Great space for exhibiting artworks.

Through the years, during trips to NYC, I almost always went to see art shows at BWAC which were always beautiful, fascinating, inspirational, etc. After the recent sad passing of my brother, John H. Strohbeen 3rd, BWAC provided a wonderful, supportive "Celebration of Life" for John! A lovely 45th Anniversary show was already happening in the space and they added a special area with stage for music and speakers, and seating including comfortable couches, etc. They also provided tasty food! Including some donnated by Poppys! Many people spoke about their experiences with John describing his inspiration, influence and assistance to BWAC as an organiztion and to them as individual artistists. While this was sort of a sad time for our family, it also provided an important picture of his life and the value his existance provided to many! I will continue to view BWAC events even witout my brother. It is a marvelous organiztion providing so much to many creating and viewing art!

2 floors of works from some very talented artists. Over 2000 sqft. We loved it! Not mention the great view of Lady liberty.

Great place to see art and handmade crafts by artists. Exciting location with the best shore view of the Statue of Liberty. The exhibition is in a stone and brick building dating back to 1850. Two excellent restaurants in the neighborhood and a short walk to IKEA

This location has beautiful art that will make you not want to leave.

I visit the Redhook waterfront of a yearly basis for the Redhook Art Walk. I truly enjoy my visits to the BWAC and will make it a point to come back, hopefully, on a more regular basis. If you are in Redhook and want to see art and a Amazon Distrution center *sigh this is a great place to explore. The BWAC is right across the street from Fairway and some other restaurants that look to be interesting even though I am not a Lobster Roll fan. In short the BWAC should be on you hit list if you are in Redhook and looking to see some conversation worthy art.

What a lovely gallery, with wonderful staff and beautiful art. This place deserves more attention then its given. It's always a joy to play here. -Peter & Frank

This is a really beautiful space! The building looks so historic with the wood floors, ceiling beams, exposed bricks and the iron work for the gate and windows. My husband and I came for a performance that my students were acting in. They have a quaint theater space on the 2nd floor in the back. It's equipped with some lighting and sound. It seems there is an ability to control the lights and sound from the tech table behind the audience. While waiting for house to open, we had the opportunity to browse the art around in the gallery on the first and second floor. I felt really grateful to be able to see some of the local artists' work. It looked like the artwork were also available for purchase since there were prices on them. Down in the first floor, there was live music too when I was heading out. Awesome artistic spot! Hidden gem!

ARTISTS applying to juried group shows at BWAC should know that they charge additional "handling fees" for shipping your work, storing a crate, needing more than 1 person to install an artwork, or any other reason they feel like. In my case this happened after my piece's install notes were specifically okayed by a curator ahead of time. And no, this "handling fee" does not pay for professional art handlers. I feel that they see national shows as a revenue stream.

bwac 2016 A great day of interesting, creative, imaginative, innovative & beautiful art at #BWAC in Redhook Brooklyn. It was cool meeting the artist, Janice Wiess, whose pieces of which we own 6. We've been coming to BWAC for approx 8 years & love it every time. Coming back for ladies day in two weeks!

Great art gallery in Red Hook. Wonderful space. Big windows with excellent views of the Statue of Liberty. Can't get any better than that. Great artwork, some photos, some paintings, alot of experimentation, ie photos printed on canvas, and other interesting materials. Suggested donation of $4, well worth it! We went when they were having an anime feature. The anime was just so-so. But still...very kewl idea. All the artwork can be purchased right on the spot, and some very affordable! Great place to take a date ;)

Great artist's showcase. Set in old warehouse on Red Hook waterfront, which is perfect backdrop for amazing artwork - from digital prints to sculptures. Walking old wooden floors, enjoying old architecture and soaking in the creativity.

I prepaid for silent auction pieces and they were never delivered. Excuse by a very rude man named John..we are to busy to ship them out. Asked for a credit and weeks later have not received it. Same excuse by a new employee...we are too busy and I haven't learned how to issue a credit.

Big Warehouse Gallery Right off the pier Showcasing local artists worth seeing.

Just visited at least my dozenth BWAC art show ! It's always fun and worth doing. Housed in a huge 19th century brick warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn, it seems a stone's throw across New York Bay at this point to the Statue of Liberty. Fairway is across the street, Ikea is nearby, and Van Brunt Street has a growing number of interesting stores and restaurants to visit. A very enjoyable outing! As for the art, the roster of artists seems to change a lot from one show to the next, and there are always hundreds of artists showing a total of thousands of works for sale. Some of these artists are very good, many are so-so, but it's free to visit and you will find enough good work to make the trip enjoyable. There are usually a few bargains-- ie, fine work at an affordable price. The organizers provide an attractive space with free food ( contributions welcomed) and live music at openings, with light refreshments thru the run of the show. There are several shows each year. I would give 5 stars if the number of really good artists increased substantially.

I was able to enjoy the recent BWAC spring exhibit. Very cool location, huge exhibit with great variety, fundraising auction of donated works that can possibly be gotten for very reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit. Exhibits are held three times a year.

I love exhibiting and attending art shows at BWAC. Here is an organization that respects artists and helps them. I love how the experienced artists help out those of us still learning. Its greatly appreciated to have such nice people. The art itself is amazing from so many different people. You can find everything from paintings, to glass work, to sculptures to film and music being performed live. A suggested donation is requested so this is great for families. A truly wonderful organization.
