Bonjour and welcome to the neighborhood Le Marais/Buvette du Marais! As much as I enjoyed their Mill Valley location, this one has a different vibe that feels more inviting - perhaps better feng shui? You just have to experience it in person!
Food is stellar all around, whether you're there for a coffee and pastry (many types to choose from) or you're there for a buckwheat style crepe, you can't go wrong. The portions are just right and although they can feel light, they're flavorful with quality ingredients. The Grande Complete crepe had a great ratio of prosciutto to greens, the Forestiere crepe had generous slices of mushrooms with a creamy filling (quite decadent), the Marguerite had the juiciest and sweetest cherry tomatoes, and was packed with garlic flavor, and the Bleu d'ete crepe (sweet one) had a balance of blueberry sweetness with the acidity of the fresh blueberries on top. I would go back for all of the crepes!
Their pastries will entice you from the moment you walk in. The butter just glistens on their croissants, but they also offer tarts, cookies, and even Parisian flan (still on my list to try)! Kouign-amann batons are perfectly buttery and flaky - I only wish the baton were longer! The chocolate chip cookies are full of quality chocolate, and if you happen to take any home, pop them in the oven for a couple minutes and they're irresistible!
Lastly, none of these delectable goods would be possible without hardworking and awesome staff. I really appreciated the authenticity of the cafe as some of them spoke French fluently, which I'm sure the two French ladies behind me also valued. Both of my experiences with every employee has been positive and memorable. I have to shout out Jordan in particular as he was the primary reason for my review! He had a genuine presence, checked in on the patrons, and provided really friendly and excellent service! I'd say he was as fabulous as he was good-looking!
