LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"The bagels arms race continues with another shop opening in Highland Park. C&H does breakfast sandwiches and sourdough bagels with toppings like lox and blueberry sauce, plus a roster of other brunchy dishes, like waffles, omelets, and breakfast burritos. It looks like a quiet space, and they have wifi, so you can probably camp out with your laptop while sipping an olla latte with housemade cinnamon-orange syrup." - cathy park

This place is amazing. With a lot of bagel options in HLP, this one surprisingly takes the cake for me. If you like crunchy but chewy bagels, you’ll love C and H. I’ve tried the regular cream cheese, the breakfast, and the veggie, all on the everything bagel. The staff are also super friendly. 5 stars

Stopped by before work. Got the breakfast bagel and was [pleasantly] surprised it came with potatoes! The bagel itself was a tad smaller than I’m used to, but delicious. Tasted like a sourdough bagel? The bacon was equally deliciously thick and crispy. The service was swift and prices (17$) normal for the area. I’m only giving it a 4 because the size of the bagel was small compared to belles.

Have been waiting to try this place out since I saw they were going to open a bagel spot! The latte was delicious, both the plain bagel and the everything pastrami bagel sandwich were so good the bagels were toasted perfectly. There could have been a little more cream cheese on the bagel, but that’s my only qualm. Inside and outside were both so cute with all the natural light and plants and high ceilings. There’s a little outside patio with a decent amount of seating which will be good as it starts to warm up. Excited to come here again!

This new neighborhood breakfast and bagel place is a welcome sight. It's got some solid coffee and breakfast options for the locals who don't want to walk all the way down to the main strip. Some thoughtful offerings will pique your taste buds in ways you may not get at home. The breakfast specialties are quite tasty and worth the price, however me and my gf sometimes just want a more basic and affordable breakfast to get us through the week rather than only a fancy treat on the weekend. Some affordable breakfast classic plates in the way of even IHOP would be good news for us. We need a good neighborhood breakfast joint and hangout, not another gentrifier-minded money dump. But again, as it stands, it's great food and good service. It's privately owned and operated by a very nice family of the Earth. Please do check them out and give them some support. I'm sure their now-bare walls will soon fill up with flavor from this vibrant neighborhood.

My new favorite breakfast burrito! This brand-new brunch spot in Highland Park owned and operated by a local family originally from Guatemala also makes their own sourdough bagels and sources their coffee beans from a roaster in Boyle Heights called Picaresca. For the breakfast burritos, they use fresh avocado chunks, thick and crispy bacon, perfectly cooked eggs and potatoes, topped off with a nice blanket of melted cheese, and an amazing green salsa. The Olla Latte with house-made cinnamon and orange zest syrup was also delicious. Next time we’re gonna try the build-your-own breakfast bagel sandwiches and fresh-squeezed OJ!

Awesome breakfast spot! Bagels are fresh and chewy. Fresh squeezed OJ. This Olla Latte is delicious & saving my morning. Give them a try!

I love trying new breakfast spots but I regret going here. To begin, the coffee was excessively strong, needing two cups of water to dilute it. The food presentation was appealing in the photographs, but upon tasting, it became evident that the eggs were made from powder and likely microwaved. The waffles were also undercooked. Consequently, I opted to consume the bagel with cream cheese and proceeded across the street to purchase a coffee from McDonald’s.

The matcha and bagel I had were delicious! And the team was lovely. Amazing customer service! So happy to have a new bagel spot in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Wow! I was blown away. I was driving by and noticed a new spot where a charming little restaurant used to be. I came back a few days later to check it out. Turns out the day of my visit was their soft opening, and I was the first customer. Bagels are their specialty, but breakfast burritos & omelets are also available. I received a warm welcome from Paula & Andreas. They were both so sweet & friendly. I ordered a plain bagel, a Basque cheesecake, and a latte. Paula informed me that their syrups are made in house and the coffee was a blend of beans from Oaxaca, Mexico & Ethiopia. (Oat & Almond milk available). Since it was their first day, they were also giving out chocolate chip cookies to customers. Everything was fresh and warm out of the oven. The bagel was THE BEST! It was so good! Just the right amount of crunch on the exterior, soft & fluffy inside, and slightly chewy. The flavor was so good, it didn't need butter or cream cheese. After I ate it, I was craving another. I've never had Basque cheesecake before, and this was amazing! Cutting into it was like cutting into warm butter. It was silky smooth and creamy on the tongue. I wish I had ordered two! The latte was also another winner. I could taste the bold richness of the perfectly roasted beans, which was balanced by the velvety foam topping. I could also taste hints of orange & cinnamon. Last but not least - the cookie. I love chocolate chip cookies and this one was the size of Texas and loaded with lots of chocolate chips. The chips were slightly melty because it was still warm. It was heavenly! The café is cozy with indoor and outdoor seating. The decorative plants are a nice touch. I was impressed with everything from the excellent customer service, to the delicious food, and perfect latte. I wish them lots of success. I'm telling you - these are the best bagels outside of New York! *Street parking

Yelp
Husband and I noticed this bagel place and decided to try it out. Let me say it's very welcoming. Love how open and bright it is. The brickwork I assume is from the original building looks amazing. Staff is very on point with keeping customer happy and checking on customer. 10/10 customer service. Bagels are fresh and delicious 10/10. Coffee was good as well. I'll definitely be making more stops here. I have recommended to all my friends. Oh we were also given a chocolate chip cookie on the house it was warm, soft and delicious. It took me back to my childhood. A little pricey, but worth it.

Yelp
The vegetarian bagel sandwich may be the best bagel sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. Honestly flabbergasted with how great it is. They have table service if you wanted to go and enjoy a meal and it's a beautiful corner space right at Avenue 50. Small mom and pop owned place and happy for it to be nearby.
