Where To Drink Outside in Alexandria

"Try Cafe 44’s balcony for cocktails on a rooftop perch overlooking the Potomac River. The bar also is all-in on happy hour, even on Saturdays, with $5 beer, $6 house wine, and $7 spirits." - Adele Chapin

Jula’s on the Potomac offers a dining experience that’s equal parts relaxing and indulgent. The atmosphere was wonderful. It’s perfect for enjoying a meal in peace. We decided to sit outside on a breezy fall day, and it was the best choice we could have made. The patio overlooks the Potomac River, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop. The views alone are worth the visit, but thankfully, the food lived up to the setting. I opted for the Garden Truffle, and it was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors was well thought out and perfectly executed. The creamy brie sauce paired beautifully with the roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions, creating a rich, savory bite in every forkful. The white truffle oil added an elevated touch, while the micro basil and balsamic glaze provided just the right balance of freshness and sweetness. For $19, it felt like a great value for the quality and presentation. The service was attentive without being overbearing, which allowed us to really soak in the moment. Whether you’re looking for a romantic date spot or a relaxing meal with friends, Jula’s offers the perfect ambiance and delicious food to match. Highly recommend sitting outside if the weather allows!

Google
Service was good and attentive. Prices high, portions meh and the flavor wasn’t great. Chicken and waffles came out warm, not hot. This food may be great to the people who are regulars and inexperienced with brunch fare but for refined pates, buyer beware. Got noticeably louder when the crowds arrived.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the brunch. There is not one negative thing to say about this place. Every single food item was delicious and the mimosas were good too. Our server Khai Q. was outstanding, very personable and he encouraged us to come again, which we will. We planned to go to NYC next month for my daughter’s 30th bday and she asked that we come back to DC so we come here for a bday brunch. Try this place and you will not be disappointed.

Google
Jula's is one of my all-time favorite restaurants and the views are exceptional. One can see the Potomac River from the Wilson Bridge to the D.C. monuments. Any time there are visitors or people new to the area, it is the first place I recommend. The food is delicious and the servers are friendly and efficient. On a nice day, the outside seating is outstanding. They have umbrellas and heaters depending on the weather. The interior of the restaurant is also inviting with lovely decor and huge windows. I appreciate that the restaurant is not overpriced, despite all the positive aspects. Everyone I have sent there has thanked me and, no, I was not paid for this review!

Google
Wonderful experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely food. The homemade biscuit and gravy or honey butter absolutely must be tried. I'd order that as a meal next time! The homemade key lime pie was to die for. Majority of the group didn't care for the potato side, one of them saying the potatoes were not cooked through, so I took off a star. Otherwise, the food got a round of thumbs up. The price was fair for the view and dining experience - good for a vacation brunch just once, but not somewhere to go for frugal eating.

Google
I gave it 5 stars because its a nice fancy breakfast places for special events in my opinion. It was def pricey. However, the restaurant looked nice. The view was nice. The location in old town is nice. The food was good. It was a little cold outside our area didn't have heaters, but some do. My girlfriend loved the key lime pie.she said her omelete was only average and it did look kinda plain. But my shrimp and grits were really good. The biscuit was good. Our waiter was super friendly also. Would come back again for some nice occasions.

Google
The atmosphere was great. Lovely view of the water. The temperature was a bit warm in the dining room, for my taste however. There also needs to be a bit more direction provided to locate the establishment. My Google maps said I arrived while I was standing outside on railroad tracks 🤣. With a bit of roaming and asking, I was able to locate it. The food was good but we received ours room temperature, which one doesn't expect when eating in. I can only guess they needed additional servers. All of the staff members were polite and cheerful but our server did not check on us frequently enough nor, provide requests timely. The 3-stars for Service are due to the pleasant experience with hostesses and the owner during the visit, otherwise Service would have received 1-star for our server alone. I would return to Cafe 44 hoping the concerns reported were simply due to having a busy day and not enough staff.

Google
Great service and great food! My husband and I visited on a Saturday morning for brunch and got a chance to sample the prix fixe menu as well as a breakfast item from the main menu. The biscuits and sausage gravy are amazing! The shrimp and grits were also delicious. They have so much outdoor seating with a great view of the Potomac. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food has to be some of the most well crafted dishes. Some of the combinations were really odd but really did work well together in the server did an amazing job explaining each dish to us. It is such a cute little eye referring brunch definitely recommend for a birthday brunch.

Yelp
Great place to have some drinks overlooking the Potomac River. The selections for charcuterie baords are vast and the presentation is very visually appealing. Nice cozy place that has outdoor and indoor seating. Personable staff.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with some of my girls to celebrate Social Work Month. This establishment is now called Lula's On The Potomac. The aesthetics are BEAUTIFUL! I do plan to come back during the spring time so I may be able to sit on the patio looking over the water. The server and hostess were very nice and professional. They serve lunch, brunch (weekends only), social hour (happy hour), and dinner. Check this place out, highly recommended!

Yelp
I loved everything about this place! It is off the beaten path enough, just outside of King Street and on top of an unassuming office building, so it feels like a hidden gem. The view was fantastic with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Potomac, lovely ambiance, great brunch menu, and beautiful patio seating for when the weather is nice. The food was great - especially the breakfast burrito. Great list of cocktails and cocktails. I look forward to returning! Also note that the parking garage in the building is $5 flat rate on weekends.

Yelp
My friends and I had brunch at Cafe 44. It's a cute little restaurant with a nice view of Alexandria. There's lots of Moets on display here with an accent wall decorated with greenery and flowers. Service was extremely slow here but staff was friendly. We had to wait a while to put in our order, get our order/drinks and check. The restaurant offered a prix fixe menu but the items I wanted were on the menu and it didn't seem like it was that great of a deal. I had the lobster Benedict which was good but the French toast pudding and burrito were meh. The burrito barely had any meat and was very dry.

Yelp
This is a very beautiful restaurant with a fantastic view. We sat on the balcony. There was a slight breeze, but the heaters helped to offset the coolness. Service was fast and accurate. No complaints. We ordered the meatballs (forgot picture). It was 8 nicely sized meatballs and they were good. I would have liked them to be a little more firm though. Next time I will ask. I ordered a turkey club w/ a side salad. Very good. My daughter got the buffalo chicken flatbread and loved it. My husband got the Cajun shrimp linguine and it was very tasty. I also enjoyed my huckleberry lemonade (forgot picture). It comes in a small jar. Refreshing. We loved this place so much we can't wait to return. The only downside is that the balcony chairs weren't very comfortable, so I'm glad we weren't there long.

Yelp
On Sunday, I met up with some friends for brunch. We originally had seats to sit outside, but it was raining. Kayla ? Was the host and arranged for us to sit inside. For a 1pm on Sunday, the bar and restaurant was buzzing! I love how Cafe 44 is very modern modern and sleek. For my drink, I had the staycation. It was pretty good. For brunch, I opted for the prix fixe menu. I started with the southern biscuit! It was so delicious ! I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was pretty good. The shrimp was massive! For dessert, I had the key lime pie. Which was the perfect touch. It's helpful to know you go into the parking garage. Once you are on the elevator, you go up to the 4th floor. Parking was less than $5. Cafe 44 is a great place to dine , brunch, get together with loved ones and go on date. Go picture ready as there are nice green walls and a patio with city views!

Yelp
It was my first visit to Cafe 44 but it won't be my last. This a great place for brunch and waterfront views. It's in an office building so I wan't expecting much when it came to decor, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got upstairs. What a cute spot! It's not a huge restaurant but they've really maximized the space. I had the 3 course fixed price brunch, which included my mocktail, lobster bisque, shrimp and grits, and key lime pie. It was reasonably priced for all the food I got. Everything tasted great. The lobster bisque was rich and creamy. Some bread for dipping would have been nice. The shrimp and grits was delicious. The base was white cheddar grits topped with cajun shrimp, fried egg (I opted for that instead of a poached egg), a Jim Beam cream sauce, and some micro greens. For dessert, I had key lime pie with torched meringue. The pie wasn't as firm as I'm used too but still good. My server was pleasant and made great recommendations.

Yelp
Love this place. Such great views and the service is fantastic. The food is definitely good too. Great for lunch, brunch, dinner and happy hour.I personally like to come here for lunch because it's not as crowded as other times of the day. When you arrive it looks like an office building but take the elevator to the 4th floor and you enter into a beautiful restaurant. The only reason this place gets 5 stars is because desserts are not good (in my opinion). Otherwise, this is an amazing restaurant.

Yelp
Before I start the food review I will say do not be tempted to book the patio, especially during the winter and cold months. The description, to me, was misleading. I read it as the patio being enclosed with heaters. They do have heaters but it's not enclosed so you are still feeling that cold air. With that being said, I do plan to come back when it starts to get warmer. The restaurant is pretty small but does have outside parameter "patio" dining. There is also a parking garage ($5) and the elevator goes to the restaurant that's on the 4th floor. The waiter we had was friendly and patient with my party and also tried to honor our request and get a table on the inside. We weren't that lucky. However; after a few sips of your mixed drink of choice, you do start to warm up lol. I ordered the lobster Benedict and it was amazing!!! My friend ordered shrimp and grits and she stated they were delicious as well. We split an order of French toast because the waiter stated it was rich. It was extremely good. With the ease of parking, the delicious food, and the amazing service, I'll most definitely be coming back once the weather starts to change.

Yelp
Cafe 44's brunch is fantastic! It's been on my hit list for while for the next time I visited Alexandria. Celebrating my newly engaged sister/cousin, I wanted to treat her to a memorable brunch and it was well worth it. We throughly enjoyed our girls time she was excited to tell her fiancé that they needed to come here for date night, it's the prefect place for both! What a fabulous view of the Potomac, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and even the National Harbor. We chose to sit outside on the chilly Sunday afternoon, the heaters that hung from helped above made you forget that you were on the patio but at times it did become a little too warm, but better warm than freezing cold. For meals there is an option for the three course pre-fixed menu that comes with a brunch cocktail or appetizer, entree, and another brunch cocktail or dessert. We opted just to do à la carte since we both wanted Shrimp & Grits, shared an order of the French Toast Bread Pudding, and a bottle of Rose Prosecco. The Shrimp & Grits were creamy, hearty, and seasoned to perfection and the French Toast was sweet, savory, both yummy. The food and the views were everything! De'Keithlyn our server was welcoming and made us feel right at home. I can't wait to go back and add this to my rotation!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Cafe 44 for a while bc of the beautiful view so we came for brunch. I feel like we got the worst seat on the balcony, tucked in the back away from the water view. They wouldn't accommodate us moving to another spot closer to the water view. Boo sad. Another downfall of this place is the proximity to National airport. The frequent planes flying over make it hard to enjoy a conversation. Decor is really strange here... there's turf out on the balcony. Then onto the service and food... our server literally zoned out while my friend was ordering and said, "were you saying something?" Ummm really?! So rude. We had the 3 course brunch. Their biscuits were flavorless and pasty, the shrimp and grits had no seasoning and my poached egg was over cooked. Pretty meh. Overall, it took us about 3 hours to finish our meal (we didn't mind bc we were having fun, but not great service). I don't think the nice view (from some tables) makes it worthwhile to come eat here.

Yelp
Cafe 44!! So I've been to Café 44 before, pre-pandemic and had a chance to sit looking over the water- for restaurant week. This time we were more on the inside which was a good thing because it was super hot outside. They had so many delicious brunch options to choose from. We enjoyed a three course prefix menu ($35), where I had a house salad, an omelette with my own fixings (onion, spinach, Swiss cheese and chicken) - it came with potatoes and Affogato for dessert !! I love the interactiveness in preparing my Affogato, and can I add that everything was absolutely delicious! It was such a nice vibe! My girls and I had a chance to catch up . If you're in the North Virginia area you should definitely check them out! Keep up with me on my blog page doseofdev.com or my ig @dose_of_dev for the latest !
google avatar

Alyssa J.

Yelp
Came for a ladies brunch. I went with the three-course prix fixie. I also added on the house salad. The waitress came back often to make sure everything was okay at the table. Food was delivered hot. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5

Yelp
Let's start with a tip! You may pull up to the building and be slightly confused. That's how you know you are in the right place! Yes, the restaurant is at the top of an office building with an attached parking garage. When you go into the garage, follow the columns that have a green number "44" on them. Apparently there are several buildings attached to the garage (I learned this the hard way), but following the 44 will lead you to the correct building. Parking was $5 on a Thursday evening. Proof of vaccination is required to dine inside. There is an outside area over looking the river that looked pretty. The drinks were absolutely delicious! I tried two mocktails...the Hibiscus lemonade and tropical mojito. So sweet and refreshing! My friend tried the Boss Lady cocktail and really enjoyed it. The meatball appetizer was a fail for us. We sent it back. It was giving baby shower meatballs, but worse. Our entrées were so tasty! We had the short ribs and the Chilean sea bass. The entrées were $30-$32 each. The dessert menu looked amazing but we were full, so we passed. The staff was very friendly. Service was slow but the restaurant was packed as it was restaurant week. Overall, I plan to try this restaurant again for brunch.
google avatar

LoriLynn R.

Yelp
Decent food, great ambiance and views. We had the Chilean Sea Bass but they topped it with corn!!??? Not impressed. After scraping the corn off it was very well cooked with a decent flavor. The lobster ravioli is great!! Love Love it!! The service was extremely slow... I think he was out of his league on serving. He seemed overwhelmed. Took us 15 min. Just to get water to the table. His personality was good and he was trying along with not being in a hurry and enjoying the cool night and great views.

Yelp
For a Sunday brunch spot, this is a cute option to go to. My good girlfriend and I went here on a Sunday, made reservations via Open Table about 2-days prior to us meeting and had no issues with doing so. Information was sent to all parties regarding Covid-restrictions, time delays if they occur, vaccination status cards, parking and their updated payment options. Upon arrival, she and I both accessed the parking lot fairly easy and made it to the entrance within the 10 extra minute grace period. For some reason our server did not tend to our table until about 10 minutes into our experience. We took it upon ourselves to order the 3-course $35 Brunch special with 2 drinks (pictured), with the KC Omelette. The food, 3/5. I do feel as if it presented well, but did need some more seasoning to me. The experience, 3/5. My girlfriend and I did not have the best seat in the house - it was in the middle of the serving floor, where a lot of employees would pass bringing others items out & dishes in. There are actual waterfront seats inside and outside available. We just didn't get it. The actual location, 4/5. It's super cute, seems like it'd be a fun game day spot to go to as there was a tv at the bar. Overall 4/5 because of the prior communication given to parties (because a lot of spots don't do that now), and it wasn't HORRIBLE. Just simply okay. Could've been better, could've been worse.
google avatar

Marissa O.

Yelp
I've never had a bad meal here and you can't beat the views of the Potomac. My husband and I have dined here about 3 times now and we try to get something different each time. The service has also been top notch.

Yelp
Who doesn't like hidden gems? I know I do! This lil Cafe could not be in a more random location.. Top floor of an office building in Old Town but DEFINITELY not the popular part. The building is on the water which absolutely gives it all the pop it needs! We didn't have reservations for brunch but we came just in the knick of time to grab a table because it got PACKED 30min later.. Whewwww!!! Now to the food! We had the Belgian Waffle and Crab Cake Benedict respectively. Both were excellent!! Service was fast and friendly which is always a huge plus. I can't wait to go back but next time I'll avoid the stress and make that d*mn reservation.. Lol!!

Yelp
We happened upon this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Do not let the outside office building aesthetic fool you. There is an experience waiting for you through the lobby, up the elevator and around the corner. The ambiance is very cozy with a nice vibe. We sat outside, it was chilly but the heaters, a warm beverage and good company made the outdoor temperature bearable. We were seated on the patio right away. Our biscuits were light and fluffy (tasted like southern deliciousness). We ordered the spinach omelet, eggs benedict and breakfast burrito. The service was great, I felt bad for our assigned person because he was stretched so thin with tables indoors and outdoors, yet he was gracious and responsive. I will be retuning soon! PS. Fav parts-Proof of vax req for indoor diners and the view (we could see the National harbor and MGM)

Eydie Q.

Yelp
Went here for brunch. It was a bit of an odd location inside an office building at the edge of Old Town Alexandria. I was lucky enough to find street parking so I didn't need to pay the $5 for the parking garage. The place is nicely decorated and the view is spectacular. It's a bit loud inside but not off-putting. The brunch menu has a lot to offer and I ended up ordering the Lobster eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the country potatoes on the side were perfectly seasoned. It was a good portion of $25 but it could've used more lobster. The only negative was that our food took about 30 mins to arrive at our table. Our server was nice but I think he just forgot about us. The table next to us got served before we did and they sat down after us. So that was a bit disappointing. Overall it was a good brunch place and I liked that it wasn't in the heart of old town because it's crazy trying to get parking there in the weekends.
google avatar

Lani N.

Yelp
The location and views were incredible. We sat at the bar and every staff member were professional, attentive and welcoming. I had the lobster eggs benedict. The lobster was dry, it was ok. The potatoes that came with it were highly seasoned. I would still come back and try other items on the menu.

Rachael S.

Yelp
Great place for brunch and I loved the Charcuterie Board. Lobster Mac was okay but still other pretty good options on the menu. Amazing ambiance especially outside overlooking the Potomac. The service was amazing and the seating is a little tight but nothing uncomfortable.
google avatar

Maria T.

Yelp
We reserved with a party of 5 with friends, sat down immediately. Our seating was overlooking the water and sitting comfortably on the inside. Service is great. Get the mimosa carafe. Their salad and brunch was amazing. I want to come back soon!

Joony S.

Yelp
Just in time for summer! Sunday Brunch with a wonderful waterfront view. Waiter (Dan) was spot-on with his recommendations, providing us a nice sweet (French Toast Bread Pudding) and savory (Garden Truffle Flatbread) combination. Vibes are fantastic. A two hour table time flies by so quickly because of it. Definitely place a reservation ahead of time.
google avatar

Yelp
The best view in Northern,VA! Im a sucker for ambiance and Cafee 44 doesn't disappoint. I have gone for Happy Hour, Lunch, Brunch and Dinner! So im well known for their experience. This particular time I hosted a private event on the terrace for teachers! OMG we had a blast! Beautiful charcuterie display and heavy appetizers. They served plentiful beverages and allowed us to relax in the space. If you are looking for a perfect rooftop experience without the crowd try Cafe 44!
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Wife came here for happy hour with a friend and then suggested coming for dinner. It's located in the north side of Old Town so the crowds and lack of parking are not too severe. The menus offer many specialty drinks, appetizers and entrees with enough selection for most anyone. I had the beef short ribs served over mashed potatoes and it was excellent. Wife's salad was excellent too. Service was very good and helpful. We're going back in a couple of weeks to try brunch.
google avatar

Jazmin E.

Yelp
Cafe 44 is my go to spot for a great view, wine, and great food. There's a plethora of wine and champagne options. My favorite is the charcuterie options. Just imagine a winery but - in your backyard. The service is awesome. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Pro Tip- they do not accept cash as a form of payment but it's totally fine.
google avatar

Imani W.

Yelp
Tried the prix-fixe menus both times. The shrimp and grits are really decent. Bottomless mimosas are solid. The bread pudding French toasts were good but really sweet. The waiter could've been more attentive the second time around. The ambiance is cute and has a couple of places to take some nice pics.
google avatar

Trendy D.

Yelp
Outdoor dinning: 4/5 more so because of the ambiance. I went with the outdoor dinning option because it was 56° and sunny. With this said the heaters kept me warm enough with a light jacket. However, I was still a bit cold. Food: I ordered an omelette, lemonade champagne, and lobster bisque soup. I did the 3 course. Food 3.9/5. Food quality was good but bland. I think you get your money's worth this brunch option is $30. The soup was my favorite. The omelet was not bad but no wow factor. Service was great and views are amazing! I'd go back on a date.
google avatar

Kesha T.

Yelp
The indoor and outdoor ambiance is nice, the bright colors and cherry blossom décor is cheery and the view is great. We had a reservation for outdoor seating, thankfully under one of their umbrellas. The service left much to be desired. I'm not sure why it took so long for us to be acknowledged or provided water on a hot and sunny Sunday but be forewarned that although the place is pretty, the service...not so much. Even if you're not the server at a particular table, going out of your way to avoid eye contact is very off-putting. It would be nice to at the least notify the actual server to check on their table. On to the food... Although items are listed on the three-course prix-fixe menu, you can ask for them a la carte. I'm happy that I asked about this because my table wanted to mix and match to try a variety of items. While walking into the building I was recommended to try the Rose Lemonade - it did not disappoint - it is refreshing and not overly sweet. The sangria watermelon salad is small but full of flavor. The flatbread is huge. Much larger than we all expected but it was good. It ended up being the table favorite. There was an order of breakfast hash potatoes and deviled eggs, both tasty. My friend enjoyed her steak fajita omelet. The lobster roll was enjoyed as well although the chips were a little bland. The Lemon Panna Cotta with raspberry coulis was smooth and sweet - recommended to try. The extra star is for the Guinness Sea Salt Brownie. Although it's a small piece, the ooey-gooey, warm, melt in your mouth chocolate stole the show. It is soooo good. I think Cafe44 is worth a try if you pack your patience and want to see the view of the Potomac while sipping champagne and grabbing a bite to eat. There's a casual feel but there were a few customers that were a little more 'dressed up' possibly for a special occasion, which would be fitting. Online, Cafe44 is listed as a top happy hour spot and I'll probably check them out again at that time to see their offerings. Side note - Shout out to Kayla - During my initial visit, I didn't realize I was stopping by at the end of their dining service but I was immediately welcomed by her and she was very helpful with scheduling my reservation. I appreciate her kindness and energy although they were clearly busy. Although my actual dining experience was lacking in the service department, Kayla was the reason why I gave Cafe44 a shot. Sometimes it's as simple as acknowledgement to make a positive impression on someone.

Yelp
The perfect girls date!! It was a friends birthday so we decided to go to Cafe 44. The parking was limited so I parked in the parking garage. Plus the garage was near the restaurant. The restaurant is on the 4th floor and I followed the aroma to the door. The staff was super welcoming and the restaurant was not packed (we went on a Tuesday during happy hour). If you're looking for. Place with amazing views and good food I would highly recommend! The waiter mentioned it's crazy on the weekends, and you must book 2 weeks in advance for a weekend table. If you're available on a weekday I would highly recommend making a reservation.

Yelp
First time here, but others have told me I would be pleasantly surprised...and they are spot on. Cocktails were excellent, creative, and perfect execution. Cabin in the woods is a winner. Burrata with honeycomb, tomato, balsamic, sourdough points is a winner. The ceviche is also top notch. A sweeter style than typical, and a nice change. The crab &lobster ravioli is outstanding. Definitely go for the extra lobster option. Well worth the upgrade. The kind of place people have to know about bc it's not as if on the 4th floor of an office building they'll get walk-in foot traffic. Excellent sun blocking east view of the Potomac. $5 underground parking. Hard to beat. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This place is the cutest! I love the interior. It's so modern but cozy. The food was amazing. Anything I ever tried there is just superb! Last night we had a sea bass with cauliflower mash and asparagus which was sooo tasty! Also, the slow cooked ribs were insanely good! We loved our drinks and food. Will definitely be back. Our server, Marija, was the best! She was so sweet and charming. She recommended us all the food and made sure we had the best time. I would like to try their brunch as well!

Amanda W.

Yelp
The view of the area from their outdoor patio is the best. Their customer service was great as well. My server was a young lady with a unique name and she was very accommodating. We ordered the pepperoni flatbread and it was too crunchy for me. She made no excuses and put in a new order for me. The Garden Truffle flatbread was delicious. It was sweet and savory. The ingredients complimented each other well. We tried the shrimp and grits which were good but needed some extra seasoning.

Yelp
The view is absolutely worth it, just like all of the other reviews suggest. The food was hit and miss, but is on the right path. A lot of great concepts but I think failing a little in execution. The drinks are amazing and unique - we had the cabin in the woods and the apple cider mimosa. We ordered the price fixe menu so that we could try as much as possible. The lobster bisque doesn't look like much, but if I was reviewing for this alone then I would have given five stars. The flavor was incredible (and I've spent a lot of time in New England). The biscuit, being a southerner, was incredible. It was somehow flaky and doughy at the same time. The orange marmalade was sweet and the saltiness of the biscuit was perfectly off-setting. Unfortunately, this is where the lack of the fifth star came about. We ordered the lobster roll and the shrimp and grits. The lobster was lacking flavor but the bun was perfectly toasted with butter. You get huge pieces of lobster.. but I expected MUCH more flavor after trying the bisque. The shrimp and grits were.. blah? I'm not sure how else to describe them. There was no kick and the grits were kind of rubbery. Lastly, we had the key lime pie. It tasted homemade, the crust was really buttery and the lime was acidic the way it should be. The meringue was a bit over the top but it was toasted so that helped. Overall, we would try this place again. The views, the service, and the drinks will bring us back hoping that our main course will be better executed.

Yelp
The view is amazing and is the highlight of this place. 5 stars The food was decent, but the menu is relatively small (and different than on their website but that is ok). The linguine was good. Side of lobster was ok. 3 stars Service. Though the service person was very nice and I understand the possibility of being short staffed our waters were never refilled. I had a cocktail and would have gotten a second but service was slow and was worries about the time a cocktail may take to arrive so I ordered a glass of wine with dinner instead. This did not arrive until after I had finished my dinner, the service person delivered my wine as she took away my entree. So thats no water / no wine with my dinner.

Yelp
This was my first visit to this establishment and I was told at our arrival (not prior when booking reservation nor when called to confirm) that we had to sit outside due to lack of proof of vaccination. Not that it would of been a problem but we weren't prepared and it's cold outside. When speaking to Kayla, the manager she assured us that it was on the website (OpenTable to be exact) and that there was nothing else available. It's not on either. And I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with her sorry not sorry attitude. If her attitude was better I would of been willing to try again another day but I will not be back. Also to add the heaters was trashed and not producing enough heat for how cold it was outside.

Yelp
I have been here for both brunch (only on the weekends) and for regular lunch. First I have to point out the VIEWSSS here. This restaurant is located at the top of the building and it's right next to a lake. If you sit outside you get a gorgeous view and sometimes see boats floating by. Even if you sit inside the windows are huge and it allows a lot of natural light. I love the classy vibe here, it's truly my type of place. Absolutely perfect for brunch! Regarding the food, it was very flavorful and you can tell the chefs take their time plating which I really appreciate because I like to instagram my meals. If you're a brunch lover like me please go check them out and make sure to take some pictures while you're there! For more trendy restaurants reviews follow me on tiktok @daiannathegeminii!

Yelp
This is great little spot! The outdoor seating area has a very nice view and plenty of shade. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to recommend some great items to order. He was friendly and quick to bring us whatever was needed. The inside decor is nicely done and has an area for large groups. The bar has plenty of seating and is spacious enough to eat there as well. Just know ladies...if you're sitting outside please bring a small purse! They don't have additional seating and the backs of the chairs are made in a way that your bag will slide off. The manager was gracious enough to bring me a booster seat for my purse!

Yelp
I'm so glad I found Cafe 44 through Yelp- its a great little hidden jem nestled away from the bustle of King Street, and has awesome views of the Potomac (both DC and MD)! I've frequented this spot more than a few times now and have found that they really have a top notch drink menu with lots of unique and interesting drink options. If you're into bourbon, consider their Cabin in the Woods drink - it's complex and smokey and so unique! I'm not as much of a fan of their food - it gets the job done, but it's a little pricy for the portion size. However, service has always been nice, and you really can't beat a view with a great cocktail in hand. Cafe 44 remains a favorite spot that I will continue to frequent!

Yelp
Had brunch with my girlfriends a few weeks ago and this place was amazing. We were seated on the balcony, it wasn't too cold plus there were heaters outside. View was beautiful! Service 5 stars. I had the 3 course prix fixe menu:- southern buttermilk biscuit, shrimp & grits & the brûléed cheesecake. Everything was phenomenal! Only minor issue was because we were out on the balcony in the coolness the grits got extremely thick fast... also ask for extra of the cream sauce because it's so yummy!

Yelp
This is a super cute date place. The food is good and it has a magnificent view outside. Make sure you get reservations in advance though, or you may be forced to enjoy it from inside. I visited on a Wednesday night and it was still busy. Service was a bit slow at first, but other than that everything went very well (including the delicious pizza). Likely because of COVID they use QR codes for you to peruse the menu, and everything is done via credit card - this is a no-cash experience.

Yelp
Everything was 10/10 from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. We were able to grab a last minute afternoon reservation and we asked to sit outside and wow, amazing views! Tony was our server and he was absolutely amazing. He gave us history about the restaurant and was really great energy overall. The food and drinks were amazing, but wow the restaurant is decorated beautifully and very clean- AND if you get the chance to sit outside on a beautiful day even better! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
What a great time we had at a late brunch today, celebrating a friend's birthday! We arrived a bit early for our 3 pm reservation but we were seated right away. Our waiter Kai knew the assignment and got bevies started as soon as we sat down. The view of the water was nice, despite it being a gray and blustery day. We had the biscuits with honey butter (So light and fluffy), shrimp and grits, garden truffle flatbread, and lobster roll. They were all delicious but my favorite was the flatbread. It was a big serving! We had the French toast bread pudding for dessert and it was decadent! You cannot come here and not try it! Finally, I have to tell you that we had the best waiter. Kai was so friendly, and had plenty of stories about the food and restaurant. We were so full afterwards that a walk along the water sounded like a good idea. What a great idea because it was beautiful! This is a great spot for a gathering.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant due to a private event on their wrap around patio. What great views! Staff very gracious and attentive. Food: Crab dip excellent. We had appetizers for affair so didn't get to try that much from menu. All were good except for the smoked salmon. Not too tasty. Read reviews for brunch and will be returning a few more times this summer. Drinks: Very good try grand margarita and huckleberry lemonade. Good selection of wines.

Yelp
This would have been a five star review, but the avocado on the toast was so salty that I couldn't eat it. I ended up scraping it off and enjoying the house made bread. Other than that, it was a great dining experience. Tasty brunch drinks - I recommend the rose lemonade, and very tasty biscuits! We also ordered the lobster roll. Because everything else we ordered was so delicious, I'm only docking one star for the inedibly salty avocado. I suppose it's also non-optimal that the restaurant doesn't validate parking. The view is outstanding. Service was great. We'll be back!
