The 20 Best Restaurants In Hoboken - Hoboken - The Infatuation

"Bwe Cafe has two locations in Hoboken, both of which have ample space for camping out with one of their seasonal lattes and your laptop. Their cold brew is some of the best in town, and there’s a solid collection of pastries if you want to meet up with a coworker you actually like over a chive and cheese scone. The newest location on Adams Street is attached to a pop-up retail space and satisfies every urbanite's three most primal needs: good coffee, pantry staples, and plants." - anne cruz, kerry smith, marissa lamastra, michael sinatra

Google
This is my first time at bwè cafe, and it was incredible. I got an iced chai latte and a bwèkfast sandwich. The sandwich was extremely delicious, and the sweet sriracha dip that came along with it was a perfect combination. Genuinely cannot recommend this enough, it was one of the best things I’ve eaten. The iced chai latte was also good, and cheaper compared to other places for the same size. The atmosphere is cozy, but unfortunately I had to take my meal to go. However, the way they packed my sandwich was extremely well, and it remained very hot for long time. I would definitely recommend this cafe, especially the bwèkfast sandwich!

Google
Cozy place with a few sitting options to choose from. We went there on Sunday afternoon (around 4pm) and we were able to sit without having to wait. We had Latte and Matcha Loaf. The Loaf was really good (I am a big fan of Matcha so maybe I am biased). Maybe a bit too sweet for my taste but it was good. I would order it again. The Latte was good, pretty standard.

Google
Delicious coffee and delicious matcha. I have bought avocado toast several times, but I find it inconvenient to eat it because the tomatoes and other vegetables are cut very finely, and the coarse bread is served with plastic cutlery that can break haha. I like the atmosphere in the establishment, the service staff is friendly.

Google
Used to be a wonderful place to get a latte. The guy before me ordered a cappuccino and it looked fine but the latte I got looks and tastes like it was spewed from a vending machine (photo of drink without any mixing, that's how it is). Bitter Expresso and was extra hot (which was not requested).

Google
Avocado toast was decent, albeit lacking a tiny bit more salt. Huge portion. Poached eggs were good. Matcha latte was also good. They asked for sweetened or unsweetened, which I appreciated. Service was 3 ⭐, not because it was bad, but was just a tad slow. Based on Google maps, this was one of only 2-3 cafes within a 0.5 mile walking radius of where I was staying temporarily -- the other was star bucks -- and with good reviews, so it was not surprising that it was fairly busy. This was 9am on a June Saturday, and the cafe was probably 80% filled, but there was only one line to order. I believe they have a single order intake machine. So the line was at least 5 people long the whole 30 minutes I was there, and people probably had to stand in line for up to 10 minutes. At one point, there were 2 or maybe even 3 baby strollers in the cafe, and 4-5 little kids. Point is, it seems to be a popular shop, perhaps owing in part to the lack of many other options in the area, so, as a customer, you should be prepared to wait and also embrace the mild chaos 😄

Google
The coffee is delicious and the staff is super nice, but I have to deduct major points for allowing the amount of laptops that I saw in the cafe. I saw many other customers who ordered a coffee and food struggling to find a place to sit while 9 people with laptops took over half the tables and did not have visible food or drink. I spoke to a friend about this and she mentioned it was common for this cafe. I really liked their blueberry cold brew, but I can’t think of going to breakfast to this place if I know I will not be able to enjoy my meal while people are taking up the tables for their work. I even saw a couple who split up and took 2 tables to work instead of sitting in one table and using 2 chairs. If you are ordering to-go, then yes, I would highly recommend this place.

Google
Super cute neighborhood cafe with lots of comfy seating and good coffee. Live music sometimes. Very decent food options throughout the day: egg sandwiches, avocado toast, lunch salads, cold sandwiches, and pastries. I liked the prosciutto fig sandwich on ciabatta which is a new addition to the menu.

Ellen

Google
Brewed coffee was good; they ask if you want light or dark roast which I appreciated. The mixed berry scone was a huge disappointment though. I thought they gave me a plain scone because there were 2 berries inside with no exaggeration. Other than the scone, I liked the vibe of the store and good space to work. There's no wifi on weekends.

Yelp
The espresso and cold brew have been great for years. Don't know much about the food, but when I mentioned that I wanted something fast that wasn't a scone, they directed me to the Bwekfast sandwich, a fine choice. The service is always great. Bwe Kafe was historic for me. Pre-Covid, I returned to the open mic scene here after more than 20 years away. Hopefully my Andy Kaufman-esque "anti-comedy" didn't single-handedly destroy the event, as the open mic is back but run by the Guitar Den with more of a pure music emphasis. (Who would have thought that impersonating my co-worker in the form of a hypothetical review of the little-seen Linklater movie Everybody Wants Some would fail to inspire guffaws?)

Yelp
Bwè kafe is a cozy spot in Newport for a quick drink and bite to eat. Visited on a Friday afternoon, and there were many people working remote here - Free wifi, and the password is easily seen by customers! The portion size of the Oat Bowl was huge - The oatmeal itself pretty bland - The portion of toppings was a surprise! A full banana, had to have been half an apple, and lots of walnuts. if you're going to order the Oat Bowl, come hungry! I would not finish it. The matcha latte was just OK - Not the most flavorful. Would definitely give this spot another try and go for a coffee next time

Yelp
Cute cafe with seating and a bathroom available for customers. Came on a weekend and there were quite many people seated with books and laptops
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
I love the location of this cafe! It was quite packed on a Sunday morning but there was enough movement that we could find a table. The latte was good as well as the cheddar scone and the cutest madelaine.

Yelp
Bwe kafe is a cute coffee shop right by the water in NJ. Came here after a work out class so the coffee was refreshing. It was not the best Iced latte I have had but it did the job. This place is also by a nice park called Newport Green so I am sure people get coffee to go and some snacks and may picnic or take a walk around the park. The staff were nice and the space had a cozy feeling. If I am ever in that area again I would stop by again and try one of their specialty coffees.

Yelp
Most awesome flat white with just warm enough microfoam and balance. Interesting espresso blend includes beans from Haiti. Dan is also pretty cool--spend time that with his thoughts on coffee and go away with more appreciation of the cup you are drinking.

Yelp
A decent coffee shop in Jersey City. The closest to the local park and Waters Soul statue on the Hudson Nothing special Good coffee and didn't see anything special they were offering. Not much seating. Really a grab and go with internet

Yelp
bwe in Hoboken has always been a favorite. The space is CUTE and the coffee is GOOD! You need little else in a neighborhood cafe and this Jersey City loc is no different. I stopped in for a quick lunch and can confirm the space is just as adorable, cozy and welcoming. Lots of seating so it's perfect for working or grabbing a coffee or lunch on your own or with friends. Oh! And everyone working there was lovely and helpful. Vibes are great all around. I got the couscous salad bowl and added grilled chicken. Loved that it came with a very generous olive bread on the side. The bread was fresh and I loved the olive spread. The salad was delicious and oh so filling. It came with a soft boiled egg, a bed of greens, only a sprinkling of couscous, walnuts, feta, cherry tomatoes and the olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette on the side. I do wish that the salad lived up to its name just a little more with a bigger portion of couscous because it wasn't as expected, but still very tasty. A great lunch and I will definitely stop in next time I am bopping around the area and need a bite to eat or a coffee fix.

Yelp
Convenient place in the Newport area and way better than the nearby Starbucks. Observations: 1. It is at a convenient place close to that head statue 2. decent selections 3. lots of space 4. I have had the coffee, breakfast sandwich, and scone. It is really good. 5. Bathroom available 6. It gets very crowded on weekends

Yelp
Great coffee, food and service. Picked up some beans to make at home. Second time visiting this location while traveling.
google avatar

Jenny K. L.

Yelp
Considering that there are only two restaurants in this area, I stopped by skeptical but was pleasantly impressed! First, the service is wonderful and fast! We got the avocado toast and the avocado and tuna sandwich, and they were both super fresh with plentiful avocado on delicious bread. Indoor seating was cute with available outdoor seating. There aren't too many "kid friendly" options, which could be helpful in the future since there is a playground near by, and as long as the quality remains the same as what I ate, I'd come back again!

Yelp
Good casual coffee spot. Really small inside so I usually take it on the go, but Baristas are nice and flavors are usually good.
google avatar

Wilson C.

Yelp
Came here couple times on weekday morning. Seems quite popular among locals. Usually busy and needs short wait on queue to order. Environment is nice. Plenty of seats or tables. Came here Monday and was told kitchen not open Monday so only pastries for breakfast. Came again following day and got smoked salmon sandwich. Quite big and good. Latte/espresso drinks are good here too. Nice place for breakfast.

Yelp
i've only gotten coffee from here but it is such a cute spot. it is not walking distance from where i live and i wish it was because it never disappoints. there's a decent-ish amount of seating inside for a coffee date with a friend or if you want to get some work done. love getting their seasonal blueberry cold brew!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Unpopular opinion, but I did not like my coffee at all. This was the first time I actually threw out my coffee without finishing it - because I just could not finish it, it was so bad. I ordered a cold brew and it was so bitter and it just tasted old and stale. I'm not even sure how to properly describe it, but it just tasted bad. And trust me, I've had coffee all over Latin America and Europe - this was just bad. Staff were nice and friendly though, but I'm not sure I'm venturing back for the coffee.

Yelp
this cafe is amazing!! i got the iced vanilla latte and it is so good -- one of the best lattes I've tried. They have the La Marzocco espresso machine! The ambiance is so nice to get work done and the seating is super cute and comfortable. The prices are extremely reasonable esp for the location -- $4.75 for small Iced latte and $5.25 for large plus $0.75 for flavors. It is even less than prices of popular coffee chains(and tastes better!!!) One of the best cafes I've been to recently!! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the couscous bowl and although it was a solid meal, it definitely could have been better. The balsamic vinaigrette flavors didn't come through and wished that there was something sweet to cut through the mellow flavors of walnut and couscous--either dried cherries or cranberries. I'm not a huge fan of olives, so I'm not going to give my opinion other than it was really strong and my friend felt that the bread didn't have much flavor. The smoked salmon toast with egg salad was actually pretty delish. And the country bread was tasty--definitely would come back if I lived in the city for the variety of toasts. I ordered the vegan turmeric latte and it honestly tasted a little too milky for me without enough flavor, and wished there were more sediments at the bottom.

Yelp
The baked goods are fantastic! Cannot wait to try more options from here. I placed my order on GrubHub and it was ready when I arrived. Heads up the pick up orders are just inside the door. I waited a few minutes on the other side of the room before somebody told me where to go. The line gets in the way, but just poke your walk through. Was on the fence about the breakfast sandwich until I tried it. The crispy layers of croissant go perfectly with the eggs and cheese. And then there's the sriracha sauce...that seals the deal. The couscous salad is pretty good. It's a nice mix of flavor, however, I was expecting the feta to standout a bit more. The real gem of this salad is the phenomenal crispy toast with olive tapenade.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop, great service, and you honestly can't beat the view. Just walk across the street to the little park and enjoy the Manhattan sky line. Delicious cortado!
google avatar

Meaghan G.

Yelp
What a cute and aesthetic cafe! Lots of comfy seating areas and very cozy decor. I ordered the bwekfast sandwich and a matcha latte with less syrup. The sandwich was delicious and I loved the spicy/sweet sauce and the matcha latte hit the spot. Would definitely come back and try other drinks and food!
google avatar

Yelp
It's a very cute local cafe. The workers there are super nice. So far I've gotten * almond milk latte * match latte * chai latte * teddy bear madeleine There has always been a line no matter when I go, but it moves super quick. In and out within 5 minutes.

Yelp
Lovely! Had this place bookmarked for some time now due to the high ratings and I'm glad to add in another 5 star review. Interior is small and quaint. More of a grab and go place. Popped in to grab a coffee for my day of walking around Jersey City. My cappuccino was excellent! Highly recommend this place. :-)

Yelp
Came here for the first time during covid times. All the staff and patron adhered to covid regulations. I picked up the following: Honey ricotta basil toast: SO delicious, ricotta is whipped into a creamy, homogenous texture and laid on thick over the toast. Which had a crunchy crust and soft, chewy center which is my favorite. The combination of ricotta, honey and basil was delicious. Smoked salmon toast: came with a bed of mixed greens and egg salad. This combination was super tasty. Same bread that was with the ricotta toast. Delicious! Match latte: sweetened and with oat milk. I could have enjoyed a slightly stronger match flavor but overall really enjoyed this drink! Would definitely come back again

Yelp
Discovered this place after moving to Newport. It really is such a perfect little neighborhood café. I like that they have interesting blends like Japanese cold brew. The (I think) manager Dan is really friendly and made an effort to learn my name and order on my first few visits. My go-to is an iced caramel latte which is so good! At the time of me writing this, there is no indoor seating, which is a bit sad since the interior is so extremely well designed! There's even a corner with a breathtaking view of the Hudson and Manhattan. But the outdoor seating is still great, and you can get those same stunning views while doing WFH or just relaxing. The wifi I would say is the only weak spot about this place though. I did a speed test and it was about 600kb/second download speed, which is pretty bad. So I just use my hotspot when I come here. Thankfully they have a gender neutral bathroom, which is always nice. After moving here this has became my go-to spot!

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop in Jersey City! We went to bwè kafe to satisfy our morning craving of a good cup of latte and some pastries, and not their lattes were so good! I ordered an Oat Milk Latte and my boyfriend ordered a Caramel Latte and I have to say the coffee they use tastes so smooth; we simply loved it. I would say, even if you don't have any dairy restrictions, try the Oat Latte once, it enhances the flavor altogether and you're gonna love it! Since bother of us are PB&J lovers so the moment we saw they had some baked PB&J Breakfast Bars, we had to order them. And we simply loved how they tasted. Perfectly baked bars with amazing peanut butter and jelly flavor, not too sweet, just the right amount. Oh I also have to commend them for the amount of cleanliness they maintained. Both the baristas were wearing masks and gloves, so that!was great too.
google avatar

Tian G.

Yelp
Love this cafe! They got nice selection of drinks and food! I have tried their latte, chai latte and flat white. All tasty, though sometimes the flat white was on the bitter side. As of food, I enjoyed their carrot cake loaf. Not so much on the sweet side, and was moist and filling. Great pair for an afternoon coffee. Nice atmosphere and vibe. Good service!
google avatar

Yasmine G.

Yelp
Love that they are dog friendly. Don't have a picture because I drank it so fast lol. Really great cold brew, not bitter at all. Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Bwe Kafe has become my go to cafe. The baristas are super friendly and the space has such a nice vibe. Perfect for getting some work/studying done. I'm also obsessed with the bear madeleines! They are so cute and they taste amazing!
google avatar

Yeraldine S.

Yelp
I wrote a review for bwè kafe in Hoboken a while ago but since they have opened their second location in JerseyCity, I have to show this one some love! Everything remains the same, except this spot is bigger and there is more of that natural light. (Oh and the parking situation is so much better here) The interior is still lovely and the service is always welcoming. The best part is that my vanilla lattes are still made on point. I just found out they added a more extensive food menu and that's on my to do list. I've only tried the ham/egg on a croissant which was good! But I'll be back for that pancake stack :)
google avatar

Samir K.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop! Everyone is so nice here and the seating area is pretty cozy. The coffee is great. I get an ice oat milk latte and its delicious. I really appreciate how it taste the same every time. the consistency is perfect. I never have to worry about getting a bad coffee. I literally go here every single day. Maybe even twice a day. The food rocks too. The breakfast sandwich is soooooo good. Perfect buttered croissant, egg and cheese. Their homemade sauce, OHHHHH YEAHHHHH. Not feeling up for all of that? Get the waffle. Don't even warm it up, who cares. It's so good cold (am I weird for this?) take a bite, sip the coffee and close your eyes. Yeah, that's heaven right there. Avocado tuna sandwich SLAPS great for lunch. Grab a bag of chips too and you'll be fine
google avatar

Alex V.

Yelp
This place has a very positive, relaxed vibe to it. The walls are whitewashed, giving it a somewhat Brooklyn-esque atmosphere. The people lounging around at the tables look super chilled out and there's a decent view of Newport Green Park. I picked up a cappuccino to go, and even though I had to wait quite a while for it, it was creamy and smooth. Also grabbed a teddy bear-shaped madeleine pastry, which was so rich, buttery, and delicious. Probably not something you want to be eating every day though.

Andres M.

Yelp
First time going here made a good impression on their coffee! I ordered a simple mocha with whole milk and an extra shot which totaled 7 dollars. It may have been a little expensive, but everything came out perfectly balanced. It was a great way to start my day and I'll probably come back again!
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Got my coffee fix! They offer Japanese cold brew of one wants to try the taste and have it cold during the summer heat waves! Conveniently located on the corner of the block from high rise trails and the trail off of the train station! Cute and contemporary shop.
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
Love this place & their generous sized & affordably prices lattes & salads! The olive spread on their rustic bread is absolutely amazing. The couscous & feta salad had such a generous amount of delicious feta and the vegan avocado salad had to have a least half an avocado in there, maybe more! Nobody gives that much delicious quality food these days! I LOVE their turmeric lattes - an easy and delicious way to get some anti inflammatory benefits in your life. Their almond milk & oat milk lattes are delicious and sized for coffee lovers. They have a water refill area to refill reusable bottles is you carry one. Also the views right outside this shop are absolutely gorgeous. I stop in as often as I can when training to/from the Hoboken station Plus their coffee beans support Haiti. Nothing better than supporting places that do their part to support others!

Elena S.

Yelp
Great coffee, sweet service, healthy snacks, welcoming ambience. I had a chia-date-coconut bar. It was super filling I had to save some for later. Thank you!
google avatar

Ruby T.

Yelp
This is the WORST grilled cheese I have ever had. Cheese is not melt but just layered up in a really bad way. The texture of the bread is not suitable for grilled cheese too. I don't know what I am eating. stay away from this
google avatar

Drew H.

Yelp
Review is based solely on the drip coffee (delicious) and the cauliflower sandwich (with sriracha dressing is amazing). In terms of what you can get out of a coffee shop I was impressed by this place. Positives: Light roast was an exceptional cup of coffee! Vegetarian options that don't suck! Areas for improvement: Salad was a bit bland and underwhelming - instead of the dressing that tastes like nothing, give me the sriracha dressing on everything! Don't expect things to be ready instantly, this is not fast food but it is good food.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
Found this place because it's highly rated and highly reviewed on Yelp and close to my new office. One of the first reviews I read was that the Japanese Cold Brew was good. I wholeheartedly agree with that Yelper. Space was bright and looked cozy and comfortable if you were looking to sit down and get some work done on a weekday or catch up with a friend. I'll come back and try more things most likely. It sounds like some of their food is worth nomming on. We'll see!
google avatar

Emanuel C.

Yelp
Best Soy Chai Latte I have ever had outside of making it myself and they turned me on to Oat Milk...whoa! Super friendly barristas, knowledgeable, and expedient. Right across from a water park where I bring my kids. I'm glad I remembered to check this place out. The ambience is absolutely gorgeous. There is a sweet spot to sit with really comfortable chairs by the large windows. Lots of table space and is very laptop friendly. I don't write at coffee shops...but I will work on social media for my publishing house or relax while working on a chapter edit or two at a shop from time to time. We are still considering the next neighborhood to move into and if we do decide on the new towers here in Newport since my wife works a short ways away in Hoboken (even though I have my heart set on the Upper East Side) this coffee shop will be a welcomed regular stop for me. They also serve drip coffees and sell exotic coffee beans. I am in love with this place.

Shaun P.

Yelp
Coffee is ok. They now open at 8, most people start work at 7 or 8. Opening at 8 is too late. Plus they post their political view all over cafe. I want coffee not their political views that single out paying customers. I'll go somewhere else.
google avatar

Candice Z.

Yelp
My all time favorite cafe in the neighborhood. Their coffee is great, both in taste and in presentation - the beautiful latte art always light up my day! The cafe is really pretty and there are seasonal decorations/flowers which makes the place nice and cozy. The staffs are super friendly and have good taste in music as well. In this location they also offer a variety of brunch/snack dishes. I only tried a few of them, and they are pretty good. I used to come here almost everyday when I lived in the same block. Now that I moved to a new apartment, I still like coming here for some afternoon reading/study on weekends. The team has always been working on making Bwe a better place over the years, which is very inspiring.

Doug W.

Yelp
Great coffee, great service, great people. BWE an all-time favorite!
google avatar

Tina W.

Yelp
Location: Newport has some great options here like bwe kafe. I was stunned by the fact that the place has huge space then I realized oh it aint nyc. Coffee: get their ice coffee and with a splash of cream... damn, some of the best coffee I have ever had. Without the cream, ice coffee is not too sour compared with other coffee shop in NYC and the flavor is then balanced well with the cream, creating a sense of harmony and I can feel about the coffee bean dancing in my tongue. Price: not pricy at all Service: everyone seems to be nicer compared to nyer and place has large space so many people are here chilling together. Overall: fantastic! Loved it! 4 stars
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
This coffee shop is near my friends place and it was my go to spot for coffee while visiting. The cold brew coffee was strong and had great flavor which was perfect on humid days. Their interior design is well done and I like the loft aesthetics of the coffee shop. Their large windows allows natural lighting and have a great view of manhattan. Would recommend this place if you're ever in the area.
google avatar

Azy B.

Yelp
I had a turmeric latte , I enjoyed it a lot. I wish I was closer and could get one of those every day.
google avatar

Suhan K.

Yelp
Decent coffee, no Wi-Fi on the weekends.....gorgeous view of nyc skyline. Not the ideal place to come and get work done on the weekends....not sure why they don't have WiFi in the weekends.... Parking is definitely a challenge....even in the weekends, around the maximum is 2 hrs...staff has ok recommendations.
google avatar

Sandy P.

Yelp
Very good quality cafe in Newport! Right next to the promenade and the Newport park so you can take out your coffee and walk in the neighborhood. Staff is exceptionally nice!
google avatar

Philo C.

Yelp
Latte: 4.0/5.0 The foamed milk has the thickest texture I've ever tasted In Latte, and you can feel the air bubbles break when drinking. Such a great fun, hhhhhh Avocado toast:4.0/5.0 The egg added is a little bit disappointing. But the avocado sauce and the tomatoes &onion is fresh. Also met a 2-year baby girl there who has the brightest smile. She's so cute!!!
google avatar

Zoya L.

Yelp
Quite a cute and cozy place. One of the best matcha I've tried. The avocado toast is ok, nothing special
