San Diego’s Most Beautiful Restaurants of 2017 - Eater San Diego

"Calling upon a 19th century Parisian salon, it’s a speakeasy hidden behind Tacos Libertad and accessed via a faux door disguised as a commercial restaurant walk-in freezer. With the interior designed by Philippe Beltran, the sophisticated and intimate cocktail den is a hidden world detailed with vintage chandeliers that hang from white-washed exposed beams, a bright Toulouse Lautrec-era hand painted mural, antique velum document-lined walls, plush furnishings and living trees." - Jackie Bryant

An unexpected surprise hidden behind the taqueria through the freezer door. The decor is warm, inviting, and trendy. The bartenders are chill and helpful. This speak-easy just has a really good vibe.

A great little speakeasy in Hillcrest, tucked behind a very tasty taco shop! Their absinthe selection is phenomenal and they know what they're doing with their cocktails! It's not too expensive, and you can leave, order tacos, and get them delivered to your table! What else could you need? I do wish they had a spicier cocktail, because the one I was told was spicy I think just had cracked black pepper on it, but that's not enough of an issue to dock a star!

Superb speak easy, tucked away inside Tacos Liberitad. Just go all the way to the back and through the large metal fridge door. Really large space with just the most unique cocktails, wine and beer.

Great little speakeasy with an open airy feel to it. Drinks were on point and service was excellent!

Great cocktails and very friendly service. Prices are also great (just about every cocktail was $10 or under for good quality alcohol).

I absolutely love this place! It's so pretty inside and so different. This is the second time around that I have visited, I didn't have as a great experience as the first time but I think it had to do with the servers that were there last night. Drinks were still tasting good BUT the first time I went a very tall slim male helped me and my girlfriends out and he was the best! He made recommendations and knew his drinks very well.

Most of the cocktails are pretty amazing, tho I had one I didn't think was all that great. They are also priced very reasonably for top of the line product. The entry procedure is fun, and not too well hidden. The decor is very well done and fun. The only small quibbles I have are not having an integrated way to pay for food from the restaurant in front while having a card held in back for a bar tab, and seating/places to set food plates could be a bit better. Those are pretty minor quibbles tho. All in all a pretty cool place, and very good for b-day celebration..

This hidden gem, located in the back of Libertad Tacos and accessed through a large walk-in freezer door, is utterly charming and quite cozy. The lighting, mood and crowd are all pleasing and well matched by the inventive and playful craft cocktail offerings. The Sage Advice in particular is worth the trip. Order tacos on your way through Libertad and they'll bring them right to you. This is an excellent spot to impress a date with your taste and insider knowledge!
