After spending quite a bit of time in Cincinnati before my fiancé, now husband, moved my way, it was not hard to decide on my favorite restaurant in town - Cafe Alma is it, hands down!
Now I will say, while I have zero complaints about any food or drink item here, I've only been impressed with service once, and it was the young man's last day. Servers typically seem so overwhelmed, they seemingly forget about tables and aren't the happiest to be stopped when you need something. If this could be ever so slightly tweaked, it would be fantastic. Also, finding parking here isn't easy, but there's a lot of street parking within a few blocks. Be prepared to walk a little as the tiny parking lot for about 10 cars is always packed full and impossible (too small) to turn around in.
Of things I love here (everything?!), the coffee flight and kombucha flight are wonderful with such a fantastic flavor variety. But the hummus with the homemade served-warm challah? Woah, it's hard to describe just how fantastic it is every. single. time! The side of roasted apples with cinnamon is a must try, like comfort food you don't want to stop indulging in, with a healthier twist (an apple a day, ya know?!). They also have excellent soup and their veggie burger (not our normal go-to) is very delicious and packed with flavor. Meat options are limited here but don't let that stop you, the dishes without meat are so good and so filling, you won't miss it.
While the waiting area is tiny, with only one couch that could fit 3-4 people, there's a main dining area and another area down a couple stairs where drinks are made, along with a pastry case (options sell out quickly after they open).
Highly, highly recommend checking out my favorite place when in the Queen City - your taste buds will thank you endlessly!
