"Do you need to get a meal with your aunt and uncle who want to listen to you talk about all the things you’re currently doing (or not doing) with your life? Go to Cabana. It’s a Latin American restaurant with a bar up front and a little dining room in the back where there are bunch of tables covered in white tablecloths. The food is solid - they have everything from salad and ceviche to steak and empanadas - and despite the white tablecloths, it actually isn’t formal at all. Wear a t-shirt, and drink a pitcher of sangria." - Bryan Kim

A lovely and reasonably priced place close to the beach in Laguna. I would highly recommend the tacos as the home made tortillas were fantastic. The service was super friendly and helpful. Parking was pretty easy during the off season, probably much worse in the summer.

Wow what an amazing new place bringing life to Laguna Beach! I love how it’s a full dining experience with fire dancers, acrobatics, djs, etc. It’s such a fun change of pace for the area and a great place to go out! I’ve also visited for brunch and my mouth is still watering thinking about the french toast and huevos rancheros! Love this place, my new go to…I’ve never ordered anything I haven’t LOVED. Cocktails too.

Dined last night with some friends, who were excited to try this new spot out in Laguna Beach, I was excited to show them. Showed up before my reservation time and they took us in quickly. Originally requested an indoor table, but we're sat out in the patio. I had brought it up to the staff about it. They apologized and said they would see what they could do. In the meantime, we sat out in the patio by the fountain, which was peaceful. The night was fresh and the smell of the ocean, the music and the pyro dancer, made it a Great Experience. We had some drinks and appetizers, which were Delicious! 20 Minutes into our reservation, the Restaurant Owner (José), came out to apologize for the confusion, and told us they had a table set up for us, indoors. Above and Beyond, when it comes to customer service and making sure we were satisfied. As for the service. Our server Carrie was Friendly, Great Energy, Funny and just AMAZING! Wait staff are quick to check in on you, clear any finished plates and drinks. The food presentation is great and tasted delicious. Drinks were of great quality. You can tell they use top shelf alcohol and not watered down. We tried several different drinks, appetizers and dishes. The vibe of the restaurant is Energetic and Awesome. They have a live DJ (Jehan) music performer (Chris) and Pyro Dancer. The Staff make it feel like your Family. Chris, would come over to our table and interact with us. Best two hour Dinning Experience, last night in a beautiful restaurant in Laguna Beach. You have to check it out. Thank You José, Carrie, Chris, Jehan and all of the Cabana Staff for making this a Memorable night for My Friends and I. Definitely worth the drive down to Laguna Beach for an Energetic Dinning Experience. Looking forward to planning Brunch at Cabana.

Google
This place has an absolutely amazing vibe. The dJ and music is on point. The staff was genuine and incredibly pleasant (shout out to Rod and Krystal). I loved the lighting and lounge feel. Great spot to check out with friends or a date. Super classy. Well done!!! I’ll definitely be back.

Google
Awesome restaurant! Food, drinks and service were top notch, not to mention the prices. There is nowhere else in Laguna Beach where you can get such quality at that price level. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience!

Google
Fantastic Happy Hour - with great drinks and an excellent wine selection. Apol, the barman, was awesome - very welcoming and sociable - we will be back for sure.

Atmosphere was great. Service was fantastic and food was excellent. It was the bedtime taco I’ve ever had.

I recently dined here and I must say, the experience was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to the amazing bartender, Krystal. From the moment I sat down at the bar, I was greeted with a warm smile and impeccable service. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about the extensive drink menu, but she also took the time to recommend a few signature cocktails that suited my taste preferences. Each drink was expertly crafted and very delicious. She went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Their attention to detail and friendly demeanor made me feel welcome and valued as a customer. Overall, my visit was made memorable by the exceptional service provided by their talented bartender. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for not only delicious food but also an unforgettable dining experience. I will definitely be returning soon to enjoy more of their delightful cocktails and hospitality.

Yelp
I have been lucky enough to enjoy Cabana a few times with my girlfriends! Whether it's for happy hour or drinks with the DJ, Cabana knows how to host and make sure you enjoy your time here! From their drinks to all of their appetizers, we have always been happy with what we pick. My personal favorites are the ceviche and spicy margarita (honestly a good combo too)! The only downside is that the ceviche does not come with chips or a toastada, so be sure to order some on the side!

Yelp
Satisfied all of my Sunday brunch cravings! Reserved a patio table for 11am (when they open) and enjoyed a birthday brunch next to the fountain. The chicken chilaquiles were perfection - wouldn't change a thing and finished every bite. Mimosas were appropriately boozy and we finished our meal with their churros which were completely worth the calories! The brunch menu was very short but hit all the necessary points. Cost was around $40 per person with tip. While not "on the beach", this beach-adjacent restaurant has created a lovely coastal hacienda atmosphere. I was genuinely surprised it wasn't busy for brunch on a beautiful autumn day - we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Service was slow in a relaxed way (as opposed to a "we felt neglected" way). When the sun shifted, they were kind enough to re-position the umbrellas so we had shade. Curious to see what the evening vibe is like and to try more on their menu. Go check this place out!

Nancie M.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Cabana since opening and I decided to go with my peruvian friend and check it out. I made a reservation at noon on a Sunday and ate outside on patio area. The service was impeccable all the plates we ordered were amazing Fish tacos seafood plate (Branzio Al Ajo )with fish calamari appetizer Taquitos/quesadilla everything was exceptional and now for the most epic cocktails u gotta try Sandia Fresca to die for ... also Dama Rose both amazing!

Kamelia T.

Yelp
This is more of a dinner and dance vibe! The atmosphere was beautiful and everything we tried from appetisers to food and drinks Tasted good. They also had a very good DJ playing all kinds of musics and we were also entertained with Beautiful Sofia's belly dancing through out our dinner. This is also a great place to go for dance. I believe after certain hours it becomes like a dancing club but I'm not sure. I would definitely take more friends and family there in future.

Robert M.

Yelp
This place is beautiful. And it's new. The interior has large circular chandeliers, plants and great lighting inside. There is a DJ booth and a long bar at the back. Service was very good - attentive, professional, and helpful. The menu here has great pricing, and a variety of traditional Americanized Mexican favorites, including nachos and tacos. I had a great time here. And I wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

Noah D.

Yelp
First, I must apologize for the poor lighting. The restaurant has low lighting, which really sets the ambiance but makes it difficult to take photos! The tacos with the blue corn tortillas did not disappoint, everything came together perfectly. The drinks were great, on the sweeter side, but nothing to complain about. The short rib was amazing. The mashed potatoes underneath it mixed well with the short rib, it was great. The risotto was okay, nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Overall experience, 8.5/10 Would come again, affordable, and high quality.

Yelp
5 stars for happy hour and taco Tuesday until 6 pm which is so cool and fun. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. This place used to be Suenos and now it's Cabana. Our waiter is so personable and cool and he is delightful!! Our guacamole and chips were good and so was the ceviche. I wil definitely come back every Tuesday!' The food is an interesting mix of Mexican and Peruvian snd the probes are so reasonable for Laguna Beach! I highly recommend

Arolyn B.

Yelp
Crazy busy. Fire dancers, belly dancers, delicious food, yummy drinks and a free drink on arrival. Sooo good and Carie our waitress was spectacular. One silly complaint. The ceviche was cut very large. Would be nice of it was a bit smaller. But my boyfriend drank all the juice it was such a good flavor.

Moh N.

Yelp
Tried this place last night, food was meh! Drinks were ok! The set up is strange , it's little and all tables are arranged in a circle facing the dj. Won't go back! Ceviche was the worst ever, it was just fish pieces and raw onions. The atmosphere is confusing, Mexican restaurant with acrobatics??? The only good thing about this night was the DJ!

Aalia S.

Yelp
I went on a Tuesday so they had taco Tuesday all night and happy hour until six. I really enjoyed the mango margarita for seven dollars. Their shrimp taco was great for five dollars. The bartender named Apple was amazing. They had a DJ starting at 6:30. The only complaint is that it was dead. I hope they pick up soon because this is a cool spot in Orange County.

Valerie S.

Yelp
Beautiful day in Laguna Beach for Brunch. Nuevo-Mexican/Peruvian (mostly Mexican food) is basically dolled-up peasant food. But Boy-O-Boy I love Mexican food. The table shared a variety of dishes. Chicken Taquitos - a little spice Sope De Birria - The Au Jus was divine The Tuna Tartare- looked very fresh. I didn't get a bite of this one... Coctel de Camaron Shrimpies (these are bacon-wrapped) Tacos- Filet Mignon, Chicken, Pescado These were delish!! Wagyu sliders & Fries Wings - Double fried Chilaquiles- excellent. And the drinks were stupidly good! I had the Sandia Fresca. Let me tell you about this wet goodness. She's got Cucumber Vodka, Watermelon Puree and Agave. That's it. with a side of Tajin on the glass. I mean slap yo mamma!! This was so refreshing. You have to try it. Housekeeping. This restaurant is located on Ocean, between Beach/PCH. (Ocean is a one-way street). There is NO lot or dedicated parking for this little gem. Parking is a struggle so please give yourself about 20 minutes to find parking during peak hours. We are straight across from Hennessey's and next to the Marine Room. Two stalls in Bathroom ( sufficient for a small restaurant) The staff were sweet and helpful ( party of 20 yes, thanks for dealing with my crowd of hens)

Jessica C.

Yelp
Finally! A restaurant with a fun vibe in Laguna! Love that it is right next to the main beach. My first impression of the place was that it was of decent size compared to most restaurants in Laguna beach. Good menu variety. The drinks were so pretty and tasty! Get the horchata martini if you like horchata! You won't be disappointed!

Craig M.

Yelp
My wife and I enjoy many nice restaurants in town like Broadway's, Drakes, Nicks and Selanne's. This new restaurant is a great addition and deserves a rating of 5 stars for overall value. Ambience is excellent and the setting beautiful. The prices for drinks and food are likely some of the best in all of Laguna for this stylish of a place. We tried the ceviche, saltado de fajitas, and estofado de carne. All were good, but next time we would skip the estofado de carne as for us the flavor was underwhelming. We definitely will be back for dinner and may also check out their very intriguing happy hour at some point. Great addition to Laguna Beach I believe!

Yelp
Great space with exceptional food and service. We had an ahi tuna appetizer, then branzino fish for me, filet for BF. We savored every bite. For drinks, we had champagne, then old fashioneds- delicious and well presented with an orange peel and cherry. On Ocean Avenue, near the Marine Room; lovely space and lovely time. We'll be back (and take photos next time).

Yelp
My boyfriend & I had dinner on a Thursday at 7:30 with only a handful of other tables occupied; so we sat in a big ,corner booth. The restaurant has nice decor & the staff was great. We ordered *guacamole & chips (good but huge chunks of red onion dictated the texture- diced smaller would be ideal - for flavor, too) *ceviche (good but lacked salt & possibly too tart.. tasted more like citrus peel than citrus juice) *quesito camarone -which is fried cheese in the shape of a tortilla (very good) *risotto de camarones - this dish was extremely good & very RICH (I suggest sharing this with a few people) *Cheesecake- it's cheesecake! The guava sauce atop was great! The salsas were all very flavorful & we practically drank them. We had a good time & enjoyed the food in the moment but my bf has been nauseous since & can't recall the risotto without becoming nauseous- I would blame it on the richness of the dish but this man eats heavy/fattening almost daily so I think it may have been the food :( I will give them another try if my bf can be convinced-as I enjoyed the food, ambiance & staff.

Yelp
Definitely loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. First, I would like to recognize the amazing service we received by Carrie, who was extremely helpful with making wonderful suggestions for drinks and appetizers. I'm going to list what we drank and ate along with the rating and our thoughts. DRINKS: MANGO MEZCAL MARGARITA - 4/5 rating - this was absolutely delicious however it was a little more on the sweeter side. If you're into fruity sweet drinks this would be for you. CABANA OLD FASHION - 3/5 - as a lover of old fashions, it was definitely different. Probably won't get it again, the whiskey tasted light and the smoke after taste over powered the flavor of the whiskey but it's always nice to try other versions of an old fashion. SANDIA FRESCA - 5/5 - highly recommend, this drink was amazing! It is very refreshing and I loved the after taste. The huge slices of watermelon that come with the drink is the cherry on top. MANGONADA CANTARITO - 5/5 highly recommend, very refreshing as well. The Chamoy and tajin rim complemented the drink nicely. Not too sweet, just right. FOOD: TOCINO DE CAMARONES - 5/5 - highly recommend, so delicious! The shrimp is stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Our only complaint is that the bacon was slightly over cooked but I won't let that hurt the rating we give it. ;-) delish! SALTADO DE FAJITAS - 5/5 - highly recommend, this dish was wonderful. The fillet mignon was cooked perfect, and the overall flavor of the beef broth / juice was amazing. My favorite part of lomo saltado dishes is the veggies! It was also served with blue corn tortillas. This was shared between 2 people. It is definitely a spot to grab a bite, have a drink, and enjoy the ambiance. Cheers.

Yelp
Service was EXCELLENT ambiance and food... definitely loved the sea bass sashimi! The waiter was so helpful, feel guilty I can't remember his name but he went above and beyond

Marina D.

Yelp
We had a lovely dining experience overall last night at Cabana! 5 star earned! The food, service, ambiance and the special birthday candle for our birthday girl made our experience very memorable and I'll be back! Our server was exceptional and very attentive to our table. She was great at giving menu and appetizer suggestions! The TOCINO DE CAMARONES appetizer was on point!

Elisabetta M.

Yelp
Food was underwhelming. The ambience was confusing with belly dancers in a mexican restaurant? The decor is kind of cold... only good thing the DJ. Service ok. Overall not worth it. Sorry, maybe it just opened and it needs some time to work it out, but it's a no for me.

Ryan E.

Yelp
Sort of over blown and seemingly too obvious they are trying to really push this place as a hot spot with the credit card hold for a reservation. Visited on a Saturday evening and there were plenty of open tables. Drinks are pretty good food was just decent. The biggest kicker, ordered some chips, salsa, and guacamole to start while we looked over the menu. The chips were horrible and on the verge of stale. The guac was good. The salsa.... We'll see the picture attached as to how it came to the table. Glad we tried it out but way over hyped and a 5/10 for food and atmosphere in Laguna.

Roya M.

Yelp
Wish I could give zero stars. We made reservations for 7pm for our anniversary. We get there and no one was there to check us in and take us to our table. We stood there standing for 5 mins for the waitress to tell us "you can seat yourself" We found a corner booth and sat down at 6:50 we walked out at 7:20 when not one person came over to give us water or get our drink orders. No eye contact or acknowledgment that we were sitting there for over 30mins. At this point I told my husband that we should leave. Let me just say.....don't come here if you're not old and white. I can't tell you anything about their food but if it's like their service I will never have it. I will make sure everyone I know, knows about this experience.

Syper S.

Yelp
Come to happy hours Monday- Friday 3-6. It turns out one hour 5-6, because they work up to 3. Margarita cocktail is super. ceviche 5+. The oysters are good.

Aleck M.

Yelp
Avoid it. Mediocre food. They're trying to bring people in with their "entertainment" but over all just a subpar experience. Save your time and money.

Martin S.

Yelp
We tried Cabana for the first time. It just opened, and we know there are always some challenges to starting a new restaurant. The ambiance is very nice, and the music is excellent. We noticed that some hosts and servers are doing this for the first time. There were some minor issues, but this issue will undoubtedly resolve itself over time. The first negative thing I noticed is that there are no prices for cocktails on the menu. This gives the impression that they have market or seasonal prices. We had as a starter Tocino de Camarones (bacon-wrapped and cream cheese-filled shrimp), which was very good! We ordered the main dishes and had them on our table 5 minutes later. Wow! They must have been waiting for us. My wife ordered Penne pasta with shrimp and mushrooms topped with micro cilantro. Unfortunately, the mushrooms and micro cilantro were missing. She did not complain, so we would not have to wait for a replacement. The pasta was very soft, and the taste was somewhat bland. I had Arroz de Mariscos, which was OK. Good spices but appeared a little mushy. A big surprise was that the bill suggested tipping between 20-24%. I have not seen that on any bill in LB before. I usually tip on the higher side, but being shamed into high tipping is a big turnoff! We would come back after a few months, maybe after the first opening issues smoothed out a little.

H T.

Yelp
This place had the potential to be chic I am just unsure of what they are trying to accomplish. I think they are trying to do a Miami vibe with a DJ and club atmosphere I just don't think it's translating properly in laguna. The portions were pretty small and it was also not that busy. The music is ear bleeding too loud and I go to many restaurants and clubs with music around the country. in france and NYC they put a Decibal monitor above the DJ a deck at beach clubs and restaurants so the DJ realizes how loud their music is since they usually have headphones on. I see potential but the food is expensive and average and they need to figure out their music and atmosphere vibe. It's just not translating also the DJ should have started the evening with low house and then moved into different music as the evening progressed but instead he just was not it. Actually the Music was so bad and loud that it actually made us want to finish our average meals asap and go somewhere else. The management needs to go to a few other places with a similar vibe maybe elephante in LA and figure it out.

Tim G.

Yelp
Just got back from Cabana and had a wonderful experience. Beautiful decor with nice outdoor patio and bar. I had lunch yesterday at the sister property, Costa (Peruvian), by the OC performing arts in CM which made me make reservations at Cabana. We had reservations at 5:45. We got in just before happy hour which ended at 6;00. Amazing drink prices ($3 beers & $5 margs) and good choice of apps. The DJ started spinning music early so good dance vibes. Luis, our server, went above and beyond with service and great rec for food and drinks. Everyone should try to give this newly opened restaurant a visit.

Cartier J.

Yelp
We loved this new spot! Something new and fresh to Laguna! The food was tasty, the drinks are amazing and the ambiance felt like we were on vacation. We loved the DJ!!! Nice weather, great drinks and some house music. Service was okay could be more attentive but I know a new restaurant takes some time for it to perfect everything! Definitely coming back!

Len M.

Yelp
I'm giving this review and overall 3. In my opinion the food was a 4.5 but the service was subpar. Very subpar. I could tell the waitress was trying her best but not sure if they're short handed or not managed well because it was VERY disorganized . This place has a lot of potential between the fire dancers, the ambiance and the food but the management is not doing their job. We reserved the table for 2 hours as per the app then when we got there we were told we had 90 minutes. Yet it took 30 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. So that means we'd have to rush eat and get outta there. That makes zero sense to me. How can you enjoy the experience in so little time. Again....management. Not sure I'll come back again . I want to enjoy my food not be rushed and feel like I'm bugging the waitress for the check or for the fork she took away or for more water.

Fifi J.

Yelp
First of all... great service as they changed our reservation time because of no grace period! Great food and drink! Got a red sangria... not on the menu, but was very refreshing and had a nice taste! For food, I ordered 2 Al pastor street tacos and they had a great flavor with one of my friends medium done Wagyu sliders! Lastly... Ambiance was divine, as we sat outside and had great weather!

Courtney L.

Yelp
I recently visited this restaurant for the first time. The ambience is nice although it's a little bit out of place for Laguna. The food was not good. They have a good happy hour specials on drinks and appetizers. The service was good but when we told them, the food was terrible, they didn't really seem to care. Hopefully this is just initial hiccups of opening a new restaurant.

Sina A.

Yelp
Had reservations, they acknowledged it, but told us they had to move our table "meaning they didn't have a table for us". Gave us a choice of sitting at the bar or leaving. Lots of empty tables of all sizes, but they claimed people were coming soon. An hour later they were all still empty. Not sure what was going on. The bar staff were great. The food was ok. To the owner, fire the rude young lady at the front. She will ruin your business slowly. One bad apple...

Lady Johana J.

Yelp
Fui a celebrar mi cumpleaños con amigas, y me encantó todo, el lugar, el ambiente, la atención, y sobretodo la comida. Sin duda alguna volveré allí.

Daniela P.

Yelp
Alberto and another waitress attended us for our friend's birthday celebration and they were super helpful, kind and always giving us the best options. The food id AMAZING!! we came on Tuesday and they have taco Tuesday and the street tacos were delicious!! I ordered Tinga, steak and Al Pastor and the portions were perfect!

Jess R.

Yelp
Server made us wait 30 mins after asking her repeatedly for the check. She said she wanted us to stay longer. Who makes someone stay longer when they've asked multiple times for the check. What a bizarre experience. Will not be coming back and have told our friends to stay away as well.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Tuna tartar is amazing , sliders are delicious and their drinks are also very yummy . Highly recommend going on a Friday or Saturday night as they have fire dancers and a dj. Great place for dinner and a show. Across the street from the beach where you can have a nice walk after your brunch , lunch or dinner.

John W.

Yelp
Customer beware. This place is trying to be a Vegas club - not a restaurant. I went with a group of young people and they all complained about the volume of music. You could not talk to anyone at your own table. The "entertainment" on a Saturday night was few and far between. Food was okay. They also allowed a homeless person into the restaurant. A waitress spoke to the man and then watched him try to clear our plates full of food off our table, touching everything. The restaurant did nothing to fix the situation other than a quick "sorry."

Ryan R.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant! Food, drinks and service were top notch, not to mention the prices. There is nowhere else in Laguna Beach where you can get such quality at that price level. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience!

Guy S.

Yelp
This "new" Peruvian restaurant is where Sueños was last year. They basically kept the same ambiance/design as Sueños. Service is very attentive and all the staff were friendly. The menu is limited, probably to ease the opening "wrinkles". We sat in the patio next to the flowing fountain...nice. We asked for sparkling water, but they don't carry any, so they brought us carbonated soda water from the bar gun [at no charge, nice]. We had the arroz con mariscos [which is somewhat like a paella] and the ceviche. Both dishes had sea bass as the fish of the day. The fish was fresh and we enjoyed both dishes. We liked that the tortilla chips were crispy fresh and not greasy. We were celebrating our anniversary and they offered a free dessert. We had the chocolate bread pudding which was served with a large burning firework on top [fire dept. approved?] which was an impressive moment! However one bite of the dessert we both noticed a chemical taste and didn't eat it. Ah well, it's the thought that counts. Once they get through the first weeks jitters, we may return to try some other dishes.

Tala T.

Yelp
Amazing place and amazing food we loved it. Great ambiance and customer service. Definitely recommend it

Paulina R.

Yelp
Let me start of with the food, we had a party of 4 and we all had different dishes. They were all 10/10 the quality of food was amazing, the flavor omg presentation I mean the deal. The drinks also very tasty! I highly recommend this place it has a great ambiance. Will definitely be back!

Don M.

Yelp
Heard about this place from a neighbor. My daughter turned 21 so we went down after dinner for a drink and was not disappointed. Good entertainment attentive, nice , friendly service. Did not get a chance to eat but the drinks and atmosphere were awesome.

Carly C.

Yelp
Went on a Thursday night with friends. It wasn't busy at all. I believe there was a wine tasting event on the patio. Service was good and all the staff were friendly. The food was not good, extremely bland. Maybe go back on a weekend for drinks and the show. Will have dinner elsewhere.

Val I.

Yelp
I celebrated my 40th birthday. It was great everyone was super friendly and the restaurant is gorgeous. such a romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend

Debra T.

Yelp
Just dined at Cabana Restaurant in Laguna Beach. The food was amazing, along with the ambiance. The al pastor and shrimp tacos were fantastic with homemade blue corn tortillas. We will definitely be back!

Tiffany R.

Yelp
Krystal was phenomenal as the bartender when I was there last. Such a kind smile and kind soul. Excellent service, she recommended the best plates from the menu and we were not disappointed. A total girl's girl, IYKYK ! 10/10 ask for Krystal next time you're at the bar

Rodrigo R.

Yelp
We had a reservation for 6 pm , we arrived on time, they restaurant was at 30% capacity and got a really bad table, we asked if we could move, they said all the other tables were reserved but by the time we left, close to 8 pm, they were all still empty. Took them more than 20 minutes to serve our cocktails, we were watching the two bar tenders dry glasses and move things around in the bar, but neither of them working in our drinks for 20 minutes. The ceviche wasn't good, two starters arrived after the entrees. The most dissatisfying and disappointing part was the issue with the table, because they did have the whole 2 hours we were there empty better tables available.

Dino (like a dinosaur) is the best, and I love him, and I don't want anyone to ever be mad at him. In fact, I want Dino to have the best life ever. Please give Dino all the things he ever wants. His tattoos are fucking sick.
