Caesar's Pizza & Subs

This restaurant is what the definition of a hidden gem is. The food is fresh, delicious, exactly what you look for in a great slice of pizza. They have many options, including burgers and subs, which all are made fresh to order as well. The prices are also reasonable, but what makes it stand out more are the specials they have which make the meals 10x more affordable for a solid meal. It’s truly wonderful to see a place that actually cares about the people for once. But then the service stands out most to me, the people are the kindest, always accommodating, never rushing me to finish my meal, and making sure I feel welcomed and acknowledged at all times. They treat everyone as a community, which I think should happen more often. Everyone is welcome there and they make sure of it. I definitely recommend coming here, you will fall in love with it!

Got Italian Subs to eat for the next day. They were very good and I'm sure they would have been even way better had we got to eat them fresh. Very friendly staff.

Google
I got a calzone. It was ok for an American calzone. No where near as good as a true Napoli calzone. The dough is wrong the sauce should be inside and is cheap quality, the cheeses are wrong, this is not the one. However, the staff were nice and friendly and the service was quick. You’re not going to find a real calzone in Bosto, and so the search continues!

Imo, Union Square lacks great pizza. Sure, all the Indian joints around here make good pizza. Hotbox is great. However, they all feel like a different pizza experience that isn’t the “classic” pizza I’ve been looking for. For me, Caesar’s hits that mark. Stopped in for a slice of cheese pizza on a 90 degree day in June. No flop, cheese to sauce ratio was just what I like. Atmosphere feels old school, lots of coke memorabilia, good classics being played over the radio. AC was on and I was enjoying a cold bottle of Mexican Coke. Is this not the ideal atmosphere for consuming pizza?? Owner was focused but friendly. I’ll def be coming back!

Been coming for 10 years. Neighborhood staple. Best pizza in the Boston area hands down. I hope they never leave!

Pleasantly surprised and happy with Caesar's Pizza & Subs. I've driven by a lot and decided to give this place a try tonight for walk-up / takeout. Menu & prices clearly written on the walls, lots of choices. I wanted to try a pizza slice and they offered Regular & Sicilian style. I also spied a Special Chicken Parm sandwich with Prosciutto the Mozzarella that i couldn't resist. Place was clean and staff was friendly. Prices quite reasonable as well. Got home and loved the flavors! Sicilian style with pepperoni was tasty and quite good but tonight's star was the Special Chicken Parmesean (full sandwich)! Really deep delicious flavors fun both the sauce, parmesean, and prosciutto especially. Very good portions as well. As a Philly boy who grew up with really good pizza & sub shops, I'm very happy to find this place. Looking forward to exploring the menu more.

Google
Finally got to try this place I walked in for a slice and couldn't help but water more excellent customer service seemingly high quality and delicious food all at a fair price. Considering this is far from the Italian neighborhoods in Boston you can still get a taste for them here. Also deliciously seasoned french fries . Very casual Sub Shop; great price, great food.

Google
Old school pizza joint since 1978. I’ve only tried the pizza and a Caesar wrap but I will definitely be back. The service is friendly and the food is fresh and tasty. The shop was clean. Support local small businesses. Prices are very reasonable.
google avatar

Yelp
Best subs and wraps around! They make their own wraps. Always fresh and very tasty. My favorite is the Olympian Wrap
google avatar

Debbie N.

Yelp
Omg this is my most favorite pizza in Somerville . The salads are fantastic. There are alway the loyal regulars. Great service with a smile always.

Gary L.

Yelp
Service was great. Nice place, has seating and a TV with the U.S. Open on it. Go the chicken cutlet sub. Bread was really fresh. Great sandwich. Will visit again.
google avatar

Dj B.

Yelp
Great service and great food at reasonable prices. I can't ask for anything more in a neighborhood establishment. Go there for yourself and see how good it is.

Cayden G.

Yelp
Visiting and looking for a solid pizza experience. Clean spot and kind people working. Had a classic garden salad and a large pepperoni pizza; more then enough to fill us all up. Great pizza, fast service, and more than fair pricing. If we lived here, this would be a place we'd get our pizza. Wish we were here long enough to try more of the menu.
google avatar

Simon L.

Yelp
Maybe the best pizza and subs in town. Sicilian square pizza is thick and fluffy. Thin crust available too. Amazing meatball sub - large is overflowing with sauce, cheese and meatballs. Nestled in a soft braided sub roll. Great place.
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
The best place for pizza and their garden salad are good although They give you few steak pbut unfortunately it was twice they were closed earlier than their posted time. I dont think I will be visiting soon. Do not get their chick Caesar wrap, it's just lettuce and few chucks of chicken and some stale croutons on a thick pita style wrap that mad it look stuffed & I'll let my pics talk about the BCF plate I receiveD
google avatar

Brittny M.

Yelp
Love this place. I got an Italian sub and motz sticks which were delicious. I wish I would of known about it sooner. They have many sand which options and pizza also looked great. Customer service was great too
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp

Yelp
I want the owner of this place to know that I have tried many many many pizza shops in the area and if I'm getting a delivery pizza, from now on I'm getting it here. They run their own delivery, you can pay with credit card when they get to your door. It's not a fancy brick oven place, which is a different kind of thing. But it's exactly what I've been looking for in Somerville for the last ten years. It's A high quality, not greasy, piping hot, classic and delicious pizza place. Hail Caesar!
google avatar

Scarrie S.

Yelp
We have lived in Somerville for years, and I'm a total pizza snob. I had pretty much given up on the perfect pie. Them we tried Ceasers. How did we never know? We had a spinach feta eggplant pizza and it was perfect. Not soggy, but lots of toppings. Great crust. Just all around delicious. I usually get sad when my pizza gets cold on the way home and have to heat it up. But this one? Didn't care it was effing delicious. Ceaser's I think you will be our new go to for pizza night!
google avatar

Chirl P.

Yelp
This place is great for a quick delivery and decent food at a reasonable price. The people on the phone were really helpful and the delivery guy was friendly. The food came about 40 min after calling on a Friday night. The pizza was great except the one thing is that they do not have ricotta cheese for their white pizza- it's mozzarella. Still would order again! For 4 people we ordered: -A pizza w/ 4 toppings ($19.95) - average pizza but does it's job! -Garlic Bread ($3.95) - this was my favorite of the meal. the flavor was great; the bread was crispy and it came with marinara sauce! It is the size of a hero bread -Buffalo Wing Dings ($6.95 for half dozen) - good flavor and came with enough sauce but it was a little soggy since it was covered in a container.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Amazingly good Italian! Cheese pizza was excellent, meatball sub and chicken parm sub were some of the best we've ever had, and the salad was great too. Plus the people working there were super nice. A Yelp gem!!
google avatar

Matheus B.

Yelp
I've Visited many pizza shops around the area and this one is like no other!!! The quality of the food is astonishing, all the flavors pack a punch, this food taste so fresh. (My to go place) definitely recommend
google avatar

Carlos F.

Yelp
Always have their food on point. I've never been disappointed and I've been going there for over 15 years. The staff is super friendly. Cash only. Their chicken Parm sub is my favorite.

Rik S.

Yelp
I've been going to Caesar's since (gulp.... 1982!!!) since Lou's father ran the place. The pizza was and is ALWAYS fresh and it hasn't changed in all those years. The crust is great and Lou and his team always deliver the best toppings. It is the best pizza in the area and believe me, I've tried them all. My only complaint is that I wish they were open on Sundays as well. Keep up the great work Lou and your team!
google avatar

Wyatt R.

Yelp
Phenomenal pizza, great combo deals, excellent subs, buffalo chicken is prime. The manager of the store is a great guy and is always incredibly friendly to his customers. I have never been in there when there weren't at least 5 other people eating, which goes to show how great it is. Only drawback is they do not always deliver however that doesn't stop me from going there
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
Love this place! The pizza is delicious and the staff couldn't be any nicer. Went in there one night when we didn't realize they were about to close and they stayed open and made a pizza and salad for us. I would highly recommend!

Dotty P.

Yelp
I remember when they first opened I was just a teenager. The pizza is out of this world. The owner George the best!!!!! His son runs it now and I remember him when he was little. Had a lot of great times in there.
google avatar

Junior G.

Yelp
This guy just made me the best steak bomb I have ever had. The place is clean, you get to see the food being made, and the service is great. The food is made fresh so if you are in hurry give them call beforehand so you don't wait. Overall 5 stars, amazing food, great service. I work right next door and will probably be a regular here now.
google avatar

Brian Y.

Yelp
A staple since I started working in Somerville 4 years ago. Really friendly staff, the owner himself is always there and loves what he does. Usually get the Steak bomb but will get the fried haddock sub when they have it. Fresh food and great tasting. Can't really beat that!
google avatar

Lucas B.

Yelp
Pros: The food here is terrific! I usually get one of the subs, but the pizza and calzones are good too. The guys working there are really down to earth and friendly. Cons: You'll get fat. Verdict: The go-to place for pizza and subs in Union Square.

Yelp
As a pizza snob, I usually liked to think that the best pie on Earth could be found somewhere in or between the limits of Manhattan and New Haven. Luckily, as a Boston resident nowadays, Caesar's has quickly helped me broaden my boundaries for the perfect slice. Sometimes you can just tell when a restaurant and their workers take tremendous pride in their product and at Caesar's, their devotion to both their product and their customer could not be anymore obvious. The pizza is out of this world and I frequently find myself craving a small cheese for myself or having one right in my lap ready to go. The cheese is perfect and the entire pie tastes of fresh ingredients. Perhaps you're one of the five or six people on Earth who don't enjoy pizza. You're probably thinking "is there anything for me at Caesar's?" Well, hold onto your butts because the answer is YES! Their wraps are another world of awesome. The Chicken Caesar Wrap is to die for and if you rationed correctly, could probably last you the entire winter. The amount of food they pack into a wrap is impressive enough, and with the price they charge, it's a steal. At Caesar's, you're much more than a customer; you're a person. You are a face and a personality that the workers now and enjoy serving. Caesar's will forever have my service. In essence, it's everything you want a neighborhood business to be.
google avatar

Joy Y.

Yelp
Great pizzas. Decent subs. Never. Freaking. Open. Not even on sundays! Whhhhyyyy??? Is it not the most profitable day of the week?! Not even during football season. But seriously, good pizza, you know, if you ever get an actual chance to eat it.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
I was craving a meatball sub. I knew I had seen the sign outside of this place multiple times boasting homemade meatballs and although I tend to be skeptical of the quality of little places like this, I thought why not check it out? I was pleasantly surprised with our first experience here. The sub was pretty darn tasty. It was huge, hot, the sauce was flavorful, the meatballs tasted like my grandma's (yes, that's right. And she's Sicilian), perfect amount of cheese, and it was all placed on bread that is fresh baked right in Winter Hill. It was so big I didn't think I could eat it all, but once I tasted it, I finished it in one sitting with no problem. The owner was helpful and friendly. The pizza looked tasty too, but we'll have to try that next time! I'm sold on Caesar's. They had me at my grandma's meatballs.

Yelp
I am a really big fan of this place. It is a standard neighborhood type pizza joint, booths and really nothing to speak of by way of decor. But they serve the best pizza I've had so far in the Boston area-- the crust is chewy, crisp, airy, just as it should be. The marinara sauce is really flavorful, not too sweet, not too acidic, tastes fresh and not like canned tomatoes. Cheese is good quality, doesn't make the pizza into a grease slick and has flavor. Good mix of toppings. Pineapple is the essential one for me, and they've got it and it's delicious. Ask for the pizza to be a little well done, they sometimes pull it out early and you don't get the full glory of slightly charred edges and maximum crispiness. I can only really speak to the pizza, but the sandwiches look substantial and I once got garlic bread which comes on the same bread and really enjoyed that. I also appreciate that they will sell you pizza by the slice with whatever toppings you want-- I often come because I am craving a specific type of pizza but don't want to buy a whole pie. The guys who work there are super friendly too. I also find it super impressive when a place obviously responds to feedback. Look at the reviews on here sorted by date and it's pretty amazing-- just keep going up and up. And the bad things have changed-- fresh veggies, and they now accept credit. Usually a neighborhood joint like this just relies on local foot traffic for business, but they seem to really be taking the task of producing top-notch food seriously. You really want to try this place so hard.

Yelp
Have to bump it to a fifth star. These guys put a lot of love into everything they make. Every sub, every pizza, every side, every salad I've ever had is just overflowing with ingredients - meats, cheeses, veggies. The word "meager" is not in their vocabulary (nor are the terms "diet", "fat free", or "low carb"). The one hidden gem that I highly recommend is the cheese fries. A big portion of fries in a heaping pool of melted mozzarella. Skip the ketchup and instead get a big side of marinara sauce. Caesar's will have me coming back to Union Square even after I move to Davis next month.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
I'm not a big fan of pepperoni pizza but whenever my husband orders this, I can't resist! It's delicious. It's hard to hear when you call so ensure they have your order and address right for delivery. And enjoy the stodge!
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Here's the low down: -It's in walking distance for my home -They have a delicious thin cheese slice (usually get 2 and a soda) -Also love their chicken parm sub -Friendly folks behind the counter Bottom line: it has all the components that your neighborhood pizza place SHOULD have.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
How this place has 4.5 stars and City Slicker only has 3, I do not understand. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just cheap tasty food to come to me quickly. We decided to order from Caesar's based on reviews on Yelp. Two steak and cheeses- one with peppers, one with mushrooms. And yes, they deliver. They arrived quickly, and the food was cheap ($14 for two large subs delivered). But tasty it was not. The beef wasn't seasoned. Not under seasoned, but not seasoned. Just plain beef. There was a low cheese to beef ratio. Needed salty cheese product to balance the unsalted beef. The worst part was the veggies. My peppers were horrible. The worst I have ever had, and I have eaten a lot of bad food in my life. They were insipid, sour, mushy, and bitter. Honestly gross. I was told the mushrooms were no better. Putting hot sauce on the thing in attempt of a fix just made things worse. Sorry Caesar's, there won't be a next time.
google avatar

Bob S.

Yelp
I work just down the street and for the past few years have been going to Caesar's regularly. The guys are the best and the food is always excellent and done on time. I've probably had half of the selections on their large menu and have never been disappointed.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
I'd heard fair reviews for Caesar's from friends but had never tried it myself before today. The pizza was exactly the way I like it: thin crust with a crisp bottom and fluffy outer crust with a perfect cheese-to-sauce-to-crust ratio. I ordered a single slice and it was bigger than my head and oh so tasty. I just moved to Somerville from southern Maine, where there is almost no good pizza to speak of, so I'm really excited to have a tasty pizza place that a few steps from my door! My brother had a steak and cheese and loved every bite of it as well. The salad was basic but still good and really fresh. The fellas working the counter were super friendly in a non-fake kind of way and double checked with me through making my order to make sure they were doing what i wanted. I'll definitely be back when I'm craving pizza!
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
I wanted to the pizza to be better here . Maybe I was holding my expectations too high due to childhood memories . I went with a slice of cheese it was 3 stars .
google avatar

Joy P.

Yelp
I don't live around here but I stop in for a quick lunch while in town and they had the best grilled chicken Greek wrap I have ever had!!! Can't wait to visit again!!! The owners were so friendly and pleasant!!! The best homemade pita bread ever!!
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
The best subs in Subberville - hands down. I work around the corner and these guys are always super nice and gracious while making giant sandwiches that go straight to the stomach for a food coma. The cheeseburger sub and the chicken parm are favorites while the giant salads are also formidable. No delivery that I know of but whatever. Visiting the tiny place is part of the vibe of this homey kitchen.
google avatar

Rob L.

Yelp
Really good pizza place on Somerville Ave. I recently moved into an office nearby and have been going for lunch. The pizza is quite good, very similar to NY style thin slices. Steak & cheese sandwich was good too. Other than that It's a pretty standard counter-service pizza place. The prices are reasonable: $1.95 for a cheese slice, $5.95 for a large steak & cheese sandwich. They also have daily lunch specials like 2 cheese slices, fries + coke for $5.50 (that's wednesday). They also have dinners like pasta & egglplant parmesan, and some breakfast choices, though I haven't tried them yet.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Great food. Great customer service. Convenient Location. Try the breakfast sandwich. It's a steal.
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
After living in Union Sq for 2 years, this is the place I miss the most after moving away. It is the perfect neighborhood gem, incredibly friendly staff topped with consistently superb food at an excellent price. It is not your $30 artisan pizza, you won't find any ironic mustaches or tattoos; instead you will come across a place that you will not outgrow and come back to time and time again.
google avatar

joe f.

Yelp
A really friendly place, usually right on time with orders. I don't get delivery as I live around the corner. The have sicilian pizza which I love (Not Leon's quality, but still good). I usually get a steak/cheese/mushroom or the Special Chicken Parm. Hands down they have the best fries in somerville. I love their Monday lunch special (Chicken Sandwich) and Friday Haddock Sandwich special. An ATM in the store would really help as cash-only is a pain but it probably keeps their costs down.
google avatar

Jenn P.

Yelp
This is an awesome place to eat. For sure the best pizza I have had. My fiancé and I had a great meal and the guys working were awesome!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Canned mushrooms. And if that weren't enough, the peppers were also questionable. Maybe it's the Californian in me, but I need fresh veggies. Plus, it got so soggy in the middle I had to peel box off the crust before eating it. Considering how much pizza there is in this area, I won't be coming back here. (I also think it might be more expensive that other places in the area.) Cash Only. Fast delivery.
google avatar

Leila M.

Yelp
Someone needs to write a truthful review of this place. I thought the pizza there was mediocre, and it was literally dripping with grease. I had to dab it off with a ton of napkins and even after I did it was still greasy. I won't be going back.

Narrayana S.

Yelp
First time trying this place. My boyfriend loves it. I was impressed with their pizza and fries. I can see why he's been coming here since he was a kid
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Best pizza in Union Sq- and I've tried them all. That goes a long way in my book, thus the four stars. Haven't had the subs and the salads are weak, but the pizza is damn good. Would have gone five stars but the hours suck, closing at 9 and not open at all on Sunday (Sunday and after 9pm are my prime pizza eating times). Also they don't take credit cards. I often spend on credit or debt cards and don't often have cash on me- they have lost more then a few sales from me due to this policy. It would also be cool if they had beer, but alas.
google avatar

Cassandra M.

Yelp
Food was EXCELLENT. Hot, fresh, tasty, and very affordable. Definitely a hidden gem, the steak and cheese subs were the best I've had in Boston for sure!

David d.

Yelp
OK, First let me qualify what 5 stars means here. This is not Olive's, folks. It's a pizza joint. They have stuff like chicken wings and calzones, not rabbit truffle bisque. The rating speaks to 1) the warm and friendly attitude -- this is a neighborhood place, the kind where you will be recognized and treated like a friend after one visit; 2) the steakbomb sub! WOW! Steak tips, medium rare, mushrooms, peppers, and whatever back-of-grill mysteries and incantations were performed. Bottom line: FANTASTIC. Regrets? Of course! i ate a steakbomb sub (oh yeah, on a wrap -- their suggestion, not mine) at 8 PM. I'm still aware of it at 1:45 AM. But still --First class! Don't make a special trip from New York City. But if you like me want to curb your appetite before heading over to Market Basket where you might otherwise be tempted to purchase the entire contents of the snack aisle, this is a good move. Cheers!

Liz M.

Yelp
No need to compare Caesar's to a hipster cafe or chain restaurant, people. This small, family-owned pizza place is on a different level. It's a place where the cooks try to make small-talk, and the owner comes around even if it's just your second visit. It's also where everything is made when you step in... although covered in grease. But let's be honest, no one here was expecting a healthy meal. Lots of cheese, fried subs... oh my. But the specialty pizzas are gems -- the chicken pizza saves the menu.

logan h.

Yelp
Caesars is a really great neighborhood pizza and sub shop! The guys here are friendly and helpful, and honestly seem to give a sh¡t about what they're serving. Subs are stuffed full( I've had steak bond and burger, wife loves chicken parm) good pizza( only had by the slice so far). But more than anything it's the staff, very hospitable.
google avatar

Yelp
My girlfriend and I have lived in the neighborhood for a year, and have always passed by Caesar's without going in. From the outside, it seems like a run-of-the-mill sub/pizza joint, and nothing grabbed us as unique. But, then my girlfriend saw a sign outside that touted their homemade meatballs, and we decided to give it a try. As we walked in, the owner (running the counter and making the food) gave us a really nice welcome, and pointed out the highlights of the menu. The food was delicious (my girlfriend said it reminded her of "her grandmother's meatballs"), and we after we ate we chatted with the owner for a few minutes, and he's a genuinely nice guy. We'll be back again!
