Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake’s First Quebec Chapter Opens Today — And More Intel [Updated] | Eater Montreal

"In Verdun I learned that Montreal’s third cat café and the neighborhood’s first, Café Chat, is set to open on August 13th; they plan to serve local soft drinks, coffees, teas, chocolates and milkshakes during summertime alongside vegetarian and vegan toasts, croque-monsieurs, salads, soups and desserts, and they plan to launch weekend brunches. The café will include a boutique selling cat-themed ephemera and will help facilitate adoptions by coordinating with the refuge, and fans can stay informed via the café’s Facebook page." - JP Karwacki

This place is a gem! From the moment you walk in, you can see how happy and healthy all the cats are. Their coats are incredibly shiny and smooth, a real testament to how much the owner cares. Paired with a great cup of tea in such a cozy setting, it made for a perfect, relaxing visit. Highly recommend!

If you are a cat lover, you will love this place. I find it hard to get work done here because you want to pet all the cats. Or play with them. I went in awaiting for my car, it was nice and quiet, not too much people. I stay for several hours before I left, I found the early afternoon it start to fill. Food was very good and so was the coffee. Staff is very helpful, kind and considerate. They have wifi while you are there if you. The cats had all changed since the first time I was there. I was happy to know they were up for adoption. You can get to know your car before you, adoption them and bring them home There are lots of souvenirs you can buy to help support the cats that living there at the moment.

Super great vibe! Had a delicious sandwich (goat cheese, squash and Walnut, would 100% reccomend) and a nice pumpkin spice latte that had latte art, friendly cats, creates a really cute atmosphere between the clients, it was nice to laugh at the cats being silly with strangers. Friendly staff, quick service and nice decor!

This is one of the better cat cafes. The cats are very relaxed and not stressed out. The environment is calm, very spacious. Cats have their own space. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about each cat's personalities. The coffee and choice of menu items was diverse. My friend had a grilled cheese with pears. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed and you can tell that with the cats that they are not stressed out like some other places. Also, I do want to give a shout out that I love the thought that was put into this cafe including the washroom having feminine hygiene products available for customers is above and beyond, I wish more places did that.

The cats are so sweet and🐱😻 plentiful 🐈🐈‍⬛. In this orange kitten I experienced the entire world. Be careful not to step on them, they crawl close to your feet when you crouch. Everyone seems super respectful of the cats and looks like they know how to approach / interact with them appropriately, which is a relief since there were no instructions or rules told to us. Would be good to communicate some rules just in case, as I wouldn’t want to do something wrong by accident (like picking one up?). Again though all the patrons and cats were A1 10/10

Went with family, best experience at an independent café. The cats were incredibly friendly and at one point I had three come and settle down next to me. Baked goods were delicious, and they don't over sweeten their tea. Was pleasantly surprised by a very cuddly cat waiting in the bathroom. Very chill vibe, will absolutely be visiting again.

The young girl at cash is the only person to speak to if you have questions. She was very helpful and explained what to pay attention to (no picking cats up or feeding them). I got a matcha latte - nothing special or groundbreaking but I’m happy the funds go towards housing the cats and taking care of them. The cats are so playful and energetic! They respond well to cat toys especially. It was invigorating to just sit and cat watch, lol.

About 5 years ago, I adopted my sweet cat Lucid from Refuge Animex through Café Chato, and she’s still with me today — healthy, happy, and so deeply loved 💛 Luci was my first rescue. Since then, I’ve also adopted her two granddaughters — Soussou and her sister lily — who have brought even more joy and love into my life. All of them are fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and living in a clean, calm, and loving home. If you’re considering adoption, I highly recommend visiting Café Chato. It’s not just a charming cat café — it’s a safe space where cats from Refuge Animex are given a second chance at life, and where you just might meet your perfect furry soulmate. I’m truly grateful to the founder and team for making this beautiful mission possible. Please follow Refuge Animex and visit Café Chato — adoption saves lives, and love begins with a visit 🐾

Yelp
A really well maintained cat cafe! There are tons of toys and structures for the cats, plenty of varied seating for customers, a wide menu, and merch! It gets very crowded here but the cats are very good at handling all the people and noise. Some cats manage to sleep even with all the activity happening around them.

Yelp
A cafe with a selection of drinks and desserts. We came here around 3:30 in the afternoon. All of the cats were asleep, although later, during our visit, one woke up. The cats here are for adoption. The gift selection is less customized but very cat-themed. Clean bathrooms. Great service.

Yelp
The coffee is great and the cats are adorable. It's a great conception but they need more staff. People are grabbing sleeping cats and waking them up. Kids are literally running and picking cats up and walking around with them (yes I know this is on the parents). They have rules about not disturbing the cats but need no one is enforcing them.
