LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"The bagels arms race continues with another shop opening in Highland Park. C&H does breakfast sandwiches and sourdough bagels with toppings like lox and blueberry sauce, plus a roster of other brunchy dishes, like waffles, omelets, and breakfast burritos. It looks like a quiet space, and they have wifi, so you can probably camp out with your laptop while sipping an olla latte with housemade cinnamon-orange syrup." - cathy park

The food is consistently fantastic. I LOVE their soft-scrambled eggs. Theirs is more of a crunchy, Montreal-style bagel and I’m a fan. Quality produce and ingredients. The service is always welcoming and kind. The dining space is surrounded by tall windows, so sunlight pours in from all directions, lending to a pleasant atmosphere. There is a nice patio for outdoor dining as well. This is an exemplary neighborhood spot that I happily return to as often as I can.

Not only are their Bagels delicious, their lattes are just as fantastic. The vanilla cardamom latte takes me back to the highlands of Guatemala where the cardamon is abundant. The Orange and cinnamon latte is like a warm hug. It is especially enjoyable the closer we get to the holiday season. Well done! Wishing y’all success

Came on a Sunday afternoon, and wasn’t that busy but plenty of people came within the hour that I visited- to go orders and people dining in. I ordered the salmon bagel speciality. It was loaded! The service was very attentive and kind. Everything tasted fresh! They even sell these beautiful heirloom tomatoes from their supplier at the counter, which they also use in their dishes. Plenty of seating & lots of natural light. I will definitely be back!

Yes; the everything bagel here is an everything bagel with an everything flavor. 👏 The food is fresh and perfectly seasoned. I had the prosciutto bagel and olla latte which came with some country potatoes that are possibly the best potatoes I've had in a while. The burrata also had a beautiful texture. Boom 5 stars.

I'm obsessed with this bagel place! The bagels are PERFECTLY chewy and seasoned so even a plain bagel with plain cream cheese is heavenly. The other items are good too, and they usually have fresh squeezed orange juice that is incredible. Basically you're covered on all fronts. The staff couldn't be nicer and the outdoor porch area and their inside seating is really pleasant. Maybe a controversial take but perhaps a better bagel than Belles 😬

I am so blown away by how good "the usual" bagel is. I'm mad at myself for not coming here sooner. the ingredients are so fresh so perfectly sliced and seasoned with every layer. it has everything I ever want in a lox cream cheese bagel plus more. it has everything it has fresh dill, so many little bites of briny capers, thinly-sliced red onions, thinly-sliced cucumbers, thinly-sliced really fresh farmers market quality tomatoes and the perfect little schmear of cream cheese. I could even taste a drizzle of olive oil. I am in love

This new neighborhood breakfast and bagel place is a welcome sight. It's got some solid coffee and breakfast options for the locals who don't want to walk all the way down to the main strip. Some thoughtful offerings will pique your taste buds in ways you may not get at home. The breakfast specialties are quite tasty and worth the price, however me and my gf sometimes just want a more basic and affordable breakfast to get us through the week rather than only a fancy treat on the weekend. Some affordable breakfast classic plates in the way of even IHOP would be good news for us. We need a good neighborhood breakfast joint and hangout, not another gentrifier-minded money dump. But again, as it stands, it's great food and good service. It's privately owned and operated by a very nice family of the Earth. Please do check them out and give them some support. I'm sure their now-bare walls will soon fill up with flavor from this vibrant neighborhood.

I LOVE THEIR SALMON BAGEL SOOO MUCH! They also serve up such an amazing cafe de olla latte. I love to see a Latino owned business thriving in the midst of gentrification in HLP. Please keep supporting them!!

Yelp
Wow! I was blown away. I was driving by and noticed a new spot where a charming little restaurant used to be. I came back a few days later to check it out. Turns out the day of my visit was their soft opening, and I was the first customer. Bagels are their specialty, but breakfast burritos & omelets are also available. I received a warm welcome from Paula & Andreas. They were both so sweet & friendly. I ordered a plain bagel, a Basque cheesecake, and a latte. Paula informed me that their syrups are made in house and the coffee was a blend of beans from Oaxaca, Mexico & Ethiopia. (Oat & Almond milk available). Since it was their first day, they were also giving out chocolate chip cookies to customers. Everything was fresh and warm out of the oven. The bagel was THE BEST! It was so good! Just the right amount of crunch on the exterior, soft & fluffy inside, and slightly chewy. The flavor was so good, it didn't need butter or cream cheese. After I ate it, I was craving another. I've never had Basque cheesecake before, and this was amazing! Cutting into it was like cutting into warm butter. It was silky smooth and creamy on the tongue. I wish I had ordered two! The latte was also another winner. I could taste the bold richness of the perfectly roasted beans, which was balanced by the velvety foam topping. I could also taste hints of orange & cinnamon. Last but not least - the cookie. I love chocolate chip cookies and this one was the size of Texas and loaded with lots of chocolate chips. The chips were slightly melty because it was still warm. It was heavenly! The café is cozy with indoor and outdoor seating. The decorative plants are a nice touch. I was impressed with everything from the excellent customer service, to the delicious food, and perfect latte. I wish them lots of success. I'm telling you - these are the best bagels outside of New York! *Street parking

Yelp
Husband and I noticed this bagel place and decided to try it out. Let me say it's very welcoming. Love how open and bright it is. The brickwork I assume is from the original building looks amazing. Staff is very on point with keeping customer happy and checking on customer. 10/10 customer service. Bagels are fresh and delicious 10/10. Coffee was good as well. I'll definitely be making more stops here. I have recommended to all my friends. Oh we were also given a chocolate chip cookie on the house it was warm, soft and delicious. It took me back to my childhood. A little pricey, but worth it.

Yelp
The vegetarian bagel sandwich may be the best bagel sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. Honestly flabbergasted with how great it is. They have table service if you wanted to go and enjoy a meal and it's a beautiful corner space right at Avenue 50. Small mom and pop owned place and happy for it to be nearby.
