Buzz Bomb will get you buzzed real good. While Emily and I were sitting at Custom Cup Coffee, we were trying to figure out what was in the area that we could walk around to and get some food and a drink. While I made a general list of stuff to do in Springfield, we wanted to see what this part of Springfield had to offer. Buzz Bomb was on my list of places to check out and conveniently, it was about a 5 minute walk away. So, we took our coffees and hit the pavement. Emily and I were greeted by some very friendly bartenders and we took a seat at the bar and got to looking at their beer selection. Emily sampled two of their beers while I ordered the Nanner, Nanner, Nanner. She sampled my beer after her two samples and immediately ordered what I got. It’s a hefenweizen that doesn’t taste quite like a normal hefe. Usually, Emily can’t stand a hefe but really liked this one. I thought it was decent but tasted like if someone who never had a hefe would make if they tried to replicate one. I ended up having two 5oz glasses of it while Em had just the one in the 40 or so minutes we were here. I’ve seen Buzz Bomb stickers at other breweries so it was nice to finally get to check them out. What I wasn’t expecting was Buzz Bomb to be coated head-to-toe in stickers. Everywhere you looked, you’d see at least a handful of stickers on the walls, ceiling, cabinets, cooler, all over the bathroom and anywhere else you could put a sticker. The bartender hooked us up with a few stickers for our collection and then told us a lot of corny dad jokes. She was a hoot and helped make our time here really fun. She was also great at letting us know all the fun activities going on in Springfield during the summer. Unfortunately, we had to move on to the next spot as we were both hungry and didn’t want the beer to hit too hard. That means Buzz Bomb is good for a spot of drinking but if you want food, you’ll either have to go upstairs to the Korean BBQ place or pick out one of the many places in the area to eat. I’ll definitely be back in the near future to grab a shirt (and more beer).

Atmosphere, beers on tap, music choice, people, service. This place is exactly what every brewery aspires to be. If you’re in Springfield forever or just for a weekend, I promise you that you didn’t actually see the town until you’ve checked out Buzz Bomb!!!

Google
Great experience at the bar with Nathan taking care of us. It was awesome to hear the origin story of the beers and the brewery itself. They have both their own and guest beers on tap and in cans. Nathan walked us through the different flavor profiles. We'll be sure to stop in again on future trips to Springfield.

I enjoyed their American IPA and the atmosphere and service were good too. Live music tonight, Thursday, was a bonus. Small place but worth the visit.

Google
Such a great brewery. My husband and I came in on a Sunday afternoon and our bartender (cannot remember her name but had fun colorful hair) was sweet and fun and informative about the beers and what to do for fun in the area as a tourist. Highly recommend. Great beer and service!

Google
An awesome low key beer bar. Most their own beers with a few guest taps. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good local beer selection as well as those traveling through town. It definitely tops my list as one of the better beer bars I’ve been to in Illinois. With certified cicerone bartenders they know their stuff! Come check this out! No food on site; but plenty around within a few blocks to grab after.

#Springfield is buzzing with its local craft brewery. A proper way to sit out on the street patio relaxing with the locals watching the premire league. Welcome to the Tridence Family of recommended awesomeness...

I think the logo for this place looks cool. It kind of looks like the emblem of the squadron that I used to be a part of in the Marines. Aviation ordinance was my MOS. So, the buzz bomb logo really kind of sticks out to me I think it looks really cool.

Yelp
Triple B is my second brewery today and my 299th overall. Stick with me and I'll hit 300 today. I can already tell Triple B is going to be a good stop. It's a hope in the wall kinda place with a really cool lighting fixture on the wall made out of pipes. Drop everything and go check it out! Not a lot of people here yet at 4:45 on a Friday but a few. Good music was playing and the gent at the bar hooked me up with a flight. I just told him to give me the best they've got and hopefully he did. We will find out together... The Barfight Brown Ale was up first. This is an American brown ale. This one took me back a little to the old days which got me into brewing when Pete's Wicked Ale was big. Nice brown with a bit more kick than your English milds. Helles Bound and Down is a very nice Helles lager. Not much else to say. True to style and tasty. Pennyweight Amber ale was next and honestly I didn't love it. It wasn't terrible by any means it just didn't speak my language. Last up was Walk of Shame a milkshake IPA which is a style I often enjoy. I liked this one, although it seemed a little light in flavor for a milkshake IPA. Of course it might just be my palate. Triple B is serving up some great beers. I also happened to be in just a few days after a big fire right across the street. Triple B was pulling together donations for the businesses and people affected which is so good to see. We spend far too much time arguing over politics and BS differences and not enough on what we have in common. Sad that it takes a tragedy to pull so many of us out of it. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you! I hope my confidence is not misplaced.

Yelp

Yelp
Buzz bomb brewing is an exciting small local microbrewery. Upon entering you're immediately greeted and you can feel the modern touches to a very old building. The history of the building is amazing too, the beer locker is the old vault to the first women's bank of Springfield. Enough on history though, you're here for brews. They offer a wider variety of beers but my favorite are always the wheat beers. They have a blueberry wheat beer on tap that's not made by them but it's delicious. They also have a Hefeweizen beer coming out soon that I got to sample which was really delicious. Overall I love the spot and make it a regular visit when in the capital.

Yelp
We drove from out of town to getting to this business being closed. Online and on the front door it clearly states open on Sunday from 11-8. Very disappointed. I would have given 0 stars if I could. Update your hours then!!!

Yelp
located right down town Springfield with outdoor seating makes it perfect for people watching great selection of beer

Yelp
The brewmasters at buzz bomb talked us through every beer and were super fun! 10/10 beer, 10/10 service. Buzz bomb is worth the trip from VT! I would highly recommend!!

Yelp
Small, friendly, hip little microbrewery. Seems to have a wide variety of clientele and also a wide variety of pretty darn good beer. Some beers are their own, and some are brewed by other microbreweries, but all of them I've tried are quite tasty. Are you a tattooed up millennial with green hair, or are you a businessman, or are you out on the town with a group of your over-21 family members? Either way stop in here for a cold one the next time you are in the neighborhood. It's a one-of-a-kind place. You'll like it.

Yelp
Went to a few places around town, but this had the best beer selection. We don't like sours so this place fit our taste preferences. Staff super nice. Loved looking at all the brewery stickers. Local supporting local! First time visiting, but definitely will be bank! Kudos guys, keep up the great work!

Ryan R.

Yelp
Love the look of the spot. Very cool stickers all over the place. The glassware was very unique. Smaller spot but just what you are looking for in a micro brewery. Our bartender was very friendly and had great advice on the beers. Also, the free stickers is a nice touch!

Yelp
My fiancé and I stopped In for a few drinks during the day and it was great! Great beers, great staff, super funny group of people. The bartender on staff was Zach and he was great, I'm new to the craft beer scene and sometimes it can be kind of intimidating, people like to gate keep and seem Judgy when you don't know what they're talking about but he wasn't like that at all, I told him my likes and dislikes and he suggested some great stuff! I would most definitely add this to my list of places to return to

Yelp
I had a blast at the June session of buzzed bingo! The staff was very friendly, and there were several appealing seating areas. There were a variety of beers on top, and I enjoyed the Things We Don't Talk About IPA.

Yelp
Husband and I came here on the first Saturday night that they were officially open to the public (I think!). We were THRILLED that this place exists in our little Springfield! I'm old enough to remember when The Plaza occupied this narrow space of downtown. Rest assured, it doesn't look (or smell, lol) the same at all. The decor is hipster and fun without being over the top, and the beers are excellent. We started with a flight - Milkman Chocolate Stout, 217 Common, Stay Golden, and Barfight Brown. They were all really good, but the Stay Golden was probably my favorite. Barfight Brown was really good too, but at 9%, I wasn't ready to have too many of them! The upstairs was where the magic happened for me. They have bookshelves filled with all kinds of different things to pick up and read, and some games to play. When we first got upstairs it wasn't too busy, so we played a few hands of Uno, but then it got noisy pretty quick. All in all, I cannot wait to go back and try some more of their other beers and hang out. If anyone needs me, I'll be reading upstairs!

Yelp
Great selections of beer, chill atmosphere! Bartender was awesome and even gave up some stickers on our way out for our beer fridge.

Yelp
Deff a nice place to go if you want to try bunch of beers! Their flights are very decent priced and most of them taste really good! Located in downtown, pretty easy access to other locations also. Casual nice night out!

Benjamin N.

Yelp
Awesome place, got to chat with the brewers and get to know Buzz Bomb and the Springfield beer scene. Great interior as well looked really neat. Couldn't believe how genuinely happy people were to chat with us and help us out!

Yelp
This brewery has some great beers to choose from and the naming of the beers is super fun! Great local watering hole. The decor is industrial and yet modern by using restored building materials, making the ambiance enjoyable. Friendly staff.

Yelp
The decor of this taproom is awesome. Check out the kitschy tap handles, the steampunk lighting, and the pressed copper ceiling. They made good use of a narrow space. The beer is solid too, with plenty of adventurous ipas for the crowd that's looking for something a bit more crafty than Obed's offerings. Hopefully they brew a hazy ipa soon, an underproduced style! Buzz Bomb is gonna be the next big thing downtown!

Yelp
Stopped in here in the afternoon on a Saturday. Was able to try every beer they had on tap that day. Beer was excellent. The bartender was great. She was informative and she was very nice. Definitely would come back.

Danny S.

Yelp
Buzz Bomb has an incredible staff, great beer and friendly atmosphere! Staff I have met have been inviting, knowledgeable, and do what they can to make you feel welcomed!

Louis T.

Yelp
Friendly staffs. Amazing beers. There's always something new on the menu. Too bad I have to move to different city, I'm gonna miss buzz bomb.

Yelp
Very good selection of craft beers on tap! Something for everyone. The upstairs lounge was a very cool hangout spot. Customer service was perfect, helped with questions and were very helpful! We had a great time!

Katherine K.

Yelp
Interesting place - definitely unique! They had a variety of beers with some non-traditional flavors. I am giving 4 stars just because I wasn't crazy about how my beers tasted (I tried the milkshake IPA and a regular IPA). But this light be your favorite place if you like something different!

Marla R.

Yelp
Great beers. Friendly atmosphere! Bring in a sticker from another brewery and get a free beer! Despite what Yelp says they don't and never let had food! Cafe Mojo great food across street, but only until 3.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Tried the Hefeweizen--very nice, but the clove is definitely more prominent than the banana. The beer cheese pretzel was quite good! I would have these again.
google avatar

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Beer is very good Love the décor! Made great use of the building! A good reason to head to downtown Springfield! Can't wait until the hours of operation are expanded

Tigger C.

Yelp
Great beer at great prices with a fun game room upstairs. I also like that it is a nice mix of older business types with younger in crowd. No food but can order from many local places and walk to or deliver.

Yelp
Fantastic brews, I'm a true ipa fan and their beers are very on point. A must try for the area. One love buzz bomb!

Yelp
This place is such a cool hang out! My boyfriend and I are visiting from Florida, and this was the first place we checked out. We wound up back there later in the night because we couldn't get enough! The staff is super friendly and was welcoming right off the bat, so it was easy to feel at home. Absolutely worth checking out if you're passing through Springfield or need a new hang out spot as a local.

Abby L.

Yelp
Definitely coming back. Great brewery addition to Springfield. Beers were amazing and the atmosphere was perfect
