Warm Up With Creative Hot Chocolate in D.C. - Eater DC

"At a shop entirely dedicated to chocolate, a strong hot cocoa is a must. Café Chocolat offers three choices: dark, milk, or white chocolate (starting at $4.95)." - Lani Furbank, Adele Chapin

We didn’t have anything to eat but we had three different hot chocolates and the coffee. The coffee is la Colombe and is a solid choice. The dark hot chocolate is easy to get vegan with oat or soy milk. The place was packed but service was fast and friendly. There are two bars to sit at (10 stools or so) and three tables, each with a bench and a stool. The people next to us got a deconstructed s’more and it look really good.

The best hot chocolate in DC. Freshly prepared with a choice of dark, milk, or white chocolate and topped with fresh cream and spice. American coffee was also flavorful and prefer the taste over the Pike. Plenty of seating and fast, friendly service.

☕💎 Wow, glad we were early for our tour as this place was such a gem to find! The coffee, smores cocoa & hot chocolate were Not only a work of Art, they were absolutely delicious too 😋! We highly suggest the Smores cocoa and it is shareable enough for two! 💏 👥😁 The workers were not just friendly & accomodating, they actually engaged in a conversation with customers and checked in on customers to ensure if they needed anything else. 🔄🌎 The place was clean and organized. They obviously prided themselves in their work environment and in the planet by using materials that were either reusable or recyclable. 🍰😀 The drinks were not the only items that were delicious, the pastries were yummy too! 🚻👍 Bathroom was nice & clean. 🇺🇸👎 Unfortunately the only downside, Does Not Offer a Military Discount 😞.

Really awesome place, they serve coffee, hot chocolate, pastries and chocolates. Everything is beautiful and fantastically tasty. They also offer non dairy milks, which still taste great. Also just ask for extra chocolate to make it extra thick. They have a selection of handmade Eastern European pastries, bureks, which are delicious as well.

It's the second time we are here , after a very good first time which actually made me think that it's one of the best coffees I've tasted in the US. The place was crowded as expected , but there were too much pressure on the barista which effected the coffee temperature/quality. A place like that should not compromise, especially during the weekends, on the service level. Will be back for sure , just probebly on a low traffic time.

Great coffee, excellent service, great little place to chill. If you are in the DC area, I recommend taking a walk to this unique little coffee and chocolate bar. They offer an interesting assortment of chocolate from all over the world. They also have pastries and breakfast items to choose from. Try the mocha and ask for a recommendation, the servers know their stuff.

Delicious hot chocolate! We shared the smores, which I thought was a bit expensive for the quantity but it was a really special and beautiful treat (especially with the just-torched marshmallows!). I enjoyed it but would probably just get a plain dark hot chocolate next time. The dark hot chocolate was a tiny bit too sweet for my taste, but that's mostly a matter of personal preference as I like mine pretty bitter!

We got the White option for the hot chocolate and it was THE BEST hot chocolate I've ever had. It was very well made. The description of sweet, buttery and creamy is spot on!
