"Meg Bickford, who will become the head chef at Commander's Palace, was formerly the head chef at Cafe Adelaide. The restaurant was a 15-year-old establishment located in the Loews Hotel downtown but closed shortly after she was tapped for the role in 2018." - Clair Lorell

"After 15 years, the party is ending for Café Adelaide, the Commander’s Family of Restaurants eatery named for Adelaide Brennan, Ella Brennan’s lively sister who never descended her staircase before 3 p.m., wore perfume to bed each night, and whose idea of “casual” was no sequins. The restaurant and the adjoining Swizzle Stick Bar, both in the Loews Hotel, will close their doors on August 24, according to a press release. While the Brennan family celebrated the past in honoring Adelaide’s over-the-top life, it also pushed cocktails into the future. As with its sister restaurant, SoBou, the bartender took a bigger role at Adelaide as the “bar chef.” The idea was that cocktails could pair with food just as well as wine, a concept the family will continue to explore as it celebrates 125 years of Commander’s Palace with a symposium on American cuisine and hospitality in September." - Stephanie Carter

Went there for brunch. Food was delicious and moderately priced. Drinks were delicious. Waiter however never smiled once and just had an all around couldn't be bothered attitude. Despite his less than pleasant demeanor we still tipped 15% and I guess he wasn't happy with that. He basically followed us out of the restaurant saying thank you sarcastically multiple times. So rude. Too bad. Food was great and would have gone back.

The food here is good, but not up to sister restaurant Commanders. We went here for a holiday lunch and the staff was welcoming and prompt. There were carolers, but it was so noisy that they weren't really very audible.

Fully expecting this place to be completely overpriced for average fare with that pretentious feel you get from restaurants in expensive hotels *cough* Any place in California *cough*. I was completely wrong in my expectations. The staff was very friendly and welcoming to all, the food was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was stellar. Came in for Saturday brunch and had the turtle soup with a slaw/pulled pork/poached eggs over a biscuit. First time having turtle and it was so good that I fear for any other place I ever buy it again. It’s the same recipe that is served at Commander’s Palace. Just excellent. Prices for everything on the menu were reasonable to under-priced and I’ll recommend the place to anyone who asks about cuisine in NOLA in the future. Special note: Sat brunch + wearing a hat (just not a ball cap) = 2 Martinis for $0 extra. Gin or vodka, mixed or straight up. Great way to get going in the Big Easy.

First time at Cafe Adelaide for brunch and it was an interesting experience. I came with a large, it was 5 people, party and we noticed fast that service was a tad slow to begin with, but after that it was all good. The food was the perfect balance of spice and melt in your mouth. I had the strawberry salad and The Boucherie Bisket and I definitely recommend that to anyone. Also! If you come to brunch with a hat, not a baseball cap, you'll get three free hat themed drinks! It's a nice place to go for brunch if you're that far in the city and looking for great eats.

The quality of food here is amazing, and you can't go wrong with 25¢ martinis for lunch! The best fries I've ever had, everything else was just perfect. It's expensive but the specials are a good deal

Spicy, sweet, and touch of smoke well balanced with perfectly cooked grits.Great job all around great teamwork on floor/servers/managers. Great way to start your Sunday after Saturday night.
