The Metro Detroit Brewery Discovery Tour continues. Friendly, quick, helpful staff. Tasty food and solid brews. One of the folks behind the bar brought me a menu before I could get the QR code scanned. I had seen the menu online and saw what appeared to be an actual Cuban sandwich on offer. I ordered it before the beer. Been a long time since I had a true Cuban and I was jonesing for one. This was about half-sized and needed pressing a bit longer to melt the cheese and get that crispness on the bread's surface but 4.5/5. Honestly, a full Cuban, at about 12" by 5" is a big meal and would've left little room for beer. The beer is solid, on style, delicious and of a fairly wide variety for 13 on tap. From a Mexican lager to BA barleywines. The feel is somewhere between neighborhood brewery and something bigger. The classic rock playing is loud enough to follow the lyrics but not get in the way Plenty of seating, inside and out, plenty of parking, all outside.

Google
Take your hubby to this brewery. Let me tell you why: the beer selection, while not huge, covers all the bases. And what we had was quite good. On top of that, if you’re not a traditional beer enthusiast, there are plenty of sours, seltzers and ciders. And those were amazing. An added bonus, they have food. Actual real food. They have entertainment most nights. Board games to pass the time. This place exceeded my expectations

Google
The beer is fantastic as is the hospitality. The food is excellent too. This spot is wonderful in every way. They also have a brewing supply store next door. They brew a variety of styles and every beer I’ve sampled has been very good. If you order food, the dill pickle pizza is especially tasty.

Google
Ones of the best MI breweries out there. Great little kitchen with unique offerings. Beer is always an A+. Homebrew/winemaking store attached is a huge bonus of you're into that. Samples parking, fully accessible and outstanding service. 10/10 highly recommend.

Google
Thank heavens for Cadillac Straits! We moved from Minneapolis, where apparently they decided to lead a monopoly on brew supply stores, to south-central Michigan and this is the only place we can find for brewing supplies! But, on top of that, they're a brew pub that serves some of the beer that you can buy kits for (which is super cool) and good food. Thumbs up on the Cubano and pretzel sticks - I just wish they offered a Fig Lebowski salad. Bur also... how can you not love a place that harkens to Mega Man for their fermenter names???

Google
I liked the atmosphere of this brewery and they featured live music (In a Jam from Dearborn, Ohio and they were great!), but some of the beers weren’t my favorite. I was a big fan of Tropicalia and Kermie’s Famous Tarte Ale. I also tried the Dill With It flatbread, which was good, but I got some ranch because it needed a cool aspect, in my opinion. Overall a good experience!

Google
Love the beer here and the strawberry rhubarb wine was so tasty. Had fun doing yoga here and meeting new people from the class with a glass afterward. Thankful to have this gem nearby!

Arlo Clark-Foos

Google
Soft opening when we went so only a few beers on tap. I enjoyed the tropical stout but the tropical part was a bit subtle. This brewery has a kitchen too with what should be some yummy food (was not open when we got there). They also intend to have ciders and possibly even a gluten reduced beer on tap (fingers crossed for this!!). The location is at the end of a nondescript strip mall and the brewery itself shares space with a homebrew supply store too.

Yelp
Amazing beer and good to go along with a great bartender's and wait too. Keep up the great effort and will be back soon!

Jim R.

Yelp
Late afternoon on a Saturday. Here is what we liked: * variety of seating available- sat at the bar. Had a great time- Bartender was attentive and good humorous. *Dont remember what they called it- fancy hot pocket thing with flaky crust and a broccoli cheese filling. Could eat these all day long! *Good beer What could better- * Had a good time- can't really think of anything.

Russ H.

Yelp
I can't speak to the taproom. This is for the brewing supply store attached to the taproom. If you homebrew, this is a great and welcome place. Everything from malt to hops to any gear you may need! The people manning it also really know their stuff. I am looking at getting back into homebrewing and they were more than happy to bring me up to speed on new things for the homebrewer.

Ed W.

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here. The staff is super friendly and make great suggestions for beer. The food menu isn't huge, but I've liked everything I've ordered so far. The pickle flatbread is surprisingly good. There are some board games for entertainment, plus a couple TVs. They also have outdoor seating, which is great in nice weather.

Yelp
Went in to check it out. Sat at the bar and shared a beer with my companion. It had hibiscus in it, and in a good way, not a punch you in the throat way. Spoke with some very knowledgeable beer makers/ beer people, and my companion drooled over their very cheesy menu (no vegan option). We will be back!

Frederick R.

Yelp
Tough Eddie is a fantastic IPA If you like IPA's please come here and try it ASAP Friendly staff, food menu if you get hungry and really tasty beers. Please check it out

Melissa M.

Yelp
I guess slight redemption is possible. My boyfriend likes this place and basically spends all his money at the homebrew store (kidding) so we come here a lot now. They seem to have gotten rid of the staff that straight up ignored me in 2022 which had me write them off. I do find that their beers are uncreative and they don't seem to actually know what a sour should taste like. It's still not my favorite but it's fine when stopping into the brew store.

Amy W.

Yelp
Black Friday is a day we both like to take off and chill. We don't usually go too hard core. Just a couple beers and enjoy each other's company. I have been wanting to check out Cadillac straights for quite some time. Since Covid, the hours of everything have changed. We like to start a bit on the early side and hop from place to place. It has been tough to get here since they don't open until 4. I needed this tag though and it was an easy stop on a chill day. It's funny that I used to live only a mile from here. Cadillac straights is a welcoming place. You feel comfortable in there. We headed to the bar. It was a fairly quiet day. The bartender helped us with our selections. We both ended up with the same thing: Mistakes were Made Vol. 6, Who Hired You? Well if that was a mistake, it was a delicious one! We both commented on the smoothness of this beer. We both enjoy a darker beer in the winter time and this was perfect! We could smell something delicious coming out of the kitchen, but we had just eaten so we didn't partake. We watched the end of the world cup game and headed out. I would absolutely come back! I really wish the hours were a bit earlier. I work in the area and would love to enjoy a cold beer and lunch when I'm done. But 4 pm is late for me. On the other hand, I just started coming here to get my CO2 refilled for my keg so it may be my excuse to come a little later and grab a beer.

Christina H.

Yelp
My husband and I came here and we are quite charmed. We ordered several beers and food. I had the Artichoke and Goat Cheese Salad and my husband had the Dill Puckle flatbread. Both came out beautifully. I also had a flight and it was delish. Our server was so nice and the crew were cheery. The place was packed, but not super loud, which we appreciated. Definitely will come back. Good work Gordie and Gary!

Nicole E.

Yelp
I remember this used to be a Chinese grocery store that moved north on John R. It's nice to see something else in its place and not sitting empty for decades. Gary answered the phone the other night to verify that they're open until 10 PM and that they have dining available at the Tap room. He seems warm and friendly too. It's game centric. Come for the beer. Ordered a basket of boneless wings (12 pcs) with Parmesan garlic, a fig Lebowski with chicken instead of bacon, an artichoke and goat cheese salad sans croutons and added grilled chicken. The boneless wings are mushy and odd, the chicken tastes like it's frozen and quite water logged perhaps? Need a better source of boneless wings for sure. The fig Lebowski with chicken flatbread was decent. The fig spread makes for an interesting pizza, chicken was a good protein substitute for bacon and the balsamic gives the pizza a bit is tang too. The cheese melt is just enough and not too heavy or too cheesy on the flatbread as well. The artichoke, goat cheese, zesty peppadew peppers, goat cheese and mixed greens aren't bad either. Nice blend and mix of items. Good service tonight from Keith. He's cool.

Becca W.

Yelp
I drive past here all the time and was intrigued and I was so happily surprised when I finally decided to stop in! The beer is great and they have a huge selection. My absolute favorite thing is their dill pickle pizza. Oh my gosh it's so good.

Liz P.

Yelp
Just okay, although some of the food was really good. I had won a $50 gift card from Madison Heights Restaurant Week, so we checked it out for dinner today. They had a very small outdoor patio area, it was basically just a few tables that they had put outdoors, literally next to the parking lot, as the restaurant is in a plaza. My boyfriend ordered the Tough Eddie (IPA) and I tried a small size of their cream ale. I'm not a big beer person so I didn't really like it; my boyfriend liked his beer though. We got the soft pretzel sticks which were very good, and come with beer cheese and your choice of stone-ground or yellow mustard. We also got the cheese curds which were just okay (Culver's are better) although the (homemade, I believe) marinara dipping sauce was good. There was a snafu with our pizzas - we ordered the Fig Lebowski and the dill pickle pizza, and received a BBQ chicken pizza instead of dill pickle. They brought us the dill pickle pizza about 10 minutes later ... I noticed they just left our BBQ chicken one by the bar, which was random. I have tried dill pickle pizza before at a pizza rally thing at Eastern Market and I liked that one better than this one. The Fig Lebowski pizza was delicious though - it was very sweet. Both of the pizzas were flatbread pizzas and probably just good for about one person. My boyfriend also ordered another beer before we left but he didn't like that one as much, I forget the name but it was served in a snifter of sorts. Service was okay... They came to see us when they brought us dishes and asked if we wanted anything else or needed anything, but they didn't ever come over just to see if we needed anything. Also the pizzas came out really fast after the appetizers, so the pacing wasn't that great. Overall my favorite dishes here were the Fig Lebowski pizza and the soft pretzels. Both were very good but unfortunately not enough to bring me back, most likely, since Troy and the surrounding areas have so many good pizza places.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love the beer, and service is fast and friendly. We come here often, as it's close to home and always a good time. Marie attended to us quickly and offered a couple of recommendations and samples to help me decide on our recent visit. You can also "Beer it forward" to friends and family if you like which is super fun!

Gary B.

Yelp
New, clean, bright, trendy looking storefront in a stripmall off busy John R. On one side is a homebrew supply store, on the other are pub tables, a brewing area, and a bar. TV screen shows what is on tap. Limited pub type food menu. The staff was friendly and fast. The beer was terrible. I purchased three 4 oz samples of their different IPAs. All three were served at cellar temp, which is a choice they made, and were very under carbonated, which is not a choice- it is a big mistake. The first two IPAs were flat and slightly sour. The first is advertised as citra hops only, so either they really screwed up hopping, or the beer is infected. Since the second IPA also had the same harsh flat slightly sour taste, I suspect infection. I have no idea what the third (double) IPA tasted like, since it actually tasted like a flat porter.

Nancy S.

Yelp
I stopped by this place looking for a place to wait while my dog was at the Vet nearby. I don't normally drink beer, so I wasn't interested in the local brews. Kind of funny, I ordered a glass of wine just to pass the time at a microbrewery. I decided to order the Cubano sandwich and it was quite possibly the best sandwich I've ever had in my life! I liked it so much, I went back two hours later to take another one Togo on my way back to Rochester. I'd go back there just for the amazing food. When I complimented the staff, they said 'depends on who make it' so I'm hoping it's consistent.

Donna M.

Yelp
A favorite local brewery! Always has a good variety of beer and other drinks for the non beer drinkers. Small food menu but excellent every time. Brianna was very personable and attentive!

K L.

Yelp
I love this place. I'm not a huge beer drinker but there are always several that I like and the root beer is amazing. I'm sad they've discontinued food service, understand the space limitations. Endless food options when you bring your own. Last week we had a 20 person event in the side room and the service was phenomenal! We frequently bring friends and they have all had a great time. Can't recommend it more enthusiastically.

Lisa S.

Yelp
After driving by so many times, we finally popped into Cadillac Straits while out for a bike ride. My husband opted for cheese curds, which was one of the specials for the day. He said they were some of the best he's ever had! The fries were tasty too. We tried the Oktoberfest (MadisonBrau) and the Tough Eddie. The Tough Eddie, which is an IPA, was our favorite of the two. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Mj J.

Yelp
All I can say is Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!!!! You can't go wrong with the best beers in the area, trivia winners, and bbq chicken wings.

Anthony B.

Yelp
Came across this place just by driving by one day, so I came back in a Saturday night to check it out with a buddy. Now I know why they get such good reviews. The beer is actually good here, all made on site. It doesn't smell like a brewery, which some can. Place was busy for a Saturday; every table was just about taken, but we found a seat. Eventually they opened the overhead doors to the store next door and had a band. They were good but the best part is that they weren't loud and effect my conversation. The food was good. Had the fig flatbread, it was excellent!

Cris B.

Yelp
We were so excited to find this brewery while out and about! Sat at the bar - our favorite place! Stec, the bartender, took excellent care of us! We settled on the "Tough Eddie" an IPA which was unrivaled in taste. Supposedly modeled after Three Floyd's much sought Zombie Dust, I thought this was MUCH better! Not to mention Cadillac Straits lacks the arrogance of Three Floyd's, which I never appreciated. Nonetheless, this brew was delicious. We had to take a growler home. We chose a sandwich of equal deliciousness - DiLoreto Supremo. An Italian blend of meats on a roll served with homemade chips. Mmm. Good brew, food, service. Cannot go wrong with this place! Sit with Stec at the bar! He's the best!

Eileen R.

Yelp
Cute microbrewery. Located in a strip mall and quite unassuming from the outside but once you step inside you forget you are in a strip mall immediately. They had about 12 or so beers on tap and they also serve food. Attached to a merch and brewing supply store also. We left as a band was setting up for live music sadly but it was hopping in there! The bartender was nice and after we told him we were doing a lil brewery hop in the area he offered other suggestions which was nice. We got 4 tasters to try... no flight boards which was odd but the lil glassware was branded and great quality. All the beers were sold but I loved the evil penguin black DIPA. Soooo good. Pretty solid and consistent beers.. the brewery equipment was right behind us as we sat at the bar. For sure worth stopping on! Cheers

Joe M.

Yelp
Solid beer and sandwiches, friendly waitstaff! Good variety of styles - something for everyone.

Danielle T.

Yelp
We had a very enjoyable experience with the chill and inviting atmosphere! Only had 6 beers on tap but I'm guessing this is associated with being new.. But for none beer lovers they did Sangria! I will say for a brewery they had a solid menu also! My friend got a sandwich and it looked delicious! Will be back soon to get more beers!

Joe F.

Yelp
Terrible service. Definitely will not be back. If you would like a good brewery around Cadillac Straits, go to Kuhnhenns instead.

Lindsey W.

Yelp
I can't even begin to explain how bad service is at this place. I'm all about breweries and small businesses but we waited over 2 hours for food on a Saturday at 1pm. We kept asking if our food was going to be out soon and the bartender kept saying "yes, I'm sorry we just have this baby shower that just ordered food so yours will come out after." Not to mention there were 2 people serving/ pouring beers for the entire brewery and baby shower. I mean come on, 2 hours for food when it wasn't even closed to packed. I am a very patient and understanding person but when our chips and salsa couldn't even make it out 30 minutes after we ordered, even an hour after we ordered, that's bull shit in my opinion. I will always find a beer to drink even though they are not my favorite because almost every beer is over 6% ibu, the bartender that they had didn't even know how to pour a beer. When there is over a 3" head on my beer, that is completely unacceptable. I would have been better serving and making my own beer/food at this point. I will never come back to this place and it's sad bc it's a block away from my house. The owner needs to get more staff and staff appropriately when you have a baby shower. This place is not equipped to handle a large crowd. I'm very dissatisfied. And this isn't the first time I've waited over 2 hours for food.

William G.

Yelp
If you want good beer, great service and some bar munchies to eat, this is the place. Dave was helpful in choosing our style of beer and walked us through the menu choices. Very good experience.

Aaron R.

Yelp
Our favorite brewery is our hometown brewery! The service, beer and food are great. They really have a passion for their craft and it shows. We've enjoyed it enough that we purchased Explorers Guild memberships (mugless club). Our favs: Flatbread pizzas, Bubba's Reuben, the hot pretzels, etc. Beer: Cumulus, Tough Eddie, Expecto Portornum and Harvest Cider. Service can't be better...Stec, Annie, Gary, Gordie, others are really great people. Can't wait to sit at the bar again!

Jessica N.

Yelp
Cadillac Straights is a new and first brewery in Madison Heights. They are located in a strip mall and offer beer, wine, mead, cider, and kombucha as well as a full food menu with salads, flatbread pizzas and sandwiches. There is also a homebrew supply store located inside Cadillac Straights selling home beer and wine making supplies. They have seating at a bar to the left and some square and rectangular high tops and a long lower table as well. They are a smaller space but they can accommodate larger groups because there were two large groups there when I went. The selection is fairly small. There were only six beers on tap, one cider and a sangria available. You can order a flight which comes with four beers and are priced individually at $2-$4 a piece, most around $2. You can also order 8 oz (around $4), 10 oz ($4-6), and 16 oz pours ($5-$6.50). Prices vary depending on the type of beer. I had a flight. I liked the Evil Penguin black IPA which was dark and hoppy but wasn't overly bitter and had some residual sweetness. I also had The Riding Lawnmower, a cream ale, and Madisonbrau, an Oktoberfest beer in my flights. Both were just ok, but nothing stood out about them and they weren't very memorable. I only had three in my flight because I wanted to order The Road Less Traveled oatmeal stout but it's not available in a flight and is only offered as a 10 oz pour. I ordered that as well and The Road Less Traveled, a full bodied stout, was my favorite of the beers I tried. It was good but still not amazing and nothing super memorable about it. For food, I ordered the Fig Lebowski flatbread pizza with fig jam, bacon, four cheeses, arugula and a balsamic drizzle. The flavors were great but it was pretty small and was more like an appetizer than a dinner. A few friends ordered sandwiches and they looked really good and I regretted not ordering one. The Cuban and chicken cordon bleu sandwiches looked awesome and next time I'll order one of those instead. Service was just ok. We weren't checked on very frequently and when we were our server only came to half the table. I had to hunt down a server to order a second beer and ask for some water. Overall, everything was average. Nothing blew me away as amazing. I'd return and further explore the menu but nothing I'm dreaming about or rushing back for.

Amy S.

Yelp
Have not tried any food here yet but every single beer I've had has been so so good. Joined the brewers club b/c the beer is amaze and it's so close to my house. Welcome to the Mad Heights - so glad the city has our 1st brewery!

Ben C.

Yelp
Tried a few beers the other day during a quick stop in. All the beers were decent. There were a couple that were very good. Overall, a fairly limited beer menu currently. I attribute this to being fairly new. The food menu looked really good and although we did not order food, what came out of the kitchen looked very good. I will be back to try the food and maybe by then they might have a few more beers on tap :-)

Adam S.

Yelp
Average at best unfortunately. The beers were all good, but each one was cloudy. Not a great presentation since none of them should be cloudy as defined by style guidelines. Service was... Odd. Nice, but awkward and didn't get our order right, plus the food came out cold. Coming from the east side, there's nothing compelling enough to make me want to make the trip back.

Sharon D.

Yelp
Came in to play trivia. Place was packed so we were anxious for a good time...good beer, good food and good fun! Well, the beer was very good and the service was friendly and nice. But, that's were the good ended. The trivia was on a very small screen that we could hardly see. Worst of all was the food...the wings were fatty and tasted very strange. Not sure if the meat was bad or if it was the Parmesan Garlic sauce. Horrible! Couldn't even eat them! Also had the dill pickle flatbread that wasn't terrible but not a fav.

Ryan G.

Yelp
Been here a number of times already and everything has been great. The rotating menu of beers on tap keeps me interested and trying new stuff. So far, the Magic Berries was my favorite, but I had an Odom's Eye last night and it was a perfect balance. I recommend the buffalo wings, and the Cubano sandwich. The pretzels with pub cheese are a must order though! Share them with the table.

Lylian D.

Yelp
Stopped here with my hubby after our Saturday lunch. We ordered a few 4 oz beers to try and ended up ordering a 16oz. I posted a picture of the beer menu Oct 2019, but I hear they change the menu often. I liked all the beers we tried, but my favorite was the Flower Power (hibiscus Wit). I thought their ocktoberfest was really good and my hubby liked that one alot along with their Scottish stout. We also sampled the blackberry wine and cider. Blackberry wine was a bit sweet for my taste but the cider is delicious! Not too sweet! We also had the pretzels to snack on and they were also good!

Eryn B.

Yelp
Ok. The beer is in really good. We split the fig flatbread which was delicious. Brownie desert fab. I recommend!

Dj G.

Yelp
Driven by here a dozen times not knowing it was a taproom with food. Sad..because we stopped in tonight with friends and small kids. The beer was really...really good. Great NE style IPA. Great Sour and their blonde was good too. Food was really good, we got a bunch of apps, sandwhich and some flat breads. AJ, our server...really could not have treated us any better. Patient, honest and he had the perfect balance of asking if we needed anything vs. someone who hovers too often. Just the right amount of hospitality and service. We'll be back, soon, with more friends...and this time, we'll pick up some merchandise. Really enjoyed our Friday Night. Thank you again, your team is doing in right!

Dushawn B.

Yelp
The place if very relaxing great food. I recommend coming here if you love breweries. I also love the name of their beers. Breathtaking atmosphere with caring and loving staff.

Mel O.

Yelp
Still in their "soft open" stage until July Thursday 18/Friday 19, 2019. There are currently 5 beers on tap and the release of many more for the Grand openimy. The kitchen is open. Definitly worth coming to check out this new local brewery!

Josh L.

Yelp
New to this area, and happy to have a local brewery nearby. Conveniently located with a large parking lot. Located next door to a home brewing store. Solid beer. I have had majority of them, and I'd say they are hitting on 75% of them. Board games available if you're with a group, and they have live music here and there. Food isn't bad, decent menu with flat breads and sandwiches. TVs with games on when applicable. Clean, lots of light, beer, mead and wine. Prices are what you would expect from a local brewery - $5-7 for a pint. While I like the beer, I keep coming back for the staff. Super friendly, chatty, fast service, informative and they encourage you to check out other nearby spots. All in all, a great spot to post up for a day or to swing in for a quick beer. Excited to see them grow and what else they got up their sleeve!

Mark T.

Yelp
I've been waiting patiently to try this new brewery. Came on a hot summer day to cool off with some brews. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I had the We Hopped the Wheat and it was yummy. Brian had the Bluegrass Hero. I took it after i tasted it. Sorry Brian I'm looking forward to trying the other beers on tap.

Paula W.

Yelp
This place is great! We went on Christmas after we came across their Instagram post about being open. Great atmosphere and great beer! I thought it was really sweet of the gentleman working to have some snacks for patrons since the kitchen was closed. The beer selection was great. We'll definitely be back.

Cody M.

Yelp
Awesome new craft beer and small plate restaraunt!! After trying a few of their beers I joined the mugless club! It is 100% worth it. Great spot for small get togethers or just a quick after work unwind! Very cool home brew shop attached if you're into making your own beer or wine. A much needed space for Madison heights!!

Michael S.

Yelp
I tried a flight of beers and tip totaling over 15 bucks??? I almost fell of my stool. I payed that much at founders for 4 bourbon barrel aged (flight) of beers which you guys done even come close to.

Tom F.

Yelp
Nice selection of their beers, i love the IPA's. My wife is not a beer drinker so she typically does not care for breweries but they have a wine selection that she enjoys. With a menu with munchies and good beer and wine, what possibly could go wrong.

Jaclyn C.

Yelp
Beer is tasty. Work going for the beers. Here's my list of what else they need: Coasters for the tables & to take home Should be handing out stickers on opening weekend Servers need to ask if you want Water too WiFi password for everyone Need Music playing in the background--too QUIET Plants by the windows

Laura B.

Yelp
I visited during their soft opening. The staff were friendly but still settling in and getting the hang of things, which is understandable. Several of their beers had already sold out but I was able to try six. Their semi-sweet cider ended up being my favorite, followed by the Grapefruit Affair pale ale. Unfortunately there weren't any dark beers on tap. They also have a homebrew store adjacent to the tap room. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and definition has potential!

J.J. G.

Yelp
Great place. Got some some beers and some pretzel appetizers. Bartender was very friendly.

Nicholas E.

Yelp
Found this place almost accidentally and really enjoyed our first visit. I had the lager and my wife had the hibiscus wit -- both solid if unspectacular. Also had the dill flatbread, which was quick, fresh and delicious. Service was fantastic. Cool little place with a great atmosphere. What a great find!
