Café CENC

This place has been on my to-go list but didn’t had the chance. We were coming out of the metro station and there it was, we walked in without a reservation for a quick dinner before our drinks. It was amazing!! The snacks with the shrimps A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! All the dishes had reach flavours!! The service also super friendly and welcoming! The place is also so cute! Totally worth the 5 stars!!

We came to CENC based on a recommendation, and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with such warmth and genuine smiles that we immediately knew we were in a great place. We came with our 4-year-old son, and they kindly offered several seating options to make sure we were comfortable. The atmosphere was calm yet full of warmth and character — cozy lighting, thoughtful details, and a relaxed but elegant vibe. The three people who served us were all excellent hosts: attentive without being intrusive, friendly, and clearly proud of what they do. And then, the food — simply outstanding. The sausage with anise was perfectly seasoned and balanced, the squid with pickled vegetables and preserved lemon was bright and full of flavor, and the fritters were light and delicious. Every dish felt carefully crafted and full of personality. CENC is one of those rare places where everything comes together: hospitality, comfort, and exceptional food. Whether you come with friends, your partner, or family, it’s a beautiful spot to enjoy great cooking and warm service in the heart of Amsterdam.

Nice little restaurant in the centre of Amsterdam. Good food, though served in little quantaties. Extensive wine but no beer. Good atmosphere with nicely decorated little spaces on different levels. Nice outdoor terrace to enjoy a drink and the sun.

At the time of writing this review, a 4.3 rating is honestly a joke. I work internationally and I’m a serious food lover. Everywhere I go, in every country, I’m always searching for top-notch culinary experiences. If you want true, world-class quality, go to Wanne de Vries and his restaurant CENC. The dishes are dynamic, surprising, and flavorful through and through. This is food that actually amazes. In a time when so many restaurants are just trying to meet the quota, CENC sets the standard instead. Simply incredible.

This place was nothing less than lovely. The flavours were subtle and tasteful. The waiters were very kind and the background music and lighting were delightfully curated. I've been to a few other places where I gave 5 stars, but I would give even more to this place if possible.

We had a beautiful dinner here - we came because of a recommendation from a friend and were amazed by the excellent service from all the waiters. The food was incredible - I particularly recommend the sea bass with guanciale

I was really excited to try this new place as I love bar Parry and Balthazar’s. The place has potential, it’s a super cute space with nice decoration divided in different floors which makes it feel spacious but still intimate. We were sitting inside but there is also a terrace that seemed nice. The only thing is that there is not enough staff, there were only a couple of waitresses that could barely attend all the tables (not their fault) so obviously food took ages to arrive. The food was really good, classic small plates thing that every place in Amsterdam seems to be doing, nevertheless quite tasty.

Excellent cafe for dinner near the canals. House white wine and cocktails are great. All the food, and especially the petongles, were delicious. Great outdoor seating.
