The 19 Best Coffee Shops In Seattle

"C&P is a giant house, too—but it feels more like a community center we never want to leave. At this West Seattle spot, there’s antique furniture, bookshelves, a living room with sofas and armchairs where regulars flip through newspapers, and a backyard garden that you might mistake for a Bainbridge Island summer home if not for the “poetry tree.” The espresso is all from Lighthouse Roasters and the pastries are all from Macrina, which is as classic of a duo as Hall & Oates or Tim Robinson and self-deprecating humor." - aimee rizzo, gabe guarente

Google
Good coffee, beautiful and charming space to enjoy by yourself. I went early in the day and it was quiet despite there being a few people. They have a great garden space out the back and a cute service window for dog owners to order their coffee through. My coffee had a unique flavor and had that bold coffee flavor I’ve been craving. They have some good morning pastries to choose from as well. I look forward to coming here more.

Google
The cutest and most friendly coffee shop around!!!!!! The staff was so amazing and helpful . Their coffee and pastries 🍰 were super delicious. Definitely will come back as long as we are in town. This place is a must stop!

Google
C & P Coffee is my number 1 go to in Seattle, hands down! I drive weekly from Magnolia, Seattle to savor excellent coffee and enjoy the welcoming environment created by owners Cam, Pete and team. Come to C & P, and you’ll see people studying, good friends, mingling, perhaps community groups gathering and music offered at various times on their events calendar. There’s a nice seating environment outside that is dog friendly. And of course, excellent pastries to be enjoyed. It’s hard to describe the “heart” of the owners and what C& P means to the West Seattle community. You can tell it is a labor of love. All of us who go there feel that and greatly benefit! It’s just a wonderful place to be. And again, don’t forget the coffee………it’s excellent! C & P receives my highest rating……..A+++!

Google
What a fantastic cafe! Had heard of this place as one of the venues for the Silent Book Club and was eager to check it out. It’s a readers’ paradise! There’s ample seating options - couches, reading chairs, desks, 3 different patios for outdoor seating. The drinks are great - we got the mocha and a matcha latte, and enjoyed some of their baked items too - the spinach cheese bun and croissant. Service was great too!

I dropped in here one morning while visiting the area to plug in and work for a few hours. First of all, I felt like I walked into grandma's house (and I mean that in all the best ways)! It's super cozy, spacious, has really fast WiFi, and an easy-to-soak-up ambiance, and the lady running the counter treated me very warmly. My plain latte was excellent and had great quality espresso, so based on that, every espresso drink might be excellent. I stared at the pastry case for like 5 minutes because everything looked amazing. I'm no biscuit connoisseur, but that rosemary and ham biscuit I settled on was probably one of the best I've ever had -- perfectly fluffy, rich, and flavorful. Put this place in the coffee shop HOF! I'll definitely stop by next time I'm in town.

Google
This is the coziest coffee shop I’ve been to in Seattle. It has seating outside in the front and in the backyard as well. They hold love music performance inside also. You can also book the place for private gatherings and parties. There are different sections inside with different decor. The drawing room, the dining room, the little area around the mantle piece are all decorated with contrasting furniture and really stand out. They stock stuff from Theo chocolates and also have ready to go sandwiches. We got a cold brew with vanilla syrup and a theo dark mocha. Both the drinks were fantastic. The mocha was really showcasing the dark chocolate well. The cold brew was strong and fresh. One can spend hours here without any fuss.

Google
I think i found my favorite coffee shop in seattle. Got a feeling i was gonna love it the moment I stepped into this shop. While the coffee was great, the atmosphere is something I fell in love with. Well maintained outdoor seating that you’re gonna love on a pleasant sunny day!

Google
The best coffee in town, the coffee house is welcoming and perfect to either grab your coffee to go or settle in to enjoy the atmosphere. Art changes monthly. They've got a good selection of wine and beer. Perfect for private events, I've been to a wedding and retirement party there. Both events catered by food truck.

Yelp
The Carmel latte are hot, quick and no fuss no messy nothing and she was done making it before I even left the register. Service was very quick, the house has a fresh scent and a nice but quiet vibe for early afternoon, I left before the band started. Will be back

Yelp
A little gem in West Seattle. C & P coffee is located on the main road of California with mostly street parking. It's a house converted into a coffee shop for the homie cozy vibes. You could also order a to go drink via the back side of the house. There was lots of space to work and free wifi. The staff was friendly and quick to make drinks. My chai latte was a classic standard drinks. Definitely would come back to do some work or have a coffee date to catch up with a friend.

Yelp
Apparently, ownership is ok with the kids they hire being just mean and rude to people who are hard of hearing / the disabled. Not a good look for a local coffee shop/ "community " joint.
google avatar

Leung T.

Yelp
This is the "nice" coffee place in the neighborhood. People were very nice and the space is comfortable, like someone's home, well because it was & the coffee & pastries were are good. Prices are kinda high, why 4 instead of 5 stars. It was $13.91 ($1 tip) for a coffee & a pastry

Yelp
Such a cute spot in West Seattle! Rain or shine, you can sit inside and cozy up with a book (or stress about work, up to you), or you can sit out on the front or back patio and just do you with a cup of good coffee and bask in the sun. I usually order an oat latte and it never fails. The cold brew is spot on too. Everyone who works here is so friendly and makes you feel welcomed. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
This place is such a gem in West Seattle, and full of community vibes and live music some weekends. The design of the place hits home the community spirit, in the warmth of the staff and the layout, which makes you feel like you are in a house (which probably was converted) and has many nooks to work or relax. The garden in the backyard is beautiful and can be worked out of as well. From the worn hard-wood floors to the comfy seating, it's a great place to read a book or get some work done. I love the spicy mocha too! The other coffee drinks are wonderful as well.

Yelp
Coffee was delicious, atmosphere was great, baristas were kind and accommodating, and the back patio was beautiful got a vanilla/black cherry latte which was out of this world! Thanks C&P!
google avatar

Yelp
Crowded! But friendly staff, fast, and great ambient. It's a bit loud if you're planning to study, but would recommend to meet up with people

Yelp
This spot was really fun! Lots of outside eclectic spots to sit and hang out. Dog friendly, with a window in back for ordering outside. The inside is cute too. The barista was very kind and offered us dog treats for our pups. The lattes were good and they have a large selection of syrups to choose from.

Yelp
This is such a cute little coffee place. I loved the variety of pastries available, I got a blackberry muffin and it was absolutely delicious. Also the people were so kind and prompt. And I absolutely love the different seating availabilities, outside in the back and front; as well as a side patio, and indoor seating as well. Now for the coffee review: simple and perfect. My drink is a doppio with a bit of steamed milk, so really hard to mess up, but the espresso they use was so smooth!! And a little honey in there, perfect.
google avatar

Briar L.

Yelp
Had a macchiato. It was okay, a bit too strong for me. The cafe is cozy. Staff were polite. Would visit again.

Yelp
What a vibe! This place is so cute and has great coffee and pastries. That's all you really need to know - come here and sit and stay awhile! Nice outdoor seating too
google avatar

Yelp
Truly one of the coziest coffee shops in the greater Seattle area, will absolutely be coming back to work and just hang out. Tip: if you enter through the front, be sure to check around the back! Hidden huge garden area seating, a handicap parking spot, + 2 15 minute parking spots. A variety of indoor seating options (couches, tables, nooks) and outdoor (covered tables, garden seating, outdoor is dog friendly). There's a window for dog owners to order from, everyone else can order inside. All the basic coffee, tea, wine, beer, and snack options you could need + free Wi-Fi!

Yelp
Adorable coffee house that is deceptively spacious. It literally feels like a house, it has different rooms, so feels a bit cozy. The counter is charming, feels a bit nostalgic, and they offer coffee drinks, of course, but other beverages too, including beer and wine. The staff is friendly and there is a decent stage area for open mics. My friends had this space rented out for a birthday party but I would definitely come back for an open mic, or just relax and work.
google avatar

Shay K.

Yelp
Love it here. Coffee is so good. Baristas are friendly and super nice. Good Hospitality. I had a delicious slide of morning glory bread with my coffee. I sat in a cozy quiet corner for an hour zoom meeting! It's a nice spot to chill.

Yelp
My son lives very close to this cafe so I go there quite often with my Grandkids. They love the hot chocolate with a sprinkle of peppermint - reminds them of Christmas. One of the times I visited it was snowing hard. The lady who worked there offered my her umbrella. Who does that - awesome!! They have great drinks and pastries. They have a lot of comfortable seating inside and outside to enjoy. Love this place

Yelp
Service was not too friendly. Pastries were hit or miss, meaning one was delicious and another was bland. This experience is typical of businesses that often serve alcohol . Their clientele appears to be digital nomads and pensioners. They are dog friendly, if that is important to you. Coffee was average.
google avatar

Janah W.

Yelp
Meh, overated the only cool thing is that the community saved the house from demolishing. Snobby barista adds to the charm tho. Went for chai, they use Morning Glory out of WA. State I personally think Black Scotty is hands down way better! Oh and they don't "pump" they free pour so don't ask [insert snob attitude by barista here] the Chai was so bland had no kick at all.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
What I love about this place is that it seems to be a neighborhood stop and people don't go out of their way to come here. I certainly do. The seats are arranged to be more for socializing and collaborating, though there are amble benches for you to work independently both indoors and outdoors. It does get insanely crowded, and the only time it seems to die down are between 11am-1pm. They occasionally have day-time events. Coffee - average.
google avatar

Yelp
Matcha latte with oat milk was good. Blueberry scone was amazing and not too sweet, with a perfectly crispy exterior and oh-so-soft fluffy interior! Rosemary ham biscuit was pretty good; I could definitely taste the rosemary but was also hoping to see more ham pieces (there were very few tiny pieces that I could see), so it seems the ham flavor is mainly infused into the biscuit. It wasn't as fresh (or didn't hold up as well) as the scone, so the exterior texture wasn't as crispy as I hoped, but the interior was still great--soft and fluffy and tasty. Very cool home-like decor. Fun place to work remotely!
google avatar

Alisha M.

Yelp
Lovely customer service. They are so welcoming. A cosy home setting. Live music. Great banana bread and chai :)
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Love this coffee spot! Great coffee and super friendly staff. They seem to know everyone. The ample amount of seating despite it not being a terribly big place is great!! Indoor, outdoor, doesn't matter it feels so cozy and a perfect spot to chill. And huge bonus - there's beer, wine & ciders!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop! Everyone was incredibly nice and the coffee was delicious. Great atmosphere, with ambient music in the background. Definitely worth a stop!

Yelp
SPECIAL Ma & Pa. I love this place! West Seattle's lucky to have this place. The Starbuck invasion & then COVID, too.
google avatar

Mabel S.

Yelp
Love the local community feel of C&P. You can expect to be greeted with a warm smile and genuinely asked how you are doing. During COVID, there's a path that leads you around to the back of the cafe where you can order coffee through a window. There are picnic tables and patio furniture with umbrellas spread out on the property so you can enjoy your coffee and treats appropriately socially distanced. I ordered an iced spicy mocha special latte. I was warned about the mix likely not dissolving/blending as well into the drink as the hot version; again, so thoughtful & caring. Heads up, there is construction happening on both sides of the property. Might be a concern if you are working remote or having a phone conversation. Regardless, my partner and I were able to stay here for an hour or two, using Wi-Fi and enjoying the beautiful weather.
google avatar

Drew D.

Yelp
Very cute place with delicious drinks! Efficient service and friendly people, plus it has the coziest vibe that is super inviting and warm

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I love the ambience and the vibes here! Always nice to sit outside and I enjoy when they have live music inside! The workers are always extremely kind and welcoming!

Yelp
This is the quintessential coffeehouse. Great coffee, great ambiance, perfect place to do homework while eating scones and drinking tea.

Yelp
There are several cafés/coffee shops within walking distance of my house but technically C&P is the closest so occasionally I will pop in for a beverage, but to be honest it's not my favorite place. In fact, it's my least favorite and one of the nearby places is a Starbucks. Is that saying a lot? I love that they have a lot of space to read/work/hang out and they host a lot of cool events like live music and the silent book club nights, but the staff just isn't friendly. At all. The disdain shown to non coffee snobs is palpable. They barely even offer a smile when I come up to order and offer no friendly pleasantries. Their menu is averagely diverse; offering options for people who can't do caffeine or need an alternative to dairy milk, (Like me) which I appreciate. They also have some gluten free and vegan pastry options in their pastry case. Their patios in the front and back are lovely in nice weather, as well. Maybe they are friendlier to die hard regulars but because they aren't nice I don't want to be a regular. Kind of a conundrum.
google avatar

Candace R.

Yelp
I was visiting friends nearby and on a day to myself, was looking for a place to grab coffee within walking distance and found C & P. I loved the different areas for seating and the staff was patient with a newbie like me checking out the menu and pastries and figuring out what to purchase. I sat and enjoyed a drink and pastry on the patio and would have loved to come back in the evening to enjoy a drink and some music. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I've been happily coming to C&P since I lived in West Seattle at the turn of the century and will return as long as they're in operation. Though much has changed in the area since then, this cozy house continues to be a welcoming place for a great cup of coffee. I recommend their spicy mocha in particular which is minimally sweetened so you can really appreciate the coffee itself, but you really can't go wrong with any of their espresso beverages. They also serve beer and wine among other NA options. I love the new-ish addition of the covered side patio with heat lamps so you can hang out with your 4-legged friends in inclement weather. Mostly street parking, but there are a couple of parking spots in back if you're lucky enough to snag one. Also a walk-up window off the back patio if you're just grabbing something quick to go.

Yelp
I have a feeling that this place could be my new favorite dose of Latte and maybe one of Seattle's best hang-out spots. I like the indoor/outdoor seating areas. I tried the latte, and what a latte; well-balanced and delicious. There is so much love put into that cup. I would recommend that they custom-made their cups to make them unique as their taste.
google avatar

Anh N.

Yelp
Ok, this place changed a lot and I love what they have done to it. The service has always been good and staff are super friendly. Unfortunately the coffee is weak and so is the chai. I've tried multiple times since I get my haircut next door.
google avatar

Yelp
Good coffee! Quiet place with many food and drink offerings. Good place to work or to talk with a friend, good location and quality food & drink.
google avatar

Austin P.

Yelp
This is an old house and it definitely has a funky vibe (in a good way). There are many little seating areas, which make it feel more intimate than other coffee shops. Plus, there's a front patio and a back patio! I got a matcha latte, which was really tasty. Definitely want to come back for coffee!
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
Cozy comfortable setting &good coffee make for a perfect neighborhood meeting spot. Congenial baristas add to your visit. Local musicians play on weekends.
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
This is it! The coffee place I've been looking for in west Seattle. Lots of seating indoor or outdoor, even a big backyard. You can get a lot of sun and get coffee while you're working or studying. They also have pastries and gluten free options as well! Will return to work and not be bored at home

Le C.

Yelp
Nice place but the barista acted like she didn't want to be there. Don't expect a "hello" or anything.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely cozy coffee house in west seattle.. they have cute outdoor seating and a small window where they take orders during covid.. they have a good selection of coffee and the person on the counter was nice warm and friendly just like their delicious coffee.. i have also tried their hot chocolate and its nice for a wintery evening.. They have been in business for about 17yrs now and I can see why! Will definately keep coming back..

Yelp
Great coffee, great ambiance (three options for indoor and outdoor seating), friendly baristas.

Yelp
Awesome coffee and adorable shop! Employees were so nice and friendly. Got an iced caramel latte and it was perfect. Not too sweet like how a lot of lattes are. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their drinks!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Cozy vibes like a house, great coffee
google avatar

Kaily S.

Yelp
I'm so excited to live within walking distance of a coffee shop-- and one that I can visit day and night! Excellent cold brew. And since my visit was on day two of moving to West Seattle, I was in need of a shirt and of course, got one to represent!
google avatar

Gloria C.

Yelp
Live music + coffee +hygge = C & P coffee!! It is the perfect coffee shop to study! It is pretty big (indoors + outdoor area) and doesn't feel crowded. Good coffee and stable wifi! Remember to check their live music schedule!!

Tracie B.

Yelp
Love it here!! The vibes, the coffee, the people! Lovely live music! 10/10 would recommend stoping by if in West Seattle
google avatar

Sonja F.

Yelp
Forget Starbucks when you're in West Seattle! Go to C&P! Support a mom-n-pop local business and enjoy a comfy atmosphere with excellently smooth coffee.
google avatar

Seth S.

Yelp
this is a really good place, it is a rustic coffee shop, located in a turn of the century rustic hunting lodge, and they serve good coffee, and have live music. Not only does it not get better than this, these kind of places are quickly disappearing, especially with the fall out from COVID and small businesses who are not able to stay in business. Let' be honest, really honest, unless you want a landscape of Starbucks, not that Starbucks is terrible, and you want what originally was what coffee houses were all about, go here, give them your business, tip well, say nice things, leave a good review. Not joking - not mean to be funny - we are fighting for the soul of our city Go here, spend here, support here

Yelp
"Bitter baristas" Usually this place is great! Great, quirky, atmosphere. Nice owners and managent and quality drinks. Today (March 15th at 1100) I brought 3 out of town friends here to visit. Ordered 4 beverages. 2 caramel lattes, one London Fog, and a dirty chai. One of my friends tried her beverages and it was a little bitter (even for me as a black coffee drinker). The barista kindly sweetened it up. After getting everything situated, I stepped outside for one moment...and walked back in to grab a napkin. When I walked back in I hear the barista saying "if you want a sweet drink go to Starbucks". You guys have syrups and tons of flavors to choose from, right? Then what the hell is the big deal?? I think your baristas are in the wrong line of work. What a quality experience turned absolutely sour. They were taking about this "bitter barista blog and how the stories are soooo true" well...congrats... you are some bitter baristas....I'll take my business to a better local coffee shop that doesn't trash talk their customers right in front of them. I'm embarrassed for you and I'm embarrassed that I talked so highly of this place.

Yelp
Love the fact you can get Lighthouse Roasters coffee here, what a big plus that pushes an easy 4 star instead of 3 star for me. It's a very relaxing place to just read the paper, drink coffee and chat with the locals. There's a laid back atmosphere at C&P where there's plenty of character in the large wood tables that all seem to be antiques. They have some pastries here and you can get a chocolate croissant or a cinnamon roll or an other assortment of pastries.
