The Best Italian Restaurants in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Cafe Antonio Bistro and Bar in Morrisville offers all of your Italian culinary favorites for lunch and dinner. Appetizer options include multiple calamari choices, an impressive salad selection — Cobb, arugula, and Caesar are a few choices — and bruschetta, both original and seafood style. When it’s time to decide on a main course, offerings such as fettuccine alfredo, linguini and clam sauce, and spinach ravioli fill the pasta roster while beef and poultry dishes of chicken parmigiana, chicken florentine, and veal sorrento are excellent options as well." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Excellent spot tucked away on a busy street. Clean, decorated exterior, with a modern, yet classy interior. Amazing service and high quality furniture, lighting, and decoration. Very wide menu from seafood to pasta and everything in between. Great house salads and dessert. Definitely worth the price.

My family and I hosted my daughter’s 1 year birthday party!! It was a such a memorable night for us. Staff was amazing, food was even better! On top of that, we reserved the party all the way out from Texas ! It’s my childhood restaurant btw lol everything went well, if I could give this place more than 5⭐️ then I would! I highly recommend 👍🏽

I had an amazing lunch at Café Antonio! The mushroom soup was rich, creamy, and so comforting, setting the perfect tone for the meal. The grilled chicken was spot on—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. And the Alfredo fettuccine with shrimp? Absolutely delicious, with fresh, tender shrimp that any seafood lover would appreciate. To top it off, the coffee was smooth and the perfect end to the meal. The ambiance at the place was warm and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home. I’ll definitely be back for more of their delicious food and great atmosphere!

Google
Our favorite spot for an impromptu family date night. There is a formal dining room, but we opted for a booth in the bar area. We ordered wine and a cocktail from the happy hour menu and both ordered the Chicken Parm. Served with fresh Italian bread, house salad with a vinegary balsamic, and saucy angel hair pasta, we were beyond content with our meal (and overall experience). Simple everything, yet good. It cracked me up when we tried to order a Negroni and the bartender had no idea what it was!

Google
Had a delicious birthday dinner with my husband here. Service and atmosphere were outstanding, as always, and the food was superb! There are vegetarian options to choose from and they also have a loyalty program you can sign up for, too. I have been going here for years and look forward to many fabulous meals here in the future. Highly recommend this local eatery!

Google
The food here is quite good. The establishment features two areas. One for dine-in service and another that functions more like a takeout with seating available, where you can also choose to eat. I had the grilled chicken salad, which was good. Their homemade bread was soft, warm, and delicious.

Google
This is my first time here- came for dinner with 5 others. Menu selection is diverse and appealing. I had the sea bass with shrimp in a garlic sauce. It was excellent, cooked perfectly. The linguini seafood special looked great. Wine selection is perfect. I didn’t get desert but the desert menu is large- the molten chocolate cake will be on my list next time.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place consistently for the past 21 years, and it has never let me down. They make their bread fresh in-house, which makes a huge difference. Over the years, I've tried a wide range of their offerings, from pasta dishes and salads to pizza and cheesesteaks and every single one has been excellent. The quality and consistency keep me coming back. This place truly does not disappoint.

Yelp
Eh. I really wanted to love Cafe Antonio because it was recommended to me by my hairdresser. Unfortunately, the service ruined any chance of us coming back. Upon being seated, it took about ten minutes for anyone to come take our order. When a waitress realized that nobody had come over to service, she said she would find someone. The waitress who did end up serving us seemed to be training someone. Even with the two of them, though, it took forever to get refills on drinks and anything else we needed. By the time we finally got the check, we couldn't wait to get out of there. The salad was quite good with fresh ingredients and a nice dressing on the side. The pizza was not my favorite, but it was decent and my husband enjoyed it. The atmosphere is casual with a somewhat cheesy Italian vibe, but if it weren't for the service, I would have maybe found it charming.

Yelp
WOW. We were BLOWN AWAY by this place! My boyfriend and I wanted some Italian food and found this place just over the PA border and went for it. This quickly became a favorite restaurant of ours before they even brought the appetizers! First off, the atmosphere was casual and upscale at once-- we had come here spontaneously so we weren't dressed up and we didn't feel out of place, but the table settings and fun decor felt like the right level of elegance to enjoy this great meal. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in to ensure we were having a great meal, and our waters were always filled. Now, the best part: food! There were at least 25 menu options we got excited about and eventually we narrowed it down to the bacon wrapped scallops with an INCREDIBLE pesto honey mustard sauce, veal sorrento which my boyfriend really liked, and Chef Chris's Grilled Salmon which was AWESOME. The salmon is perfectly grilled with baby shrimp, crab meat, tomatoes, and basil on top. Literally INCREDIBLE. It comes in a garlic cream sauce with broccoli rabe (made RIGHT! not bitter at all!) on the side. We had so much fun dining here, and noticed a casual fare deli side to the place that we'll have to check out the next time we're back! Which is bound to be soon!

Yelp
What a gem I found after a wonderful afternoon at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial to watch the Nutcracker! We came here for an early dinner and what a delight it was. The bartender was able to make us a couple of mojito mocktails (mango -- yum!) that was delicious and the discovery of "pasta purses" became my new all time fave! Now I want it from every Italian restaurant. The stuffed mushrooms was an awesome treat, since I've never had it stuffed with sausage, and that rose cream sauce is incredible. The stuffed bread was also amazing, with some veggies and more sausage. Couldn't have asked for a better meal. I would most definitely come again if I'm in the neighborhood. It was fantastic and I still think about it weeks later.

Yelp
Every time we go, we are never disappointed. They did an upgrade to their dining room. It has a nice, family feel to it. The food and service are always good. The coconut margarita was refreshing with a crisp lime flavor. The mussels Basilico are in a creamy pesto sauce that I could eat with a spoon when I'm done with the mussels. The mussels were large and fresh. The dinner special of shrimp Imperial stuffed with lump crab in a vodka sauce were absolutely amazing. The seafood pasta purses have shrimp, crab and scallops in a creamy vodka suit with shitaki mushrooms. The purses are filled with ricotta and are my usual go to when I'm there. We love this place. Make a rez and head on over.

Yelp
I love that this place has both a pizzeria/hoagie section and a separate sit-down restaurant--it's such a cool setup! Everything looked and smelled amazing. We ordered five hoagies to-go, and they did a fantastic job getting everything right. Their house made hoagie roll is delicious! The young woman behind the counter was so friendly and welcoming with every customer. Her positive energy really made the whole experience even better!

Yelp
Had an excellent meal here after attending the Nutcracker at Patriot's Theater across the river. Came based on a recommendation from a friend. Staff was very friendly! Restaurant is all decorated for the holidays! It was very festive! Everyone enjoyed their meal-I had the meatball parm sandwich which was reasonably priced and delicious. The roll was soft and fresh. Yum! We came around 3pm-don't hesitate to ask for lunch menu if they bring you dinner menu.

Yelp
This restaurant is located right past the Calhoun bridge in Morrisville, PA. It has parking along the front and sides of the restaurant. They also have more parking on the hill right next door. Its a small place compared to other restaurants and they have small tables to accommodate more people. I went here during my company's holiday luncheon so this was the first time I ever visited the restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Francese and a Sprite. I think the entree tasted fine but in my opinion its overpriced. The entree came with spaghetti pasta the cost was 17 dollars at the time of my review. I'm not picky but if your are going to charge 17 dollars then be generous with the portion. They gave bread to start, but I ended up asking for more since it wasn't fulfilling. My co workers was shy about asking for more, but they ended up eating more bread too. I don't mind paying for good food but give me a good portion size. If not the food better taste spectacular, somethings gotta give here. Overall, the food tasted fine but nothing that says wow. Service was great but the food didn't do it for me.

Lore G.

Yelp
I had the cavatelli a'la vodka (excellent) my husband had the veal parm (ok) we liked the wine (Chianti ) and loved the tirmasu for desert - Our waiter was attentive, we were lucky to get a seat, the place was mobbed on a Saturday night.

Yelp
Have been hearing about this place for YEARS and finally visited yesterday. I was NOT disappointed! We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and asked if we wanted seating in the bar area or the dining room. We opted for the bar area so we could watch the game as there were several TVs. We were seated in a booth with a view of 2 TVs. Drinks were great! I had a peach margarita. It came with a Tajin run, but I don't like Tajin and asked for a sugar rim and they had no problem fulfilling my request. We were given 2 menus, 1 for lunch and 1 for dinner. I ordered from the dinner menu because it came with soup or salad. But let's talk about the 2 baskets of warm bread first and how I could've eaten my weight in bread alone. Good heavens it was sooooo good! I had the chicken corn chowder soup and didn't even touch the crackers that came with because the bread was sooooo good. They probably didn't need to wash the bowl after I was done because I wiped it clean with the bread! For our meal, my daughter ordered the lobster ravioli topped with shrimp. I ordered the chicken champagne. Those were the most tender chicken cutlets I have ever had and it was DELICIOUS!! We didn't have room for dessert, but looked at the dessert menu and there were some pretty tempting items on there. Service was great from start to finish, from the hostess to the server, to the bartender. Can't wait to go back!!

Brooke C.

Yelp
Always great service and consistently good food. Lobster ravioli and vodka rigatoni are our go- tos!

Yelp
This was our first time dining at Cafe Antonio's and our experience was fantastic. The restaurant was recently remodeled and clean. We don't feel rushed and our server was friendly and pleasant. Our appetizers, salad, entrees and desserts were spectacular. Can't wait to dine here again.

Yelp
Undercooked meatballs. Have to be the worst meatballs I have ever had, mostly breading, no seasoning, and undercooked. How do you undercook a meatball? I messaged the restaurant through their website and got no response.
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
The food was mediocre at best. I would personally not come back. Ordered the clams with wine sauce for an appetizers. The food came fast but wasn't not it. The tinest clams ever and the white wine sauce was not good at all. Way too lemony and not enough garlic (this is coming from a lemon lover). For entrees we ordered the chicken parm alla vodka and another chicken dish. Again I wasn't impressed. The only good thing was the bread but still not the best bread I've had. For 75+ dollars after tip I would not come back, it wasn't worth the price
google avatar

Trent B.

Yelp
I always get take out from here so hard to review in restaurant but they are always good and consistent. I've never had a problem with their food and I've had it for almost 10+ years. Good for Italian takeout.
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I really enjoyed the service and the food I was extremely impressed that this place sat us at 10 and we were out by 1030 on a Saturday night. Just awesome spot. The food was excellent. I would def eat here again. I'd love to try the flatbreads next time

Kelly W.

Yelp
I've been going here since 2011 everything this is good Pasta and marinara are fresh Staff very friendly This is the only non chain Italian food I go to in NJ
google avatar

Rich T.

Yelp
Food and service were fantastic. Vodka rigatoni with a very generous portion of perfectly grilled chicken. Yesika was great. She was patient and knowledgeable and gave us good recommendations. Looking forward to going back already.
google avatar

Ian N.

Yelp
Eaten here two or three times, food is mediocre at best... A lot of my entrees have come out watery, guaranteed to probably spend an hour there because service is not very fast and waiters disappear all the time and don't come back... Every time I've been there there's huge tables with very loud Italian families, I don't know if it's just my luck but it's inaudible trying to talk too whoever I'm in the restaurant with when the loud groups are there. Pricing for what you get is very expensive. Try it out, maybe it will be better for you
google avatar

Antonio D.

Yelp
Fantastic cheesesteak, very good whiskey sour. Service and atmosphere also pretty great. Will definitely return to try the dining room

Yelp
Cafe Antonio is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. From the drinks to main course to dessert was phenomenal. The beer flight came with 4 5oz drinks for only $12. The white pizza was the best ricotta pie I've ever had. The cheesesteak empanadas blew my mind with flavor and the cheese sauce it comes with is perfectly spiced and yummy. The cheesecake was so creamy and the espresso martini was very strong in coffee. Will come again.

Bill B.

Yelp
First time visiting this location and the service was amazing (Dusty), the food was awesome, the pricing was more than fair, the portions were nice, the ambience was nice. I strongly recommend and we will be back.

ellie m.

Yelp
My parents love this place but I find it mediocre at best. after a bad shrimp scampi (and long night on the toilet), I tried again with a chicken parm sandwich that looked like it had one measly piece of chicken on it. to me, not worth it but again, my parents love it

Marvin J.

Yelp
Drinks and food are great, the seafood pasta purses are my go to and the salmon Caesar is my go to lunch

Stacy H.

Yelp
called to make a pick up order and the girl on the phone was rude as fuck and whenever we made comments about changes we wanted made to the things we ordered, she would comment "bruh" under her voice as if we couldn't hear her. absolutely ridiculous.

Lauren G.

Yelp
One of my hands down favorite Italian restaurants - I am vegetarian and love their pasta alla puttanesca is an all time fav (it might be off menu at times, but you can still order it). We ordered catering from them for my family birthday party and everyone was raving about the food. The owner delivered to our house 25 minutes away and made sure everything was laid out on the table with such care. Chicken scarpiello and penne all vodka (no prosciutto) were big hits as well. Love love love this place. Never a bad meal, many a memory made here.

Yelp
Great, extensive menu great, delicious food wonderful staff competitive price range (well worth it!) treat yourself to a delicious Italian meal

Yelp
Great place to relax, listen to classic Sinatra and Nat King Cole, and have a wonderful dinner. Staff and service are 1st class too. Chicken Parm and Lasagna are excellent and at a reasonable price. Add a nice bottle of wine for under $30 too. A don't miss restaurant in Morrisville PA!

The Local Guide P.

Yelp
We started with Mussel Basilio 4 star Side sald 4 star Seafood Pasta Purses 4 Bread 2 star The place was crowded, so it was VERY loud. It probably wouldn't have been if the larger tables weren't as loud. It was very hard to place the order and even talk to my wife. The service was slow and not attentive. We ordered Drinks and Mussels and place our order for Seafood Pasta purses. The drinks came out with our Mussels and I had to remind the server that I also get a salad. He leves only to return asking what sald and dressing I wanted. If he would have written it down he would have known. The Mussels were in a basil cream sauce the was luke warm, the over all flavor was very delicious. However I haven't been to many places where they don't have a empty bowl for the shells. The Seafood Pasta Purses were filled with fontana cheese and prosciutto and topped with shrimp crab meat , scallops and mushrooms in a vodka cream sauce. The meal was thrown in a bowl, so don't expect it to be nicely presented. It was very good some of the best Pasta I have had in a while. So the place has good food but service and the loud atmosphere is not so good. My father-in-law had chicken parm and was lacking sauce, it took some time to get the waitress to our table because he asked the person. Cleaning the table to get more sauce and that didn't happen. Finally he was able to get the whole meal reheated.

Yelp
We thought this place was really nice we were greeted by a very friendly host who shared the summer drink specials with us.Dennis the bartender was really helpful as well.We stopped here in our travels back to MD unfortunately everyone got sick before we could make it back.We got the seafood soup which is cream based.Fresh mozzarella in pesto sauce & brisket tacos

B E L.

Yelp
We have eaten there 3 times. The 1st time we waited almost an hour for water and menus, even after speaking to our waiter several times. When our food finally came after another long wait, mine was under-cooked and partially raw. I was offered a chance to order another entree but thought if it took so long the first time, it would be just as long the second time. The manager was talking to other tables to see how they were doing but never approached our table. We weren't charged for my meal, but weren't offered or comped for coffee or dessert either. We tried again a few months later with another long wait and this time the food was overcooked. I ate some but was sick as soon as I got home. We tried again with friends and had another long wait, badly cooked food and again poor wait service. Once again I was sick when I got home. Three times and they're out. We haven't been back since. Do not go to this place, you might be subjected to what we were.

Yelp
Love Cafe Antonio...it's my go to lunch spot while at work. Everything is so good...pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches...whatever you choose you cannot go wrong. Their bread is so warm and delicious. The ambiance is spectacular. It's like going on a mini vacation on your lunch break.

Alexis H.

Yelp
I ordered chicken apolo is & it was horrible . The chicken was drained in a watery , no flavor suppose to be garlic flavor sauce , noodles also has no flavor& was very dry, not to mention it was served on the side . Mushrooms were not cooked, tomatoes looks like they were taken off a hoagie and threw inside. everything was terrible. I wish I could upload a picture of the mess . I wasted my money on this horrible meal . I will not be a returning customer.

Megumi A.

Yelp
Great food and customer service. Love their dinner bread. Very clean and cute Italian ambiance. Nice authentic Italian food. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We ate in the pizza part, not the restaurant. There were still plenty of tables to sit at. They offered fountain or bottled soft drinks, individual bottles of beer or 6 packs. They are a BYOB only for wine. They do have a full bar in the restaurant side. There were 8 of us so we ordered 3 large pies. We got a margherita, primavera ( veggie ) and a white pie with half spinach. It seemed to take awhile before our pizza was done, but it was definitely worth it. It could have been that I was starving too. The pizza was hot, fresh & the bottom & crust was nice and crispy. Just the way I like it. I had the margherita & primavera. I will definitely be ordering them again next time I go back. This side also serves pasta, Stromboli's, cheesesteaks, hoagies. All the foods you would find at any other pizza place. I especially liked the adults could enjoy a nice cold beer with lunch.

Smart Shopper A.

Yelp
Booked my daughter's communion luncheon in the front area by the hostess stand because of the beautiful decor, ambiance and space. When we arrived, they moved our table to the back area, which was dark and next to very loud party of 50. We were jammed against a wall and could barely hear each other talk. I told the manager several times how upset I was, but nothing was done to help improve the experience. They got our money and that was all they cared about. I went back later and explained that I would've never kept my reservation there, if they had called me and let me know they bumped my party for someone else's. I'm a local, and after this, I won't be ordering from or going there anymore.
google avatar

Nito M.

Yelp
They sent some soggy old behind fries and had the nerve to charge $5 for them. Ceasar wrap was as flavorless as it looks.

Dana C.

Yelp
Great restaurant for special occasions Seafood Bruschetta is excellent . We're regular customers for the past 15 years.

Patrick F.

Yelp
Just stopped in for lunch and the place was packed. I was able to get a seat at the Bar. I order the mussels and veal sorrento and it was excellent. Give this place a try.

Yelp
We came here for a 90th bday celebration and overall had a great experience. The decor is rustic Mediterranean and gives you the impression that you are in a town square in a small village. The wait staff was very friendly and service was professional. The two types of bread were both enjoyed, but the "pizza" bread was the clear winner. There are Italian staples as well as new American, and our table partook of both. Trish selected chicken Francese and loved it, I tasted and agreed that this was a very good version. Tender and nicely coated fowl was paired with fettuccine. The sauce was a delicious garlic and white wine creation. Her only complaint was the small pasta portion. I tried veal parm and did not love it. The breading would have been good had it been cooked better and not soggy. The meat was ok, but my main dislike was in the red sauce. It was very sweet, and not enough spices to balance it out. The few party members who ordered seafood dishes were happy but I did not sample and cannot confirm the quality. I think the only way I would return would be for a large gathering, they have the space and well trained staff to accommodate groups even on weekend nights. They are BYOB, but only for wine, if you don't want to bring any, wine and beer are available. Valet parking here, many regulars seemed to be parking elsewhere to avoid it. 5 stars for my favorite uncle's 90th, 3.5 for a varied and overall good meal. If you like sweet red sauce you might even go a tad higher.

Tricia G.

Yelp
A special man's milestone birthday brought us here. I was in love with the owner's restored Vespa greeting as we arrived! (I want a red one & love them!) & quaint decor overall. Our waiter was friendly, efficient & won me over by going out of his way climbing on things to get the group photo that I requested. I really enjoyed the pizza type of complimentary bread with dinner. (Cristy plain w butter came out too.) The salad was plain but good (glad they had Thousand Island). My chicken francese was very good. Thin and tender w a light tasty sauce . I got a side of fettuccini that was very good as well - just not enough ;) A few staff came out with the birthday boy's cake lit &'sang to him with us - one even posed the cake for us for pictures! more points! Vince enjoyed his chicken parm and pasta but wasn't thrilled w the sweet-ish red sauce. One of the fish specials looked like art and the party goer gave it props. Everyone seemed satisfied and happy. The ultimate goal!

Yelp
Hadn't been back in a while and figured we dine again. Just recall that my wife felt their tomato sauce was too sweet; still is. PS-- Tiffany is a rock star -- great server, good listener, good experience manager!!! My wife ordered the linguine with clams in white sauce, the whole clams were fresh and good however the chopped claims in the white sauce were chewy rubber bits. Before we even were able to describe that to Tiffany she took the plate and told us what my wife was going to tell her. Funny about that..... guess its not an uncommon complaint. hence, means they use some poor choice ingredients. Tiffany swapped the dish for shrimp parmigiana, very good and to our surprise a little old school style preparation.... butterflying the shrimps. nice touch. I ordered the Lake Victoria Perch (fish), no pasta, substituted in broccoli rabe which was perfect Very good dish. A consistent place, a local place, fair pricing. Good dedicated wait staff.

Yelp
Friendly good service. Went there to celebrate the christening of our little grandson's christening and Mother's Day. We were the first people in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly. After about 15 minutes the place was packed, Mother's Day issue. The place being filled to capacity did not compromise the service. The waitress was very on top without overwhelming us. The food was perfect. Starting with the bread nice, soft and warm. It was accompanied by flavorful compound butter. I had the lobster ravioli. It was divine and the perfect portion. My husband had the Chilean sea bass. I had a taste wow perfect seasoning. It was the perfect place to celebrate on our way out all moms got a rose. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Love Cafe Antonio's. Eat in or take out, this place has fed my family for years. 5 stars

Yelp
We had my daughter's baby shower here and they did such a great job! The food was excellent, the service was spot on (Joyce is a rock star) The price was very reasonable for all the food we got, plus mimosas. We will make this our go-to place whenever we are visiting the area

Yelp
One of our friends recommended this place for dinner. It was an Amazing experience here. Ambience was great. We had a lady doing music for about an hour on Thursday night. Appetizers were delicious bruschetta. Main dishes was real tasty and the portion sizes were huge and very fulfilling. Chianti wine among with the main course was excellent choice. See pics. Great pick for a birthday. Thx to pusram was recommendation. Winnie had a great bday.

Yelp
Good pizza, probably the best in the area including downtown Trenton, NJ. Most times I'm in a hurry and grab a slice from the pizza side of the restaurant. The slices are more like NY style, with a thinner crust. Slices with topping can get a bit pricey but again, given the lack of viable alternatives,... The pastas are ok as well. I've enjoyed the penne vodka and linguine with white clam entrees both in house and catered. The salads are also fresh. I definitely will revisit when the stomach grumbles.

Marlyn V.

Yelp
Cafe Antonio was way more than I expected from the exterior that borders a mechanic shop and being right over the bridge to Trenton. Once you walk in you are greeted by a host who shows you to your seat in the very romantic dining room (reservations should be made on the weekend for less of a wait). The ambiance is perfect for a date night, fancy bridal shower or classy family gathering. It is also awesome that it is BYOB, so you can save some money on drinks and spend it on appetizers instead! Appetizers: SEAFOOD BRUCHETTA: Seriously my favorite, and possibly the most fattening thing on the menu, but I don't care, give it to me baby! It's a garlicy, pesto cream sauce that smothers shrimps and crab lumps that comes with Antonio's fresh warm bread. $15 - a bit pricey but totally worth the indulgence Any classics are great like the Bruchetta bread is a cheaper and savory alternative at only $6, still made with fresh ingredients or the Mozzarella Caprese or Cozze mussels in white wine sauce. Entrees: Chicken Milano: is my favorite! Sautéed chicken with mushrooms, prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes in a brandy cream sauce & pasta! ugh, my mouth is watering already! Chicken Champagne is really different, and surpringly addictive.Sautéed chicken with peaches in a champagne cream sauce, served over capellini. Regardless of what you order, I'm sure you will be pleased. All the dishes look so amazing on each plate! Coming here is really what Italian food is like, romantic, abundent and indulgent. If you sign up for their newsletter they also send some good coupons every few weeks to help out with the price of that seafood bruchetta!

Yelp
Aaamazing! I had the seafood purses and wow! It's delicious! It actually has more than the amount of seafood I expected, since a lot of places will give u 1 or 2 pieces of the seafood they claim to be included in your dish. Not the case here; the ratio of the seafood and pasta is perfect! The vodka sause was very tasty and creamy; great for the dish! Service was great as well. Overall it was a great experience! Great service and great food!
