Where to Eat and Drink in Portland’s Creston-Kenilworth Neighborhood | Eater Portland

"A deep tap list and one of the city’s best pinball machine collections may be the highlights, but this laidback neighborhood watering hole avoids being defined by either. Both the main bar area and back patio are spacious and often peppered with affable regulars, each section separated from the pinball room so those less thrilled at the sound of bumpers flapping can imbibe obliviously. The popular breakfast is available daily until 4 p.m., including generously portioned fried chicken and vegetarian biscuits and gravy. The killer happy hour is highlighted by $6 burgers — including an impossible burger option — and a selection of $6 classic cocktails." - Nathan Williams

Portland’s Legit Late-Night Happy Hours | Eater Portland

"A laid back, industrial gastropub with a serious pinball collection in the basement, C Bar is a regular spot for Reedies and residents of the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood. After 10 p.m., $1 gets knocked off all sandwiches, including a serious burger, and all shared plates, like the fried Brussels sprouts and the Gladstone poutine. Cocktail specials range from $5 to $7, and draft beers, wines, and well drinks are all $1 off." - Alex Frane

Here are the reasons why I will come back and take friends here: the bartender was friendly and we had a great time talking about card games and the movies playing, the food was really good, and the atmosphere was homey. We ordered burgers and upgraded to fries from the bag of chips (thankful it was only a $1 for fries). The PB&J burger was great! They asked if medium was okay, and I asked for medium well instead. Next time I go back I’ll stick with medium; nothing they did wrong it’s just my preference and I appreciate that they asked. It was a thicker patty and ended up being just a tad too dry for me. Truthfully, I usually order smash burgers so I never really think about medium vs medium well anymore. The bacon on the burger was thicker cut and good quality. There was also bacon jam, pickles, and peanut butter on this bad boy and the combination resulted in pure bliss. Now, let’s get into the fries…The fries had a nice seasoning, texture, and temperature- they were light and crispy without being shoestring style or overly dense. The ranch dipping sauce tasted like it’s made in house and also had an excellent flavor and texture. I ordered lemonade and thought it was better than most places- it also seemed to be made in house, but I could be wrong. I would definitely order it again though. The atmosphere…90’s movies playing without sound, a collection of handmade paintings, and music similar to what I listen to at home (and at a reasonable volume 🙏🏽 ). So now that you can gauge my age, I guess that’s fine. Anyways, it wasn’t too busy and I have no idea what it’s like here during peak times- probably loud enough to make me wish I was at home. So glad this place is walkable. We moved into the neighborhood last summer and I am so glad I FINALLY tried C-Bar. I’d like to try the brunch menu sometime or come play pinball!

Came in for a couple drinks and to play pinball. Good drinks and nice set up with the pinball machines. They host tournaments here too.

Google
Great bar grub here! I often will get the chicken sandwich! They have a pinball hall here so bring your quarters! But I’d make sure to find out when the pinball league is gathering there so you can avoid it!

Google
I’ve been to this place before and always enjoyed the food, but something has definitely changed. This was one of the worst burgers I’ve had in a long time—completely unseasoned and incredibly dry. The fries were overcooked, and the Brussels sprouts were mostly just leaves, with only a few actual pieces. To top it off, everything lacked flavor. Really disappointing compared to how it used to be. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Everyone is always so sweet here and the food is always good. With social anxiety, I'm not usually relaxed in a bar setting, but I feel like I can calm down here and just enjoy myself. I really enjoy their cocktails and the movies playing in the background. I really enjoy their vegetarian breakfast burritos. And their mom tacos.

Google
C-Bar is still one of the better spots in Portland if you're looking for a chill atmosphere, good drinks, and plenty of seating. The staff here are friendly and on top of things, which makes for a welcoming experience. The beer and cocktail selection is solid, so whether you're into craft brews or a well-mixed drink, you won't be disappointed. The layout is great—lots of space at the bar, big tables for groups, and even a long communal table if you’re rolling deep. It’s got that comfortable neighborhood bar vibe that makes you want to hang out for a while. The only downside? The food, while still good, just isn’t what it used to be. Before the pandemic, they had an absolutely insane C-Bar burger that was one of the best in town. Now? It’s just okay. Like so many places in Portland, the quality has dipped a bit, which is disappointing. That said, if you’re looking for a laid-back bar with a great drink selection and a solid (if not spectacular) menu, C-Bar is still worth checking out. Just don’t expect the same greatness it once had.

Great local spot with good pub fare, amazing staff and a huge room full of pinball machines with a variety of old and new! Outdoor seating as well!

Google
Best Poutine we've found in Portland. 💯 The gravy actually melted the cheese curds! 😂👍It's not traditional, as the gravy is almost like a stew, with all the add-ins (spinache, bacon, carrots, mushrooms, etc)- but it was delicious AF. It has a little kick to it, so if you're not a fan of spicy, it's probably not for you. The place was clean, atmosphere was chill & had a good ambience & the staff was friendly, helpful & on their service. We'll definitely be back again & would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian, but when eating C Bar's mouthwatering Tomato Country Benedict, I guess I am and I'm glad about it. If hadn't read that the sausage used is Impossible Sausage and the gravy is vegetarian, I would never have known. The gravy has the right thickness, saltiness and good 'ol country flavor. When covering the supremely well-prepared poached eggs, Impossible Sausage, English Muffins and arugula, the gravy and all other parts of this morning meal extravaganza, will have your taste buds singing. Don't let me forget to mention their diced morning potatoes ether. Each little square, perfectly browned and incredibly tasty. My friend ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, with a cup tomato bisque soup. She said the soup was delightful. And, the sandwich was good. However, there was hardly any cheese on it. She's ordered it in the past and it had an adequate cheese amount, but this time there appeared to have been maybe one slice. Oh well, not the norm, and it still tasted good, especially dipped in the bisque. I also had Raspberry Orange Bubbly. Its raspberry puree mixed with fresh squeezed orange juice and bubbly water. The perfect complement to the savory meal. Our server was friendly and had a fun sense of humor. After we dined, we went to back room and played a few games of pinball, on a couple of their many pinball machines.

Yelp
Best bar for pinball, hands down. I love that they rotate out cabinets occasionally and hold pinball tournaments! The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable on the menu and always recommending the best drinks! Food is above average bar food! My partner and I are huge suckers for their huge bowl of fried Brussels, which might not be your average choice but it should be! We are also a big fan of the frito pie which features their vegetarian chili that is so yummy! We get it every time! A great stop for a neighborhood bar!

Yelp
We were looking for a fun place to wrap up our last evening in PDX, and pinball sounded like fun. So we headed over to C Bar and wow, it turned out to be a great choice! C Bar was a bit of a drive from the hotel, but worth it. We started in the restaurant/bar area with a juicy burger and some seriously hot and crispy fries, then headed to their pinball room for a couple hours of fun. Oh, and we enjoyed a couple of local Portland beers from their extensive tap list, too. The pinball room was super impressive. There were games both new and old, with all the requisite flashing lights o' fun to be had. And the game prices were MORE than fair. I'm used to having to drop several quarters into even an old game 'round these parts; most of their games were 50-75 cents a play! I'll definitely be back to C Bar. It was a fun date night and a great way to end our stay in town!

Yelp
I like this place! I met a friend for dinner here last night, ordered some food and a drink and had a great time! The interior was nice and the service was friendly and quick. We split a couple of appetizers, the fried Brussels and the mushrooms, and a Cesar salad. It was more food than we realized! And it was delicious. I rarely get a Cesar salad this good. The croutons were obviously homemade and fresh, there was a perfect amount of dressing. The Brussels sprouts were actually my favorite part, though! Crispy, flavorful, came with a garlic aioli. I paired this all with a blackberry pear cider that was better than I even hoped for. We didn't even get to the pinball room, but I'll have to try that next time. I wish I'd seen the sign for the Puptails before I ordered a drink. I love that they partner with the Oregon Dog Rescue!

Yelp
This place is insane. The staff, the atmosphere, the price... and... THE FOOD! All honesty, logged into an old account that had the rest of my reviews BUT it doesn't change how wonderful this place is... I brought all my family here for my BD luncheon because it's just super chill and good quality. So much of the food is great... and versatile... street tacos, steak dinner, fried chicken sandwich, blackberry habanero winds, BLT (not just a BLT dude), chilli rocks, mac n cheese (big plate, cooked well), burgers... the options are VAST! You will find this place like a home...

Yelp
I love this little gem the service is always great the drinks are divine and the food is incredible for the most part however I stopped going a few years ago due to unsavory Menu changes and inconsistency with the meals. At some point they stopped having specials.....the specials were creative and so good. I went back this week and was SO HAPPY to see the specials back! I quit drinking and how awesome is it that they have Rogue CBD drinks on tap?!? The CBar burger is still the greatest. I recently went back to being a vegetarian and their veggie burger now has a Beyond burger The grilled cheese with chèvre tomato soup such yummy comfort food. The staff is still great. I guess the bar is under new ownership and it shows. Can't wait to go back and pig out some more

Yelp
I'm not sure if the food is good or bad. Didn't eat it after getting utensils that looked like they did. If this passes as acceptable I'm not sure I need to return.

Yelp
We ended up at the C Bar when a food truck we were going to try was closed. My wife, son, and I all had burgers and fries with a beer - it was great. The burgers were cooked great, juicy and delicious. Fries were also cooked to perfection. Good selection of beer too. If you're in the area give it a try!

Yelp
Just a solid neighborhood haunt. Love the pinball room, and most of the machines are only $0.50 which is a bargain compared to other spots in town. Food is also solid, and the staff here is always nice and happy to let me sample the beers they have on tap. No complaints here.

Yelp
I've been going to C Bar for many years, but I must say, it's so great to see this place finally re-emerge as a TOP NOTCH bar! There's a variety of food offerings, which are decent portions at a reasonable price. Menu includes many yummy gf/v items (FANTASTIC GF Fried Chicken & Wings!). They finally have gf buns, too!! Burgers are made to order, crispy fries, fresh lettuce...Whoever's cooking really knows what they're doing! They have decent food and drink specials on Happy Hour daily! C Bar has continued to offer a great rotating tap list. The staff are super friendly and conscientious--My husband and I always feel welcome! And lastly, I really dig a bar that plays a variety of cool tunes --was mind blown to hear Link Wray, 60's ska and garage rock, Cynics, 70's-80's punk, and other faves recently!

Yelp
Well, we went back with friends even though my previous review I said we wouldn't. Similar experience this time. While the bar staff was friendly, it was surprising that when we ordered one of their signature cocktails the bartender had no idea what it was or how to make it. As I was watching it being made I mentally switched my order to a beer. As expected, the cocktail was not very good. The food was ok. This time I did not have the spicy chicken sandwich but just the regular and it was ok although it came covered in sooooo much shredded lettuce that you would have thought it to be a salad. We also ordered the Brussel sprouts, which werereally really salty, and the fries which lacked any seasoning. I had hoped it would be better this time around but it wasn't. Go for the beer and pinball, skip the cocktails and food.

Yelp
Great for pinball, the food is alright, it is cheaper than most spots, with that you lose quality, all in all, a good neighborhood spot. The drinks are pretty good and a solid tap list. Enjoy.

Melissa W.

Yelp
They hate it when you bring kids- don't even try. Not sure why we were treated with such disdain!with two kids who didn't get up from the table as their only customers- but won't be back.

Melissa F.

Yelp
First time coming here for food- second time ever...... Amazing food- excellent staff.... The service was excellent from the kitchen to the bar- went here today for my moms birthday. Pics added are- the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens- other is Brussel sprouts with poached eggs atop chicken fried steak- deliciousness. Bartender was awesome and created a drink I was in mood for- cook is outstanding.... Love this place, will definitely be a regular. Side note- bathroom is clean, total plus... thoughtful of them to leave a cute basket with a few free Tampax and pads sitting out. Just another cool plus abut this place. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I have been coming into the C Bar for around 4 years now. It started as a walk by, I will check out the food scenario. I went in and ordered a chef burger medium-rare and some wings with a Glenmorangie. To my surprise the burger was to perfect temp, a hard thing to find, and the wings were not dry as well. Needless to say I was impressed, and walking distance from my place, what a lucky find. So I started coming regularly about once a week for a burger and drink, as well as meet up with clients and friends. Over time all good things must come to an end. As of the last year to 6 months the food has gone way down as I can no longer get a burger medium-rare, fries are well done too. Tried some of the breakfast items hoping that the cook was a brunch cook, well that was not worth repeating. Home fries are not chopped potatoes then thrown in the fryer untill the color of teak wood, they should be cooked on a flat top or skillet to a golden brown. My eggs were not over-easy, as I ordered them, and were close to over-hard. So my last meal there was a goat cheese burger medium-rare with fries, the burger was medium-well and the fries were well cook with a piece of bacon in them from the guys next to me who had a side of burnt fried bacon, not sure if they ordered it that way of if the cook just cooked it that way to save time, for their brunch order. And the new crew seams to be more focused on the cellphone than the costumer, this is not just the tenders but the new owner as well. I may be from the old school service industry, which I have seen a lot of crap happen, but not on the floor in the front of the house.

Eli B.

Yelp
Friendly service from Melody, and the breakfast burrito was very good! Nice chill spot.

Harley L.

Yelp
Okay. The C Bar exceeded all of my expectations. What a nice and welcoming spot. Chill ambiance. Lot's of neighborhood folks in and out. Great staff. I had breakfast on a Sunday..perfect. Eggs, potatoes, sausage...toast. Perfectly cooked, plated, and served. It's my new spot and I'm 2.4 miles away but worth the walk. My neighborhood is known for it's various eating establishments but we don't have any place as comfortable as this. I'm recommending it to everyone...I'll go back and check out the dinner scene this week. I'm sure it'll be great. The menu is what I call perfectly Portland.

Janet S.

Yelp
I've been somewhat of a regular for a few years now. The food used to be really good, and I often brought visitors from out of town here, but that changed a while ago and now I only come for the drinks and atmosphere. The waitstaff is super friendly, and most of the bartenders are, but one who I won't name is someone I avoid. I just found out that one of the regulars was asked not to come back. I have never seen him act inappropriately, so I don't know what happened, but I do recall the owner Cynthia making a comment about him being Jewish. In this time, with the unrest in the middle east and here in the U.S., I have to wonder if that is why we won't be seeing him any more. I am definitely looking for another place to hang out, and I know some of the other regulars feel the same way. A neighborhood bar in Portland is no place for anti-semitism. Peace out.

Yelp
The worse service I have ever received. I asked for more forks and she said "I didn't give you enough???" She didn't actually give us any. We ordered drinks and she placed down a tray and said hey can you pass these out yourselves and then walked away. She came back later to pick up the tray. I am appalled. She had so much attitude and there was nobody else there. The poutine was honestly weird??? I don't get it??!?!!? I am APPALLED.

Yelp
Slaps every time. The spicy fried chicken sandwich is BOMB. Fantastic local place, our go-to when we want to take our little dude on a walk and get some food. Service is always genuine and friendly, good cheap beer on tap, pinball, the works. This is the kind of place at which one becomes a regular.

Adam C.

Yelp
Best place in town. The atmosphere, the quality of drinks, the food (cuisine is more like it), staff, and price... more than fantastic. I use this place to eat and do work... tried going to other places... nope. Never let down on. The chiefs are insane flavor chemists, can you say "blackberry habanero wings".

Terry J.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years, love this place However tonight was a total disappointment with the food, all of it was cold, seriously.. we had happy hour fries, Brussels sprouts and gf chicken tenders, The bartender was great, ( thank you) pinball amazing however we come here for GF food...and was disappointed

Yelp
I used to come to C Bar ten years ago when they had a great chef who made an amazing house veggie burger. It was an incredible bar with fresh, home cooked food!! We've come in a few times over the years and it was not what it used to be, but has been passable. Today we gave it another try, but in spite of what the menu says, there's nothing Vegan. The bartender was fabulous and went far and beyond to try to feed me. We're in Portland, the foodie capital, so only potatoes and onions hash is not enough. My husband ended up eating since he was so hungry. He got the chicken and biscuit, but they both were dry. The biscuit looked like toasted bread and the chicken was super oily and dried out. He also ordered the home fries with chimichurri, but instead got French fries. They were good fries, but not exactly what we wanted for brunch. The girl bartender came to check on our table to see if everything was okay. I did not even know where to start! We didn't drink anything, but the drinks looked great. I hate to post this since the staff is so great, it's a great place and they have a great beer selection. Perhaps we'll come back when the menu changes.

Yelp
Mediocre food with awful service! The gladstone poutine looked like stew, BLT had an egg in it which was odd, burger had no flavor, and the turkey club was decent but it's hard to mess up a turkey club. The server was extremely rude and absolutely did not want to be there? She was agitated when she came by 40 seconds after we sat down and we said we needed more time to look at the menu. Then when taking our order, she scoffed when I said I didn't want a side with my sandwich. When arriving with our drinks, she placed them on the counter and said "can you pass these out" and walked off without ever making eye contact! She was rude to us the entire time we were there, but oddly enough she was extremely nice to our dog. She also sat down with another customer during her shift and had a conversation with them for quite some time. Not sure how any of this behavior is okay for a server.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
$13 for a mediocre burger and fries aren't even included! Plus the waitress was so rude. She was very snippy while ordering. I figured she was just rushed but she dropped off our drinks on the server tray and just told us to disperse the drinks amongst ourselves. Then she went to sit with a customer at the table next to us and socialize while we had to go ask for ketchup, forks, and the check. If it weren't for quarantine I would have given her a $0 tip. Go to ship ahoy tavern across the street instead.

Gail R.

Yelp
Good and drinks were excellent. Best breakfast we've had in a while... including the Bloody Mary and tall mimosa with grapefruit. The staff was incredibly friendly, and this place was so clean! The floors were immaculate...

Yelp
Cute little dive bar! Since I can practically crawl here, and since our son turn 21, we have been going to C Bar more often. The bar is a fun combo of bad food, bad drinks, outside seating, bad music, and bad tv: how can it get any better?! Furnished with two TVs, several booths, a longer table and several sets of smaller tables, and a proverbial higher hanging table with stools, C-Bar has that down-home feel of diveness. So why the four stars, you ask? Well, good question. There are two: (1) is that the drinks are on the pricey side ($9 for a vodka margarita in a small glass) for the location, and (2) the fries were so soft, they flopped over in my hand. And no, I don't have proof bacause I forgot to take a picture. So this wonderful location, corner of SE Powell and 28th, with what could be a great concept, kind of just misses the mark. Of course I will end up returning here, because the one across the street looks like it's meant for 'old farts'. I wish they would up their game just a tad. It is not that hard to cook good fries and mix a bit bigger drink for those prices. Then loyalty would be assured!
google avatar

Elle P.

Yelp
Super expensive menu items horrible disgruntled bartenders who make you sit & think about existentialism for five min while they don't acknowledge your presence, meanwhile my depression is triggered by this too cool for school Victory wanna be on division. Beer, IPA, etc ranges from 2-9 in price and "dinner" is like $12-15 for the same menu year after year. Tip; Say hi. Provide a hello to someone walking in. You guys need to relax, your food is mediocre and only people on dates from tinder suffer through this poorly dark but loud joke of a real SE lounge. Staff: Smile it might help humanity feel better it even for a second
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner while in the hood, thats whay the kids are calling it these days, right? Anyways, I love how their menu clearly marks gluten free items as well as vegetarian and vegan. That right there is a huge plus. I saw they had gluten free fried chicken and couldnt resist giving it a go. It was a little on the greasy side but delicious none the less, plus it was boneless! Huge deal for me since im weird about bone in chicken. It was moist and filling. It also came with garlic mashed potatoes which were decent, and collared greens. Now ive not had collared greens before then, and im not sure I will again, not my bag. The biggest reason for only 4 and not 5 stars was the amount of time it took to get food. It was almost an hour, and i was getting hangry. Such is life, I got it eventually and it hit the spot.
google avatar

Mr J.

Yelp
Reading the other comments below I agreed with them all, good and bad. That said this isn't a 5 star fine dining restaurant, it's a bar! So it's on par with bar service and food. Nothing more, nothing less. The outside seating makes this a nice spot when the weather is nice. The staff is always friendly and cool. Other's in the neighborhood have told me the food quality or old cook isn't around anymore so it's no longer a secret spot for good food. But again it's a bar and has bar food so is good enough for what it is. I've yet to see it really busy like it used to be. Hope it's not trending down. We need to keep what we have here in SE as so many have closed for good
google avatar

Ariel G.

Yelp
I have been here a handful of times as I live in the area. It's cute with a lot of space, and holds a decent crowd regardless of time. Does not look like a regular "dive bar" as they have made an effort to give it an ambiance and I like it! I appreciate the art on the walls, as well as the pinball games in the back. A slight contrast to the very dive-y Ship Ahoy across the street. The service is friendly and great, but it is slow if you are at a table. My most recent experience, I came for lunch. The server was very nice, but it was pretty busy. I had a drink empty for 30 min and never was asked if I wanted a new one. Not a huge deal cause i wasn't sure, but what if i was trying to get after it? The servers are always really nice here and that does make a huge difference, and makes us a little more patient :) Also, prices are good. The food is not horrible, but not great. I had the buffalo cauliflower last time and it was just too much sauce and no crunch (flavor was good). My veggie burger was crispy and overcooked with no pickles. If I remember correctly, the Brussels sprouts were very good. In conclusion, come here to drink and hang but don't be expected to be blown away by the bites!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I are moving into the neighborhood and this bar is around the corner. We decided to check it out a couple days ago. It's cute little dive bar with a great happy hour and a good menu! We only ordered fries (the fries were SO good) - but the rest of the menu looked great and we'll definitely be back to try more stuff. The cocktails were average according to my boyfriend but I was really happy with mine. I ordered a $5 one off the happy hour and thought the taste fit the price perfectly! I'm happy we have something close to us with good deals. Will be back!

Abby G.

Yelp
I heard great things about C bar, so I was really exited to check it out. Lesson learned-- if you want to be entirely disrespected by a bartender that does not know what they are doing, this is the spot for that. I ordered a tequila sour and was completely made fun of by the bartender for calling it a tequila sour instead of ordering a margarita without salt... even though they are completely different things. She was extremely condescending and even said to me (after noticing that I was just 6 months past my 21st birthday on my ID) "Aw, you're so pure, tequila sour is not a real drink." What?? I came back up to the bar to get another drink and she was equally rude and confused as the time before. The drink she made me was mediocre and tainted by how rude she was.

Yelp
My favorite neighborhood spot. Amazing food, decent beer selection, and fair pricing. I ordered the Chef Burger - INCOMPARABLE. I'm a good ol' Nebraska gal, and this burger hits the spot. Juicy, rich + flavorful. My friend ordered the Up In Smoke - also terrific. The kimchi adds a special Asian twang. Service is usually pretty good.

Yelp
I really love this place. They always have amazing food and friendly staff. The atmosphere is very laid back, which makes it easy to spend a couple hours here. They also have a rotating selection of pinball machines in the back. I enjoy having a large selection of machines that change every so often because you get to play a lot of different machines.

Yelp
Bar used to be great... Don't go here anymore though since entitled brats like the 3 reviews from 4/17 are actually taken seriously... seriously, these idiots were the rudest customers i've ever seen... I was there that day
google avatar

Yelp
C bar what happened to you?!? This place used to be great but holy shit the quality of food has really dropped. I recently went for brunch and oof it was not edible. Oddly what we were served looks nothing like pictures from the other reviews. The biscuits were dense, greasy and dark brown. The fried chicken was beyond dry, like wildly over cooked dry, devoid of any degree of moisture. We could not eat it. We had a side of scrambled eggs as well. Seems easy enough right? but it was as if someone left the eggs in a pan and forgot about them. It was like a weird burnt omelet egg disc that they put on the plate. I'm not joking it was a single large circle of burned egg. I realize this might sound like an exaggeration but it was absurdly bad. Its not like I was expecting gourmet quality or anything. I get its a dive bar and totally love dive bar food but this was kind of like bad hospital food. I rarely post reviews but the fact that meal cost anything let alone $16 was fucking criminal. I can't believe I didn't take a picture! How the person who cooked it could let that leave the kitchen is wild. It was really disappointing because we used to go here all the time. What a disappoint from the awesome food they used to have. The only reason I can give 2 stars is they require vaccination and the wait staff were really nice.

Yelp
Great happy hour deals, excellent service, and pinball in the back! What more can you ask for? I had a couple of drinks (cider and wine options were nice) and some delicious brussel sprouts - and was even able to park in the nice huge row of bike racks out front. I'm looking forward to going back so I can try some of the other happy hour food options - they all looked awesome. Biking home was another matter... all uphill. I'll have to rethink that the next time. :)

Yelp
There's nothing like an hour of pinball to soothe a child of the 80's soul. I came to C Bar solely for their pinball backroom. They have about 15 games, and on a late Saturday afternoon, the space was moderately populated. They have an ATM on the bar side if you need cash, and a quarter machine on the game side, if you need change. Most games cost 50 cents a play, with some of the older machines at 25 cents. I am actually quite bad at most games, but I took my losses in a good natured way, and tried not to get too intimidated by the Portland pinball yogis that seemed to be wracking up millions of points around me. The Spider Man machine does this funky vibrating thing when you're scoring well, and there's also a storm-themed game that has actual fans that blow on you when you've gotten to a certain level. It's refreshing to do game activities like this that don't involve swiping screens or staring at a TV. Thanks for maintaining your pinball room, C Bar!

Yelp
We went to this lovely little bar and were blown away with the wonderful service from Betty (our bartender/waitress) as well as the fantastic chicken wings, brussel sprouts, house pretzel and fried chicken sandwich. Our drinks were all delicious, especially the ciders and the house cocktails, but Betty really stole the show with her kindness and witticisms.

Yelp
I come here far too often. I usually get beer. I've had breakfast and dinner and have been for HH too. Everything is tasty. I'm a fan of the veggie burger, steak, and buffalo cauliflower. They have special desserts, snacks and meals daily. Pinball is great -- they rotate the machines occasionally. C-bar has a no smoking back area which I like ( I don't smoke) and a smoking front seating area. It's usually not too busy but gets crowded around dinner and brunch time. Some staff are really lovely, some are meh. Will be back as it's my local bar.

Yelp
This place is really fun. The bartenders are always friendly, drinks are reasonably priced, and the pinball room is highly enjoyable. They had Billy Madison playing on the TV so that was also a plus. Nice neighborhood hangout.

Yelp
come for the pinball, stay for the food! I love that theres a solid lineup of pinball tables here and they're always having tournaments. the house burger is pretty solid and cocktails are damn tasty! A great little spot in SE.

Yelp
Hidden gem? Hit this place up brunch. Great food options! And great service! I tend to stick staple food items when trying a new place, such as chicken fried steak or eggs Benedict to gauge if I'll return to try something different. I was very tempted by a number of their mouth watering dishes such as their hash with kielbasa (which my friend got and was really good) or the breakfast poutine. Long story short, I'll be back. Had the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs. Highlight was the home fries. Tender taters with a perfect crisp to them. The chicken fried steak was also very tender and a nice flaky crust - buttermilk?? The herb sausage gravy was good, could used some hot sauce to liven it up a bit, But very creamy. Eggs fluffy and perfectly runny yolks. Mimosa in a pint glass = score. Great service = schwing! They also had a good beer tap list and if you're into pinball, check this place out! I'll be back for brunch again!

Yelp
This is my "local" bar. Their slow pork is amazing and probably the best pulled pork I've ever had. Grilled cheese is also amazing, food in general is really good. Always have a good beer selection and there are a few CBD drinks available. It's always busy but never too busy.

Yelp
We had the zucchini fries and I can't wait to try more food here in the future. I was extremely impressed with the expansive vegetarian options. As far as drinks go, they have a draft cocktail that is only $6 and their beer tap list is on point. Would definitely recommend and would for sure return.

Yelp
I really hate to lower it to 2 stars from a previous no-question 5 star establishment, but sometimes I can't even find one beer I like anymore. They try and cater to everyone by offering a little of everything, but the cider/wine/GF taps end up taking away too much of the beer selection. I just want to go in and get a good pale ale or red ale on tap, but there's about a 50% chance it's all IPA and sours or other niche brews. Their brunch is now just....sad. Eggs benedict was disgusting, just a giant glob of butter-mustard. I started going to ship ahoy across the street. They stick to the basics.

Yelp
Well crap. Sucks that good things never last. The Chef burger used to be one of the best burgers in town. Went there again after moving away from the neighborhood a year ago and was super disappointed to find they are using pre-made patties for their burger. Still great service, still great tap list but was sad to have to find a new favorite burger. Guess I'll try to recreate it at home.

Yelp
First time here at this neighborhood bar and I'm totally digging it! Indoors is pretty cool with ample displays of their menus for food and drink. They have countless beers on tap, but I tried the Lemon Squeasy Cider (trust me, it sounds weird but it's really good!). I paired that up with the zucchini fries which were crispy, crunchy and delicious. Service was great all around!

Yelp
I've been to C Bar ever since they opened as I live in the neighborhood and love them. Always had great experiences until I took my sister out for her birthday yesterday. I've been out to eat a total of 3x now since COVID and C Bar was my 4th. Every place I have been to expects the customers to sit themselves outside and order online from the table. As soon as we sat down a tall blond server came up to let us know we did not follow procedures- meaning to go inside and check in first. There were no directions on the table for any procedures and why would anyone assume to go inside during COVID. We hadn't time to actually consider any procedures as we had only been there 5 min at the most at that point. Long story short, she continued to be rude throughout our experience, intentionally forgot to bring my coffee , and then felt the need to school us at the end about how to do it correctly next time. Really fucking sucks CBar- you staff is unbelievably rude!
