i'm a dude. i like clothes, picking out clothes, fashion, style - yada yada yada.
it's a little hippy and flowy, rock n' roll with tinge of country, and urban with a hint of rustic. it's Anthropologie, but less granny. it's hippy, but real hippies couldn't afford it. it's rachel zoe, minus the diamonds and huge cartier panther ring. it's more lindsay lohan/the olsen twins/the sartorialist - not jessica simpson/heidi montag. its a slouchy cleverly detailed marc jacobs bag - not a vuitton logo'd speedy.
that being sad, the true strength of this place is how well edited the collection is. everything is organized by the look, not by brand. you could see a $60 french connection sweater next to a $600 rag&bone jersey dress next to a $20 local tortoise shell artisan wallet. you can buy a complete outfit here without looking like you bought the entire outfit here - and that's what makes this place a true gem.
it is expensive. that being said, if u go in here with the mentality of 'omg let's go in here, it's expensive, but it's a good collection, so we'll just look' - yeah, you're gonna feel slightly inferior and that the sales chicas are pushy.
BUT if you go in with the mentality that u KNOW you're going to drop $500 on 2 or 3 pieces and have that kind of money - you'll think they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. when my friend started a dressing room, the sales associate would pick out shoes and other pieces to go with the stuff she picked out. that i thought, was phenomenal and they were REALLY great pieces to try on with what was already picked out.
strangely though, every time my friend came out all the sales associates were like 'omg it's so pretty . . .' on stuff that was def not 'omg pretty' on my friend - and she agreed too. a girl's gotta eat though (sales girls) so i understand. i was in sales too at one point.
i was offered a beer. that sealed the deal. if i made over 70k a year, this would be the place i would spoil her with sartorial gifts from. this place has a certain old world, hippy/bohemian, timelessness to the stuff that's been picked out for it. you won't see overly logo'd true religions or 'status wear' here.
this place is shutting it down. its buh-nanas. i dieee.
