Cafe Balagan

This is among the warmest, most relaxed, and welcoming coffee shop vibes I have ever encountered. The owners, management, and employees are all very at ease together. Everyone working is genuinely kind and happy to be here. What a treat. The food quality is shocking (Vegan Sandwich shown is incredible ) I am so glad I found this place: great WiFi and plenty of power outlets.

This is our favorite local coffee shop. The people who own this spot and work here are just lovely. And the oat milk cappuccinos are the best in town. I feel so welcomed every time I come here— and their pastries and snacks are also to die for. It’s a total win all around.

Went in to buy a pound of coffee beans, which cost nearly twenty bucks. The barista took about fifteen minutes to weigh it out. When I got the bag — just a paper lunch sack, not a coffee bag — it felt light. Got home and weighed it: 12.3 oz. What a ripoff.

This is one of the best cappuccinos I've ever had. The service is lovely and the place itself is warm and inviting. I haven't tried their food, but if their coffee grounds are any indication of the level of exilence that they strive for, I can only imagine their food is out of this world. 10/10 recommend!

Anytime anyday you can go there and feel welcome heard and appreciated! No place in the valley like it! They are the best cafe in the valley!!! The personal relationships ive gained with them and the patrons has made me feel valued in the community!

This is a really great cafe. They've definitely got the best coffee in town, and the sandwiches are really good too. The employees are always really on top of things, but never look stressed out or miserable like in some of the other cafes. The music tends to be louder than in other downtown spots, but they've got good playlists so this can be a plus or minus depending on one's mood.

I visited Cafe Balagan in Autumn 2024. The cafe is quaint with a range of coffee options and fresh food on site. Outdoor seating is also available. Traditional European coffee options are available, with my cortado made perfectly. Staff were great and helpful. Would recommend and revisit.

I'm not a coffee drinker, so I can't tell you what their main product is. My apologies! They do have boxed water for sale, and several other drinks for us non-coffee people. They also sell baked goods - they're made by a local bakery, not on sight, but they're delicious. They're also incredibly light, and I know this because after one delicious bite of the chocolate cake (like a small chocolate lava cake), one gust of wind blew it away! I was devastated, emotionally overwrought... I did pick it up so no dog found it as a treat. On a related note, there is indoor and outdoor seating.

The food so good they offered a fresh juice the vibes so chill and cozy. I'm definitely gonna come back to try the coffee next time

This place is great. Currently the absolute best lattes you can get in Northampton, along with Woodstar. Vibe is great. Sandwiches are delicious. Service is awesome. My husband and I have become regulars.

Coffee was fantastic! We had a S'mores cold brew, maple iced mocha and an iced gingerbread latte. The compost cookie was delish! Staff was friendly and patient while the 3 of us decided. Love the clean modern look of the place, for a small spot it was airy and relaxing!

Not sure if I just hit this place at the wrong time of day or ON the wrong day, but it was pretty awful. Ordered an Americano and a slice of pound cake. The Americano was a so-so average Americano I guess - nothing at all to write home about - and the pound cake was unfortunately just terrible. Super dry, overbaked, and tasteless. And I'm pretty sure there was corn (?) in it. Never had a pound cake with corn kernels, which I actually wouldn't be against if it had been done well... but it wasn't. The ambiance was also a bit bland. I swear I'm not a super picky person, but if I'm coming in for a simple coffee and pastry and those are your main deal, I expect something that I'll want to come back for again.

Best café in Northampton! The café itself is really aesthetic but the lattes are the best ones I've had. They also have unique seasonal specials, delicious sandwiches and treats and kind staff. Come here!!

I had the best experience at Cafe Balagan this summer. Belen made me the most incredible honey bee latte in the world. Cafe Balagan is a true community and I will definitely be back for another honey bee!

I'm surprised to see little reviews. Staff was friendly today. Looks like they have an eclectic relationship with a brewery and small batch items available. Interesting selections. Basic like an egg salad sandwich "with pickle" which makes it the interesting part on a sweet roll for example. Pictured cinnamon chino latte. Not sweet more natural taste. Choco chip cookie was a crisp one, good. Not chewy and soft. However I usually go for the chewy.... This one was pretty good for a crisper thick cookie. Practical, clean, airy vibe on the way in. Music - house / hipster cafe house. Big A plus. Nice chill sound. Not too loud. Appropriate.

The chai was delicious and their assortments of teas were really nice! The sandwiches were delicious as well!

First time here and our golden latte and regular latte were great. The service was excellent - they answered my questions and were so thoughtful of our requests. Highly recommend this friendly place.
