"Sandwich happens to be the oldest town on the Cape, and even though it wasn’t named after a turkey on rye, it’s still a great place to get…a sandwich. Come to Cafe Chew for a tuna salad with lettuce, tomato, and onion on multi-grain, or something for breakfast like The Cody Chew with two fried eggs, melted cheddar, and bacon on a ciabatta roll.  The inside space is small, so head outside to their large garden patio with your pastries and sandwiches. This is one of your best options in the area if you need something quick, or if you’ve got a bunch of hungry kids to feed." - Jennifer Mattson

Absolutely loved this place. The food was delicious, and the overall vibe was just perfect. They have a beautiful patio out back that's great for enjoying your meal outdoors. You place your order at the counter, and the staff brings it right to your table with a smile. Everyone was warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you're looking for a tasty, relaxed spot to grab a bite!

Google
Vibrant and cheery Sandwichery in Sandwich, MA offering a variety of menu items, coffee, bakery items (and really, how can you not get a sandwich in Sandwich????) which is obviously extremely popular. We chose to get a tuna melt, a freshly brewed unsweetened green tea, and pastrami sandwich for take out. All was fantastic. Oh and an apple dirt bomb!!!! The staff were all so friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Parking is n lot shared lot with other businesses which was packed when we arrived on a low season, rainy day. So be prepared for high season. Don't think they take reservations. Highly recommend!

When you visit Sandwich, Ma., you must have a breakfast at Cafe’ Chew. The sandwiches of any type are huge and most of all made fresh. Coffee is delicious and atmosphere is delightful. Got to watch a morning crew of ROMEO - retired old men eating out at a table next to us. You have to try the Apple Bomb. Pastries made fresh each day

Google
Been here more than a few times and the staff continues to hit it out off the park each time. Atmosphere is great- it’s got a bit of an old school feel with the wood flooring and a really cozy patio out back. The sandwich menu is diverse enough to accomodate even the pickiest of eaters- there’s something for everyone here. I’m convinced this place could exist as just a bakery- the cookies and muffins are as good as the sandwiches, which is very high praise. The food is fresh and the attention to detail is remarkable. From the Caprino peppers (mild or hot) to the homemade basil drizzle on the “Godfather” sandwich, it’s an experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else. The place is clean, the staff is very friendly and the food is truly outstanding. I give it 5 stars but I’d give it more if I could. If you’re local or if you’re just passing through town, you owe it to yourself to grab a bite here (they served breakfast sandwiches too!).

Google
I loved this cafe. It was popular with the locals and there was a little wait but well worth it. I had the town neck special. So good 😊

Google
Unlimited refills on iced tea and coffee… amazing fried eggs and bacon on perfectly fresh slices of bread. Couldn’t ask for better service too.

Google
Highly recommend for a quick bite! Their sandwiches are delicious and the vibe is great! Cool outdoor patio as well. It can get pretty busy and hectic in there but they’re usually quick! Definitely a must try for a quick lunch

Google
Just enjoyed lunch at Café Chew with my family and we all had such a great experience! I needed an accommodation for my sandwich and they were more than gracious about making it the way I needed. My niece was also gifted a free cookie! Everyone working here is so sweet and welcoming, and they even help you secure a table if you want to sit down to eat. The bakery treats were absolutely delicious, with many gf options available. Definitely going to be coming back next time we're in Sandwich!

Steven S.

Yelp
Stoped in for a quick coffee and muffin. Lemon Poppy Seed. Was absolutely delicious, moist and perfectly cooked. Service was quick for an extremely busy morning! Will be back to try out more offerings for sure!

Shea C.

Yelp
Solid sandwiches. I highly recommend getting any sandwich on the ciabatta bread and always get the blueberry muffin.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our lunch here. They have a big selection of salads, sandwiches and soups, coffees and pastry. What I loved: 1. Freshly made bread 2. Meats produced without hormones, erc. 3. Unique & fun sandwiches I had rurkey breast with stuffing, cranberries on cranberry bread. My mom enjoyed the chicken salad, made with cranberries. We sat outside and enjoyed the great weather. They do have indoor seating as well.

Yelp
We are so glad we stopped in here - and have driven by the road it's off of numerous times, without ever stopping in until this week. They hand you a sign when you walk in, you pick a table, review the menu, and then order from the counter, and they bring it out to you. Our sandwiches came out fairly quickly after we ordered them. My husband had one of the specialty black board sandwiches - the Godfather (wine cured salami, imported Italian ham, lettuce, heirloom tomato, fresh mozzarella, and pesto on a ciabatta) - it's apparently pretty popular, and I can see why, it was delicious! I went with a panini - the Umbrian (imported salami, ham, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and herb mayo). Both came with a pickle, and of course, cape cod potato chips. Both sandwiches were outstanding. We will absolutely be back to try more of the menu!

Elisa F.

Yelp
Love love loved this spot! This was our last breakfast on the Cape and I'm so happy we stopped here. They have a dog friendly patio and great breakfast sandwich menu so we wanted to stop in. It's seat yourself and you order at the counter but a server will bring out your food. We ordered 'The French' and 'The Cody Chew' and they were both perfect! Great coffee options too. Definitely make a stop here!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I generally don't give five stars to a restaurant on the first try, but I'll give them 4.5. The sausage soup was it's very good, and the toffee chocolate chip cook was excellent. One of the best cookies I've had in a long long time. Service was excellent too. Prices were reasonable. I'll be back!

Rob A.

Yelp
Sent by a local, I appreciated Cafe Chew's long list of great sandwiches. The Portofino was an adult grilled cheese on grilled bread w/ fig jam. A winner. Toffee choco chip cookie was delicious too. Busy and cool spot.

Nancy F.

Yelp
This is a great breakfast and lunch spot! Very efficient. You ASR's shown the location of your table inside or out under umbrellas. You look at the menu and then order your food , bakery and drink from several persons. The food is then brought to your table... the food was delicious ! Huge portions! The coffees are all individually made iced or hot! This is truly a fantastic breakfast place to eat at daily and reasonably priced!

Chris A.

Yelp
There is a reason this place has great reviews! It's fantastic! Between the great pastries, awesome coffee, incredible salads, and outstanding sandwich offerings, you can bet everyone in your party will be happy. I have been to this place many, many times over the years, and it has always been top-notch.

Yelp
Amazing Service, Food and Seating. Tried the Ambrosia Pink Lemonade Iced Tea and Ice Coffee The Scandinavian and the tuscan

Ben M.

Yelp
Very welcoming environment. You check-in and indicate if you're dining-in or getting takeout. I sampled The Hippie breakfast wrap, The Canadian sandwich, and a cranberry muffin. Everything tasted very fresh. The coffee was terrific. There's a lovely patio on which to enjoy your meal and the staff was incredibly friendly.

Debra W.

Yelp
The food was very good. The service was friendly and timely. The ambiance was wonderful. Many friendly patrons and a pleasant Cape Cod decor

Lisa D.

Yelp
It might take a few times around the block to find this place if, like us, you're not from the area, but I'm glad we found it! We got a couple of salads and they were incredible. First of all, they're absolutely enormous. 1 can easily feed 2. Second, super, super fresh! The greens are amazing! My only small complaint would be I added grilled chicken to one of them and for $5, it's a pretty small portion...3oz on its best day would be my guess so maybe skip that. It's not needed anyway. Sandwiches looked great too! That'll be the next thing I try!

Manya C.

Yelp
This place probably has the best sandwiches in Sandwich town. They have specials on the board and not online, like lobster roll and "bahí mi". Their lobster roll is pretty fresh with good bread. For bahí mi, I would suggest them calling it something else, because it's actually pretty good as sandwich but not close to actual bahí mi, maybe called something Asian Fusion Roasted pork sandwich etc. They have a very cute backyard for seating. Lines get long, but you can go ahead to ask to reserve a table before waiting in line. We ordered almond latte and caramel iced latte, both are delicious.

Ken L.

Yelp
I can't say enough about Cafe Chew. The quality of service exceeded my expectations. You combine that with home cooking and the small town feel, I am all in. You can't go wrong with anything, but breakfast is my favorite.

Frank G.

Yelp
This is the best breakfast/lunch Cafe period. If you are having a breakfast pastry, pancakes or eggs, a yogurt parfait or just delicious coffee, you are in the right place. The sandwiches choices and combos are perfectly made and are packaged superbly for the beach with Cape Cod chips & a dill pickle spear. The bragging about the Chew's lobster roll is justified with 6oz. of meat with a little mayo on brioche is the best deal on the Cape @ $27! It all starts at the top, Tobin & Bob the couple that own Cafe Chew are hard working congenial hosts that trickles down to their energetic staff that enjoy working for them. If you like fresh roasted meats, non packaged bread and even a choice of cane sugar soft drinks go to Cafe Chew. Oh, people wait for them to come out of the oven is the famous Jordan Marsh recipe blueberry muffins, delicious and not too sweet.

Grace D.

Yelp
This is a late review forl July 2022. Perhaps we came on an off day. We had to wait to order, and had to stand out in the heat while waiting to do so. After finally ordering, we did secure a table outside, also a long wait to be served. Food was good, but not exceptional for the price. It was unusual to pay extra for genuine maple syrup, which we have never encountered elsewhere. Would maybe consider ordering takeout lunch next time.

Corrie B.

Yelp
Just stopped in with my boyfriend for a quick breakfast before we hit the road back home. He got the Italian Breakfast Sandwich and I got the French Breakfast sandwich. We placed our order to go and we not waiting long. They were both absolutely incredible. So fresh, toasted to perfection and with such fluffy eggs. We will be returning anytime we are in the area again.

Michelle K.

Yelp
Amazing! Super cute decor, great service and delicious food! It's always busy, because it is always good. Please be patient during the summer.

Misty C.

Yelp
We were visiting Cape Cod for the week, and Cafe Chew was on our list of places to try out. I'm so glad we did! Upon arriving, we hopped in a short line that moved pretty quickly in order to place our order at the counter. We easily found seating outdoors at a patio table, and our food was delivered promptly. I had the Smoky Dutchman, and it was excellent! The sandwich was actually pretty big, it had a generous portion of turkey on it, the pretzel roll was very flavorful, and the herbed mayo really tied it all together. My husband ordered the Pilgrim, and he graciously agreed to trade a half of his sandwich for a half of mine. It's hard for me to pass up a Thanksgiving style sandwich, and this one was every bit as good as I hoped. It's hard to beat putting stuffing on a sandwich, and the cranberry pecan bread was super tasty! We will definitely return when we vacation here next summer!

Ann M.

Yelp
I've heard such great things about Cafe Chew from friends who frequent Cape Cod, so I was excited to try it out myself when I visited this past weekend. Not only was the food amazing (I ordered The French and added avocado--yum!!), but the service was unmatched! The owner, Jimmy, went above and beyond to make our experience truly great, and I am so appreciative. Next time I'm back at Cafe Chew, I need to check out their bakery selection--the brownies looked insane!!

Lauren M.

Yelp
Would not recommend this place at all. Yes we got there when they were going to soon be closing but happily served us. Just as we sat down to eat, one of the young kids came over and said "Let me get this out of the way for you " when our plates were clearly full of food. It's common sense to use your eyes to see how much food someone has before you start to try and clear a table. My advice, clean house or retrain staff to use common sense.

Bob D.

Yelp
Fantastic, tremendous, stupendous! Best damn sandwiches on the Cape. The Bánh mì was phenomenal- tasty pork, spicy, crisp carrot & cukes, cilantro. Just perfect. Also recommend The Pilgrim- Thanksgiving between 2 slices of cranberry walnut bread! Be ready for a bit of a line.

D. R.

Yelp
Hostess was a real pain -- unfriendly and aggressive. We were given the wrong food, which looked somewhat like what we ordered, and we were puzzled, but then she came swooping in and scolded us loudly for not alerting her to the error-- NOT our error. We subsequently saw her antagonize people at two other tables. Will not go back there. It looked like a fun place, but was not. Also very crowded for lunch, even at 11:30. Food -- when we got the right stuff, was average.

Sophia D.

Yelp
Staff was extremely friendly, food came out quickly. great location in sandwich MA. we were able to choose our seating outside and food was brought to us

Melissa V.

Yelp
Very nice spot. We arrived on a Thursday morning and there was already quite a crowd. We waited in line to order and they had a bunch of tables out front that were all full, but we could see through the back door of the cafe that there were more tables out back. We ordered our breakfasts and coffees, they asked where we planned to sit so they would know which area to deliver our breakfasts. They had a station to fix your coffee and I quickly realized this was some strong coffee... I needed plenty of milk to lighten it up!! We were able to find some empty Adirondack chairs to sit at and a few minutes later someone came out calling my name that our breakfasts were here. We both enjoyed our breakfasts and we loved how pretty it was sitting out back there! We would stop there again if we were in the area.

Woof W.

Yelp
The food is very good. Try their Reuben sandwich... it is amazing. They are under new management and are striving hard to maintain the previous high standard

Paul M.

Yelp
Having heard how busy this place can get, we waited until tourist season was over before stopping by. We also ended up arriving after the lunch rush was over - some time between 1:30 and 2:00 - and that also worked in our favor. There was a significant line of people waiting to be seated indoors, but one staff member kept triaging the line to keep it moving. I ended up waiting longer for our sandwiches to be made than I did waiting to order. What awaited me was a near-perfect Grilled Reuben sandwich - equal parts messy and delicious - while my wife had the "Smoky Dutchman", with smoked turkey, smoked gouda and bacon. It's just far enough out of the way from Centerville to require a special trip, but also good enough to find a reason to do so. In other words, we'll be back!

M J.

Yelp
Quality food. Great menu variety. Owner present. Well staffed. A recipe for a line out the door in high season but take out is quick and there are many picnic spots nearby.

John D.

Yelp
Ya that's a big NO for me! Three egg omelette ok, but if you want a western omelette add 1.99 for the ham, another 1.00 each for peppers, onion, cheese+ . Stand in a crazy line, pay for your order up front, that's where I walked out. Breakfast Sandwiches, omelettes, an what have you. It's not for me

Robert B.

Yelp
Love this place! However, last visit we were charged a credit card fee. No notice of this prior to our order/purchase. Unacceptable way to do business! Plenty of options s in the area.

Brittany M.

Yelp
Great location with lovely aesthetics. My food was good. My friend had the pancakes which were delicious. I would visit again and try something different.

Christine B.

Yelp
For the love of god, this place has GOT to get another bathroom. The long line waiting for the single stall, which is located in the kitchen, is disgusting and frustrating. It also gives an unwanted view of the lackluster staff hand washing and lack of hairnets or masks. The food is ok.

Nancy H.

Yelp
Still just as delicious as when they first opened. Cafe Chew is a gem in Sandwich. I do enjoy the atmosphere, but tend to do more takeout when we come here. Their breakfast sandwiches are awesome. Our favorite is the New Orleans, which has andouille breakfast sausage & spicy mayo. The Cody Chew and the German are also delicious!

Jenn S.

Yelp
We love Chew!!! We come here at least once a summer (not 2020, unfortunately) and are always very happy with our meals and the service. This was our first time coming for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Huge portions and lots of flavor. I don't love that everything was in to-go containers (styrofoam!!), but I'm sure it's a covid issue. I love the new patio out back. The grassy area was nice, but now it feels more "put together." If you're in the area, go here!!!

Sara A.

Yelp
I rarely comment on yelp but I just had to share how great I felt this spot is! We stopped on our way to our vacation rental and our way back home at the end of our vacation. They are very organized and kept the line moving to order food while they also reserve a table so when your food is ready you will have a place to sit. The food was outstanding, we ordered omelets, pancakes and the salmon platter and all were so fantastic! I highly recommend this place for the food but also excellent service!

Bonnie C.

Yelp
I love this little gem of a cafe! The food is excellent! The service and staff are awesome! And I love the outdoor eating space! Everything at Cafe Chew is amazing!!

Coco M.

Yelp
Pilgrim Sandwich was right out of the Turkey dinner textbook! Greek Yogurt parfait (homemade everything) delish! Service was nice. You order at counter but can get a "reserve tag" for your table. We'll be back!

Greg W.

Yelp
Cafe Chew is everything you could want in a lunch spot by the beach after having seafood for 5 straight meals. They offer an array of deli sandwiches, specials that change daily, soups, salads, and a full coffee bar. We opted for the Bahn Mi (special) and the the tabouli plate with Tuscan veggie soup. While most reviewers touted the typical sandwiches we wanted to test the international waters and found them to have done their research to avoid the typical Americanization mistakes on these classic dishes. The care and effort on the nuances of these three very different dishes speak to the nature of the establishment and the owners. They are doing things right or not at all and that's impressive in a town where you find seafood, pub, and dive joints. The process overall can be a little chaotic in that you get an assigned table, order, then sit; but in the end we were treated to a meal that was executed perfectly for a great value and served by friendly people. Will return on next trip to the cape.

Catherine H.

Yelp
What a terrific find! I was looking for a casual place to meet an off-cape colleague for breakfast so looking for close to the bridge. Found this little gem through Yelp and I am so glad I did! The inside was adorable - very New England/Cape Cod. The outside patio looked delightful as well. The food selection was innovative and prepared very well. If I lived in Sandwich I would go there every week! As it is, I will make a special journey every now and again.

Joel P.

Yelp
A small wait, but menus were available in line, very helpful people for the first timers! Friendly staff and the owner made my sandwich (didn't know it at the time) wife and I had the San marino (I think) Sami, it was sweet a little spicy (but not hot) . Very good and not typical flavors. This place is a little like panera, but local with more flavorful food and super helpful staff that like their job! Will go again the next time on the Cape, it was a nice find.

G D.

Yelp
Solid 4.5 We had breakfast. We stood in line to order while the host showed us a table he for us. Our meal was brought to us in cardboard to go boxes. We had multigrain pancakes, eggs, apple chicken sausage, Canadian bacon and mutigrain toast. All done correctly and tasty. The side fruit was a treat with fresh bananas, melon, pineapple. And mandarin oranges. We'd return.

Brant M.

Yelp
Best sandwich shop I've ever visited, ive had the mushroom sandwich, hummus tabouli wrap, and the mother hen, the atmosphere is very unique and welcoming with an old school feel, the food is fresh and delicious and the price in my opinion is below what they could ask. Price to quality of food is excellent i heard this place wont be around forever and thats a shame because its one of my daughter's favorite places to eat. Your missing out if you dont try it while you can! Thank you guys for being awesome at the cafe chew!

RoadTrip N.

Yelp
Great sandwiches in Sandwich! We had the Turkey gobbler Thanksgiving left-over type sandwich on a cranberry nut bread, the Turkey was thick sliced and served warm with stuffing- a perfect sandwich even on a sunny summer day. Indoor/outdoor seating and lots to choose from on the menu. The kids had plain grilled cheese or tuna fish, the adults a Nordic salmon & caper connection. Great place for a quick bite, to sit in, or to go.

Wendy B.

Yelp
Love this place - great sandwiches, soups and salads. Everything is healthy too !! I highly recommend.

Rick F.

Yelp
Nice spot and many more unique tasty options. Good coffee. Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast sandwich was a little simpler than anticipated, but was still something different and easily beats a fast food breakfast sandwich.

Joyce B.

Yelp
Great service very friendly staff. I had the Cobb salad and the dressing was amazing. Soup... yummmy and let's just say the cookies were the best I've had in a very very long time! We sat outside and it was perfectly shaded on a nice hot day.

Cong L.

Yelp
First time here since the pandemic. Food is still fabulous! We ordered Alsatian sandwich and Cape Cobb Salad. The the food is fresh, and flavor is rich. Definitely highly recommended!

Selina T.

Yelp
Went for breakfast. The guy at the register scolded the young lady at the door helping people. I felt bad for her. Then asking him what the sides were was like pulling teeth. He said them loud and rudely like us from NY should know... We went outside for our food. Food was okay. Wouldn't recommend it. Nothing special for the price.

Aiden C.

Yelp
My food was disgusting and soggy I got a breakfast sandwich the egg was very overcooked and they added way to much garlic powder.
