14 Best Bakeries in San Jose and the South Bay Area | Eater SF

"Family-owned CA Bakehouse in San Jose is notorious for creative takes on Asian-inspired pastries. The shop was initially known as Le Monde, which opened in 1996 and became infamous among locals for popularizing the pandan green waffle. Customers rave about the honeycomb cake, a simple Vietnamese pastry with a chewy texture and a subtle pandan flavor. CA Bakehouse also offers classic staples, like Portuguese egg tarts with dough that’s laminated multiple times to garner an extra crispy outer shell. Of course, they still serve the pandan green waffle with the same recipe from decades ago." - Cathy Park

Love coming to Little Saigon for this spot. Once they open their doors, they have a line already. The quality is soooooooo good here. I’ve never had an egg tart as dense and rich as they make it here. They are huge! You can’t go wrong with anything here. I usually go with the egg tarts (all flavors) and the Vietnamese cookie. The prices are great here, so TREAT YO SELF.

Google
TLDR: gave us old pastries that weren’t fresh We got the pandan croissant and the croissant was a waste of calories, it was stale and barely any flakiness at all. The Same thing for the sesame cookie, flavor was not good and it was old. They don’t let you into the shop so you can’t even see the pastries and items at all. Would not recommend

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time now, but haven't gotten the chance til now since it's only open in the afternoon from Thursday to Sundays. There was a short line when we got here around 2pm on a Saturday, but the line moved super quickly with 2 employees taking orders and another 2 serving orders. This place is togo only, and they'll give you a nice box and plastic bag to hold your pastries so that they don't get crushed. I got the ube croissant and durian egg tart. They gave me a durian choux by accident but were nice to still give me the egg tart afterwards. The ube croissant was huge and flaky. The ube cream wasn't super sweet and not overwhelmingly thick. Meanwhile, the durian egg tart and choux definitely tasted strongly of durian, and I especially liked the durian cream inside of the choux.

I found out they were taking orders for Christmas and so I put in an order for some goodies! This is a Teochew bakery and I'm glad it is thriving! Great pastries! As you can see, it is very clean and organized! Thank you for opening for Christmas!

Google
Delicious and quick bakery items! The pandan waffle was made on the spot and came out steaming hot, it was crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside, perfectly delicious! My friend also got the pandan croissant and we also fetched some creamy, flavorful egg tarts. Everything for a great price! Highly recommend :)

Google
My favorite is mochi cake, very delicious! Pandan cake is just like the one I had in Singapore, very soft and delicious! The difficulty is that it is difficult to park on weekends. I recommended to order online, and it only takes 15 minutes to pick up.

Delicious baked goods and with traditional Asian flavours like ube, pandam, and tea. Service is fast and food runners are quick. When I went there, employees took your order at the front. You weren't able to enter the store and I wish they had like one of each of the pastries displayed at the front window or at the counter where you order so you could see them. The baked goods were 4/5 fillings were good, but bread bits were okay. The ube croissant was more of a bready croissant than a crispy one. The crust for the tart wasn't super flakey and the filling was firm. Flavors were fantastic and sweetness was balanced. Will be back to try their milk breads though.

Google
Stumbled upon this place awhile back and definitely miss the pastries! This bakery is small, but it offers a lot of delicious options from egg tarts to honeycomb cake (my favorite). There were two people working there when I visited and they were super friendly. Would definitely come back to try out their other goodies!

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this location while wandering around Vietnamtown. There was a fairly large line but we came back about half an hour before closing and the crowd died down. You can order online or in person. Online will have to be fairly far in advance but we were able to order within a few minutes. We picked up some banh bo (honeycomb cake) and gluten free which my friend never tried before. It was delicious and chewy just the way it should be. Slight pandan flavor and one slice wasn't enough. I plan to go back and try some of the other gluten free items.

Yelp
HOURS UPDATE: Starting 7/10/2025, they will be closed on Thursdays due to construction. - 4.8: kaya croissant. Perfect crust and interior goop. - 4.7: Kaya cram puff. Discard half the goop. The goop is very salty. But coating is great. ** 4.6: Banh Bo: Update: Once it was severely under-cooked, and almost dripping. I should have asked for a refund. But normally, it's a 4.6/5. - 4.6: egg tart. Not as good as Sheng Kee. - 4.5: Pandan chiffon cake. Very light. Lightly flavored. - 4.3: Pandan milk bread. It's like a parker house roll, with pandan filling inside. - 2.0: mochi cake. Dry.

Yelp
Overall, good desserts but i wish they all had stronger flavors. - Portugese egg tart: 5/5 no notes - Durian egg tart: 2/5 wish there was more durian flavor - Kaya croissant 4/5 Wish there was more kaya flavor in the croissant itself, but the custard inside was very good - Durian craquelin cream puff 2/5: the filling was a durian custard filling felt a bit too thick, too overcooked. WIsh there was a stronger durian flavor. Although the regular egg tart was the best item I got from CA bakehouse, there are better and cheaper places to get them at.

Yelp
Came a bit too late in the day and they didn't have much stock left! Tried the mochi cake and the kaya egg tart. Kaya egg tart didn't have much fragrance or flavor of kaya - crust was flaky and nice. Mochi cake was a bit dry, dense and buttery. Will need to come back to try the other goodies.

Yelp
This bakery is a hidden gem. It's similar to 85 degrees but cheaper prices. The Pandan milk bread is so good and they give you a whole loaf that looks like green Hawaiian bread. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts. The durian is even good and doesn't smell because it's baked in.

Yelp
Amazing pandan goods! Everything I could have ever dreamed of. Parking can be difficult on the weekend, you may have to circle a few times. There's a line to order but you can also preorder. Calm and quiet environment. There's no indoor seating so be prepared to eat your goods in the car or somewhere else. The worker was nice, friendly, and provided us with recommendations. We ordered the banh bo, pandan green waffle, pandan macademia cookie, kaya egg tart, and kaya croissant. The banh bo was unfortunately a bit too wet for my liking, I wish it was chewier. The cookie was okay, it was heavy on the macademia nut flavor. I recommend getting the waffle, egg tart, and croissant. I'm excited to come again to try their other stuff!

Yelp
Asian flavors galore! Think pandan, black sesame, ube.. fun for your eyes and taste buds. Have tried few of their croissants and choux pastries and all excellent. Don't sleep on the pandan coconut milk bread! Packed with flavor. Haven't tried the banh bo (honeycomb cake), chiffon cake, and basque cheesecake but they look bombbb. Given the soaring cost of butter and eggs and everything, I find this place has still remained really affordable in the age of $7 croissants. There's usually a bit of a wait but not bad. You can pre-order online. They take orders at the door, you can't really go in and peruse the selection which is a bummer. Parking can be wild there despite how big the lot is.

Yelp
Saw lots of TikToks about CA Bakehouse so had to see what all the hype is about! We came here on a Sunday around 2:30pm. Located in Little Saigon, this area was very crowded so it took us time to find parking. There is no seating so we took everything to go. We decided to get a variety of items: guava mochi cake, Kaya croissant, Ube + Taro croissant, hojicha tea choux, Portuguese egg tart, Portuguese egg tart without cinnamon and powder, and kaya egg tart. My personal favorite was the guava mochi cake! The guava tasted very fresh and sweet. This was delicious! The kaya croissant and Ube+Taro croissant were both filled generously, however the flavor of the filling was too subtle - to the point where I could not really taste the kaya and Ube/taro. Similarly, the egg tarts didn't have much flavor. The filling in the hojicha choux was too strong for us. I am not a big hojicha fan so I didn't enjoy this but if you like the flavor, you would probably like this dessert. I'm glad I finally got to try CA Bakehouse. The desserts looked very aesthetic and the flavor choices were interesting, but the flavors were hit or miss for us (either too strong or barely there). Parking was also difficult to find so I am unsure if I would come back - maybe would get the guava filled mochi if I was in the area. Overall, I would give CA Bakehouse a 3.5 rounding down to 3.

Yelp
I tried several times to go to this place and finally made it last Sat. I ordered a bit of everything out of the menu. The famous pandan waffle was just ok. What really stood out was the basque cheese cake. I was very skeptical in the beginning. But it turned out to be the best I have ever had. It was very light and not overloaded with sugar. The texture was complex too with a little bit of crisp on the edge and cake-like texture and creamy in the inside. It is a must have.

Yelp
Saw this in ig the last time I was in San fransisco. So i told myself I will visit this place when i come back. So here I am. I got there just 30 minutes before they close for the day. TheTuesday the next two days, on Monday and tuesday. You can't go in. You can order with the lady by the door and pay. Most of the stuff already sold out. I tried: Kaya egg tart - could use stronger flavor of kaya, but i love the crispy texture Mochi cake - sweetness is perfect, but could be more chewy.

Yelp
CA Bakehouse has a stand out Portuguese egg tart and everything else I've had here was average to fine. Definitely still swinging by for the egg tart and be prepared to wait on the weekend, but the line moves fairly quickly. Parking is pretty packed Pandan Choux Bun (2.5/5): Once again, the choux bun was super soggy, which is unfortunately the entire cream puff experience. Cream was solid enough, but nothing to write home about. Portuguese Egg Tart (4.5/5): Super creamy custard, definitely the best filling I've had so far. The crust this time around wasn't quite as flaky as I remember, but this spot is certainly still worth swinging by just for these. Pandan Honeycomb Cake (2.75/5): I personally didn't love the texture - it felt a little too wet and I wanted it to be more of a bouncy / chewy texture.

Yelp
This shop is located in a busy strip mall, so parking can be tricky. It's also very popular, there was a line but you can also preorder for pick up. I've been excited to try this bakery with many treats with an Asian flare. However, it was a little overhyped and the flavors fell a little flat. Ordered a variety: choux, pandan egg tarts, mochi cake and pandan cookies. The choux was too soft, and Hojicha flavor didn't taste like it at all and we couldn't finish it. The best thing we ate was the pandan cookie.

Yelp
I wanted to love this spot because I saw the other reviews, and I didn't love it, I did like it but not love it and hear me out why. Easy to place an order online for pickup and Tia pretty convenient and efficient. The line can be long depending on when you go hence instead of waiting in line we just placed an order through their website and it was ready in less than 10 mins. No seating inside, which isn't bad, so know that this is a to go spot. Food 2.5 - 2.7 stars Now onto the food, I love Ube, and I love croissants, so when I found out they bakery offers both in one I had to try it. The part I am disappointed about is that their fillings inside the croissants is very little (like you have to dig around to find it, that was a bummer). I tried their kaya croissant as well as their Ube croissant, tried their guava mochi cake (same filing was nonexistent), Ube choux (the only item that had reasonable filling). Thankfully none of the items were too sweet, but I wish they didn't cheap out on the filling as I think that would elevate the flavor from a 2.5 to 5 stars; and this spot will get a lot more business. Because the filling isn't sweet, but its needed to balance the croissants (otherwise anyone can get plain croissants at other bakeries where they have the best buttery croissants- doing this will lead to a better competitive advantage) parking is a nightmare in this location that requires patience (I did not deduct any stars for this, this is more of an fyi and not the business's fault). Customer service is good (4 stars for it)

Yelp
This is a solid bake shop with some really great goodies! My favorite is the honeycomb cake, it's moist and delicious! The flavor is wonderful and really worth the price! The mochi cake is really nice as well, be ft chewy and sweet. The pandan milk buns are good, but really filling. The choux and egg tarts were alright. We usually order online for pick up and it's much easier than standing in the long line. The only downside is that they are only open at noon. Definitely worth trying!

Yelp
This bakery is more of an order and pickup place as you cannot walk in and browse to look at pastries. Lines are usually long on weekends so I opt to order ahead online through their website (also available in third party apps). I tried their egg tart, Kaya egg tart, choux pastry, and mochi cake. Kaya egg tart was light in favor (barely noticeable) but still good. My favorite was their normal egg tart - while the crust was flakey and more dense, tart was overall still delicious. Mochi cake was standard, choux pastry I could've definitely skipped (didn't love the pastry but filling was good). Overall place was good. Plaza it's located is busy and may be hard to find parking on weekends!

Yelp
I'm definitely the unpopular opinion when it comes to CA Bakehouse. Maybe Asian desserts aren't my fave but items ordered were decent. Sister loves her pandan desserts and asked me to pick up items with pandan ("Asian-vanilla") usually accompanied by coconut milk: :: Pandan Macadamia Cookie - these were okay and not much to rave about as far as flavor but it was a nice soft, chewy cookie with taste of macadamia :: Bánh Bò Nướng (honeycomb cake) - chewy, airy from the use of tapioca flour...if you like mochi you'll love this cake. Sadly, it wasn't for me...its a texture thing and to me, didn't have much flavor :: Kaya and Durian Egg Tart - family enjoyed these brightly-colored tarts. Crust nice and flaky. Wish I had purchased a simple Portuguese tart to try. Overall, i wasn't a fan but sister was happy with her #1 request of the honeycomb cake with the bouncy texture and pandan flavors. Other family members enjoyed but I felt like my 7- year old niece "I just taste GREEN"....EXACTLY! Also picked up orders for a friend and she thought items were 'ok'. The owner who handed me my order was very friendly and nice. After ordering about $150 worth of items, I forgot to add a pandan waffle to eat for the ride home... I asked if it was okay to order ONE item....the young worker said I would have to move over to the ORDERING line (10 people) and wait. SMH. It wasn't like I was ordering 10 more items.....almost had a New Jersey Housewife moment and flip the table....okay, only in my head! Place is set up for pickup/ordering at the door vs perusing in the bakery. Best to order online and pickup to minimize the wait. Saturday pickup was fine as i have good parking karma and scored a spot in front but it's a bit chaotic exiting (101, Story Road) the freeway (11:30 am) with parking being a challenge and a bit frenetic.

Yelp
Asian fusion bakery that likes to play with Asian flavors like pandan and Kaya. I got an assortment to bring home to SoCal with me. This location is in Viet Town and is very close to the San Jose airport. The pastries were deliciously unique in their own way. Try them with a pot of jasmine tea. Different from the ordinary and good to try. Parking is available around the center. Casual. Please come and create your own experience.

Yelp
I was in the area for an event and was wanted to pickup some Asian desserts to take back home, given I had plenty of bookmarks around San Jose and this was one of them. I'd previously come here to find out they were closed. It's in a large Vietnamese shopping/dining mall in San Jose. It was really crowded on a Sunday after New Year's and finding parking was tough for a bit, we eventually got a spot after waiting a bit. There was a line, they're obviously super popular. The baked items were coming fresh out. I was confused for a while with all the options, especially because I wanted to have both kayo and ube, and also the egg tart. I eventually settled on getting a Portuguese egg tart and a kayo (pandan custard) croissant. My friend got the guava mochi. I gulped both desserts down immediately after getting home. They were both great, I can't pick one over the other. It's easy to see why the kaya croissant is a bestseller, it's was light, fresh, and the right amount of sweet for sure. I've had pandan flavored desserts before and this was certain up there with them. Egg tart was fluffy and filling! It was light in terms of flavor without a strong egg flavor for me. Good value for money for both in my opinion.
google avatar

Anny O.

Yelp
Durian Portuguese tart 3.5/5 - durian flavor is there but overall didn't enjoy this as much as I hoped. The crust could've been flakier but maybe it's because I got it in the late afternoon

Yelp
The funny thing about this place is that I've never physically been at the location just because of the horror stories that I hear about the parking and lines when people go. Unfortunately, I am able to rave about the location HOWEVER, I can speak to their food since I order from them on DoorDash pretty frequently LOL My favorite thing to order are their egg Tarts, pandan waffle batter, and the croissants. I've never had an issue with delivery other than once I open the box, you get this amazing aroma of the baked goods. I do want to see the physical store, and maybe I'll update my review by then. Just make sure to check their business hours before going.

Yelp
Fresh Asian flavored pastries! Pandan egg tart and Portuguese egg tart was yum! Winner here for me was their cassava cake. Their pandan croissant custard was solid. Croissant could use a little bit more fluffiness - a bit hard/not as fresh as other croissants I've had. They rotate their menu, but their egg tarts are always there. Quick order and pick up. The shop doesn't let you in at the moment. You just order at their door.
google avatar

Marilyn P.

Yelp
I honestly really like CA Bakehouse, and their pastries! It's a cute pick up type of situation, so there's no seating. I'd recommend already knowing what you want to order because the line can move fairly quickly. I bought the Portuguese Egg Tart and Pandan Choux, and both were so flavorful and fresh. The outer part was soft, and the fillings for both were not too sweet either.

Yelp
Thanks to the many awesome recommendations and pics from fellow yelpers, we came by to check this place out. We didn't realize they were near closing and we saw their coconut buns and honeycomb cakes hot and fresh from the oven. I wanted to try their croissants and egg tarts but the 2 ladies there said they're all sold out and about to close. (Thats when we realized they were closing and we happened to walk in as they were prepping to close). They were nice enough to still sell us the buns and honeycomb cake as we said we literally just got there from SoCal! I will say...perhaps we never had these literally fresh out of the oven in LA and why they were sooo deliciously soft and fluffy but they were still just as good as the moment we bought them the next day!! One of the best I ever had!! Oh I will miss delicious morsels n will get definitely get a few more if i ever go back to visit NorCal! Alongside the egg tarts and all the other items next time!! Or perhaps, they can open one is SoCal one day! Place was clean and nice. Service was great and parking was plentiful. A bit costly in my opinion but totally worth it!!

Yelp
Parking is always a bit difficult to find in this area. We came here around 1:30pm on Saturday and it was pretty crowded outside the store with a short line. We got a Portuguese egg tart, Kaya egg tart, ube croissant, hojicha choux, and espresso cookie. We enjoyed all of the pastries, and the espresso cookie and ube croissant were my favorite. The two egg tarts didn't seem to have much of a difference in flavor. I'd come back again to try other items!

Yelp
We stopped by today (Friday) to pick up some pastries today. We ordered one each of the choices (Ube, Kaya, Hojicha, Black Sesame, and Durian), Durian Egg Tart, Egg Tart, Guava Mochi Cake, and Banh Bo (Honeycomb Cake). This bakery is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12-4pm. We usually put in our orders online before arriving because sometimes the pick up line gets really long.
google avatar

Pam N.

Yelp
The honeycomb pandan cake is enough to warrant 5 stars. The most buttery squishy cake. I always think to myself if I can brave the traffic and parking situation at viet town to get some more. The guava mochi cake was also phenomena! We walked in at closing time and the ladies had already packaged everything up. Luckily they were willing to sell to us anyway. It kinda felt like I was at a stall in Vietnam cuz they were all trying to get me to buy more than I bargained for. And I'm do glad they did cuz I came home with a bounty! If only I could get down there more often, I would. These ladies know how to bake!

Yelp
CA Bakehouse has a variety of pastries and baked goods with Asian-inspired flavors like Durian, Pandan, Ube, and more! They're a popular spot and there was a line formed outside the shop. Next time, we'll order online beforehand. We ordered the Kaya Croissant, Kaya Egg Tart, Portuguese Egg Tart, and Pandan Cake. I only tried the Kaya Egg Tart since I also got some food from TP Bao 5, but my siblings said they enjoyed the other pastries as well. I definitely would come back to try more of their pastries and drinks too!

Yelp
Lovely lady that offers free samples and coffee. I bought two Portuguese egg tarts, doughnut, and cupcake.

Yelp
Service: We were able to place and receive our order quickly. Someone took our order at the door on the tablet. When our order was ready, someone brought out a box of warm egg tarts. Food: We only ordered their Kaya and Durian egg tarts. I would pass on the Kaya tarts - they didn't really taste like pandan at all despite the vibrant green color. The durian tart was very intense in flavor and is worth a try if you like durian. I'd like to try their other pastries, especially their choux (cream puffs) and croissants.

Monica S.

Yelp
Got these as a gift and it was pretty good! I go to the plaza often, but usually haven't made my way to CA Bakehouse because of a line. But I wouldn't mind stopping by the next time I'm in the area. The only thing that is tough is finding parking in this plaza over the weekend. But overall I really liked the egg tarts the most. The Portuguese and the Kaya egg tarts were spot on and a perfect pairing with coffee.

Yelp
This is definitely one of my favorite pastry spots. Had the pandan chiffon cake and it was softer than a cloud. The original pandan waffle was finished before we got to the park. The chocolate chip cookies were just the right size to energize little bellies. A little park time with a little pastry was perfect for a mid week treat.
google avatar

Yelp
Workers were very friendly. Gave us good recommendations. We got there on a Friday afternoon just as they were opening. We only waited about five minutes before we were able to put an order in. I really enjoyed their Durian egg tarts! It was unique, warm, and fluffy. We also received our goodies very quickly. The croissants I would recommend to heat up before eating. To go place only it seems

Yelp
Coming to CA Bakehouse has recently gotten me very obsessed with anything ube or pandan related. This bakehouse is an asian themed bakery with lots of unique pastries to choose from. I decided to get a pandan custard croissant, an ube custard croissant, a guava mochi cake, pandan chiffon cake, and a pandan waffle. You order at a little table in the front; you're not actually able to go into the store itself but you can still get a whiff of the delicious smells and see all the pastries beautifully displayed in their cases. The pandan waffle is made to order and comes out hot and fresh. My family tore into this in the car and it was a big hit - nicely chewy with a hint of sweetness. We then had the rest of the pastries over the next few days. The custard in the croissants was so creamy and sweet, paired with the flaky, buttery croissant laters. The chiffon cake was just a tad sweet from the pandan with a nice, spongy texture. My favorite was the mochi cake - it had the typical dense chewiness of the mochi but with the tart, sweetness of the guava center which paired perfectly with the cake itself. I can't wait to come back to this bakery and load up on more goodies!

Yelp
Just finishing lunch we were in the mood for something to take home. Found CA Bakehouse with rave reviews and interesting and Asian inspired pastries. Had to try! Ordering online should have been easy. Went to their website but regret 3 of their ordering engines would not complete for me. It did work for my friends iPhone and she was able to preorder, one order but not 2x... I called to preorder as the website says to do but the employee did not want to take the order over phone and advised me to "just come in". Not a big deal. Just trying to avoid the wait. Got there and this is the goodness I got to go: Pandan milk bread with coconut filling $7.35 for six rolls): Bread was on dry side, not soft if it were fresh made. Filling balancing flavor. Wrapped with moist paper towel and microwaved 20 seconds brought pastry back to life. 3/5 Portugese egg tarts ($2.85/ea): tasty yet unremarkable. 4/5 Kaya egg tarts (3.10/ea): subtle taste yet delicious. 4.5/5 Guava mochi cake ($3.10/ea): Would have been better if fresh but tasted like day old. Also had to microwave to make more palatable. 3/5 Durian choux ($3.35/ea). Shared by NON durian lovers outside of bakery, even tho fresh... so no. LOL Banh bo/pandan honeycomb cake. My favorite. Wish I had gotten a whole cake instead of just a slice ($2.85/slice) 5/5 Hojicha latte (5.60) I should have asked for less sweet which is an option... my bad. 5/5. Waited about 10 minutes in shop next door. Pickup was a breeze. Would I be back? Definitely for the banh bo and another hojicha latte and to try a different flavor of choux. Perhaps black sesame next time?

Yelp
Literally the PERFECT spot for sweet treats. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was a bit of a line; but service was super efficient. There is no seating inside and they take your order at the door, so this is more of a order and go type of vibe. That being said, ambiance is not needed when the pastries are that good. Being that I'm not from the area, I decided to go all out. THE GOODS: 〰  Portuguese Egg Tart (4.5/5): So good! I loveeee egg tarts and this was no exception. I had these the next day and they still tasted like they were made that day. 〰  Kaya Egg Tart (4.7/5): A LEVELED UP EGG TART! The kaya really elevates the pastry. I enjoyed it a lot 〰  Kaya Croissant (1000/5): I've seen these on IG and THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Easily my favorite thing here. I had this the day AFTER I bought it and the croissant was still super flaky and the filling was soooo yummy. I can't even imagine how good it would be the day off! Need this again so bad. 〰  Hojicha Choux (3.5/5): As a hojicha lover, I really enjoyed this. I, once again, had this the day after, and I don't think it holds up as well as the other pastries. It was still pretty good, but I imagine it's wayyyy better the day of. Already dreaming of my next visit!

Yelp
I was really excited to come here as the pictures online looked super good! The bakery was located in a plaza where parking was hard to find. The inside of the store was not open and ordering occurred at the storefront. The bakery itself smelled wonderful, and I got the Portuguese egg tart, black sesame choux, pandan croissant, and the original mochi cake. I thought that the Portuguese egg tart, pandan croissant, and original mochi cake all had a very artificial sweet flavor. The pandan croissant was very dry and not buttery. I was really excited to try the black sesame choux, but I couldn't taste the sesame flavor at all and it had a very bitter aftertaste. :( But, the service was good!

Yelp
I'm honestly upset that I just recently discovered this place through a friend because I absolutely loved their Pandan Croissant. CA Bakehouse is a takeout-only bakery offering a selection of baked goods with a variety of Asian flavors like ube, pandan, durian, and more. They have egg tarts, mochi cakes, croissants, and other treats. As mentioned, I ordered the Pandan Croissant, and it was amazing. The croissant was huge, sliced in half, and filled with a pandan cream. The cream was delicious, and combined with the flaky croissant, it created the perfect texture and flavor pairing. To top it all off, the Pandan Croissant was only $4.35! The service was also very quick. I received my order within a minute, and this was near closing time. I was surprised they still had some in stock, especially since the Pandan Croissant seems like one of their most popular menu items. Most bakeries would have run out by then!

Yelp
What a gem! It's a small bakery with a big taste! When we came here, no entrance to the bakery. Ordering can be done at the front of the store or online. We ordered online and our order came out fast. We got the pandan and durian egg tart. Both were yummy!! We got two orders of the pandan waffle which were made on demand. They came out fresh!! The waffles were on a thin side for me but overall it was a fan favorite. My favorite was the pandan croissant - it was filled with pandan whipped cream! It was cream and fresh!! Lastly, we had the pandan macadamia nut cookie. This spot is definitely must stop for sweets for us!

Yelp
A to-go only bakery place. Place and pick up orders at the door. All the pastries can be seen through the window and have a vibrant green color from the pandan baked goods. Went near the end of the day. The croissant and egg tart were a bit cold and hard. Great flavor otherwise. Loved the types of fusions they have but will probably have to go earlier for a fresher batch.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for a while and finally got the change! To start, it's located in a plaza that gets VERY crowded! Me and my friend weren't able to find parking until many many circles around, so I ended up dropping her off. I would also recommend ordering ahead of time for an easy pick-up! I ordered the Guava-filled Mochi as well as the Pandan Coconut and Macadamia cookie. I enjoyed the Guava-filled mochi which had the guava towards the bottom of the pastry. I've been obsessed with pandan coconut cookies recently and thought this one was pretty good, although it was too chewy for me, so broke apart very easily.

Yelp
The egg tarts are the best things on the menu here. The bakery closes early and the egg tarts run out earlier in the day, so I'd recommend coming early.

Yelp
Wow I've had these guys on my south bay spots to try for ages now but their location is so far from me that I've put it off.... What a mistake on my end! This place is fantastic! Home to the original pandan waffle, they killed it there and with all their other pastries. Go early (they opened early the day we went so we missed the line that appeared shortly after) and grab one of everything. They sell out fast.

Yelp
Viet-inspired bakeshop with innovative twists on classic favorites Loved everything. Great dessert stop in San Jose's Little Saigon! Honeycomb cake (banh bo) -- light, chewy and oh so coconutty thanks to the pandan. Love that it's gluten-free too. We picked up a whole cake and was shocked that the cake was still so tender and fresh even after the next day. Banh bo is definitely one of my favorites!!! Guava Mochi cake-- we couldn't help ourselves from taking a big bite of this as soon as we got our goodies. In our haste, we accidentally bit into the wax paper at the bottom of the cake too. Despite this, the mochi cake still tasted amazing. I'm sure it would have been out of this world if we'd taken the time to warm it up a bit too ! Durian Choux pastry -- stuffed with a durian cream filling. Choux is best fresh so these were no longer crispy at the end of the day, but surely nothing a quick toast in the oven couldn't fix. Ube & Taro choux-- same notes as above!! Kaya egg tart-- I didn't get to try, but my bf swears by it

Yelp
This is my favorite bakery in the Bay Area. Conveniently it is in San Jose. Every time I come here I ALWAYS get the pandan croissants. The pandan custard inside is so sweet and yummy. The other desserts are also great but the pandan croissant stands out the most to me. It isn't a walk in bakery because you order outside and wait until they call your name. Usually service is quite fast so that's a plus. The inside looks very nice though with all of the baked goods on display.

Yelp
I really like their Kaya (pandan) croissant and choux but their green waffle is mediocre at best. I've had the waffle back when their storefront was within the grand century mall and wasn't impressed then and not impressed now. Their pandan green waffle is crispy but thin and lacking pandan flavor. Their other pandan desserts have much better pandan flavor, the waffle just had the green color in my opinion. They're usually pretty busy so order ahead if you can.

Yelp
The kaya croissant and ube croissant are my favorite! Super flavorful but everything is definitely on the sweeter side. The egg tart is a good level of sweetness and flavor if you don't have much of a sweet tooth. Service is super chill and nice. There's not much seating area, it's a takeout to go place.
