The Best Food on New Orleans’s Canal Street | Eater New Orleans

"Enter Harrah’s from Canal Street and the one sure thing to expect is good eats. That door is the portal to not one but two great steakhouses, a noodle bar, a few cafes for a quick bite, an Acme Oyster House and a buffet, if that’s your jam. Gordon Biersch, a brew pub with straight ahead American fare and Grand Isle, a wonderful seafood restaurant, are also under the Harrah’s umbrella." - Beth D’Addono

The suite at Harrah's is HUGE and surpassed all of pur expectations. From Valet parking to check-in, everyone is exceptioally friendly and professional. Rooms are spotless. Property is beautiful. Casino gorgeous with plenty of food options. Take away, snacks and elegent sit down available. Short walk to River Walk and French Quarter. Simply fantastic!

Caesars New Orleans is great! The hotel rooms are very spacious and modern. The casino is big with lots of new slot machines, a great variety of games. The location is fantastic, you can go out one door and be at the Riverwalk and go out another door and be at the French Quarter. Shopping and Restaurants are all within walking distance. The aquarium is just across the street. The people are friendly. The service is excellent

Had a reservation at Caesars New Orleans. They were having plumbing issues, so I was moved to the upper floors Nobu Hotel. The whole Caesars/Nobu construction is incredible. Excellent customer service. They handled the hotel changes promptly and I'm looking forward to staying again in the future! Thanks for the Caesars team for making a great stay!

Google
Nice casino in a central location near the border walk downtown. Definitely a little bit to see in and around the area but...it is New Orleans so take that with a grain of salt I guess. Was there during the day for the WSOP which was ran well. Quiet during the day and things picked up in the evening. All in all solid experience would recommend

Google
Fun place, beautiful....slots are NOT programmed very loose, and table games are a touch to high compared to most other casinos across America. They have zero competition so I get why they have empty Craps tables($25) with 4 dealers looking snazzy and zero customers.

Had an amazing time at Caesars New Orleans! The casino has a great energy, plenty of games and tables to choose from, and the staff were welcoming and helpful throughout. The atmosphere is lively without feeling overwhelming, and everything is well run and professional. Perfect for a fun night out in the city — I’ll definitely be back!

NOLA is now one of my favorite places! The casino is smoke free, unless in the outdoor gaming section! Close to the best New Orleans restaurants! Easy to walk, rickshaw, or horse drawn carriage.

Google
First and foremost, what was known as the Harrah's is now called the Caesars - New Orleans and please make sure you know which hotel you are staying in because there are two very different and distinct entrances and you're almost made to feel like a peasant by the valets at the main Caesar's building if you're staying at what is still marginally called the Harrah's. It is very confusing but just know there are two very different locations. This place is on the corner of Poydras and Peters Street. The casino is no where near as nice as some Las Vegas casinos but that's not the reason you come to "The Big Easy" anyway so it's more of an observation than a criticism. The hotel is comfortable, although I was told by the woman at check in that I was to enter the elevator banks only on the right, which excluded one particular elevator, so I am not sure if that is the lift to heaven or what the reason was, but I didn't ask. I am certain there are upgraded rooms available but I did not bother with this option this time around. Valet parking here was fine and friendly and there were no issues during my visit. There are plenty of restaurants available both in the casino and within walking distance of the place and Bourbon Street was roughly 5 blocks away. The only things keeping this place from a 5 star rating is the rather confusing setup, the slightly rude valets at the main Caesars location (since it is shared location) and the fact that my "river view" room had only a very partial view of the Mississippi due to being on the south end of the tower, while the river was east of us. The overall value of the room was pretty good, other than the river view being less than what I expected. Special shout out to Kevian at the front desk who was amazing and went out of her way to help me with a minor issue. Kudos and thank you to her!

Yelp
I stayed at the Caesars Tower during my visit at New Orleans. It is very clean and beautiful inside. I checked-in at the Nobu desk (VIP) and was greeted by Mackee. She was incredibly nice and professional. First impression is everything and she met to my expectations. The casino was interesting. You have to have an ID to enter. They check for criminals, black-listed players, etc. You have to "Pass" in order to enter. Thank goodness I passed...LOL! The casino is well organized and spacious to maneuver. Love the high ceilings and NON SMOKING gambling. Interesting to note, if you are a smoker, they have a designated OUTSIDE smoking slots... LOL. Since I am a non-smoker, I was thrilled not smelling like smoke and inhaling it. A few notes: NO POOL! I think they will add in the future... who knows! Complimentary drinks, BUT you have to order it on the slots machine. UGH... a bit on the slow side... There's no buffet or 24-hour restaurants. There's only the high-end restaurants... and they don't take Caesars Rewards Credits. UGH! Thus, giving Caesars 4-stars. Great location! Walking distance to the French Quarters, Bourbon Street, Riverwalk Marketplace and much more! On a side note... since Caesars bought out Harrahs Towers, I heard it's old and run-down. BEWARE when you book your room. If you want luxury, stay at Caesar's Tower.

Yelp
Try letting people win a little. Even Las Vegas will tease you enough that $70 bucks isn't gone in 20 minutes. My aunt that wins in LV won't even waste a penny on the machines here. Too tight to be worth the effort. I even tried video poker. Total garbage. One pair is the best you can do on a $1 machine? What a waste of time. Kept the rest of my money. Consider my $70 a donation to greedy Vici Properties. This Vegas girl will take her cash back home to Las Vegas. Vici Properties can suck it.

Yelp
We stayed in the new Caesars tower. Brand new rooms that are nice. Didn't spend much time in them, but it was easy to come home late and sleep for a few hours! As for the actual casino it's nice too. They had plenty of dealers allowing for lots of table games. The beverage option from the slot machines was awesome! Press a button, pick your drink, watch the status updates as the drink is on the way, tip the server! Every dealer, bartender, servers, pit boss, and hand pay guys that I interacted with were so friendly. Awesome people! My only complaint would be the food options. I understand there is food everywhere in New Orleans, but at 3 o'clock in the morning when you're in the casino and don't want to leave, good food would be a fantastic find!!!

Yelp
This is a decent casino that's still working out the kinks from a rebrand of their little sister, Harrah's. Now she's growing up and getting a bit more elegance to her. The food court had some decent options with Bobby's Burgers and Pizza Cake from the Cake Boss himself. They also had a pho place that may only be open weekends. For better dining, there's an Emeril's restaurant and I'm sure it's great as most of his restaurants are. I'd pay just to lick his fingers! As far as Casinos go, it was ok. There was lots of empty space and depending on what's going on, it can be crazy busy or just mediocre busy. I'd imagine on football weekends and Mardi Gras are pretty crazy! It's not a reason to go to New Orleans by any means, but it's a great way to kill a few hours between eating and drinking all the good food in NOLA.

Yelp
We stayed in the Harrahs portion of the hotel, very nice hotel, has a smaller feel to it than the new tower. Rooms were very large with a huge bathroom and giant tub, great water pressure in the showers. The hotel people from the front desk to the Valet were just incredible. The beds and pillows were just dreamy, you could lay aound for hours! Our only issues were the carpet in the room needed a good scrubbing, and they need an in house coffee shop.

Yelp
We didn't stay at the hotel but we came to check out their casino before getting ready for the Taylor Swift concert. Had fun with my sister and unfortunately didn't win anything haha. They had a small outdoor section with slot machines. Otherwise just your usual casino :)

Yelp
The blaring music made the experience less than tolerable. Haven't been to Ceasars in years and although the updated version is excellent , when the music drowns out everything else including casual conversations , management has to find a happy medium for everyone. It was absolutely ridiculous how loud it was the entire night .

Yelp
I can only comment on the casino portion only, but I found it to be very clean, organized and a safe environment (during the busy pre-Mardi Gras days). I'd visited in the past, before the re-branding, and did not find anything really negative as a result of change. The food/beverage options are nice, and they should really focus a bit more on the hospitality training for those working in that area.

Yelp
Absolute disgrace for customer service. Impossible to reach anyone you need to contact via operator due to nobody picking up their assigned extension. Currently on my 7th call to resolve an issue. Half of my family's food order was left off and it's impossible to get in touch with the restaurant unless I travel all the way back. Not how normal casinos operate.

Yelp
My stay is awesome, staff are nice, room is clean and comfy, most importantly I won a lot in casino.

Yelp
Caesars was super nice inside for a casino. It's in a convenient location in New Orleans and was a decent size.

Yelp
Firstly, I realize that they are still remodeling, but I was disappointed in a few things. The selection of slots wasn't that varied or exciting, I did see empty areas where more machines would be placed, why not use the old ones in the meantime? I had issues with a few machines, one jammed up the bill and I had to wait at least 15min for a slot attendant to come and help. Another machine printed a voucher that I couldn't use in any other machine. I actually had to take it to the cashier to get my money back. I did stop by the Petite Brasserie for a coffee and pastry. My Caramel Macchiato was delicious, the biscuit I got was just ok, if you wanted jelly it costed $3!! I guess it was a little jar of jelly. There are various restaurants inside like a restaurant by Emeril Lagasse, it was beautiful looking and I assume very fancy. I saw a sign for Nobu as well.

Yelp
We stayed at the Harrahs part of the Caesars hotel. It was nice. The water was tricky- the shower would be cold or scolding hot, then occasionally warm. The bathtub was amazing- it was big and the water always filled up hot. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I was here for a conference and everything was great. The food was good. If you need a comfortable place to stay I recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I had a good time on the slots then the table. The dealers were nice and personable. Parking was easy, the trek from the parking lot is a bit much lol... but free parking after 30 minutes of play is great if the validation machine works!!

Yelp
First time visiting this Caesars location. Prices seem to be a bit more than the LV location. ID check was fast. Lenny at the main bar is a great bartender. Didn't visit any restaurants here though I heard Emerils is amazing. Slot machine attendants terrible. Bills got stuck it took 30 minutes for someone to show up or even walk by. It encouraged me to stop playing. Thanks for saving me money so thoughtful of you Caesars.

Yelp
I'm not a gambler but had never been to Harrah's in New Orleans on any prior visits . So this time around I made it a point to take a look and stop by. My friend and I looked around the casino . It wasn't crowded , was clean, staff were nice . Other visitors appeared to be enjoying the casino .

Yelp
Caesar's is a beautiful new addition to New Orleans!! We had fun taking in the Casino and gambling a little bit. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my dad did loose $5 in one of their machines and did not get it back after reporting it. They also have food and drink while you're playing machines. This place was massive and we did not go through all the way!! If you have time eat at the new Emeril's restaurant as you walk in!!

Yelp
I've already sent 3 emails and no one will respond. I stayed early January for my first and last time. This is my email to them that has gone unanswered. I booked a room at Harrahs/ Caesar's New Orleans roughly a year ago for this January 9-11. The original price was $20 a night when booked. I was not able to gamble much in 2024 so they increased the price to around $150 which was one night and one comped night. Fine, i accept that. When we got there, imagine our surprise that's it two different hotels and nowhere has that been indicated nor was it confirmed where we were supposed to go. We had two full bellhop carts full of luggage etc and the thought of moving everything to a new hotel was frustrating to say the least. So we paid what we were told was a $35 per night increase to just stay at the hotel we were at and avoid the hassle that was put upon us by the Caesar's company. Our final bill was around $240 which was insane considering when I booked the room I was paying $20 a night total. Our tv was broken for almost the entire stay. They came to fix it the night before we checked out. When we woke up and tried to check out on the tv, it had gone back to not working. I had to ask for towels FOUR times over TWO days to finally get them. Only about 1 out of every 4 machines actually would accept my card. This was the worst Caesar's experience I've had and you can see that I am often a guest. I was told my final bill had been emailed and it never was. I would still like a copy.

Yelp
Clean hotel that just opened. Good location. Staff friendly and efficient at check-in. Number one complaint is the water. The water temperature was inconsistent and half the time luke warm to cold. I couldn't wash my hair on the last day because it was unbearably cold. No wash clothes provided on day room was serviced.

Yelp
Amazing night! Came in with low expectations and walked out with great experiences. The bartender Ray provided the best service and was a very friendly gentleman. Thank you Blackjack!

Yelp
Background: this review is for the casino and the Harrah's hotel. Our stay was for 5 nights and I'm a Diamond Plus member. Casino: It was recently renovated and it's very nice. There were a few areas in the casino floor that were sparse and empty but they plan to fill with more machines in the near future (there were signs indicating so). There is a good variety of slots, and there are 3 outdoor areas for smoking (no smoking in main casino). There's a nice food court, and some newer celebrity restaurants. We didn't eat there so no comment on quality. There's a HUGE and very nice sports book area. Being a Diamond Plus did not give me any benefits. They don't have a laurel lounge nor do they offer drink tickets. Also no food vouchers. But I did get $50 free play. Overall: 4 stars Harrah's Hotel: First of all, room was nice. We were on the 23rd floor and had a nice city and river view. Room was spacious and clean. BUT, we never once got our room cleaned. We've called, went downstairs to request for it, and called again, nothing. We ended up emptying our trash and placed them in the corridor. And that trash bag was retrieved in less than an hour (go figure). Service was very unfriendly. The only pleasantry exchanged was when we first checked in. Whenever we passed by the front desk, if there were no customers, staff would congregate and chat. They would occasionally look up but went on with their conversation without any acknowledgment. When I went downstairs to ask for housekeeping, the rep just said: I'll let them know. She did not apologize, did not call housekeeping immediately, and did not assure that it would get done. There was a supervisor (?) behind her and she was busy looking into space or other things/people. One day when we returned to our room, a lady on our floor said she found her door opened after coming back from shopping. She called security and it took them an hour to get to her room. (We don't know what happened in the end) On my last day, I had to leave my bags at bell desk for a few hours. After retrieving it, I found that my gift bag was "flattened" which broke the fragile glasses I had in it (and I told the staff to be careful bc it's fragile). Stay here if and only if it's free, BUT, know what you're getting yourself into. Overall: 0 star

Yelp
The new Caesars tower was a sub par build but that doesn't mean it wasn't a nice improvement from the Harrahs tower. If you have stayed here, you know what I mean. Main concerns; the elevator jolting hard before coming to a complete stop for 90 seconds or so. Coincidentally that elevator was completely shut down the next day, absolutely terrifying experience. The top floor(lookout) was incomplete which was odd because the elevator let us go up there but when we pushed the button to go back down the elevator never came, this resulted in us walking down several flights of stairs to be able to get out of the stairwell because each floor was locked coming in from the stairwell to the hallway of any floor .... Customer service, this place needs to talk to most(not all, but most of their employees) the Lucky Dog employees for having AirPods in while serving customers. The rewards desk for working on their general customer service skills. The two I dealt with seemed like I bothered their day with you know "work". Lastly, the diamond host for coming in on a personal call, then making me along with others wait 10/15 minutes before assisting anyone.

Eric B.

Yelp
Denise Harper, a senior executive casino host, is the most unprofessional person I have come across at a Caesar's property. Being a 7 stars I have stayed at just about all the Caesar's properties in Vegas, as well as Arizona, IL and Indiana. She treated me like I was a nothing and didn't care about my concern of the $500 dining credit. I would never recommend staying at Caesars's New Orleans due to Denise's behavior. She is beyond rude and doesn't treat 7 stars properly. Shame on you, Denise Harper, for ruining my family's experience in New Orleans. You need to learn some manners and how to treat people, especially 7 stars.

Krystin K.

Yelp
Casino is under construction? This was the worst casino I've ever been in. Never have I seen more broken machines in my life. I would say the ratio was about 25-30% of the slot machines were broke. I am hoping this is because they are going through the transition to a Caesars. But dang! So sad. The vibe was definitely one of destitute people.

Joshua H.

Yelp
My key wouldn't work at 4 AM and I was met with a condescending attitude, absolutely garbage humans running this place

Alton S.

Yelp
I'm a diamond plus member and was pretty much treated like common person. Only one received offer while we were here. And we stayed for the whole week. Not trying to be greedy but if you treat all your members the same then why come here to play. Not sure if I would visit here again. Hotel was nice but the casino has a lot of work to do if the want to draw out of town guest.

Trina D.

Yelp
Was not informed of 2 hotel choices when making reservation. I have serious mobility issues and got stuck across a busy street from main casino and other hotel where my family had rooms. Staff not helpful as checkin was a time consuming ordeal. Never again.

Michael C.

Yelp
The casino was beautiful after the update. They had more than enough table games (which is rare these days). We stayed at Harrah's since the new hotel was not open yet. It was a little dated but I was shocked with the cleanliness of the room. Overall it was a great experience. Only issues was the steakhouse in the casino wasn't great. Ruth's Chris however was very good.

A. K.

Yelp
We stayed at the new Caesar's Hotel the weekend before Thanksgiving. The casino has undergone an extensive renovation and it is nice! It's clean, and lighter and brighter. You do have to show ID every time you enter the casino. I thought this was an annoyance at first but then realized it keeps out the undesirables. The clientele is much different now, in a good way. Back to the Caesar's Hotel....It is new and clean and staff is very pleasant. Honestly, I was a bit underwhelmed. It lacks the grandiose vibe of the LV Caesar's rooms. It's like any other hotel room in any city similar to a Marriott. The bathroom was on the small side with only a single sink. No tub, just a shower. It had only been open a few weeks and I could tell some of the finishes were done on the cheap. There was already a rust stain in the shower from a screw. It just wasn't grand. With that being said, we had a nice time, the restaurants were nice, and I would definitely recommend visiting.

Toddria H.

Yelp
If I can give it 0 stars I would. It's a Wednesday night no high volume traffic. I played a nice amount of money on my machine and of course wanted the courtesy drink that is offered on the machines. Patiently waited for my drink and server girl arrives asked what I ordered I told her and then walks away and serve others. I still patiently waited for her to come back and no return. Then my sisters tried to order it on their machine then it was randomly canceled. So my sisters felt bad I didn't get a drink so they went to the bar and wanted to pay but was skipped over. My mom went to bar to try and was skipped over and finally circled back saying she didn't see them and she new! Bad experience from bartender girl at emeril's bar. We got the supervisor and he said he would take care of us which is great! A server comes over of course we thinking she was sent by the supervisor. Wrong ! We told her(Chasity)hey we have been waiting for 2 hrs in a joking way and she said I just came from my lunch break I don't care about no 2 hrs! WTH kind of service is that and who says that to paying customers. Like girl if you don't like your job go do something else! The job didn't choose you, you chose the job girl! With all that being said when i experienced things like that such as bad service, you lose a paying customer. Supervisor offered to bring me a drink and I personally declined, because it was all unnecessary. I been going to this casino since it was Harrah's back in 2011, very unfortunate that this is how they treat paying customers. Will be my last time.
