Minimalist and precise in the CBD, Café Bon Ami pours excellent flat whites and seasonal lattes alongside pastries from local bakers. Noted by Eater New Orleans and travel writers, it’s a calm espresso stop between meetings or museum visits.

This review is long overdue! I visited Café Bon Ami with my coworkers on a work trip on June 13th. I remember seeing their seasonal menu and thinking, this is why I love having coffee in a big city. I live in a city of about 24,000! I ordered the Ube + Fig latte and it was literally amazing. When I tell you I enjoyed every sip of it, I truly enjoyed every sip of it. I also ordered a pastry. I wish I could remember what I got, but I just don’t! I remember it being delicious though. The environment is top tier! If I lived in the area, I would regularly visit! The team member that was working was very friendly and kind. She did a phenomenal job! Thank you, Café Bon Ami!

Google
It was a cozy and warm café. The coffee was great, and the strawberry matcha latte was surprisingly delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. Since they close early in the afternoon, I’d recommend coming a bit earlier.

Google
My iced latte was one of the best I've ever had! It was my first time, and I will definitely be back! The barista was so nice and helped me decide which coffee to order. Reasonable pricing, too. I would 100% recommend this place!!!

Google
Great relaxing music, the mocha is one of the best I've tried. Fantastic experience.

Super cute spot with delicious coffee, but limited seating.

Coffee lovers have to realise there are alot of nice places to get your caffeine fix that are way better than your average chain shops and this place is just such a spot. Ordered a latte and sat down to enjoy this cup of awesomeness over some social media. The barista was skilled, quick and courteous. The latte was pretty much one of the best I've had anywhere. Check them out you won't regret it.

Google
Classy love story of coffee meets French-quartered affair, dripping rich roast in steamy bursts of lathered milk. Pull up a chair at the bar for a chat or slip away into a tiny room of wonder. Love, love, loved! this Local dive!!!

Google
We were blessed to have this amazing coffee shop right outside our VRBO. Amazing people!! The coffee is so smooth, and everything is made to perfection! I would recommend this anyone.

Yelp
This large coconut matcha with oat milk was fully $9. It's very tasty though. Very cool temps inside, several outlets for laptops

Yelp
cute little spot! i came here because i heard it was a good spot for remote work, and i don't know that i would agree with that necessarily, but the food and drink was absolutely delicious! i got an iced coconut matcha latte and a bowl of granola for my breakfast, and both items were really, really good. after a few hours, i ordered a chai and that was also really nice. all the food and drinks also came out super fast, and the baristas were really sweet as well. the reason i say it's maybe not the most conducive for sustained remote work is because there's not a lot of seating, and if it was a busier day i definitely would feel bad taking up a table for a long time. there's also only really high tables and bar stool type chairs, which aren't too comfortable. i managed to snag a seat in the "nook" for a while, which is comfortable but kind of dark. it's quiet and the wifi is good, but probably a better spot just to grab a coffee with a friend! i didn't have any of the normal espresso drinks or pastries but i bet everything is awesome.

Yelp
During my visit to New Orleans, I was craving a good matcha latte. After finding this spot with great reviews, I decided to give it a try. Knowing that matcha lattes aren't as popular in NOLA as they are in places like LA, I was curious to see what I could find. The cafe was easy to locate, with a clear sign outside, and the interior had a cute, cozy vibe. The staff was friendly, and despite being the sole barista at the time, the drinks were made quickly--there was no line when I arrived. I opted for an Iced Matcha Latte with dairy-free milk. It was pretty good--on the sweeter side, but not too watery or overly earthy. You could still taste the matcha, but it wasn't as bold as I would've liked. Overall, I'd give it an 8/10. My sister ordered the hot chocolate, but unfortunately, she didn't enjoy it. It smelled richer than it actually tasted, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, this cafe is adorable, and the matcha lattes are definitely worth trying if you're in the area!

Yelp
Beautiful, quiet coffee shop with impeccable attention to detail! Wish I could've stayed for longer, but I just passed by briefly for a much needed dose of caffeine. The owner was friendly, laidback, and easily accommodated my request for less milk in my drink. Cute display of yogurt parfaits and pastries.

Yelp
This place had good coffee and I really enjoyed my hot mocha. I went because i wanted to sit and enjoy my coffee for a bit, but there weren't but of tables (Maybe 3-4 which were all taken). There was a counter with 4-5 stools and another counter looking out the window. Also, there was no ceramic mug like the owner's pics, so I just enjoyed out of a paper cup like everywhere else. What do you have to do to get coffee in an actual mug these days? It was good though, even if it was in paper like everywhere else.

Yelp
Dropped in quickly close to closing. Barista was friendly. Tons of seating and outlets here. Would like to come back to study. Syrup was tasty, homemade. I got the Americano

Yelp
Nice hidden proper coffee shop behind the Marriott hotel just outside the French quarter so it's a hidden gem with Seattle worthy coffee and espresso specialities.
google avatar

Yelp
The coffee is really good. The service is very friendly and personable. The shop is clean and trendy looking.

Yelp
Super cute cafe with yummy seasonal drinks! I came in a few times this week during a work trip and it was awesome. I love that they open real EARLY. 7am - which isn't the case for a lot of other shops in the area. I highly recommend. They have a really cute space inside as well.

Yelp
If you want a good coffee start to the day, start at Bon Ami. Service and ambience is impeccable. No long lines, no waiting. Food is delicious but will go quick. Definitely a must if in New Orleans or Central Business District. Right behind Le Pavillion and around the corner from the Fairfield Inn.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this café because of the ratings of other Yelpers. It is a very good modern-ish coffee shop. I had a pistachio cold brew. It's more of a trendy/urban vibe than a casual study/vibe. Cute little semi-private nook in the back. Solid 4.5/5.
google avatar

Max W.

Yelp
Nice local coffee shop. Definitely more an off the beaten path vibe. Nice space with plenty of seating. It wasn't very busy when I went, though I was there on a weekday right after lunch, however, there was a constant stream of people coming and going. Seemed to be a good mix of locals and visitors. Tried a cortado and it tasted really good. The blended roast had a good flavor profile, more on the dark side, but definitely not the burned flavor type. For someone who prefers medium to light naturally processed roasts I certainly liked this one.

Yelp
A quiet place to get somewhere work done... and the people here are wonderful. For a good cup of coffee and an ambiance that is soothingly pleasing in the middle of the CBD... stop in.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop by our hotel. They have seasonal drinks and lots of open space. Everyone loves their coffee and even went back several times during our trip
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
During a recent work trip, I was able to try Cafe Bon Ami twice. Both times I loved my coffee! On the second visit, I ended up working remotely inside the cafe in a back room nook. The cafe is fairly quiet, but gets very busy very quickly. On both visits, it was only one lady working by herself as the catchier and the barista. She handled everything very well and made call-outs to her regulars. If you're in the area, make sure you stop by for a great coffee and pastry.

Yelp
Came in the day after our anniversary and Ben was on point-could have had a melt down because thing weren't working and the wifi was down but he held it together a did an amazing job !! This cute coffee shop was just what we needed first thing in the morning!! Coffee was fresh and hot !! But mainly we had great conversations with Ben!!!!

Yelp
A small little cafe. Open and well lit. Staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately im not much of a coffee drinker so I can't judge that at this time. The overall approach seems minimalist. I picked up just a small hot black tea and it was ok as far as any random cafe goes. Their focus is clearly on coffee. I think id recommend it mainly for its atmosphere. I could see myself heading here maybe to get some work done on my laptop.
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
There was only one person who was making the lattes and worked the register. She definitely knew how to multitask though and it seems like everybody in the line was a regular. The coffee was delicious and I got a ham and cheese scone, which they warmed up for me and was so tasty!
google avatar

Wanda C.

Yelp
I was in search of coffee and decided to not go to the largest coffee place and found this independent shop not far from my hotel. I should have taken more pictures. The shop is a small, cute location. We stopped in and I ordered a cinnamon roll, a scone (to take with me for later) and an iced latte. We hung out for about half an hour and watched the barista seamlessly handle a steady stream of customers, single handedly. Everything was enjoyable and if I'm in New Orleans, I'll definitely come back.

Yelp
Really great coffee and tea and ham and cheese croissant. Cute space. Deducting one star as the lady working there (seems to be the owner) is one of the unfriendliest baristas I met.
google avatar

Cassie B.

Yelp
It's not always easy to find a good Matcha latte when you're traveling. But this place has it! They also have incredible pastries, and the barista was swift and efficient while also being kind at 8 AM Hip minimalist vibe inside. Loved !!!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Stepped in around 1pm to grab a coffee after lunch and picked Cafe Bon Ami because it was well reviewed. I'm kind of sad that I did though, because they serve Cafe Grumpy beans, which, I can get in NYC. I love stopping into cafes whenever I travel because I want to try some local blends. The coffee was honestly just ok. Nothing to write home about. X had a Chai latte that he said was basically cinnamon milk.
google avatar

Melody D.

Yelp
We got an iced carmel latte and an iced latte with the lavender blueberry syrup and these were both AMAZING! I like my coffees and lattes strong with just a little sweetness. These were perfect just as they come, no special instructions needed :)

Veronica R.

Yelp
The drinks were okay and "the lady that seems to be the owner" is unwelcoming. There are so many other coffee shops to try and support their business. She looked at me with a stare "hurry up, what do you want?" I proceeded to order with a smile and selected no tip. I will not be supporting this business again. Smile and welcome your customers your job isn't that serious. It's your business go take classes that teach you good customer service.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and the barista was very friendly. She also recommended a few local restaurants that weren't "touristy."
google avatar

Monique L.

Yelp
I have to start by saying the barista who attended to us was so sweet and friendly! She was extremely attentive and gave great recommendations. The pastries were yummy and the they offered lots of coffee syrup flavors to make your coffee drink fun. Really enjoyed our coffee break here.

Nico M.

Yelp
Iced hazelnut latte and ham and cheese croissant were both great. Halfway into my drink I asked for an extra shot of espresso and they did it no charge! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
My favorite thing about traveling is finding awesome local coffee shops. Tourist traps are overrated ya know?! If you're looking for a quiet, full of ambiance, local and delicious coffee shop...this is the place for you. Within blocks of all the touristy spots, this makes a great stop before a day full of exploring. Plenty of coffee options, milk options, pastry options, & my favorite- a seasonal menu. The barista was friendly in helpful with making my decision. I opted for a hot maple cinnamon oat milk latte & it was devine!!! Definitely recommend. Everything is made to order and mine sure tasted like it was made with love. Ambiance is quite lovely! Plenty of work space, I recommend the little nook area to the right of the coffee bar. Such a good find. Will be back when in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Really really great drinks a little off canal street. The coffee is Delicious - very well made, and the homemade syrup options are stunning, have never seen such unique and such a wide variety of them anywhere else. We got the oak barrel vanilla and the honey nut in our lattes which we loved, i highly recommend the vanilla if it's available- probably the best ive ever had. Its very smooth and complex. Tried a bite of the chocolate cherry scone which was also nice.
google avatar

Mike E.

Yelp
Sitting here enjoying a delicious americano. Beautiful little shop. Each cup is individually made starting with grinding the beans for your drink. Highly recommend this place for anything coffee.
google avatar

Jessie T.

Yelp
Coffee and service was good. They keep the AC on high. I didn't find it particularly comfortable to work--mostly bar seating and handful of chairs.
google avatar

Rosalee C.

Yelp
Really good coffee and delicious pastries. I was surprised that the ham and cheese croissant was whole wheat, which tasted "healthier" than what I was going for. Modern and bright seating area. Friendly service. Wish I lived nearby because I'd come here all the time!

Yelp
I have never had a cup of coffee I didn't love, in New Orleans! I have had baristas I didn't love My coffee quest took me to Cafe Bon Ami. 1. because it was the closest in walking distance from our hotel, and I'm so glad it was. I don't know if Baristas mean to come off annoyed when they are taking my order, which consists of various choices because..teenagers. Ben was smooth as silk, and showed no annoyance when I fumbled through the family order...(hot chocolate, hot mocha w oat milk, "iced vanilla oat milk Dirty Chai", and a flat white w oat milk). His intentional preparation of every drink, and engaging in conversation ...jackpot! CBA is designed and decorated in a chic minimalist, modern style. Nice vibes for working or meeting over coffee. We will return our next visit to NO. Thanks for taking care of us today, Ben!
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Interesting seasonal varieties that all seem to taste delicious. I had the blueberry lavender latte which pretty much tasted like breakfast: blueberry pancakes. My mom had a chilli latte. It tasted like a mocha upfront which a hint of spice in the back. Service was great. Comfy seats to sit in (no outdoor seating).
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
This place was great! Not much going on on the inside, but the coffee was perfect. Also not to be dramatic, but I had the best chocolate croissant I've ever had in my life from there. 10/10

Charlotte G.

Yelp
I cannot rave about this place enough. The service is always stellar, and this is what I look for when giving any establishment my business. My go-to drink is always precisely made each visit, and I never have experienced any issues with a subpar order, or even that anxiety pang if a new person is making it. Cleanliness is always extremely important to me, and this place never disappoints. I know the ingredients are quality, and they know I'll be back!

Yelp
Looking for a local spot without the traps of tourists? Cafe Bon Ami is a solid cup without all the thrills. Simple. Tasty. Enjoy.

Teresa S.

Yelp
My daughters & I were in town the weekend of the 25th for a concert & stopped in here for coffee, my daughter & I had a matcha which I typically stay clear of because of the dirt taste from the matcha but this thing was delicious!!! NO dirt taste at all, my other daughter had the seasonal drink but I can not remember the name of it & she had it gone in a few quick sips it was so good!! I really enjoyed my almond croissant, it was very flavorful, buttery & flaky!
google avatar

Ryen B.

Yelp
Friendly staff, really fab oatmilk latte. Sadly the day I visited, they weren't serving their usual overnight oats, but I'd definitely return in hopes that it shows up again.
google avatar

Yelp
An open, light, minimalist cafe that we stumbled upon while walking around. This place had a wonderful, quiet atmosphere and the drinks we ordered were excellent! Quick, efficient service. Glad we stopped in!
google avatar

MarMar G.

Yelp
Got a chocolate croissant for breakfast, yummy. Nice barista!! Nice ambiance close to hotel!!!
google avatar

Mathew W.

Yelp
Dropped in here a couple of times during the week of Feb 26, 2024. Our hotel coffee was drinkable but it was nice to take a break and enjoy a delicious well-made cappuccino.

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Bon Ami is my favorite coffee shop! I have never had anything bad from here (and I go often), but I especially love the homemade syrups. It makes the coffee stand out compared to other coffee shops in the area. Celeste is also great, and you can tell she values all of her customers.
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop away from all the touristy spots, but still close enough to walk to from my hotel. I was in New Orleans back in April for a conference and wanted to try different places for breakfast. I stumbled upon Cafe Bon Ami and was very happy with my find. They don't have many food options, but their pastries looked great so I decided to go with the ham and cheese croissant ($4.25). I've had my share of ham and cheese croissants back in CA and this one did not disappoint although slightly pricier than ones I've had before. Don't forget to have them warm up your croissant! It's way better warm! Overall, great service, relaxing ambiance, cute decor.

Yelp
Amazing coffee! Best espresso in Nola! You have to go! They have a wonderful inside vibe and also are really fast!
google avatar

Jenna J.

Yelp
Superb local coffee shop. Great vibe. Super friendly and helpful barista. Cozy decor. Cold A/C for my preference of hot drinks in the summer. :) And an excellent fresh brown sugar latte. My drink couldn't have tasted better.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Sweet little place to get coffee etc to go. I purchased some strong delish ice coffee to take on my Adventure in the lovely city of New Orleans

Jeannine Z.

Yelp
Super cute coffee spot with a hidden nook in the back. I got lucky and was the only one there at the time. The place is very clean and welcoming. Coffee wise I loved their seasonal lavender and berry latte. It tasted just like a blueberry scone. For my pistachio lovers, their pistachio latte is a must! Not to sweet but sweet enough. Scones was a great snack to have there. Nice crunch and amazing dipped in coffee!

Angela C.

Yelp
I try to frequent local coffee houses when traveling. My first morning in New Orleans I made the mistake of going to French Truck coffee. Not terrible but not great. Thankfully I then found Café Bon Ami. My hot latte was fantastic. Perfect temperature and a really nice rich, robust flavor. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
