This Genius New Tool Helps You Design the Ultimate European Rail Journey

Built by flight-free travel specialists Byway, this interactive route-planning map is designed to help you effortlessly plan a perfect, seamless rail trip around Europe by land and sea. After entering your starting location and timeframe, the map pulls up every destination across the continent that can be reached within your chosen dates – for example, travelling from London for two weeks in May returned 147 options. From there you can pick destinations, and the tool auto-generates a full multi-day itinerary that not only includes train routes but also accommodation and recommendations of things to do in each place. It allows personalisation at any point, such as adjusting the number of nights in each city and selecting alternative accommodation. We have just returned from a 15 day fantastic Slovenia/Istria trip with Byway. So many memories, great itinerary, lovely hotels, fab support team. We had 2/3 nights at most stops which gave us a real chance to get to know the area, people, and food. All fueled by €5 Aporol Spritzs. Once we got the hang of the Interrail app and everything the journey guide provided ( updated regularly by Byway,) we fully embraced the slow travel safe in the knowledge that the team would keep an eye on us if we needed help. Cant wait to explore other trips with them.

Fantastic company if you’re looking for a no fly holiday, this is definitely the company to use. From their brilliant concierge service at the planning and booking stage, where we always spoke with the same person (Hanish) to the WhatsApp support whilst away, was second to none. We felt really listened to when planning with no pressure or ‘hard sell’ from Hanish, who was contactable with via phone or email and answered all of our questions in good time. They sort everything from tickets, timings and ensuring all accommodations are within easy reach of public transport links. The holiday, traveling by train to Switzerland then Italy was beautiful, with our time in Switzerland being the highlight of the trip. The people there were so friendly and welcoming and the country was beautiful! We felt at times that Italy, staying in Varenna on Lake Como, were not always so welcoming of tourists and this might be something to bear in mind for any future travels. Overall an amazing trip provided by a brilliant travel company!

Booked a 9D/8N Eurorail trip to Germany/Switzerland/Paris through Byway. They planned a very comfortable itinerary, including all train and seat reservations. The hotels were great and close to the stations. The support from the Byway team was excellent before and during the trip. Would definitely recommend it especially if you are travelling with family and want a hassle-free holiday.

Our 20th Anniversary trip to Switzerland (from North Carolina) could not have been more fun! We customized our 17-day Byway journey intentionally for a relaxing holiday mixed with some adventures and a visit with a Swiss friend, no particular agenda, just a “play as you go” attitude.
