A Guide to Dining, Drinking, and Shopping During Detroit’s 2023 Holiday Markets | Eater Detroit

"A seasonal holiday market and lodge operating through early January with more than 20 local retailers selling apparel, home decor, wellness and beauty products, and a variety of food and beverage vendors; offerings include specialty cooking essentials from a Corktown vendor, charcuterie gift boards, an Ethiopian pop-up selling roasted coffee and gift baskets, a waffle food truck, and a cake-supply and studio vendor. The market runs midweek to weekend with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays." - Serena Maria Daniels

Detroit Restaurant and Bar Pop-Ups, Winter 2018 | Eater Detroit

"A seasonal restaurant-and-bar installation in Cadillac Square with a menu reboot by a guest chef; offerings skew toward communal, comfort-food fare such as Detroit-style chili and soft pretzels with beer cheese, plus casual seating and games like giant Jenga to create a relaxed, social atmosphere." - Brenna Houck

The heated tent was such a nice setup. Perfect for families, couples, friends, really anyone. We went on a Friday and waited over 30 minutes to get seated, so I can only imagine how busy it gets on weekends. There are cute little shops outside if you’re in the mood to browse or do a bit of shopping. Nice food & drink options, my toddler loved her grilled sandwich, the hot cocoa was so warm and comforting. If you want something sweet and tasty, do try the cheesecakes, they were really good!

Google
Was nice to visit those small tiny stores. And also. That atmosphere so cozy and warm. Is so good for hangout or date spot ! Nice winter cocktails! Especially Gingerbread coffee and Partridge pear tree cocktail in one of the pictures you can see

Google
It has easily become one of my favorite holiday time traditions to visit Cadillac Lodge, which gives the ultimate log cabin feels! The cozy couches, tasty seasonal cocktails, Jenga, and the festive lights and decor make this the perfect place to spend some quality time while in Campus Martius. There can be a wait to get in, but it usually goes quickly and is totally worth it!

Google
Cute winter tent and pop up shops in downtown Detroit during the holiday time. Nice place to get hot coco or a treat with family or friends. It does get pretty warm in the tent area with the heaters.

Google
An absolute MUST DO when visiting Detroit over the holidays! Such a unique experience with warm and cozy vibes. I've been taking my fiance who's originally not from the area, to several Detroit holiday hot spots and he said this was one of his favorite experiences. We didn't try any of the food, but did order a couple of cocktails. I ordered the hot cider which was good, and we both tried the Motown Mules which were fantastic. I can't remember the name of the other drink my fiance ordered, something with coffee and whiskey, but he enjoyed it thoroughly. The main attraction is the setting and decor though. It's very unique, and instantly put us in the Christmas spirit.

Google
Cute and cozy not enough seating and people stay seated for hours so you find yourself standing and it’s crowded, but you can get drinks or hot chocolate however you can NOT take it with you even if it’s non alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere looks cool though..

Google
Beautifully decorated but the music was super loud to the point you couldn't hear anyone that well and I ended up leaving with a headache. Great to get out of the rain and cold though. The food was beyond average. $8.95 including tip for a hotdog that was super bland. I loved watching the artist draw ppl.

Google
It is so charming inside and I was so happy I finally got to visit. There is a decent amount of seating, but there is still a good chance you will need to wait for seating. It may also be hard to find seating together if you are a larger group. Food/drink pricing was average for that type of venue.

Yelp
Young gentlemen name Marcus is managing this place like a "Super Star". Well spoken, aim to meet your needs, knowledgeable and good recommendations. Plus, warm smile. pleasant atmosphere. "Sugar Fox" visit.

Yelp
The Cadillac Lodge is your one stop shop for all things COZY! After walking around downtown, stop HERE to warm up by the fire place, relax on some of the comfiest couches & indulge in the small winter menu that the lodge offers! There are snacks & holiday drinks available. Both warm & cold options for beverages. Endless cozy corners and tons of places for family photo ops. The vibes are immaculate and the service always comes with a smile from the employees! There are small games spread out on the tables and Christmas decorations galore! Make sure to stop by this holiday season to check this Lodge out, you won't regret it!

Yelp
I've come to the Cadillac Lodge every holiday season for the past several years and each time I think I get a little bit more disappointed. First off, the decor remains the same each year, so it's just become a bit monotonous after a few years. Secondly, they have a capacity limit so if they're at capacity, you will be waiting outside for others to leave before you go in, which in and of itself is fine. My gripe is more with the fact that when you go in, the lodge is so packed, it's hard to find seating and incredibly overwhelming. I would recommend either more seating or set your capacity limit lower. I know this would mean probably a longer line during the busy times, but I think it would make for an overall better, more enjoyable experience for all once they get inside, making it overall more worth it. Just a suggestion! The couches and fun patio furniture are all super high quality and cozy. The food and drink selection is limited and overpriced, which is the other downside. I got a hot cider, my friends shared one of their alcoholic bevvies, but for the most part nothing else on their menu appealed to us, and I would honestly recommend you to just get a nice meal nearby as there are so many options in the area, ranging from fast casual all the way to fine dining. It's also important to note that you can take any of your drinks outside of the lodge. Alcoholic beverages, I can understand. But mine was a non-alcoholic hot cider and already in a to-go coffee cup and I wished there could be a distinction between the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as that it just a bizarre rule for the non-alcoholic ones when I would've really have liked to carry around a hot cider to warm my hands up while I was walking around Detroit. What might've been most mystifying were their list of holiday-themed shots! All of the names of the shots evoked a certain image of what might go into it, and it was always wildly different. For example, they had a shot called "Grinch Green Tea," but the ingredients in it were whiskey, peach schnapps, sour, and Sprite. Where's the tea?? Where's the green?? I'm confused lol. Overall, if you're in Cadillac Square checking out the shops, which is something I highly recommend, and even popping over to the Monroe Street Midway across from the square and need a place to duck into to warm up and get a bit of holiday cheer, I would recommend coming here. But I wouldn't recommend getting any of the food or honestly staying for all that long, because there is just a ton of other exciting things to be doing during the holiday season in downtown Detroit!

Yelp
Went the day after Thanksgiving early afternoon and it was cute! Pretty busy though such that there was a line to enter (though it moved fast as there was also pretty much a constant flow of people leaving). It's at the end of the Cadillac holiday shops which have a nice selection of local goods. Fun to browse but can be hectic if it's busy since each shop is so tiny. The Lodge is a nice option for a tented place to warm up in the area. Food and drinks are a bit pricey (hot cocoa starting at $7) and nothing really special. I personally wouldn't plan to do a meal here. Less seating than there are people in the lodge, but with the turnover it wasn't too hard for us to find a spot to sit and sip our hot cocoas and ciders. The holiday decor is really cute. I don't think the lodge itself had bathrooms, but there were porta potties in the area. Not allowed to carry any drinks out (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

Yelp
We love Cadillac Lodge! Whether we stop in for a hot cocoa, or to relax in the cozy couches and warm up, this place is the perfect addition to Cadillac Square. The ambiance is so perfect. It's the best back drop in any photo op! You must come here on a date, or bring the family! It's perfect for all ages.

Yelp
We were here to check it out during the winter before Covid. It has this fantastically warm feel, like the lodge it is. It's the most ideal to go during the holiday season and the ice rink at Campus Martius Park. Parking can be a challenge to get a decent spot nearby. I would recommend downloading the Detroit park, makes parking in Detroit much better. The interior is an enclosed clear tent. You would never know it once you are inside that it's a tent at all. The winter decor is so warm and inviting and cosy. It's a nice little sanctuary from the chill of the cold after skating on the Campus Martius rink or walking through the downtown markets at Cadillac Square.

Yelp
Cadillac lodge is a cozy indoor outdoor lodge in downtown Detroit. It's got fantastic music, great couches and fires, and reasonably priced drinks and food. $7-$13 per drink. service is quick and everything is pretty clean. Took about 5 mins to get a drink

Yelp
I love to visit Cadillac Lodge when I visit Detroit in December. It puts me in the holiday mood. It's a cozy lodge near other festivities like a holiday market, giant tree and skating. It gets busy, so you may need to wait but the line for drinks moved quickly. I can't wait to go back again next year.

Yelp
I'm getting old. The price of Beer, it wasn't cheap. It was a nice atmosphere, my second year coming here for one night of the Christmas Season to see the tree. $8 for a 16oz Bud Light. The was the low end. It was warm in there, plenty of Tables out in the plastic tent. I've never been in the business itself, just the Christmas Tent.

Yelp
Every holiday season the Cadillac Lodge pops up in downtown Detroit. Located next to Campus Martius makes it the perfect Christmas season hangout. Typically I stop in this charming location a couple times a season. The little pop up shops leading up to the Lodge are a nice touch as well. Very unique Christmas season shops to get us primed for our holiday shopping. The design and style inside is truly over the top Aspen ski lodge themed but so much more. Plenty of custom chairs and couches to relax at. Games on the tables for the adults and kids to enjoy. The bar is top shelf and they have all the holiday cheer to warm you up with the craft drinks. The outside of the lodge has seating and another bar area with fire pits to keep you and the family warm while enjoying the fresh cold air. It's a seasonal must that will bring you and your family joy as well. Just give em a try and you be glad you did.

Yelp
Ahh! Adorable pop up right in the heart of the holiday center of Detroit--Campus Martius. It's chock full of sweet little seating areas decorated with ski lodge flair. It's completely cozy and the perfect place to take out of town guests or celebrate some holiday fun with friends and family. There are signature seasonal cocktails and a menu of comfort food bites like chili and It gets super crowded on the weekends but on a weekday it's easy to get a table, although they close earlier on Wednesdays and Thursday (9pm and 10pm respectively) so prepare for that. They're also only open through the end of January, but it does chill out significantly after the new year so it's easier to get in there and enjoy a longer visit then.

Yelp
Every year, Cadillac Lodge has been such a joy to see! This year seemed to be a little more sparse, less blankets and pillows, but still warm, cozy, and enjoyable. My family has stopped by three times this year already. Grab some grub from Waffle Cabin or other food vendors nearby. Drinks inside are hot and delicious! The big table games are tons of fun for kids. Someone (a magical elf who just appeared out of nowhere) even came by to offer my children coloring packets and crayons while we waited for a game. There was a DJ at some point and I bet they have other events. Cross off the remainder of your nice list by finishing up your holiday shopping at the pop ups right outside the door. While there are fireplaces and it's cozy, dress warm. You may still want that coat and hat while you sit

Yelp
Can't wait to come back this year! I moved in 2022 and got to go here and it was so cute, drinks were solid! Very festive and right next to campus Martius and cute local shops se yup in small glass cottages.

Yelp
Detroit does a lot of cool things - this is a great example of taking some open space downtown, and building a winter lodge, that's fun fur adults, serving alcohol, but also family friendly with games also. We were there with the kids around 7pm and it was crowded with a ton of people all having a fun time.

Yelp
4 for the atmosphere and ambience! It's so amazing! It's so warm and cozy after a cold winters outdoors day snuggling by a fireplace in a ski lodge. So cute, pretty and everything I want to be starting at on a perfect winters date The dj was also rad good. Me and my fiancé were dancing away to the grooves of this guy. He was so good at his song choices and transitions 1 -2 for the drinks as they were honestly not good and mighty I add expensive. Do not I repeat do not get the Manhattan. It was the worst one I've had... meaning it didn't really taste like one. I've had manhattans before where I was like it's ok but this was a definite new low. The apple cider here was not bad but I quickly started understanding why there were more canned drinks than cocktails in other people's hands... Get a pour of something meaning wine or beer NOT cocktails. Otherwise it is a cute date place. I would recommend for a winters night for a couple hoping to spice up some romance or a blossoming new one :)

Yelp
Long line to get in and then more lines inside. No way to know in advance what they have to offer for food and drinks. Not much on the of food. Too warm just side. Generally unimpressed

Yelp
I was here in 1/3 of the space for a yelp event, which I also rated here on the site. I moved out to the general area after. This is a pop up space in the square, think of a green house structure, with a bathroom trailer behind. There was a long bar on one wall, and a bunch of seating areas grouped on the other wall sort of like living rooms with fake fireplaces and mantles--cool looking. The mixed drinks were pushed from sixer kegs through beer taps, which didn't help the taste of one of them at all. Pretty standard Detroit area small beer list. The staff was nice. The biggest issue was the bathroom trailer (the fancy kind that looked nice) really smelled.

Yelp
Such a beautiful pop up. If this place doesn't put you in the Holiday spirit I don't know what will. Beautifully lit with Christmas music at just the right volume so that you can still carry a conversation. Cozy fireplaces with comfy chairs, and who can resist an adult hot chocolate. I highly recommend grabbing a Santas little helper at the bar. Make sure you keep all alcohol inside though. The nice officer at the exit will remind you too.

Yelp
Date night in Detroit and decided to check out Cadillac Lodge after dinner. We arrived around 8:30pm and were pleasantly surprised it wasn't packed yet. We walked right up to the bar then found an open comfy couch. We played a game of scrabble and enjoyed the quirky atmosphere. We saw people of all ages, even families with small children. The games and cozy furniture along with adorable decor made for a fun place for a nightcap. It didn't get super busy until around 9pm.

Yelp
1 Star Cadillac lounge Manhattan!! Please for the love of all that is good. Do not order the Manhattan. I'm forcing myself to drink this because I just paid $10 for it. But it is terrible. I thought I've had OK manhattans in the past but I now realize they were excellent. Because this is a new low for Manhattans. Please please save yourself and do not order the Manhattan. The hot dragon Apple cider wasn't bad. UPDATE Please go next door to whiskey parkour and get yourself a proper drink. I'm sipping on a brandaye (you're a fine gurl) and loving it 4.5 stars for ambience and the DJ was excellent. My second time coming here. There's a lot of people that bring their kids and there's non alcoholic drinks, board games, giant jenga, and magnetic scrabble! Cool hang out spot or date spot. But it is kind of loud be warned!
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
A heated tent, but definitely more like a cozy lodge right in the middle of the city! Definitely a great idea. Giving that desirable winter cabin get away feel. Comfy couches and throws. If you want the "At Home" feel but also want to get out of the house, this is your place. Perfect gathering place for friends, games, drinks and food, with all the comfortable at home aspects.
google avatar

Debankan C.

Yelp
Great spot to hang around! Drink choices are limited but this place is more for the ambience (which is absolutely amazing!) than anything else. They don't serve any snack/bar food either. So come with your friends & family, grab a couple drinks, sit around on the couch, get a couple rounds of Jenga..and then head out to one of several dining options in the area. Overall, great hangout with friends or family. Highly recommended!

Bob A.

Yelp
My brothers their wives and I took my mom to Cadillac Lodge after dinner for her 87th birthday. She loved it the minute she walked in as did the rest of the family. The staff was great, drinks were fabulous, and the atmosphere was so festive. Everyone was having a good time and the decor with its leather couches, comfy big chairs, fireplaces, and Christmas trees put smiles on everyone's faces. The drink menu is very creative along with a variety of beers, and the drinks are delicious from the Mistletoe Margarita to the Bad Santa. Truely a fun place to sit with family friends during the holidays and taken in the City's Christmas tree.

Yelp
This place is super cute, cool atmosphere, nice area to go after downtown activities. Beer pricing was defiantly on the high end for not many selections. Staff was RUDE and horrible to our group. We had a gentleman in our group that had brace on his leg that needed to sit and doesn't allow him to bend it. The area i made up of cozy little sections to sit, tables etc. We sat in area that was clearly for patrons with decorations but happened to be in between two of the bars. Staff as running between two bar's with items ice etc, and kept snarling at us and making pissy comments about where we were sitting, calling it their "barback". It was clearly an area for customers. they were running in between us so much we were starting to move to another area, the guy with us that had the injury was staying seated as we were finding a new area and one of the bartenders kinda of hit his foot walking by, the bartender (with a ponytail) got really pissed asked him not to put out to trip him. He explained he was in a brace and had to keep his leg straight but moved it to the side the best he could. The bartender walked by again and his time purposely ran into his leg and then freaked out on us that we needed to be kicked out and we were taking up their barback area and purposely trying to hurt his staff, when he actually hurt the person already with the injury. We confronted security telling them if that is an area for staff to run through they should mark it off so people don't sit there, we also asked if where we sat was an area for patrons to sit and they said yes we were fine, and then bartender got even more mad at us for talking to security and came screaming and swearing at us to get out. We chose to leave on our own.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to go during the winter. When I'm not feeling the big evening of going out, coming here with a group of friends and just hanging out is great. They have a few bird games to play and amazing drinks. It's so pretty and festive. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Jenny F.

Yelp
It's been too crowded lately! Good for them for business, bad for people trying to find a place to sit! Great service, not a huge selection of liquor. Fun for a pre-dinner date!
google avatar

Zal J.

Yelp
Such a great seasonable place! Great ambience with great drinks too. The oversized board games are also really cute.

Yelp
Tina of room and great seating options. Have visited with my immediate and extended family and everyone enjoyed all the games and drinks available. My son and I especially enjoyed the s'mores stations!9

Yelp
Went the day it opened and wow the atmosphere drinks and food is amazing! Wish it was open yearly!

Noelle G.

Yelp
Love the idea of this place but brought my out-of-town family here after checking out the tree in Campus Martius on a Monday night between Christmas and New Year's and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was open given the pop-up shops are closed on Mondays. We were barely able to order our drinks (at $10 a piece) before being told the place was closing soon and we had to exit out the front like school children. The security was out of control and uncalled for, not to mention rude. Why even be open if you're going to shut down by 9pm on the holiday week for people coming downtown? Makes no sense.
