"By Clio is one of the many bakeries born out of pandemic baking. Clio Goodman opened her first dessert shop, Puddin’, over a decade ago in the East Village, but started baking in her apartment and selling cakes and other treats at pop-ups before opening her storefront in Gowanus in 2022. The case is stocked with a wide array of flavors, with many more unique flavor combos than you’ll typically see, such as chocolate-apple shoyu, sumac-strawberry labneh, and pistachio, mango, and saffron. For something more classic, the mocha cake is a must — one of those cakes you know you won’t be able to stop eating. Do not miss the Thai tea passionfruit cake if you see it in the display, too." - Mike Chau

"Clio Goodman is back a decade later after opening (then closing) her East Village bakery Puddin’. She’s turning her attention to cakes — an extension of the pop-ups she’s held over the past year — with a bakery headquarters now in Gowanus. Cake slices include cherry tahini, carrot ginger, and coconut rose." - Eater Staff, Melissa McCart

"ByClio Bakery offers stunning celebration cakes adorned with flowers." - Juliet Izon
"I noted that Clio Goodman of bakery By Clio decided her whole team would stay open during the poor air-quality conditions, choosing to continue operations." - Emma Orlow
"Operated by cake maker Clio Goodman, this New York bakery's owner finds the wineglass-as-slicer trend charming and practical—especially for germophobic guests or people who prefer their own serving. Goodman hasn’t tried the technique herself but praises its cuteness and ease for picnics, suggesting you can drink the wine and then invert the glass to create a neat individual portion." - Bettina Makalintal
