This incident occurred between the hours of 6:30 pm and 10 pm on 1/09/25. I am currently staying at Harrah's hotel. I arrived in an electric car and was sent to the parking lot at Caesar's (same company, different casino) because they have electric car chargers available. Prior to leaving Harrah's, I dropped off my family and our luggage, but kept my 5-month-old baby with me because he is exclusively breastfeeding and was due for a feeding soon. I figured it would be a quick stop at the Caesar's parking lot to plug in my car, then pop the baby in the stroller and walk back to Harrah's, right? Wrong.
I arrived at the Caesar's parking lot, pulled a ticket, entered the lot, and proceeded to look for the electric car chargers. They were nowhere to be found. So I proceeded to the exit and pressed the call button for assistance. Even though I was very polite, the woman on the other end was extremely rude. I told her I couldn't find the chargers and she said, "what do you mean? They're right on the third floor." She sounded very irritated. I told her that I had driven all over the third floor and hadn't seen them and asked if someone could help me find them. She coldly told me "no". She then said I could try the Golden Nugget Casino if the chargers on the third floor were unavailable. I said I was going to go back to the third floor to look for the chargers again and asked if I should back up and turn around or if I should exit through the gate and re-enter, but she had already hung up on me. Obviously I did NOT want to press that call button again, so I turned around and went back to the third floor. This time I found them, but there were only 3, and they were all occupied, so easy to miss. I decide to exit the parking lot and try the Golden Nugget (same company, different casino) per the lady's suggestion. At this point, the baby is screaming and my car battery is dangerously low.
I go to exit the parking lot, slide my ticket in, and get an error message. So I have to press the call button again. I get the same lady. I explain to her that it's me again, I found the chargers but they're all occupied, and I want to try the Golden Nugget but my ticket isn't working. She says I'm probably using an old ticket and asks me to check the date. There's no way she can't hear the baby screaming in my car. I read off the date (today's) and time (20 minutes ago). She says she'll let me out this time only and raises the arm.
I follow the GPS to the Golden Nugget. This time, the parking gate arm is raised so I'm able to drive in without pulling a ticket. I see a security guard circling the parking lot in a pickup truck, flag him down, and ask him if he can please direct me to the electric car charging. He sends me to the second floor of the garage.
I make it there and see that there are numerous chargers, but they are all Tesla chargers. I don't own a Tesla. I have a Kia EV9. I do, however, own a Tesla adapter. My adapter works but, for some reason, these Tesla chargers at the Golden Nugget are unregistered on Tesla's app so I am not able to link in or process a payment. Perhaps they are exclusively available for Tesla owners? I have no idea, but either way I need to exit the garage now and continue looking for a charger somewhere else.
So I go to exit the Golden Nugget parking lot, but the gate arm is now down so I have to press the call button. It's the same lady from the Caesar's intercom. I explain to her that I couldn't get the Tesla chargers to work on my Kia, and that I don't have a ticket to scan because the arm was up when I came in. She says she already let me out once (back at Caesar's) and she can't let me out again. She says I need to go to the security booth to be granted an exit. I say, "can you please tell me where the security booth is?" but again, she has prematurely hung up on me. So I drive around the parking lot, hoping I'll find the booth or the security guard I spoke to earlier, but they are nowhere to be found.
So I have no choice but to go to the exit and press the call button again. The lady is livid and screaming at me now. "I TOLD YOU TO PARK YOUR CAR AND ENTER THE CASINO AND GO TO THE SECURITY BOOTH!"
She did NOT tell me that. She told me to go to the security booth and then hung up on me while I was asking where the security booth was. I had assumed it would be in the parking lot somewhere.
So I park my car and enter the casino. I have to push my baby in a stroller past the smoke-filled bar to get to the security booth.
Once there, I explain to the security guard everything that has happened. He gives me a printed code that should allow me to exit the parking lot. It doesn't work and I get yelled at by intercom lady again and told I am no longer welcome at Caesar's or the Golden Nugget.
The bottom line? Don't bring an electric car to a casino. Don't park at Caesar's or the Golden Nugget. The entry/exit system is severely flawed. And whatever you do, do NOT press the call button.
