Joverse in Old Montreal to Become Mediterranean Restaurant Sauvage | Eater Montreal

"I noted that NDG ice cream shop Ca Lem has opened a third outpost in Old Montreal (its first started on Sherbrooke Street West in 2016), now serving purple taro, strawberry and lychee, and pandan-coconut scoops from a weekend-focused location in Place d’Youville that is open Friday to Sunday from 12 to 8 p.m." - Valerie Silva

This is the Old Port location. The soft serve flavor today was "breakfast swirl" CAD$8.28 with vanilla soft serve and grapefruit sorbet. They added granola toppings only on one side, and they kept falling off. It was so hot this summer day that the ice cream melted quickly! The taste was ok. I think it's mostly the pretty colors they use that are attractive. It was annoying when my soft serve almost toppled over because they only put it on the top of the cone. The ice cream got stuck together like one huge piece over the cone. There was not enough ice cream IN the cone to hold it down.

I had bookmarked this ice cream shop in Old Montreal and was drawn in by its cute sign and welcoming exterior. When we visited, it wasn’t very busy, with just one other small group there when we arrived and another couple later on. There were two employees working; both were friendly, though the service itself wasn’t particularly memorable. We tried the maple pecan, which I would have again since I liked the flavor and the whole pecan pieces mixed in. The black sesame, however, was a miss for me, since it leaned more sweet than nutty, and the flavor wasn’t as bold as I’d hoped. Overall, the ice cream wasn’t the creamiest, though I appreciated that it wasn’t icy either. I’d say it’s a decent spot to try if you’re in the area, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to visit again.

Tried the watermelon swirl at Calem Creamery and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The combo of strawberry sorbet and honeydew soft serve is light, fruity, and perfectly creamy. It’s the kind of dessert that feels refreshing, not heavy — ideal for a hot Montreal day. Bonus: it’s beautiful enough to post, and the staff were super sweet. I’ll definitely be back to try their other flavours! The line was crazy long but the employee was scooping out flavours fast!

Awesome spot for more unique flavours ! Tried the pandan coco and despite being dairy free, it was super light and creamy, fluffy even. And the flavour was incredible, buttery, vanilla-y, coconuty, would recommend !

Finally an ice cream spot I can enjoy! Everything is lactose free 🤌🏻 always a delicious treat - highly recommend the weekly swirl!

Friendly staff and cute decor, but the quantity of soft serve ice cream is definitely lesser than what I remember from the prior years. It was already melting and tilted, barely filling the bottom of the paper cup. The taste of the cherry/tiramisu was okay. Yuzu was consistently good.

Loved it! I ordered the melon ice cream. Yummy yummy. Not too sweet. Just about right. My friend ordered the boba and taro flavor, also lychee. They were all good.
