Whenever I visit my friend Stacy , one of our must-visit spots is always Baristello. Located near Jarry Metro, this cozy café has become our little tradition. It’s the perfect place to relax, grab a delicious coffee, and, recently, enjoy a tasty sandwich. But what has me especially excited for the warmer weather is the potential addition of affogato to the menu this summer—talk about a treat!
Ambiance:
Baristello’s vibe is the first thing that pulls you in. The space is light, airy, and effortlessly cozy. With its modern minimalist design and wooden accents, it feels both fresh and comfortable. The natural light streaming in through the large windows gives the café an inviting, relaxed atmosphere, whether you’re there to catch up with friends or just enjoy some solo time with your coffee. It’s got that perfect balance between being bustling enough to feel like a local hotspot but still calm enough to settle in for hours without feeling rushed.
The Coffee:
I’ve come to expect nothing less than excellent coffee from Baristello, and they never disappoint. Every drink is crafted with care, from their creamy cappuccinos to their smooth pour-overs. The baristas here are super knowledgeable. The coffee is always top-notch, i have their coffee to make at home as well but it’s always nice to sit down and enjoy the ambiance. I’m especially excited about the possibility of affogato making its way to the menu this summer. If it’s anything like their other offerings, I can already imagine how perfect it’ll be—the mix of rich espresso with vanilla gelato sounds like the ideal treat on a sunny Montreal afternoon!
The Food:
This time, I decided to try one of their sandwiches, and it was delicious. I went for the Focaccia Salami ($14), which came with tapenade olives, Fior di latte, arugula, roasted aubergines, caramelized onions, and salami—all sandwiched between the most satisfying focaccia. The flavors were spot on. The salty salami balanced with the creamy cheese, the sweetness of the caramelized onions, and the fresh, earthy notes from the aubergines and arugula. It was hearty but fresh, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how well everything came together. If you’re in the mood for something more filling than just a pastry, this sandwich is definitely worth a try.
Customer Service:
One of the things that really sets Baristello apart is the warm, friendly service. Stacy’s a regular here, so we’re always greeted with a smile, and the baristas and owner are always happy to chat and make recommendations. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local regular, they make you feel like a valued guest. It’s the kind of place where the staff genuinely cares about making your experience a great one, which is always a nice touch when you’re trying to relax with a coffee or snack.
Location:
Located near Jarry Metro, Baristello is easy to get to and in a neighborhood that feels lively yet relaxed. It’s close enough to all the action but not smack in the middle of the busiest streets, so you get a quieter experience. Whether you’re coming from the Plateau or just exploring the area, it’s the perfect pit stop for a coffee or snack.
Final Thoughts:
Baristello has quickly become a favorite spot for me whenever I visit Stacy, and it’s easy to see why. The cozy ambiance, delicious coffee, and great food make it a place I look forward to returning to every time. Add the possibility of affogato this summer, and it’s going to be even harder to resist coming back. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this café near Jarry Metro is definitely worth checking out. I know I’ll be back soon for a cup of coffee—and hopefully an affogato!
