I’ve always had a good experience with Buzz - friendly staff and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS baked goods. However, my recent experience takes the cake (😉). I ordered a custom cake through their online ordering service (which I’ve used many times). When I received The text that I could go pick it up, the bakery had zero record of my order and did not have a cake prepared. They had a cake ready within three hours for me with not one percentage point less in quality. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, calm, and so helpful. This is a small business… This is community… Shop local.

Google
Just what you would want in a coffee bake shop: delicious hot coffee and fresh tasty baked goods and breakfast sandwiches, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere with additional seating outside, and a convenient location with nearby parking. Fresh water bowls outside for the pups and they sell yummy dog treats too! One of my favorite stops in the DC area.

Google
Very friendly and helpful service. Quick turn around for food and coffee. Would recommend: parmesan leek pastry and iced honey lavender latte.

Google
I live super close to Buzz Bakeshop and honestly the food is so good. They also make their coffee perfect. Not to tear down another business but this place is so much better than Tatte. The food and drinks at Buzz are consistent - consistently delicious. Can't recommend enough

The atmosphere is very peaceful, and the staff are kind and helpful. Their cakes are fresh and delicious. You can sit outside and enjoy your coffee.

Google
Great service, really fun place to eat, and delicious gluten free food. From the breakfast sandwich to the cookies it was all amazing. I’ll definitely be back.

Google
The Hello Dollie bar was delicious! I love a good dessert, so I tried this place out on my way through. We loved the Hello Dollie. We also tried a red velvet, mocha, and carrot cupcake. They all tasted pretty good, but thought the frosting was a little buttery and very sweet for our liking. The staff were quick to greet us and very helpful.

Google
I ordered a birthday cake online because they were the only bakery I could find with a dairy free and gluten free option. BEST CAKE EVER. It wasn’t just a good gluten free cake - it was a fabulous cake! I’ll order again when I am next in town undoubtedly. That no-dairy buttercream is amazing!

Yelp
Popped in because I heard they had Whoopie pies. Buzz is in a very walkable neighborhood. Laid back atmosphere and seems to be a community hangout. They have indoor & outdoor seating. Plenty of baked goods to choose from. You can pre order cakes & other items. The service was efficient. The whoopie pie was bigger than I expected but tasty although a little dry. I would come back if I was in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Stopped in for a few cupcakes, and they even had a few gluten free! Service was very friendly and quick. The bake shop had a few people drinking coffee and working, and it was relaxed environment. Will be back!

Yelp
Friendly people, good dirty chais, and lots of baked goods including a small assortment of gluten-free baked items that don't taste like sand. We love our neighborhood coffee spot. You can also order ahead, which is convenient if you need to get a bunch of cupcakes to go. Their gluten-free vanilla/vanilla cupcakes are also dairy free... I have celiac and bring them to family gatherings, and no one even notices that they're gluten-free! Moist and good.

Yelp
I ordered a smash cake for my son's 1st birthday. Positives: I was satisfied with their service from the beginning. Terri was helpful with giving me options in how to get close to the cake I envisioned. We communicated the details via email which helped everyone stay on track and focus on the details. The cake was only $35 which I thought was a great price. The cake tasted delicious. It wasn't too sweet, given that it was made with vanilla, butter cream, and oreos. Needs improvements: It didn't have the smash factor I expected. Especially for a one year old, he couldn't smash it even with my help. Also, there was more icing than there was cake. Lastly, the oreo filling was dry, not moist as I expected a filling to be. Overall, I would recommend this bakery. They just need to improve on a few things.

Yelp
extremely friendly staff, good tea options, the window has lots of pasteries that are ok. the cookies and cupcakes are popular and ok. coffee is fresh.. nothing to write home about but a nice solid location cafe with friendly staff and lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. great for meeting up with a friend or planning a business meeting

Yelp
Apparently German Chocolate cakes are hard to come by in this area. Buzz to the rescue! I stopped in randomly one day looking for a sweet treat and struck up a conversation with Terry, who is extremely helpful and nice. German chocolate was not part of their normal custom cake offering but they were able to accommodate my order. It was a seamless ordering process, I didn't have any tight turns rounds or crazy requests. The cake was a hit, moist and very "heavy" for a 6". I've been twice and never had to wait in line longer than 5 min to order. I've also had the red velvet and carrot cupcakes- both moist and delicious. They make a lot of coffee syrups in house, so I'm curious to try those. Buzz has a great atmosphere, nice decor, great customer service and ample street parking. The desserts are good and they have a great selection. I'll surely return!

Yelp
I ordered a half sheet cake and 4 dozen cupcakes, assorted flavors, for a baby shower. The cake was moist and flavorful and the cupcakes ( carrot cake, vanilla, the Buzz coffee flavor and the "9:30") were delicious ( only had 4 leftover). Also the staff was very helpful with the ordering process and the items were ready at the appointed pick up time. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
i'm not one to normally post a review, however this was the worst birthday cake i have ever seen. for $75 you can expect a late, rushed cake. no credit, partial refund, but don't worry they still expect a tip! i don't recommend this to anyone because wtf
google avatar

Yelp
Quirky vibe with an excellent selection of pastries and treats. Even a few gluten free selections. Helpful staff too!

Yelp
Generally, a good place w good service, but on weekends, the professional staff is not there. When I order a biscuit warmed w butter, don't tell me that it would inconvenience you to go to the baking area to get me some butter. It's your job; go get the butter, and stop making me feel like I am putting you out.

R M.

Yelp
Buzz is an absolute gem in our community. My favorite is their apple pie, but all of their pies and the cupcakes/cakes are delicious!

Yelp
Many changes since my previous review. Buzz used to be open late and over the years had become one of my favorite spots to casually meet people. I met both of my doulas here. Now that they close at 6 pm, I don't get to spend a lot of time hanging out, but it is still a comfortable venue to hang out earlier in the day, although it tends to be more crowded on weekends and they tend to run out of the most sought after bakery items. They have ample seating outside but the intersection tends to be busy with construction and trucks, so it can be a little loud for a Zoom meeting or even a phone conversation. Parking in the lots can get harder around lunchtime but lots of people are doing a quick rush to Tropical Smoothie and taking food to go, so spaces might open up quickly. There is also street parking in the area if you don't mind walking a block or two. The baked goods have improved. I won't give a lot of recommendations because everything I like tends to be sold out by the time I arrive (good for them I guess) but I always enjoy the cookies and tea. If you get a scone, biscuit, or sandwich with cheeses, please consider requesting that they heat it. The cupcakes have improved and are generally moist (I don't get vanilla) and I would imagine the cakes and other items are at least decent too. Not better than Lavender Moon but Lavender Moon isn't a place where you can comfortably lounge and sip tea with your dessert. If you come later in the day, do not despair because whatever they have left, should be pretty good. My favorite thing about Buzz is the customer service. I always feel welcome here and they remember that I like honey in my tea, though I am not a daily customer. I also appreciate their diverse workforce and they have several people who have worked there for a while - seems like a good business to support. And yes, while Misha's is closer to me and has better coffee, it's also much harder to find (free) parking, dimly lit (not a great place for reading), and generally not comfortable and/or quiet enough for me to concentrate like Buzz. I can finish my work at Buzz (during the week). Even the conversations at the big table seem unobtrusive and not disruptive - even if they were, I can always go sit at a table outside.

Yelp
After stopping nearby for coffee, we took a stop over to the shop to see what there was to try. Quite a varied selection of pastries and baked goods. I exercised some restraint and had the 9:30 cupcake and a slice of the French silk pie. Cupcake: WOW! Rich, dark chocolate cake, perfect ganache topping and the interior cream was so good. The textures were all spot on and it wasn't overly sweet. The pie was also just what I was hoping for. The whipped topping is every-so-slightly sweetened, but it's light flavor balances the right chocolate filling. Chocolate crust was so good I wish I had more.

Yelp
A friend of a friend and I recently ordered a cake for our mutual friend's bridal shower from Buzz Bakeshop. The cake was beautifully decorated but embarrassingly dry. I couldn't eat more than two bites and I don't think a single bridal shower guest finished their piece. The cost for a 12 inch decorated cake with tax was $155. At that price point, the cake should be edible at the very least. I won't be returning.

Yelp
I ordered a cake weeks ago for my daughters birthday and even had email communication with the bakery who confirmed the order and I went to pick it up and it was the wrong cake entirely and they told me they couldn't fix it but would give me HALF OFF if I took the cake... they did not try to rectify the situation and said there's no decorators on the weekend and I left in tears because I do not have a cake for my daughters birthday now an hour before it starts with 50 people... worst customer service ever, will never go back there, it's obvious they do not care about their customers.

Yelp
For the second birthday I was able to get Buzz Bakeshop cupcakes. These cupcakes are amazing. I truly enjoyed every bit.
google avatar

Mai S.

Yelp
Love buzz bakeshop. I always go for slices of cake. It's hard to find bakeries that sell cake slices. Cupcakes are bakery staples. The cakes are always moist and fresh.

Yelp
Super rich moist cupcakes! The S'mores cupcake is more like a decadent chocolate cupcake with a graham cracker crust and a dollop of marshmallow filling. While I've had more cupcakes resemble S'mores, the cupcake was quite tasty! I'm not typically a big fan of chocolate cupcakes and frosting (vanilla all the way!), but the creamy fudgy frosting was out of this world with a super moist chocolate cake. The Cookies and Cream Oreo cupcakes had a mountain of vanilla Oreo buttercream frosting on a rich chocolate cupcake and a dollop of the same cookies and cream filling inside. While it was fun to try, I wasn't really impressed with it. While both cupcakes were good, I enjoyed the S'mores over the Cookies and Cream!

Yelp
Best bakery in the DMV area! We use Buzz bakeshop for every celebration/get together because you really can't call it a party unless you have cake, right!? I had a civil ceremony in February 2022 and I was able to order it in advance and they even offered to decorate it with flowers for me. I didn't end up taking up the offer but I still think that it was very nice for them to offer. We get a lot of our birthday cakes from here and they're really great with customizing some things so don't be afraid to ask them! Highly recommend even popping in there for a coffee and a quick treat. My favorite is the ham and cheese scone with a caramel latte.

Ashlee K.

Yelp
We could not be happier with the cake and matching cupcakes from Buzz Bakeshop! They were absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing! The service was great. Communicated through email and received prompt responses. We will definitely be ordering from them again in the future.

Yelp
Great things about this place: affordable cakes with beautiful designs and they taste good too! Excellent service. Cons are that the coffee and general pastries are just not great. Would return for some things, but not others.

Anonymous A.

Yelp
I tried my very first carrot cupcake from Buzz. It meant so much to me - and it was wonderful! I'm usually an icing-over-cake person, so when I like the cake part of the cupcake more than the icing, that should tell you how incredible the pastry was. It had a wonderful, not-too-overpowering spice flavor to it, much like a pumpkin spice cake, but more "carrot." There were also little bits of carrot in the cake, which led my sister, who I shared the treat with, to exclaim "We're being healthy then, and getting our vegetables today - haha!" Seriously - I've always been a huge fan of white chocolate/raspberry as my top, favorite flavor of all time (Not sold at Buzz - but heyyyyy now that I mention it I highly suggest it!), but I think carrot from Buzz has at LEAST placed itself in second place (in terms of non-seasonal. Sorry, but pumpkin exists). I was very scared to get the cupcake, but Buzz made the whole thing a lot of fun, sweet, and enjoyable. Shoutout to Nemo for helping me select the cupcake, and making me feel more comfortable and safe in trying it. Thank you all - for everything!

Ashley D.

Yelp
This was literally the best bake shop I've been to in so long. Everything was delicious and affordable. They had so many vegan and vegetarian options for us and I will definitely comeback again 100%
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best cupcakes in the DC area. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price of said cupcakes. But it probably keeps me from getting some every day.

barbara m.

Yelp
Stopped in to pick up some cupcakes to spread some holiday cheer at the office. I was lucky to snag festive cupcakes! The only problem was that they were ALMOST too pretty to be eat. Everyone enjoyed.
google avatar

Jess D.

Yelp
I ordered a custom cake for my son's birthday and WOW it looked great but it tasted Amazing!! And I have eaten some delicious dessert before but this cake was probably better than my wedding cake. I definitely will be back for more cake orders!
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Oh Buzz, I wish I liked you more than I do. I have tried Buzz Bakeshop 5-6 times now. Each time I leave disappointed. The coffee is not great - both my husband and I think it is our least favorite in the area, although my latte last time was actually okay. I've had cupcakes from them 2 or 3 different times and each time I am disappointed by how dry they are. My husband and I have tried many items including croissants, cinnamon roll, yogurt parfait, lemon poppyseed muffin, blueberry muffin, scones, and have been disappointed every time. We really tried to give it a chance!! They are always, always dry. I did really enjoy their cake pop, though.
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
They have a variety of pastries and other foods. Plus, coffee. It's a cute neighborhood place. I needed a cake and left a message for a callback and they actually called. I was able to place my order with no problems. If you haven't been, do try them.
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
Still buzzing after all this time, the place has more pastries than one knows what to do with. Near my office HQ, it's convenient for your morning fix of caffeinated beverages and breakfast sweets/sands. For coffee/lattes/cappuccinos, there's nothing that mesmerizes you with the style. It gets the job done usually if that's what you're looking for. The breakfast sandwiches are served on croissants which is a nice touch but they are pressed and pretty basic. The word is their cupcakes are where it's at so maybe that's what I need to order. Buzz was a buzzing shop but it appears to be sliding. The location will keep it busy but it could step its game up if it wants to be better than ok.
google avatar

Sawyer R.

Yelp
The cupcakes were good, nothing spectacular but I enjoyed! The red velvet was great! I also tried the Hive Cookie which someone raved about but it wasn't anything I would seek out. The coffee was good and the environment was nice. There were lots of options so I would want to go back and try things like all the cookies and other pastries/breakfast items. There were a lot of options, a little overwhelming but I would go back.
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
Lovely bake shop in a lovely location. Nice shaded tables outside if the weather permits. Next door to Russian gourmet and across the street from Rustico
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
Thank you, Buzz, for saving the day! My daughter and I showed up at closing time and they still sold us delicious cupcakes and a Whoopie pie! Phew because my husband and I had Buzz cupcakes for our wedding 15 years ago tomorrow! Can't thank y'all enough!
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
They did such an amazing job with my daughters birthday cake! We provided the topper and they were gracious enough to apply it for us. Everyone on staff was so helpful throughout the process. The cake was delicious too. 110% recommend!

Caro W.

Yelp
Really great food - they have really yummy breakfast sandwiches which are always hot off the panini press. They have just really great baked goods too, beautiful cakes and cupcakes and then also traditional bakery items like croissants, cookies, etc - which are all insanely delicious. I think I've tried about everything from Buzz at this point and can say the food and coffee is fantastic. It's also a really great work environment so I come here to work from my laptop pretty often. The tables in the back facing the entrance are great - there is great lighting there for zoom meetings and it's never too loud in there.
google avatar

Antonia N.

Yelp
Buzz Bakeshop has some truly decadent cupcakes that you need to try! We've stopped in for a cupcake or two for a weekend treat and also ordered them for a party. They were so accommodating with my nephew's peanut allergy and made special cupcakes for my husband's graduation. I don't know which is my favorite - their famous buzz chocolate with espresso frosting, their luscious lemon with lemon buttercream or their creamy peanut butter frosting on chocolate cake. Totally yum!!!
google avatar

Kirk B.

Yelp
I was biking among the many trails the DMV has to offer and decided to turn off on the street where Buzz Bakeshop is located. This is a great place, as there is plenty of room inside and out to enjoy coffee and nearly everyone that was seated was on their computer, so it was nice and quiet while I read a book that I had with me. Also, the bathrooms were clean and they have ice cold complimentary water available too while you wait. During my stay I had a fantastic ice latte and a breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon that was fresh, warm, and tasty. I will definitely be stopping by to try out one of the other food items and another iced drink if I am down this way again.

Yelp
My go-to at least once a month. Delicious treats. Moist cookies. Great value -- on DoorDash

Aparna P.

Yelp
I used to frequent Buzz for cupcakes when I lived in Alexandria and always loved them. Flash forward to last week when I was looking to order a cake for my friends surprise engagement party and I remembered Buzz does cakes! I ordered a 12 inch chocolate cake with vanilla filling and vanilla finish and everyone really liked it! I choose the Rustic finish which looked really pretty. One note - the 12 inch cake is pretty large and very very heavy! The staff at Buzz were super helpful and easy to work with. I would recommend ordering if you need a cake!

Julia J.

Yelp
I love the casual vibe while maintaining a slightly fancy dessert and pastry selection. It's like the fancy, cafe next door. Servers are mostly really amazing. I wouldn't recommend going if you're in any way on a time constraint. I've gone a handful of times where the wait was 15-25 minutes from joining the line to getting your food. For a cafe, this seems pretty unacceptable. It's not a restaurant where you're going for a full-on sit down dining experience. I often notice people join the line and leave, including myself. I also noticed a couple times one server is carrying all the weight while the other one is dragging foot...Felt really bad for the guy as you could see he was trying his best to meet the needs of the customers without losing it completely because the lines just so backed up. Observed a few times like that. Also, the scones in particular for a few months have been off. I'm not sure what happened as they weren't always that way.
google avatar

Hoda A.

Yelp
I have tried most of their cupcakes which I like. The 9:30 is a delicious cupcake rich in chocolate but not too sweet, topped with chocolate glaze. It is hard to find Mocha cupcakes and they have a great one here. They have other bakery items and coffee as well. They also have outdoor and indoor seating.

Mercedes B.

Yelp
This bakery is so welcoming and warming. the cupcakes are so delicious and moist. My daughter has a wheat allergy, so I am so thankful that they have gluten-free options as well. We will definitely visit often.

Sam T.

Yelp
SO GOOD!!! I had their 9:30 club cupcakes and was blown away. Can't wait to go back. Looking forward to what else they offer

Jay H.

Yelp
Terrible customer service and mediocre cupcakes. I ordered this place on Caviar and the drink (iced latte) arrived partially full, like it was already partially consumed. I called multiple times to inquire if they sent the drink out like this before I drink it, and no answer. Lastly, the cupcakes are lowkey dry/plain. You're better off going with Baked & Wired in DC if you want an amazing cupcake. 2 stars because their bacon, egg, & cheese sandwich is pretty good.

David A.

Yelp
I've been to Buzz before for the cupcakes-this time, I was looking for something different. I got these torts/mini-pies: s'mores, lemon meringue, and something else-can't remember but it had blueberries in it. These pastries were DELICIOUS! S'mores was good-you can't go wrong with it. But the lemon meringue was ridiculous. The lemon was perfect-tart and sweet. The one whose name I'm forgetting was also incredible. I'm looking forward to trying more of their items.
google avatar

Dylan K.

Yelp
I cannot rave enough about a dessert I had from here that I can't remember. Essentially, a big chocolate cupcake. One of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Phenomenal!
google avatar

Singi D.

Yelp
Ordered the buzz cupcake, carrot cupcake, blueberry scone & a latte for delivery during COVID-19. Carrot cake was the best. Moist. I've been to this bakery many times. Nice cute spot. Has some space for laptops, cute little neighborhood and I'm a big fan of rustico.
google avatar

Sonia K.

Yelp
This place is DELICIOUS. I had a friend surprise me with some cupcakes for my birthday. Not knowing what it was, I left the cupcakes in my car for about 10 hours but when I finally opened the bag up and ate them, they were still incredibly moist and tasted like they just got out of the oven. The cakes themselves were super moist, and held a lot of flavor. The frosting was not overly sweet (which is very hard to find) and had distinct flavors throughout. 10/10 would recommend for a yummy gift!
google avatar

Sean S.

Yelp
Highly recommend! So many options it was very tough to choose -- I went with the blueberry pie and it was delicious. I took it home and had it à la mode; I certainly will be back to try more desserts. Please update your hours on Yelp! (They close are 6pm and not 9pm), enjoy!

Jeep B.

Yelp
I stopped in with my spouse on a Monday night on a holiday. We were first time customers and sat by the window. My spouse and I got tea and coffee. We also picked up a few cupcakes in a small lemon meringue pie. The place is charming. But service is kind of slow. The food is OK. But just OK. The ambience is actually one of the best things about the place. It was relaxing. I am not sure if I'd go back since there are so many options. But it was nice.
