I first found out about Butternut Bakehouse from my wife who had stopped by a couple of days after opening and picked up a few random things -- including the broccoli quiche.
I have to say - I've had a lot of quiche (not proud) in my life, but this one was by far the best quiche Ive eaten. As silly as this may sound, all quiche is not the same. There are massive differences in taste, texture, consistency, etc. This place seems to make it truly perfectly (and from a few more orders - also consistently).
A couple of weeks later we walked by the place at lunch and decided to stop in. Other than picking up the broccoli quiche :), I picked up their veggie lunch sandwich. It was made up of whipped feta, tomato jam, herb slaw, sprouts, carrots, and lettuce. One thing that stood out to me almost immediately is how juicy and flavorful it was. From my past experiences at Kickstand (down a few streets), I did not expect that a sandwich can be this flavorful. But more importantly *not* dry -- this is something that really frustrates me about Kickstand. We ended up picking up a second veggie sandwich to split since the first one was so good.
I have to say, I am really impressed at the quality of the food so far. Definitely a place we will stop by more often. The only hard part is the hours, but, it's a bakery so this is to be expected.
