"While Cafe Beignet isn’t our absolute favorite on this list, it’s where we like to bring big groups. That’s because the beignets here are comically enormous, and perhaps the largest in the world. Walked down to this corner coffee shop right down the street from our hotel. Great location! Looks like the building is either brand new or being completely redone. Really cute place with a lot of personality. Lots to choose from and it seems like all the baked goods are freshly made. Loved it! Would go again!

My wife had a Mushroom Omelette and I had a Sausage Omelette. My Omelette was one of the best that I have ever had. The sausage was spicy but not hot. It was delicious. It was afternoon but we were able to order breakfast food. The meals included some very tasty grits.

Google
Food: The BEST beignets in New Orleans! Light and fluffy-remind you of funnel cake!! Went back for the jambalaya-was good! Service: timely and efficient. Atmosphere: had live music-so fun!

I love the atmosphere of this place. There was a guitarist playing acoustic music, the staff was friendly, the environment is lovely. Unfortunately the latte was tasted only of milk and the croissant was very cold. That being said, I still would return and try beignets here next time. Hopefully the coffee making will improve 🙏

Incredible! I ordered a beignet and they come 3 at a time. Several different types. Hot out of the oven ❤️ Other Food looks amazing too. Live music from 2-10 daily too and amazing!

Loved the vibe with the open doors and live music. Little bit of a line but it moved quickly and we were served promptly. King Cake beignets were amazing.

This review is long overdue! I visited Cafe Beignet with my coworkers on a work trip in June 2024. The Cafe Beignet team was very kind and professional. I really enjoyed the atmosphere! There was a couple musicians playing live while we were there. They were so talented!! I personally enjoyed this setting more than another beignet restaurant we had been too. It’s just beautiful in the inside! There were other people there, but it also wasn’t overcrowded! The beignets were a little more dense than others I had on the trip. They were still very yummy!! They were just a little different. I had a very positive experience overall! Thank you, Cafe Beignet!

I visited Cafe Beignet (Decatur Street) for the first time on January 17, 2025. The food was delicious and ready quickly. I got the Cajun Hash Browns. Amazing!! 🤩 The beignets were huge and so good with chocolate and strawberries! 😋 The customer service was fantastic!! Everyone was so polite and kind, southern hospitality in action. I thoroughly enjoyed the live music and cool merchandise…”Beignet…Done That”. And I want to give a shoutout to the manager, Ashton, who took great care of me during my visit. I will definitely be going back the next time I’m in New Orleans!

Yelp
Cafe Beignet in New Orleans is a delightful alternative to the iconic Cafe du Monde, especially if you're looking to skip the long lines and enjoy a more laid-back experience. The ambiance is charming, and the fact that they offer a full bar and a complete menu sets it apart from Cafe du Monde, making it a great spot for brunch or a leisurely snack. The coffee, featuring the classic chicory blend, is standard but satisfying, pairing nicely with their beignets, which are on par with the best in the city. One standout feature is their creative offerings of chocolate-drizzled and chocolate-strawberry beignets, adding a unique twist to the traditional sweet treat. Overall, Cafe Beignet provides a lovely atmosphere and tasty options, making it a worthy stop for anyone seeking New Orleans' famous beignets without the wait.

Yelp
My friend ran inside for a takeout order of regular beignets while I sat in the car since we were headed to the airport. He took a while to get it his order. I would not recommend eating beignets in the car, it's not a good to-go snack. However, the beignets here are good! I grew up on cafe du monde but I'm pleased to know I can get good beignets from here too and there are so many locations to choose from.

Brian S.

Yelp
I've never had a beignet before but let me say I'm hooked. Fried bread with powdered sugar is so simple but they do it great here at cafe Beignet. The counter employee's and the wait staff made this experience really special. The 3 piece band was playing local jazz and sent a lively mood throughout the place. Liked the design and atmosphere immediately upon entering. Very old school New Orleans. If you like cafés this is the stop for you. We all enjoyed our coffee and hot chocolate drinks. They have a fully stocked bar here as well if you want a place to get a drink. They have many specialty drinks to choose from. I'll be back to visit and enjoy all Cafe Beignet has to offer when I get back to visit New Orleans again.

Yelp
Top tier experience every time we visit Cafe Beignet. I love their mushroom omelet, their coffee, and here it is: they have the best beignets. I tried beignets at other places including Cafe Du Monde, and prefer Cafe Beignet's beignets. The service is always kind and awesome. I particularly love this location by the water with the open doors and cafe seats. Easily one of my favorite places to go in New Orleans and a place I will come every time.

Collette D.

Yelp
Line was out the door so be prepared to wait. Beignet were very taste but what stole the show was the frozen drink. yes they were refreshing and delicious. After 1 I didn't care about the crowd. 2 had me feeling great.... Don't pass up very worth the stop

Alexanria J.

Yelp
Pretty high ceiling, open space, cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and patient service and great food. Beinet is also very good. It was crispy on outside and soft in the inside. Cajun hashbrown also comes with omelet and garlic butter bread. Very filling comfort food. Automatically playing piano was super intriguing. Strongly recommend and will defenitely return.

Alton B.

Yelp
Not worth it for little pieces of fish, fries and okra. Service was okay but wouldn't return

Melissa S.

Yelp
In the New Orleans welcome guide we got a coupon for a buy one get one free cafe au lait. It worked like a charm. It was really cold outside so it warned us up. They had a counter with additional cream and sugar you can add as it's really strong. It wasn't as smooth as Cafe Du Monde's but it was still good and perfect for the price. I loved that they had live music inside. He was playing the guitar and singing the whole time we were there. Even with everyone coming and going. The real walls kept us warm inside. It was nice to go inside, sit a little while and warm up on a cold December day.

Lakisha J.

Yelp
These have to be the biggest and freshest beignets that I've had. I like these better than Cafe Du Monde. They come in orders of 3 but I shared with a neighbor as I wasn't going to be able to eat all of them. Delicious and priced right.

Nerissa D.

Yelp
We wanted something simple and not too filling. Cafe Beignet is diagonally located from our hotel and walking distance. Staff: it gets busy and I'm sure it's hard to smile all day. Our cashier smiled after and was very helpful and very patient while I ordered. Price: reanably priced Food: wasn't able to take a pic of the Andouille sausage omelette my sis and mom shared but my mom loved how they toasted her bread. Nice and toasty. Grits was good. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich and I had the same w/o the bacon. It was good and cheesy. Ambiance: there's live music daily. The guitarist's voice is really good. All in all, I recommend this place if you want something quick. They do sell beignets but we opted to wait. Enjoy!

Daisy G.

Yelp
Cute little vibe! If you don't want to wait too long for a table to clear at Cafe du Monde down the street, this place is a great alternative. Beignets were warm, a bit more on the "doughy" side. I also had the Cafe Au Lait- good pairing to wash down the sugar from the beignets. Don't expect the coffee to be too strong, it's more of a pairing to cleanse the palate of the sugar from the Beignets. Reasonably priced, good customer service.

Shannon S.

Yelp
We stopped by to get beignets. They did not disappoint. We ordered the traditional ones and the ones drizzled with chocolate. They were absolutely delicious. We also ordered coffee, it was just ok. The staff working here are very friendly and helpful. The cafe is very cute and when we were there, there was live musician. That was pretty cool.

Susan R.

Yelp
Came here to complete my taste-test of beignets; admittedly, I only had room to try two places...Café du Monde and Café Beignet. The interior is super adorable (one of the cleanest public bathrooms, BTW), and I loved the architecture of the bar. There's a player piano (or someone playing it) and a novelty gator statue that draws the kiddos. I need to remember you can order full on cocktails at all hours of the day and night in this city, and were I able to consume any of them, there were a ton to try here. Mimosas are for light-weights! ;) You stand in line to order and pay and they give you a number for your table; other prepared foods are delivered to your table. The beignets here are more "designer" with Nutella and chocolate sauce and fruit; I'm a purist, so I ordered the original plain ones. Café Beignet's beignets are fluffy like a hot biscuit out of the oven. It is the preferred texture, but I gotta say, I did like du Monde's flavor profile more; it was just more vanilla-esque? That could be the difference in powdered sugars, but not sure. The beignets here are much larger in size, so bring your appetite. We bagged up our extras, and I'm happy to report they stayed fresh for days in our hotel room. A quick microwaving and they'd be fine! Other folks were ordering bacon & eggs full breakfasts, so by the time we left, there was a long line to get in.

Meghan B.

Yelp
After a day spent as a tourist in my own city I had to cap the night off with some hot beignets. Cafe du Monde's line was insanely long so we decided to stop here. This was my first time and the beignets were delicious. First let me tell you, they are huge!! One order can be shared amongst 3 people. They were also very reasonably priced, and I liked how they had different beignet types such as chocolate drizzled beignets, original and I believe beignets with pecans. Not to mention there is live music from a self playing piano I thought that was a cute touch. And most importantly the staff are very kind and helpful. I will definitely keep them in mind when wanting some beignets.

Darian C.

Yelp
I just came here for the beignets and they were so good! They came out fresh and too hot to grab with our hands. I thought I would be able to eat multiple but they were big. The service was a bit slow but worth the wait. There was live music when we went which was really nice. The shop is pretty bit but there is a lot of tables so a bit cramped.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
I had beignets every single day that I was at New Orleans. They are so fluffy and warm. They are humongous and an order brings three to an order for only $5. I recommend you try the beignets at Cafe Beignet. Super fan!

Kim U.

Yelp
Cute spot old fashioned vibe, very cute. Friendly staff. We had the alcohol slushie drinks. Beignets are freshly made and very good. Def stop in if in the area.

Frankie H.

Yelp
They didn't have the name of the different flavored beignets. When I asked the cashier she said the flavors are over there, she pointed to the area where you can see it but it didn't have any wording of the flavor so we still didn't know the different flavors. So again I asked csn you tell us the flavors. We ordered the pralines with nuts on top. After we ordered, two other customers came in after us. They both got their orders before we did, we were still waiting for ours. I asked how long would it be and then I was asked what we ordered. It took about 8 minutes after that. The beignets were overcooked, and the praline sauce was very thin and loose. Customer service and beignets were not good. The live music player was great.

Frans D.

Yelp
New Orleans is known for seafood and beignets. These are so good, and filling. A serving of 3 is very much sharable.

Margery Z.

Yelp
We finally got to experience the famous New Orleans beignets. You can have the order of three beignets with just a wonderful powdered sugar "cover" or with a chocolate sauce to drizzle on top of the powdered sugar. We ordered the drizzle! The beignets come out so hot one has to wait just a couple of moments before picking up one. One bite and I understood why these are so beloved. Simply delicious. Three beignets at Cafe Beignet are definitely sharable!

Jurel H.

Yelp
Best place for beignets for my taste. The beignets are huge, and taste like fried dough that you get from the carnival. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced as well

Pam M.

Yelp
I popped in here because it was pouring down rain and I did need to get some breakfast. They had somebody playing guitar, which was nice a little on the loud side, but it was good music. The tables fairly close to each other so got a little tight getting through. The staff may have been stressed because they weren't completely friendly and things were a little confusing as to when they were going to bring out the rest of my order or if I was supposed to pick it up The omelette and the grits were good. The beignets were exceptional.

Kelly Dues T.

Yelp
Happened upon Cafe Beignet just looking for coffee and a snack. Was pleasantly surprised when waiting in line for the bathroom. It's the no 2 spot for Beignets! 2nd to Cafe Du Monde that we just left. A taste comparison commenced. These Beignets are flaky like crescent rolls and airy. They offer chocolate sauce. My kids loved the alligator sausage. They begged for it again later so we came back the next day. The puns are so fun. Really great gifts and reminders of a fun time with live music. It's really not allergy friendly. At least for my experience. But still worth a visit if you have allergies bec they have coffee and adult beverages.

Felicia S.

Yelp
On my first trip to NOLA, I wanted to experience the iconic Cafe Du Monde, but it was a Sunday late morning and the line was literally down the block. Not worth it to me. Just down the street was Cafe Beignet, and I've never been more grateful to get to go to a plan B restaurant! This place should be on everyone's must do list. The beignets are great, the staff is friendly, and the environment is lively and fun! There aren't many vegan or plant-based options, so if you're strict about your diet, this isn't the place for you if you're hungry, but the drinks are stellar! The live music from the singing guitar player made for a fun wait for our food to arrive. Here's a hint: when the line at the door is long, grab yourself a seat at the bar for pretty much immediate service. I was also tickled to see the sign that one of my favorite food stars, Alton Brown loves it too!

Kevin W.

Yelp
This venue had a line out the door but it only took us 15 minutes to place our order and an additional 15 minutes to get the order. We ordered 9 beignets with chocolate sauce and strawberry sauce on the side. The beignets are amazing. We were able to grab a couple of Frozen Hurricanes and Frozen Whiskey Sours at the bar. The drinks are delicious and have a good amount of alcohol.

Shannon N.

Yelp
OK, it's all about the beignets - and these are pretty legit. We were not unanimous about Cafe du Monde vs. Cafe Beignet - the beignets here are thicker, fluffier and more dough-y. Cafe du Monde are crispier on the outside, thinner, and not as fluffy. Cafe Beignet honestly annoyed me on the ambience factor - they had this automatic player piano in the corner that sounded like it was programmed by a drunk newbie. It was driving me crazy. Beignet pricing was identical to Cafe du Monde, but CB takes credit cards which was a win. Much bigger menu here too, if you want more than just a beignet.

Lea A.

Yelp
I was in New Orleans for a day en route to Mississippi for a conference and wanted to have a couple beignets before leaving. Cafe Beignet was clean, the staff was friendlier than most people I had encountered that day in the city, and the beignets were delicious. Also had a chai latte that was perfect.

Ro W.

Yelp
This was a cute little spot on the corner. They had a bar, live music, food, and a Cafe all in one spot. Once the performers packed up, there wasa piano on the wall playing by itself. I didn't get a picture of the huge gator decor. My mango margarita slushy barely tasted like any liquor was in it. The beignet was super hot and tasty. They're served in 3s. I only wanted one and ended up throwing the other two away.

Connoisseur B.

Yelp
Not so great service experience at the beginning. Seemed like the staffs are super busy and worked up. Waited for almost half an hour for Andoulie omlet, while checking for delay got ignored. At last, my wife was able to talk at the check-in and they're kind enough to offer free beignets and muffins saying they lost track of the order and remade the order. They've old style iron chairs for seating, looks pretty but was set too close to each other so when the cafe gets crowded really hard to move through the space. There was live music playing and overall a good place to hang out.

Marissa P.

Yelp
Cafe Beignet has a charming atmosphere with cute black-and-white floors and adorable chairs, but the breakfast sandwich didn't quite impress. However, they sure know how to make a praline latte!! While the praline latte was delicious, the menu was unclear regarding the hashbrowns, leading to an accidental double order and some confusion with the breakfast items. The music was quite loud, making it difficult to hear the cashier. The croissant in my sandwich could have been griddled for added flavor, and the bacon was in pieces which was unexpected. Despite these bumps, the coffee was good, though the overall vibe felt more modern than the nostalgic charm I was hoping for. Perhaps a different location might offer a more authentic-feeling experience!

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Ohhh myyy!! Just thinking about these beignets, makes me want to go back to New Orleans again! They are soooo delicious!! It's a bit different texture than the one in Cafe Du Monde, but they both are just as good. This one is a bit bigger and doughy, but soooo good!!! The live music was a great addition too to enjoy the day!

Ashtyn K.

Yelp
Very charming and iconic place to visit while in New Orleans. In order to see which beignet is best, this place must be on your list. Ordered 3 for less than $5. Great pricing. Beignets came fresh and hot with a mound of powdered sugar on top. Highly recommend!

Peter M.

Yelp
Exploring the French Quarter? Need a caffeine & sugar boost? Well, this place is a great spot to take a break from taking it all in! Classic, old timey feel, a full bar for those still on the go, a separate pastry/beignet & coffee bar - what is not to like? Well, they do have a player piano in the corner that is oddly not very good at the songs it's trying to play. Other than that, this is a great spot to have a seat and recharge. There are only two, single person, non-gendered bathrooms here, and loads of foot traffic, so not the greatest place if you need to take a doozey of a twozey (not that I did, just saying). It wasn't even a busy day when we went, and there was a short line. The beignets are cooked fresh to order. We got the chocolate covered ones, because just powdered sugar isn't sloppy enough for our five year old. Summary: Great spot near Jackson Square and the river. Fair prices. Very friendly staff, covered in powdered sugar.

Keilon L.

Yelp
I actually popped in here so that my partner could use the restroom. While waiting, I sat at the bar and, because New Orleans, I ordered a Sazerac. Madame bartender had a poor disposition and slightly sh*t attitude. Her Sazerac was bitter, like her soul I suppose. A charming bar patron next to me had just received an order of beignets that she wasn't aware would come huge and overflowing. They do not skimp on the portion sizes (aside from the cocktails, of course). She decided to offer one of her 3 or 4 huge beignets to me which I did not need but happily took. It was not bad. A little oily but what should one expect from fried foods? It wasn't bad at all, just not anything to write home about. The ambiance in there was pleasant. I like the influx of natural light even on a cloudier day. If you're coming off the ferry, this place might be a decent stop in. Hopefully you'll get a better bartender than mine.

Matt S.

Yelp
Stopped in Cafe Beignet after a morning run. Ordered some chocolate drizzled beignets. One order comes with 3. I had never had a legit beignets before and these were awesome. Much more filling than I expected. The staff was kind and the vibe inside was nice.

Megan T.

Yelp
There's a rude twink behind the bar who doesn't respectfully acknowledge women he's addressing to when he's correcting them. Honestly I didn't even really notice him and I was in a good mood so he was lucky about that because I don't let anybody disrespect me and I would've quickly became the loudest person in the room. Maybe if he stood behind the bar like his job says to, I would've known there was a bartender there. I hope that man prays he doesn't see me again. The lady with blue hair behind the counter was LOVELY though!!

Brooke P.

Yelp
I love that they try to incentivize ppl to clean up the dirty streets of Nola! (See pic -- bucket of trash = free coffee) The beignets were FAR BETTER THAN CAFE DU MONDE! Bigger better fluffier doughier. Just a solid 10/10 and less of a line as ppl haven't figured this out yet haha!!!

Theresa V.

Yelp
This little restaurant is so cute. The furniture, the bar, and music all remind you of a small French bistro. You place your order at the counter and the servers bring your food to your table. It's nice and clean in there. The food is very good. I loved my western omelette and the beignets are good. Very dense beignets. Highly recommend.

Katherine N.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Simple sandwiches, nothing special. Gumbo was very salty. Nice ambiance with the live music. Friendly staff.

Xixi H.

Yelp
These beignets are huge!! They were delicious, although not my favorite in New Orleans but to be fair the competition is fierce. I would not recommend the Cajun hashbrowns. They're a bit bland and the garlic bread was dry. Honestly the best part of them was just the sausage. I did overhear the person at the checkout telling someone else that she's not a huge fan of them and I should've listed to her instead of my always hungry but not intelligent stomach. The coffee has chicory which was wonderful and soothing. They didn't have non-dairy milk at the condiments counter but they staff was quick to give me a cup of soy milk upon asking. We got lucky and the line was pretty short when we entered around 9am, but the place filled up very quickly after we ordered! Their signage also indicated they have live music from 2pm - 11pm daily which seems like it would be fun.

Matthew K.

Yelp
The best beignets that we had in New Orleans! Beautiful building with a unique look! Everyone seemed to be getting beignets so our batch came out hot and fresh! I would make the trip go New Orleans again just for these beignets!

Kylah G.

Yelp
We ordered a ham Sammie, red beans and rice, 2 lattes, one iced one hot, a chocolate croissant, and an order of beignet's. The red beans and rice were a 10! Super flavorful, spicy sausage, just a great dish. The lattes were yummy like they were all over NOLA, but the beignets were super heavy with a cheap chocolate sauce, the croissant was awful, very heavy bread not light and flakey like a good croissant should be and the ham on the sandwich was low quality like cheap lunch meat. I'd get some red beans and rice to go but that's about it.

Michael L.

Yelp
Amazing iced coffee and service! The beignets were thicker and more filling but still amazing. I don't know why this place has 3.9 shoukld be 4-5. The ambiance was relaxing when were were there around 8:00am and seems like it would be even more fun with live music from 2-5pm. We will def be back for a coffee and a good time. Loved the full bar as well.

Amber R.

Yelp
I had to come try the beignets here & they were yummy. They seemed to have a density similar to a fritter & they were devoured quickly. I also got a hot chocolate - not much chocolate in the hot chocolate so it mostly tasted like super hot milk. I loved the ambiance of the place with the black & white floors to the piano playing by itself in the corner. The staff was also super friendly.

Sydney W.

Yelp
HOT Beignet's! Also a return visit! It's a shame you can't just buy one. It's impossible to finish as one person when they're the size of your face!

Ashwin N.

Yelp
I had the beignets to go, so they gave me the beignets in one bag, and then the powdered sugar + strawberry in another bad and I had to put it on myself. Due to that I may not have had the best experience since I had hoped that it would all be put on at once- but I get why it's like that. When visiting NOLA I was told by a lot of people there that cafe beignet was THE spot to try beignets. Although they tasted pretty good- I don't think it stands out from any beignets I've had before. They were solid but not exceptional. If you're craving beignets this place will probably hit the spot

Jessica K.

Yelp
I'm so sorry but beignets taste like shit. I don't think it's necessarily this cafe, but if you're like me and have never had one, this was SO disappointing. It's sugar and bread, and simultaneously very heavy due to its greasiness alongside the cakey powdered sugar that was thick...in the worst way. I could feel it clogging my arteries. Service was fine but it was so crowded so get ready to wait.

Quin S.

Yelp
Really yummy cafe. Everything is freshly made. Service is good. They do have live music that is kinda loud with all the talking already going on. But overall a great breakfast/brunch spot

Eli M.

Yelp
Beignet was hit and fresh! Cade latte was perfectly made! ............ ............aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
