter service ordering for what you pay is wild.
