The 13 Best Restaurants In Mendocino - Mendocino - The Infatuation

"Cafe Beaujolais is the multi-hyphenate talent of Mendocino. The team behind it is the masterminds behind thin-crust pie experts The Brickery and coffee shop The Waiting Room. At night, this French spot, set in a yellow house, showcases its fine dining skills. You’ll want to get here for brunch, though, and order dishes like benedicts, duck confit chilaquiles, and blueberry pancakes with golden-brown edges that audibly crunch. It makes for the ideal last meal in town before heading back onto the 1." - julia chen 1

My Favorite Airbnb in California: A Remote, Tiny House Near Mendocino

"Café Beaujolais is located in Mendocino, Northern California. It is an upscale restaurant set in a 19th-century Victorian farmhouse. The restaurant offers dishes such as crab cake eggs benedict and a Thai duck salad. It provides a unique dining experience in a scenic cliffside town."

We were driving by and unfortunately had no chance to make the reservation, but the option to grab takeout and dine on the magical backyard patio was even more desirable. Thank you for such a welcoming service and for that incredibly delicious food! Honestly, it was my first time eating foie gras out of a plastic container, but sucraface paid off anyway and I got no less joy for sure!

A great cafe to hang out with friends. Beautiful ambience and amicable service. I lived their setup and they have access to restroom as well. We got croissants, matcha latte, coffee latte, cappuccino. Everything was good and I loved their coffee blend as well. The matcha was good and not too bitter. One of the few places to try matcha and it’s highly rated at this spot and it didn’t disappoint. The croissant was fresh, buttery and crunchy on the outside. Overall we had a great time at this place.

Definitely dine here! The chef was amazing, the staff and service were excellent. The food was incredible. We came on NYE so we had the tasting menu which was incredible and the perfect amount of food, but I was super tempted by the a la carte menu as well. The A5 wagyu was maybe the best steak I have ever had, I could practically cut it with my fork it was so tender.

Favorite restaurant in Mendocino County. Fantastic food. Extensive wine list. We definitely look forward to visiting next time we’re in town. Check out the Waiting Room and the Brickery next door as well for breakfast and lunch.

We were lucky to find one table available when arriving later at Mendocino. We were super satisfied with the food and sweet dining place. The green mix salad, fava bean toast, black cod, and New York Strip were my personal favorites!

My partner and I liked this place so much we went there twice for lunch on a recent weekend trip. The pizza is absolutely delicious! They even had one vegan pizza option which was good! I also tried one of their seasonal fig and goat cheese pizzas. It's the perfect place to sit outside on a rare sunny day. Dog friendly also!

Google
Elegant, cozy setting with good ambiance. The savory dishes are well flavored and cooked perfectly, especially the duck entree. The bread are baked in house and very delicious. The wine list features many local wineries. The only disappointing element is the dessert chocolate torte, which tastes like a overly sweet granola with plain ice cream.

We sat in “the waiting room” which was a more casual part of the restaurant since we came with our little dog. We were still able to order food from the Cafe Beaujolais menu. The bar also has its own snacks menu. My husband and I shared the heirloom tomato and burrata salad and the Vietnamese prawn and papaya salad for starter. I had duck breast for main (medium) and my husband had fillet mignon (medium). Everything was delicious. The duck breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Parts of the fillet mignon were well-done instead of medium but my husband didn’t mind. The bar tender/server was cheerful and the service was great.

Yelp
Cafe beaujolais resides in a Victorian house. The rooms are transformed into dining rooms giving that intimate setting. We were seated in the back dining room. The table for 2 was slightly cramped. Staff was friendly and attentive. Beef tartare - this was our least favourite dish. The tatare was served on warm bread, heating up the meat slightly. Overpowering mustard flavor, very strong balsamic tartness. The condiments stole the show and we couldn't really taste the natural flavor of the meat. Sweet potatoes agnolotti - creamy delicate filling in agnolotti, the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes were enhanced, delightful Braised pork cheek - fork tender pork cheeks pairs perfectly with creamy risotto, the sauce was slightly salty and felt one dimensional Duck breast - the absolute star of the show, crispy skin envelops tender meat, beautifully seasoned with five spice. The quinces are pleasant touches to the dish, each bite bursting with sweetness

Yelp
my note to the owners~ Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lopez and Chef Julian, Our dinner on Thursday night was the best of our trip! We are well traveled, love to cook, and are always looking for great places to dine, and wine to drink! The pasta special with the ragu may be the best pasta either of us has ever had! You are hitting it out of the ballpark with that dish! The duck was done perfectly! The grilled octopus was simply amazing! The choice of the beans and the light sauce were spot on! We love the dining room, it is so cozy, classy and welcoming. The service was wonderful. Please let us know if you ever decide to offer a cooking class, we would love to attend. We have loved the cafe for years but we have to say that you have taken it to a new level! Well done!! Every year we try to come up to the Mendocino area. The cafe has always been a favorite but this young chef seems to out do himself at every turn. If you have a special dinner in mind, this is the place! If you are looking to celebrate that it is say Tuesday, this is the place! Do not miss! It should also be noted that the prices are reasonable, the wine list varied, and the setting delightful. Enjoy!

Yelp
We had a lovely evening. Service was excellent. The vibe is upscale tho low key - simple dining room, not over crowded with space between tables, white table cloths with an extensive wine list. We had champagne and the hand foraged mushroom gratin for a starter (a special) that was unbelievably good. A Reisling and Pinot with duck breast, which was excellent, and wild scallops which were good though nowhere as good as the duck. We tried the a dessert - which I can't remember the name of, which was good though nowhere near as good as the fabulous desserts we had at Trillium Cafe. It is a pricey restaurant - we would absolutely return for the duck and that starter. They were both superb. Honestly though we were not totally convinced it is worth the $$$ when Trillium is another option (which is also mot inexpensive!) If you are in Mendocino and looking for a more upscale vibe / menu with an extensive wine list - then this is the place. Sorry - no pics!

Yelp
Food was delicious! The most memorable part was eating the crab cake appetizer. The crust was crunchy and had a bit of spice that really made the dish. They couldn't have seasoned it better and I loved the basil leaves sprinkled on top. My plate was scraped clean!! Ambiance is charming, like you're in the living room of a classic cottage house. My only constructive feedback would be to dim the lighting. The overhead lights were almost too bright for me, casting shadows on the table.

Yelp
Intimate dining experience in an old house with French inspired dishes. They're happy to make your night special for any occasion including rose petals for an anniversary and birthday confetti. The service is sleek and knowledgeable. We ordered the heirloom tomato caprese salad, pan seared Hokkaido scallops, and the chicken mole and for dessert the chocolate pot de crème . All the food was delicious and we left full and satisfied.

Yelp
A new favorite breakfast spot of mine in Mendocino. So after going to Mendocino a bunch of times we've had to hone in on the breakfast options. After all, breakfast is the wifey's favorite meal. So we've been trying Cafe Beaujolais since it's usually near one of the Inn's we like to stay at, and my is it tasty. I like how it's open somewhat early too. 9:30 isn't too bad. The goal is usually to get to breakfasts spots right when they open so we can avoid peeps but even though this place usually fills up right as they open the doors, I do love the vibe. There is an elegance to it which goes with the name. But yet at the same time it does also have a homey feel like an old mom and pop breakfast spot in the Bay. For some reason out of all the times I've gone, theres always this older gentleman who seems like he's a customer but he's always just walking into the kitchen. Luckily he's never too loud or obnoxious. I just figure he's a regular who is close to the people that work here. Ultimately he always looks like he is having a good time. I mean when you think about it, the food can't be half bad if I continuously see this dude here... But the food is actually really really good. Ive come here a few times and the food always goes above and beyond. I really look forward to the breakfast every-time I go because I know it's always going to be a good meal. That's just how consistent they are. Recently I tried Benedict and I was super impressed. Both of the eggs oozed out the golden goodness when you put the knife through. The Hollandaise sauce was light, lemony and creamy. I loved the amount of Ham they give you too. Potatoes are scrumptious. The portions are pretty solid. Great service too. Everyone who serves us has always been good. I can't really think of anything that bothers me about this Cafe Beaujolais. I feel like this may be a place that flies under people's radar in Mendocino. It's definitely away from all the usual dining stuff downtown but I think people should check it out. It's classy yet homey at the same time.

Yelp
We had our reception and wedding dinner here last weekend and I couldn't recommend it enough. Mollie was super helpful and made me feel confident planning our event without having ever been to the restaurant or their sister hotel Nicholson house. The food was incredible, service was great and the ambience was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Yelp
Came to Cafe Beaujolais for dinner on a Thursday and Brunch on a Sunday and while overall pleased, left with some thoughts. For brunch: I would come here again and again for their pancakes. I don't even like pancakes very much and I so rarely order them but their special had peaches and I'm a sucker for peaches... turns out I'm also a sucker for slightly crispy pancakes and Cafe Beaujolais delivered! Mine were delicious but I also had a bite of a blueberry pancake from a friend and I believe those were somehow even better! The eggs Benedict was so so. The flavors were excellent but the eggs were inconsistent (one was runny, one was overcooked). The sourdough was tasty but slightly difficult to cut/eat. For dinner: The octopus had an excellent char but was over salted. The tuna crudo was perfect. The duck was delicious The salmon was absurdly delicious. The strawberry rhubarb crumble was insensibly large and just fine (maybe they should call it a dessert for 2) The financier was also just fine. Some reviews say service is slow, I didn't experience that at all. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the location feels homey and cozy. My key takeaways: Order pancakes for brunch For dinner: order entrees, skip dessert

Yelp
Weeknight spontaneous dinner as tourists from the Bay Area. We were lucky to snag a table with about a 15 minute wait. Vibes are romantic old cottage, special occasion dinner type so dress accordingly. We felt a little out of place not as dressed up, but we were hungry after finding out the Italian place next door was completely booked and so here we are. It's a pricey establishment, similar to NYC or more fancier SF restaurants. That kind of set some expectations before any of the dishes arrived. Thankfully everything was good, and as a party of 4 plus a baby; we tried a variety of food. Everything was plated beautifully. Flavors were above average, and can tell the kitchen staff know what they're doing. Even the walnut financier and berry cake for dessert were yummy and not your average 'i see this everywhere' type of desserts. The walnut flavor was there, and the financier had a slight hard crisp exterior while the inside was heavenly soft and warm. The berry cake was bursting with fresh berries, and was a very out of cookbook berry purple color (not yellow sponge cake layered w/fruit pebble type) so kudos to the dessert chef too! Service was very attentive and friendly. Only a minus star because the bill had an automatic 20% gratuity. Maybe I missed the fine print.

Yelp
Service was on par with price point. It is more like an intimate setting of a restaurant. Food wise, I think the price is definitely above the quality. I think the butternut squash soup and the carrot cake was phenomenal. However, for the duck breast plate, both the duck breast and potato were not cooked ideally. The duck breast was not cooked as medium rare throughout, the middle was more like a rare. The potato was burnt on the top and bottom but not crispy throughout like the other pictures from reviews.

Yelp
This is about the POP UP* doing the menu & cooking SUNDAY & MONDAY nights til Mid December 2024: *FLOYD AND CONNIE cook delicious food! We had Eggplant Parmesan, deep fried Delicata squash rings, Fish filet sautéed in lemon garlic butter, escarole salad with sheep milk ricotta. Everything was superbly prepared. Nothing disappoints. Oh boy, you should eat there while you can!

Yelp
If you're only having one dinner in Mendocino, this is easily the one I would recommend. Set in a quaint Victorian farmhouse, Cafe Beaujolais is perfect for a a quiet, intimate meal to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or other special occasion. Everything that we ordered was just superb: - Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops (5/5): ideally seared with pistachio browned butter to achieve an ever so slightly crisp exterior with a heavenly soft interior and served atop a bed of quinoa and an exquisitely creamy but light cauliflower purée - ugh, chef's kiss~ - Liberty Farms Duck Breast (4.5/5): crispy medium rare duck served in a delectable kumquat gastrique flavored with five spice, served alongside the perfect potato pave (crispy on the outside, tender and buttery on the inside) - Passionfruit Creme Brûlée (4.5/5): as a fan of all things passion fruit, this dessert was so up my alley and briefly transported me back to recent Hawaiian vacays, absolutely scrumptious All of the ingredients are fresh tasting and locally sourced for that farm-to-fork goodness that epitomizes the Mendocino coast. Currently, Beaujolais is split into three eateries: the Cafe (dinner fine dining), the Brickery (casual lunch - think brick oven pizzas and smashburgers) and the Waiting Room (lounge with coffee, alc drinks, and small bites) to match whatever vibes you're in the mood for so make this a must on your itinerary while in town!

Yelp
Amazing food! Appreciate the vegetarian option. Probably the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten. Plus they were very busy on 4th of July, still the hostess was calm and sweet. A couple ahead of us was playing the classic if there's no table here, we ll go somewhere else. This is 4th of July, nothing else was open. The hostess could have just asked them to try finding another restaurant. But she didn't and convinced them to stay! I have never seen a busy restaurant be so nice to customers.

Yelp
My fiancé took me out for an amazing birthday dinner at Cafe Beaujolais. They have a very interesting menu! I was surprised to see Vietnamese prawn salad and foie gras in the same setting, but it just ensures there's something for everyone here. We got to enjoy a few items: -prawn ceviche: one of their appetizer specials for the evening. Very good flavor, but boring. What I liked most about this dish was the chips that came with them. They were crispy and fluffy. If I could go back, I'd probably order their king salmon tartare appetizer, another special of the day. It just sounded more interesting. -pan seared Hokkaido scallops: an amazing dish! By far our favorite. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the cauliflower purée complemented the dish so well. -black cod: delish! The mushroom agnolotti had amazing flavor. -8hr tagliatelle bolognese: we split this and I'm glad we did bc it was very filing. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was great. -dark chocolate cremeux: very rich dark chocolate flavor but not overly sweet. The shell was nice and crunchy. It's like having chocolate pudding in a tart shell. We really enjoyed our meal here and would recommend this spot for anyone wanting to celebrate something special--or if someone just wanted to eat well :)

Yelp
Had reservations as is a must for this place. It's small but super charming and elegant. Food was outstanding I started with the Butternut squash soup, then I ordered as a side the locally grown beets and potatoes, all delish! Our table enjoyed the Pork cheeks, and risotto which was rich and delish! Also had the mussels, other dishes at the table was crab gnocchi and Bolognese. We had a great bottle of wine and someone had a desert that looked great, no picture sadly.

Yelp
Excellent meal and service! We had the halibut special and duck - both were delicious!

Yelp
The morning after celebrating our wedding night, we decided this was the place to make our reservations for brunch. It was SO tasty and they scattered rose petals on our table for the special event. We were so tired so our server kept refilling our coffee (thank you!) We will be back. :)

Yelp
My husband and I made reservations at Cafe Beaujolais to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. They do get booked up fast so if this is on your list of places to eat and you are going to be in the area, make sure you make reservations in advance. There is limited parking around the restaurant so most people opt for street parking. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to park a few blocks away and walk to the restaurant. We were greeted by the hostess when we got there. Unfortunately as our table was not ready at the time, we waited at the waiting room next door for about 10 minutes before the hostess guided us to our table. We were seated at one of the private rooms in the back of the restaurant. Space was very cramped though intimate. We got the table at the corner of the private room so that allowed us to enjoy the view at sunset. Service was attentive and the waitress checked in on us periodically to fill up our waters. Once ordered, our food didn't take long to arrive. The pace of the dishes were well planned out, giving us a few minutes between each course. For food, we ordered the following: Vietnamese style Dungeness crab cakes (5/5): this was one of the best dishes that night. Each crab cake was fully stuffed with crab. The sauce had a bit of a spicy kink to it. Flavors went well with each other and the crab cakes were deep fried nicely. Spanish seared octopus (3/5): huge portion on the octopus but the dish itself was too salty. Local black cod (2/5): portion size of cod was very small, bok choy was over cooked to the point that it was mostly burnt, the sauce and the duxelles agnolotti were very heavy. For a seafood dish, a lighter sauce would complement it much better because it brings out the freshness of the fish. Liberty farms duck breast (5/5): this was also one of the highlights of this dinner. Portion size was very reasonable. The duck breast was nicely seasoned with the five spices and cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, tender inside. The sauce and every ingredient in this dish went well with each other. Highly recommend and just this dish alone will motivate us to come back. Coconut cream pie (4/5): just the right amount of sweetness and the perfect way to end a meal. The dessert is filled with fresh coconut pieces, and coconut cream. My husband got a glass of wine, very generous pour and price was reasonable. It went well with the dishes we ordered. A great spot to take a date, to gather with friends, or to celebrate a special occasion.

Yelp
Cafe Beaujolais is a restaurant in a historic house. We were lucky to get in here on a rainy night without a reservation. We've been here once or twice before and I would otherwise recommend getting a reservation because space is tight and the food is amazing. The menu here changes all the time so I can tell you I had a stuffed pasta with squash and topped with mushrooms. It's also mushroom season as I was writing this, so I got an extra side of chanterelles to share with the spouse. The spouse got a duck breast entree that was also good. No props to an adjacent table displaying their privilege. They had been entertaining people watching until one person began expressing his disappointment that the menu wasn't accurate on the website. He was a jerk to the server when he unloaded his complaint at the end of dinner. They specialize in seasonal ingredients -- why wouldn't their menu change all the time? And then the woman celebrating her birthday tried to insist that the chef could whip up the apple dessert she had last time. Yes, that is going to happen at a half hour before closing? It was my birthday weekend and I celebrated by being decent and friendly to a server who had to trek across half the restaurant and up and down steps on a rainy night to bring me a lovely meal.

Yelp
This was easily the best french place Ive been to in the US, which was so unexpected because it was in a small town. We didnt make a reservation for a saturday night but luckily some unlucky person no showed so the waitress got us in! The restaurant itself is very cute and intimate and the food actually comes out relatively quickly. We got the vietnamese salad and was immediately blown away. The prawns were huge and delicious, and the pork belly was so amazingly marinated and had the perfect balance of fat and lean meat. The papaya itself was fresh. We also got the petrale sole which is a local fish from the bay and it was SO DELICIOUS! The mashed peas and potatoes went really well with the flaky fish. The bolognese pasta was delicious and perfectly cooked. And the passion fruit creme brule was just ok, nothing wrong but just wasnt quite up to par compared to the other dishes.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner for Friend and had an incredible meal The service was fantastic. They were on top of our water and drinks at all times. The food was outstanding, and the wine was incredible . We had: Four Gras - delicious 8-Hour Tagliatelle Bolognese. -- wow Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops- the biggest scallops I've ever seen!!!! Local Black Cod - incredible Make sure you make a reservation- highly recommend this amazing restaurant

Yelp
We loved the casual elegance of this restaurant. Very good service. Great food. I enjoyed my bolognese and my husband loved his duck.

Yelp
A nice spot for a Sunday brunch. Went for the 2nd time with my wife and parents to celebrate my mom's birthday. Food and coffee are great. A small place with alot of charm.

Yelp
Honestly almost every dish we had for dinner here was absolutely amazing. The butter squash soup was flavorful and creamy. Spaghetti was freshly made. And the coffee with a slightly charred cheesecake was delightful. The Filet Mignon for $65 was one we expected to be an obvious choice. However it arrived charred with a tough exterior and fairly chewy. We ordered it as a "medium/medium well". Just a consideration If you decide to order this dish. Everything else was very delicious. Our server was very knowledgeable and took great care of us despite the busy evening. The restaurant itself is cozy and well taken care of.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would and I also would have eaten here every night while in a 100 mile radius if I could have, it's just that good! I it was our anniversary and I booked our reservation and mentioned it. When we arrived they had a cute little table for us with rose pedals and glitter all over the table, loved that touch! The bread they give tasted like a sprouted wheat or rye which was delicious so for our starter we got burrata, heirloom tomatoes and basil which were juicy and sweet since this is prime season! Husband doesn't typically like burrata but really liked this as it was obviously house made and so creamy! I ordered the Black Cod and I swear this is THE best black cod Ive ever eaten and we live in Ventura where we literally get this fish caught daily and I've not had anything close to this! It was cooked perfect, juicy and glistening with the most delicious truffle sauce, beets and homemade agnolotti. Superb doesn't give it justice! Husband had the duck and he loved his as well and the potatoes were something neither of us had ever had and were delicious. To finish we had a Mayer lemon tart with THE thinnest delicate crust and a toasted meringue, perfect finish! I wanted so badly to let the chef know how much we enjoyed his food and I've never done that before so I hope someone from the business will let him know. Also the wait staff was amazing and the table decorations really made it special. This is a beautiful small business that has such an inviting ambiance... support this business people!!!

Yelp
This is the ONLY place you need to eat in Mendocino! We had dinner at this incredible restaurant in July and were blown away. We were greeted with the sweetest hostess, and she even gave us some sparkling wine because we had a long wait for our table. The restaurant is small and very attentive. The food was cooked to perfection and 100% delicious! Even the desserts were incredible. We will be making this our go-to restaurant when we go back to Mendocino. Everyone was so nice too. But it even gets better, you can literally dine here all weekend. In the morning, the bar next store, "The Waiting Room" has amazing coffee and pastries and a beautiful garden where you can hang out and soak it all in. If you wait long enough, they serve pizza for lunch. I'm telling ya, this place is the bomb!! A MUST GO TO!

Robin H.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! We tried some of the specials and it was the best halibut I have ever had. Love the atmosphere, our server was great and the cheesecake was fantastic! Can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Tom R.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Let's start there. We had the special, black truffle, local pork spaghetti and the black cod. Both were unique and delicious. We had to wait a bit even with a reservation and we were seated in the secondary dining room in the back. But still it was fine dining at its best.

Justin P.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I had the duck, which is my favorite. Service was excellent. The ambience was quaint, intimate, California style fine dining. Looks to be an older home in downtown Mendocino that was converted into a very special restaurant. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Good lord is this place good. I'm a biscuits and gravy snob, and they have the BEST I've ever had. They use a cheese biscuit that melts in your mouth. Order some to take with you (they sell out!). We're adding this to our list of must-stops any time we're up in the Mendocino area.
google avatar

Hangelic R.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place. The ambiance was wonderful and the service was great. They had added rose petals for our anniversary and it was the cutest touch. The food was amazing. I am looking forward to coming
google avatar

Lotus R.

Yelp
Great dinner and service. We had gnocchi with Dungeness crab (not much crab, but gnocchi was excellent), cioppino (excellent) for mains. Bread was good. Carmelized angel food cake was bad - too dry. Will dine again, but not order dessert.

Yelp
I went to this cafe today and so glad I did! I ended up making a reservation yday for brunch today and it was great I did bc the food was fresh and delicious. This place is in a house converted into a restaurant and is a nice cute French place. I ended up getting: *crispy pork and shrimp fried rice - so yummy and flavorful this was a favorite of the tables * brioche French toast - so yummy and came with berries - this dish was crispy and delicious * shakshuka - my cousin loved this dish * eggs Benedict - this dish was a fave of my moms and came with potatoes also *fried chicken steak - my uncle loved this and said the gravy was yummy * duck confit chilaquiles - this was on the spicy side abs the duck was super soft and yummy. Overalll delicious dish! Good place to visit for brunch overall!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Nice dinner here. Excellent service. The duck confit was a standout. The halibut and black cod were both very good. I'm not sure I recommend the berry bread pudding dessert, but I'd definitely consider coming back for another dinner next time I'm in Mendocino.
google avatar

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Perfect service - very accommodating as we had two young children. We were able to enjoy an amazing dinner. We started with the sautéed wild mushrooms and foie grąs paired with a sautern. Delicious. The agnolotti and cioppino followed and both were excellent. Made for a perfect weekday surprise find on our weeklong pacific highway road trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute and classy little restaurant that makes excellent duck breast as one of their meals. I loved how they crisped up the duck skin and yet keep the meat towards the rare side. I would come back again as I like it here .

Yelp
Mendocino was the second stop on our honeymoon after we spent a few days in Napa. We actually just happened upon Cafe Beaujolais while we were out walking around and decided to stop in for dinner. We did not have a reservation but were fortunately able to get a table. Looking back on our trip, we both agreed that Cafe Beaujolais was the best meal from the entire week! We got the 8 hour bolognese and sea bass- both were so delicious and cooked so perfectly. The interior of the cafe house has a really cozy ambiance, but our table was right next to an open window so it was a bit drafty- definitely underestimated the Mendocino weather!

Yelp
We took out a Margherita pizza and a smashed burger. It was one of the best pizzas I have ever had!!! The smashed burgers are only made 2 days week- so we lucked out as it too was also amazing!! The cashier was so patient as we tried to figure out the beers. Great food at great price. Wish the weather cooperated so we could have eaten outside but we ate in the cozy adjacent Waiting Room. Highly recommended!

Yelp
First meal when we visited Mendocino! When you first arrive at the restaurant, head over to the back of the restaurant and make a left in order to place your order. I saw confused people not knowing where to go because there was no one at the lobby of the restaurant so we helped guide them to where to order. The wait can be a little long due to the longer lines so make sure to give yourself amble time to enjoy the meal. We ordered the smash burgers which also took a while to make and the couple after us that ordered pizza got their pizza before our burgers. The smash burgers were okay but I would recommend ordering another dish. Our burgers were a bit dry and like a regular burger so I would give the burger a 3.5/5. The outdoor garden is lovely and the ambiance would be a 5/5.

Yelp
**this review has nothing related to the food since I didn't get to try but this review is based on hospitality. Before you drive to this restaurant, make sure you have a reservation. When we were looking for something to eat after a long drive to Mendocino , this restaurant hostess was rude and couldn't accommodate us with a party of two even though they had plenty of open tables in the morning. If you are reservations only restaurant , please make note of that for guests because NOTHING on YELP says reservation only. Would I be coming back here again, I don't think so. The rude hostess turned me off from ever going here and I would rather check out other restaurants or make me pack my own meal when going to Mendocino.

Yelp
Why doesn't YELP have SIX stars? We choose the Café Beaujolais based on other Yelp reviews and frankly, I'm not sure any of them adequately described just how good this place is... A great dinner requires excellent food, charming ambiance, first-class service, an outstanding bottle of wine, soft music, and of course someone very special to share it all with. The Café Beaujolais hit it out of the park on every measure... Somewhere back in the kitchen clearly lives a master chef with an extraordinary sense for flavor, texture, color, and presentation. Janet, our server, was pleasant, charming, and very attentive which made a wonderful meal even more enjoyable... Assuming of course that this was even possible. So, my recommendation is to not miss this extraordinary cafe for if you do, you will be cheating yourself out of an incredible dining experience! (And Nancy agrees!!!)

Yelp
We went here without a reservation for takeout after driving eight hours from LA. The waitstaff/hostess was rude and short. It was a struggle to get a "Hello" or. "Good Evening" from these folks. We eventually were told that takeout would take 45 minutes. I see from other reviews that their customer service leaves much to be desired. Proceed with caution.

Yelp
We had dinner reservations in the main restaurant and everything was executed perfectly. We ordered the soup, foi gras, the duck, and the fillet mignon and all 4 items were on point. Full of flavor and perfectly prepared. I am not familiar with Mendocino but I would say it is one of my favorite French restaurants I've been to.

Yelp
Well, I used to be a devotee, that is with previous owners. The new chef changed the concept and we didn't go there for a long time. We have it another try this week. I can't say we were seriously disappointed but the food was non descript. I had Foie gras and it was so sweet as if it's a dessert. He just overdone it. The fish and my husband's lamb would have been good for a restaurant with $20-27 price tag but not for the French one, supposedly. Gone are nice porcelain plates and now they serve food on plain ceramic. They bring cold bread, just slices of some plain ordinary bread. Alas. I'm no businessman but I always wonder why people buy a nice French establishment and turn it into burito truck?

Yelp
Went here for Sunday brunch and it absolutely knocked our socks off. The coffee, the mimosas, the mascarpone French toast, and my dish with chorizo and curries country potato's were all of the hook great! The staff were amazing and super friendly! This place was perfect for us and was absolutely firing on all cylinders! Will go again!

Yelp
The property itself is gorgeous, the location is perfect. Each place from the Waiting Room, to The Brickery, to Cafe Beaujolais have a unique vibe that work perfectly to compliment the property as a whole. We went to The Brickery for lunch and got two amazing pizzas, Chef Julian Lopez made them himself and absolutely crushed it. The old school brick fire oven makes all the difference. We stopped in The Waiting Room, my partner got a chai latte, she enjoyed it so much we had to get another before leaving. Had the chance to chat with the owners Peter, Melissa, and Julian Lopez and the pride they have in the property is awesome to see. We look forward to dining at Cafe Beaujolais soon!

Yelp
My daughter and I made reservations here for Friday evening, the weekend of Mother's Day. We wanted to try this place 2 years ago, but did not realize that we would need reservations. This place did not disappoint! The service was excellent. All of the staff members were friendly and attentive, and not overly attentive which gave us just enough space to savor the delicious cuisine. I had a salad with the most amazing veggies that tasted like they were just hand picked from the local garden. My daughter had the crab cakes. We both determined that before this restaurant, the best crab cakes that we've had were from Alaska. Our entrees were the Dungeness crab gnocchi and the truffle risotto, both equally scrumptious. After our meal, we were both full but decided to try an angel food cake with Meyer lemon fresh blueberries, that was out of this world! Shout out to Janet who helped me pick out the perfect glass of wine! We come to Fort Bragg every year and Cafe Beaujolais will be a part of our experience!

Yelp
Look: Mendocino isn't a foodie paradise, and it likely never will. It's small and remote and relies on tourists to help keep the local economy afloat. I get that. The San Francisco Bay Area this is not, which is great. The views and setting are truly special, and vibe is 100% Mendo. What's cool about CB is that the food, drinks, and self-serve farmers' market stand (near the ordering counter) completely blend in with the local setting while also setting a true culinary benchmark in terms of quality and sheer creativity. Maybe I WAS hungry the day of my visit after a long morning of hiking and driving. But the craft beer and brick oven pizza lunch was just perfect. And we got some organic greens, tomatoes, and garlic from the farm stand before we left. That's just fun. Michelin stars shine brightly, but Yelp reviews ultimately matter more for places like this. I love to discover authentic spots like CB. Hope you will, too.
