"Its strapline, “the flavour of the market”, says it all! This friendly restaurant in the Pazo de Altamira hotel (with its own entrance and independent management) comes as a pleasant surprise with its decor of light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, unusual bottle racks and colourful tableware by Sargadelos, all of which create a rustic yet vintage feel. At its large tables designed for sharing, discover pleasantly updated traditional cooking with plenty of personality and a philosophy that showcases the flavours of Galician cuisine (we particularly enjoyed the lightly roasted mackerel with “ajoblanco” and cherry-ponzu tomato) both on the à la carte and its enticing tasting menus (Ameas and Altamira). The restaurant’s location right next to the busy food market also ensures that its ingredients are of the highest quality." - Michelin Inspector

Nice setting, but mixed experience with the food The restaurant has a great location and cozy atmosphere. Some dishes were quite good, but others lacked real flavor or creativity. The wine list is decent and offers good options. Overall, the experience was fine, but not memorable from a culinary point of view.

Went here the day after the Camino for a lunch post-Market-crawling. Really exceptional food with creativity and passion evident. Nice wine list, and you can see why it's Michelin-guided. The contrast between the Pulpo Gallego across the street, with its rustic traditional finish, and the elevated twist this place put on it was especially cool to see.

Jose and his colleagues are very nice. The mackerel and ponzu tomatoes cherries are scrumptious. Went twice just to eat that. Scallops and king prawns were nice

Fresh ingredients and well executed dishes. Interesting starters with citrus flavours to complement the seafood.

We were lucky to passed by the restaurant while in Santiago. The food was excellent from the start. I have never tasted olives that good before. Croquettes, main dishes and dessert were all great. The best part is the price were very reasonable and the owner served food and poured the wine himself. Very homey eating with locals alike. Definitely recommended.

Tasting menu for €35 was delicious. See photos for the menu. All interesting but nothing off the wall. Highlights were the tuna carpaccio and the pork(?!) meatball. Staff were very efficient. Definitely worth booking.

Very nice establishment with great service. The white asparagus dishes was superb. For mains we had the solomillo and a beef ribs special. Meat was very good and the solomillo (filet mignon) "a punto" (medium) as ordered. For both dishes I've found the sauce to be overpowering and somewhat taking away from the underlying quality of the meat. Great wine list.

Went with my family recently. We were a big group and decided on the group menu which ended up being a tasting menu with 7 courses for only 29 euros. Amazing value for the freshness and quality of the food. No wonder it's fresh because it's so near the market. Every dish was surprisingly amazing. The highlights for me were the tomato & watermelon amuse bouche, scallops, and pork main with a sweet-ish sauce. YUM. My 7yo liked the steak and potatoes. We paired it with Ribiero & it was perfect. So good! I can highly recommend the tasting menu and the wine. The massive windows which opens to the street above allowed cool air to come in and was super nice coz it was quite hot in summer. Be sure to call or book a table online to be sure so you get a table.

Yelp
One of the culinary highlights on my last visit to Santiago. Went for lunch and tried, between me and my boyfriend, the dishes from the daily menu - 2 starters, 2 mains, plus dessert. And this was definitely a very good choice, as everything seemed to be very fresh - they are located just across a public market, after all - and well prepared. The seasonality of their menu is paired perfectly with modern, inspired flavours, but it also respects those things that time established and perfected: good cheeses, a beautiful wine menu and, for me one of the most crucial details, good, freshly baked bread, that they slice in your view. And the space itself is gorgeous, ample and contemporary, with a bold use of proportion and color. There's also the convoluted, yet extremely comfortable, furniture. Truly nice architecture and interiors work, enhanced by the jazzy music. The staff is knowledgeable about the food and has an easygoing, elegant way of making you feel welcome. My only reservation about the whole experience was the portion size: some dishes were very generous while others were quite small, and this wasn't from a tapas menu. We were sharing everything so that wasn't a problem at the time. Very good value overall and I hope that it's still around next time I'm in Santiago.

Yelp
Great place, great people, great food. Situated in the Alamira hotel (which looked nice, didn't stay here) this somewhat modern looking restaurant is on the edge of old town by the market. How I got here is half the story; intended to go to Occuro da Parra but without reservations we had no shot. The owner, rather than just turn us away, personally walked us to his 2nd restaurant (this place) and personally made sure we got a table and a complimentary drink (incredible hospitality!!). The food was pretty darn good too, had the galician beef (which didn't look like much when it came out, but it tasted great - very juicy) and a fish special (cannot recall what kind, but fantastic, the cut was the tail which gave it some thickness). The owner went above and beyond, instructing his staff to give us a small craft of house made liquor which gave a nice buzz to say the least (after a bottle of wine).
