Cactus Mexican Grill

Pros: chips and salsa are good. They have the best chicken fajitas in Lafayette. It’s not usually busy. Cons: the service is alright but the servers are generally friendly Overall a good experience here

Y'all the Cactus Mexican Grill isn't fancy. It's most definitely not bougie. But their birria tacos are absolutely FANTASTIC! Check em out! The and hot sauce is slappin! Cactus Mexican Grill is located at 2633 SE Evangeline Thruway, Lafayette, LA 70508.

Delicious and fresh! We ordered the lunch fajita chicken taco salad and the ground meat chimichanga. They were both amazing, as well as the rice and beans. We were served a little bowl of black beans with our chips and salsa, and that was really good too. I'm not really a fan of guacamole, but I would definitely order it here. It had a really good flavor, and the consistency was on point. Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I love this place. One of our top favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is always fresh. And the chips and salsa with hot bean dip is magnificent. The service is always very good here. And Javier is very sweet he gives top notch service.

We'd driven by Cactus often and always wanted to go and finally took the opportunity, and it was great! The food was so delicious, everyone was so nice (they even put Monday night football on for us), and the atmosphere was authentic and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

Food is great as usual. The service is consistently outstanding and best of all, the drinks. 😁 The best drinks specials of any restaurant in Lafayette as far as I'm concerned. It's one of my favorite places to eat. Highly recommended.

Thumbs up! We joke about stopping by bc we pass by this place so many times and we finally did. We were the only ones there. Service was a bit slow. Dining room & restroom clean. Steak quesadillas and steak enchilada was nice and flavorful. Bean dip good. Salsa thin and spicy. I'd say it was a decent stop. The menu was very fun to read and figure out.

I'm calling it right now. I give this place six more months tops. Terrible location, mediocre food, impatient service. Nope. We were rushed out even though it was early and the place was so empty I heard crickets chirping. Do not waste your time or money here. PERIOD. Okaayy?

Well what a great surprise for lunch, we arrived right before the crowd and was treated to service with perfection. The tortilla chips were crisp, and the bean dip a new experience and flavor that was a hit, so not sleep on the salsa either, one of the better we've had. The tacos was great, crunchy, with lettuce and cheese, but the star was the enchiladas with the red sauce, wow what a deep delicious flavor, very tasty. Do also try the enchiladas with the cheese sauce with the beef on top, it goes very well with the lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream was spot on. Ask for onions and cilantro. Will definitely return.

CAme for a lunch date with my 3 year old daughter. Food was quick and super fresh! I had the fajita nachos that was cooked perfectly! Added some grilled jalapeños for added heat which is always good! My princess had a child's quesadilla with rice. It was a huge portion with plenty to bring home for dinner. Food and service was perfect! I remember this place being a bombass seafood restaurant growing up. 'Evangeline steakhouse and seafood' It still has the same chairs but the decor makes you feel like you are in a Mexican village. We will def be back!

UGH! NOTHING AUTHENTIC. Tastes terrible. Chicken? Could not tell. Beef? Oh boy inedible! Pico de gallo - not even close. Refried beans from a can.guacamole bitter. Never again. Beef was tiny bits on tacquito & they do not know what tacquito should be. Shameful

The first (and only) good Tex mex we have found in Lafayette! Coming from NC, I'm surprised how bad and overpriced the local tex mex is here, considering how close we are to Mexico. Cactus had good prices and really good food. We will be back! Skip Hacienda, El Paso, La Pagua, Pedro's, etc... they're all way overpriced and mediocre. Cactus for the win!

First off we were headed to another restaurant, saw this place on the side of the highway and said what the hell. To start off the service was fast, polite, and accurate. Margaritas hit the spot with 2 for 1 and made perfect. Granddaughter had the kids fajitas, and loved them, the crawfish enchiladas were good but not as good as our old place in Raceland, the chili replenished hit the spot and were great. Will definitely come back when in the area and feel like Mexican food Only gave 4 stars, because no one is perfect, lol

Kinda a Hole in the wall place. But man these ppl are great. It's got some of the best fajitas in town. As well as the best tortillas. Chips n salsa is more on the cheap side but it's grown on me actually, it taste good it's just sweet but it's a great place with real Mexican vibes and drinks. It's a place kids would have the most fun at I believe.

The Pollo Loco and the queso are so good. I ordered both on Waitr and got $5 off using code Local5!

We went for the Sunday Special which was carnitas. They were cooked right, slow roasted. Served with beans, rice & guacamole. We asked for limes to go with it. The building was clean and the waitress was attentive. Plan to go back & try the Margarita special on Sunday.

Oh my guacamole! This place was fantastic. Other than the very green exterior, it's not a showy place. This is very much a neighborhood restaurant. The food though was stellar. The prices were extremely fair. The wait staff was polite and attentive. I got a half order of the Cactus Nachos. This could have easily been 2 meals. From what I could tell and taste, it seems like everything is made on site. If you get the chance to go, take it.

Great service, great food. Prices were even better. Margaritas could use a little love but you can put tequila in just about anything and it'll be good.

This my second time here in 2 weeks. Excellent food, margaritas, and service. The owners even came by our table to welcome us and make sure we were pleased with our food and service. Our server was very attentive.

My hubby & I decided to try this place because was a brand new place. We were craving tacos so that's what we looked for on the menu. They only had tacos on the A La Carte menu, hubby ordered 3 soft chicken tacos & beans & rice. He got 3 hard chicken tacos. Of course this was after our waiter took my order and proceeded to walk away without taking my hubbys order, we literally had to call him back to get his order... I ordered 3 hard tacos & a quesadilla with no guacamole. I got my tacos and there was guacamole on my quesadilla. The beans & rice was luke warm, the meat on both of our tacos was barely warm. The best thing we got was the quesadilla and it wasn't even cut... Then they brought us our check they didn't label all the charges on the hand written ticket & after he charged our card came back to explain that they charged us more because the waiter didn't put the cost my drink on the original check.
