The Best Dishes Eater SF Editors Ate This Week: Spring 2023 | Eater SF

"The kare kare tasted like the food you grew up with: comforting and nostalgic, with a peanut-based stew filled with tender oxtail and tripe, green beans and eggplant; eaten over steamed white rice, the slightly sweet sauce plays against the intense umami of bagoong (fermented shrimp paste), which cuts through the richness and lifts each spoonful." - Lauren Saria

We came here for breakfast as we wanted Filipino food. We were seated right away. There is plenty of seating. The staff are friendly and attentive. My coffee ☕️ cup never ran dry. We had Lechon Kawali, Tapsilog, Longsilog, Garlic Fried Rice, and Wonton Soup 🍲 . All the food was well prepared and delicious!! I give a strong recommendation for any interested takers to eat here!! Located inside the Lucky Chances Casino in Colma, California.

Someone recommended the Goto here, and since we were in the area, we had to give it a try. My husband and I arrived around 9 PM on a Monday night, and I was surprised by how busy it was for such a late hour. Luckily, we only waited a couple of minutes before being seated, and we were given menus right away. We weren’t super hungry—just curious to try their Goto (beef tripe rice soup)—so we ordered that along with Lechon Kawali (crispy fried pork belly) on the side. I was hoping they had Tokwa’t Baboy to pair with the Goto, but the Lechon Kawali would have to do. Their menu is quite extensive, but we kept it simple. Our food arrived after about 15 minutes. Despite how busy it was, our server was very kind and attentive throughout. The Goto was solid—the tripe was impressively tender and made the dish. The Lechon Kawali, however, was a bit underwhelming compared to versions we’ve had at other Filipino spots in our area. It also felt a little pricey, hmmm maybe pork is more expensive in Colma?

Solid spot for late night eats post club when we were in our 20s. Lots of people come here before or after the airport since they’re 24 hours. They have American, Filipino, and Chinese food. I love getting their silogs - meat, sunny side up egg, garlic fried. I like their tocino and bangus. They’re known for their kare kare and spaghetti. Their bangus Sisig is good and one time we just asked for Sabaw. The staff are super friendly and for birthdays we got a cheesecake! They have halo halo here too. Located at the lucky chances casino across from the cemetery. There’s a parking garage as well as parking lot outside and surrounding.

June 2025 - Party of 3 @ 10:30p Long story short, we walked-in the restaurant undecided whether to order for take-out or dine-in but since the cashier was in a bit of a rush I ended up ordering my two items for take out (Halo-halo and Tocilog). A minute or two after I had already paid for my order, we changed our minds and ask to be seated .. my bad! I then asked for the halo-halo to be served at the table instead. Anyways, the cashier said it was okay and sat us down in a booth. We were unsure but for what it looked like, it was a change of shift. A couple servers passed right by us with NO eye contact. We probably waited close to about 30 minutes by the time someone actually took my friends’ order. Now, let’s go back to my “take out” order, you’d think it would be ready after all we’ve been sitting down with our glasses of water for the past 30 mins which took maybe another 20 mins for my friend’s order to arrive = 50 mins and still NOTHING. Where does the confusion lie?! There I was thinking the cashier understood the assignment but apparently not! :P Come to find out, they were hesitant to provide service because I ordered for “take-out” and that they will not be able to add a “table” service charge since it was already paid for. It was never our intention to cheat them out on an extra $5-$7 tip, if that was the case. We had such a great laugh out of the situation so friend left a 35% tip! Also, given that it’s located inside Lucky Chances, always expect to drive around a couple of times for parking and walk through clouds of smoke! Halo-halo was pretty good and the same goes for the Tocilog ºoº

Went at like 0200, seated immediately in terms of price and serving size its very valid. A good place for asian food for a 24hr location. Came for the filipino food but they also offer modern breakfast and some Chinese food. 👍 dont got photos but ate it up.

Tucked inside Lucky Chances Casino, this spot offers traditional Filipino cuisine. I remember it as a go-to stop after a fun night out. I’ve also been here for breakfast, and it’s always delicious with great value for your money.

Let's face it. Most of the patrons are customers at the casino. But there are a few folks that come to Lucky Chances for the food. I'm one of them. As a customer of Cafe Colma for about 20 years, I keep coming back because I really enjoy the food and atmosphere. The variety on the menu its pretty good, but I usually have the same food. Filipino breakfast. The ladies that work here are always so nice. They feel like they are your aunties. The cooks are consistent, food quality food for a fair price. Cafe Colma used to be an affordable option when taking the family out for something different. No longer cheap. Expect to pay about $25 per person for dinner, beverage, and tip. It gets crowded, so plan to wait for your table. But it's worth the wait.

Since there was no choice but to go to the cemetery across the street, we came here for lunch. The menu includes Filipino, Chinese, and American dishes. My dad ordered the American waffle combo $18 the waffle was dry, I ordered the special of the day roast pork, it’s ok $19.90, and we also ordered HK style noodle, which was really bad, the noodles were old and not crispy, and the soup only had 4 shrimps and greens and mushrooms $21. Service is nice . Saturday lunchtime full house, omg . I think maybe most of people like us , no we here can go because we don’t want to drive far .

Yelp
Finally, I had a chance to try out Cafe Colma. It feels sacrilegious that I haven't been in this Filipino staple since I came to America in the late 90's. We have just arrived in SFO. Hungry, I would not let this opportunity pass. Arrived at Lucky Chances late night, and the casino is still popping. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for our party of six. I have been craving Tapsilog, so that what I ordered. We had Pinakbet, Nilagang Baboy, and some Deep Fried tofu to share with everyone. Unfortunately, they only had Nilagang Bangus left so we had that instead. My Tapsilog is straight to the point: delicious beef, proper garlic rice, and egg cooked to my liking. The fried tofu was surprisingly yummy as well. And the Pinakbet and Nilaga? Well its as good as any home cooked Filipino meal. Overall we were satisfied with our dinner and I am glad that I finally checked off Cafe Colma off my list.

Yelp
You're not here for 5 star service but the food is drunchies personified. It has a old school diner ambiance and a great spot to go even at 2 am for some of the best Filipino food in the nation. Highly recommend: kare kare, lechon kawali, pork adobo

Yelp
Cafe Colma has been on my list of restaurants to try at least once for a while now, and we finally pulled the trigger and came in a group of 5 on a Saturday evening around 11pm. Despite the late hour, there was a sizable line outside, and we probably waited for around 30-40 minutes to get a table after putting our name down on the list. It's really packed in here, and super busy, with barely any space inbetween tables; a real old school dinner vibe. We got a lot of food to share, all of which was great, comforting food; be warned that rice comes in pretty large portions, and typically I would probably only half of one order here. -Tortang Talong ($15.95): large portion, and reasonably priced, this was pretty good! -Tapsilog ($18.95): Good garlic rice, runny sunny side eggs, though the meat portion was on the smaller side Lechon Kawali ($21.95): SUPER fatty, hot and crispy, this is great as long as you don't mind the fatty pieces; I usually enjoy it, but a good number of pieces were ALL fat, no meat at all. Sinigang Pork Spareribs ($19.95): this is VERY sour and pretty salty, so be warned. Good way to get some veggies in though, and the pork spareribs were nice and tender Ginataang Bilo Bilo ($9.95): nice creamy, coconutty dessert, but a lot of starchy sweet potato/taro bits, we would've preferred more sago Turon a la mode ($12.95): this was great, though not sure why it's called a la mode since there's Overall, a good place to get some of the classic dishes if you're craving it at odd hours, since this place is 24/7, but be ready to wait a long time to get seated and get your food. Food is a little on the pricier side and I don't see myself coming here often other than the odd day I have a very specific craving in the middle of the night.

Yelp
We decided to come here for dinner after car shopping with our friend on auto row nearby. We parked in the underground parking garage and took the elevator up to the main floor of the casino where the cafe is located. We were led to a nice booth by the window- you get a view of the outdoor parking lot. The cafe offers Filipino & Chinese cuisine. The three of us shared- * Kare kare - very tasty in a thick stewy sauce. It was hard to distinguish the oxtail stew meat if it wasn't still on the bone. * lechon - excellent pork belly. The skin was very crispy and good amount of pork to fat. * BBQ pork chow fun - great wok umami. It was our friend's first time eating here. She enjoyed everything. Service was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Iykyk this place is a Bay Area staple. I've been to this place so many times and it just crossed my mind, why haven't I reviewed this place yet lol. I came in and ordered the Bansilog combo with tapa as my meat option. The food here is decent. It definitely hits the spot after a night out. The service here comes and goes depending on the day. On most days I've been here, I've received satisfactory service. This restaurant is located inside a casino and the parking can be rough depending what time you visit. All in all this place is one my go to spots after a night out in the city. Try it out if you like!

Yelp
Happened to be in the area and stopped by for another hearty breakfast. The eggs on longanisa dish was a feast for the eyes (and the stomach) and the lonsilog combo platter was also very tasty. Food was served very quickly which was perfect as we didn't have very much time to visit. Never ending coffee refills was also amazing. Overall cozy spot to come and enjoy some Filipino comfort food!

Yelp
If you're craving Filipino food--and just about everything else--they've got it! Open late at night with plenty of parking, it's the perfect spot to satisfy your hunger anytime.

Yelp
Thank you for always being open!!! On late hours after a flight, concert, show, movie, happy hour or just being hungry around the area, this place is a good stop before heading home. Comforting filipino food always. Kare Kare good although I would love it more with tripe Kaldereta was also good Sisig ok in taste but did not taste like sisig hahaha it's more like chopped pork barbecue Tocilog - this was surprisingly the worse tocilog I've had. It was ok I guess but the meat did not taste like tocino at all. It's like in between tocino and tapa. It wasn't as sweet as tocino should be and the texture felt like beef tapa but thicker. The fried rice and egg was good though Service is always good! Ambait ni ate! Halo Halo and Turon - I didn't get to taste them but seemed good since there weren't any leftovers

Yelp
This used to be a cool place to eat.The food was great. The food is noticeably different. It was more more special before and not so common. The prices were great. The service is still great . Thanks to the Pilipino and Kapampangan hospitality. It can get loud sometimes especially when there is a party.

Yelp
this place is inside Lucky Chances cafe and it is a time capsule of such a homey, 90s diner vibe all from the upholstery on the bar seats, carpet design, music, to the tita's' serving uniforms. this was my first time at cafe colma and it definitely won't be my last - we went in and i saw a mix of both older, younger, and family crowds so i knew this place was a SPOT. as soon as we walked in a server spotted us halfway across the dining area and waved us over to be sat in a 2-person booth immediately. She tossed the menus down at us without saying hi back to me, but honestly couldn't even be mad i was excited to have real filipino food for the first time in a while. we got the bangusilog (milk fish) and tapsilog and just under 8 minutes later the food came out. i devoured the shit in like half that time and my tummy kinda hurt still ngl. but ts was sooo good we even got dessert at the end. he got turon with ube ice cream and i got ginataang bilo bilo (think of a warm dessert stew of tapioca pearls, glutinous rice balls, langka, and taro bits suspended in a condensed milk-like stew...but it's not that sweet!!). i couldn't finish my ginataang but the 2 pieces of turon that nate got were about damn near as long as my forearm. unfortunately they have him the wrong flavor ice cream (mango instead of ube) but he didn't care and it was still good all the same definitely coming back with a group next time

Yelp
Friendly, fast and attentive service, delicious Filipino, American and Chinese food, clean and home-feel atmosphere. Food seems over-priced but you will get a huge portion matched with great-tasting food. Will definitely come back to try more dishes.

Yelp
I am here right now. I called the main line: operator says cafe is closed 5am-6am. And I complained that I was just there and they said they were closed and she just directs me to the café. And no one picks up. It is 418am. And I walk in and the workers say they are closed. Excuse me?!

Yelp
As many times as I've "checked in", I can't believe I've never left a review. lol We've had several different dishes here, but always tend to order off the Filipino menu. Since we came on a Sunday, it was quite busy and we waited about 15 min for a table. The most recent lunch we ordered kare kare, sisig bangus, lechon kawali & the comsilog (pork chop & tapa). Everything was delicious! Our server was very attentive, always checking on us and refilling our glasses of water. We will be returning soon!

Yelp
This spot is a reliable Daly City staple. I love the food here! We always get sinigang and karekare after late night events. Service really depends on the day. Our table didn't have the best service experience this time around, but we know it's super hit or miss.

Yelp
Love the old-school vibe of this place. Lots of cuisines and various dishes on the menu. I go for the yummy, unpretentious Filipino food. The bagoong that goes with the tortang talong is so deliciously savory. Fast service and open 24 hours. Yes, this place is an institution. Go visit!

Yelp
My family, friends, and I have been coming to Lucky Chances for Cafe Colma for over two decades. Cafe Colma offers classic American breakfast, Filipino, chinese food, and daily specials that make you want to order more than one thing .Went back for this first time in a real long time, because I was craving some real deal Filipino breakfast silogs! For those that don't know, silogs are basically a protein, plus garlic rice and eggs. They have a bunch of protein options, so I typically opt for the comsilog, which is a combo of two different proteins. My recent visit, I went with the corned beef and longanisa sausage. There's just something about Filipino corned beef that just hits the spot everytime. It was flavorful and so delicious. The longanisa was ok, a little overcooked, but still tasty. It comes with a side of dipping vinegar and it's perfect to dip or pour over your meal. For the comsilog ($19.95) + tax + tip, it came out to just under $25. I remember back in the day it used to be $12.95, those were the days lol. Unfortunately those prices just aren't realistic like they were back in the early 2000s, and I've just come to accept that. While it is more expensive, I chalk it up to a sign of the times, and it won't stop me from coming back. While they aren't 24 hours anymore, they are still open til 4am everyday. If you are looking for a quality meal, for some post night out eating, this is still a solid place to go to. Skip the fast food, and get you some corned beef silog!

Yelp
Everything in the menu is delicious. Never had a bad experience here in 15+ years Service is always prompt & friendly no matter if it's busy or slow. Nothing fancy here, it's clean, it's not quiet, it's a casino is Colma, not Vegas. I definitely recommend I definitely come back always.

Yelp
Went for Midnight Meal Food - 5/5. Kare-kare had a rich sauce that tasted like it was allowed to sit and intensify its flavor for eons which was showcased by the strong colors in the oil. Meats were mostly tender except some parts were chewy near the bone. Its temperature ranged from warmer to lukewarm; I would have enjoyed it more if everything was hot. Rice was fluffy and warm. Spam was deep fried resulting in a very crunchy skin with juicy meat. Eggs were fried well and the sinangag was aromatic. Sinangag was a bit on the oily side, but this was nothing some vinegar couldn't fix. Turon was fantastic! It was glazed with sugar and the extra wrapper added a lot of crunch. Filling was not too sweet and creamy while the ube ice cream added more richness. Service - 4/5. It is very busy even late into the night but service was timely and always available. Value - 5/5. Prices are on the higher side for Filipino cuisine with silogs being $17 or higher and entrees being in the high 10s to low 20s range. However, given that they offer delicious, hot, classic Filipino food at 3:00 AM, it is a great deal. Portion sizes are good and especially satisfying in the midnight hours. Parking - Private Lot (Free)

Yelp
I'm just here for the prime rib! I haven't tried anything else they have. I go to HOPR if I want the full feast of prime rib plus a bunch of awesome sides, but on days when I just want something simple and more wallet-friendly, I get my prime rib here. $38 w/tax for a generous chunk of meat is a great deal around SF in my book, and about half the price of HOPR's King Cut last I checked. The prime rib is perfectly done, tender and juicy, and perfectly fatty. I order medium rare in case it's overdone, since I can always cook it a bit more at home. It comes with mashed potato, a side of basic veggies (I think canned), and generous portions of au jus and gravy. All around a delicious, decadent (if unhealthy) meal for me!

Yelp
I've been in the Bay Area my whole life and have always heard about cafe colma/ lucky chances but never got to going around here. Came here on a weeknight and it was still fairly busy. This place is definitely good for late night munchies after drinking or even after concerts since they're open 24 hrs! It's all Filipino food, so the portions are big and filling. We got the silog plates and the kare kare. The kare kare has a peanut sauce to it and is pretty heavy - so it goes good with the garlic rice they have. The marinate pork and longanisa sausages were good! The pork chop was a little dry , but crispy. The place can seat a good amount of people and its average restaurant noise. For sure a good place to have casual dinners and just get your fix of Filipino foods
google avatar

Arron P.

Yelp
Came here for a late night dinner. The wait wasn't too long. The service was quick and straightforward. The food was served in a timely manner and delicious. The price is a bit on the higher side for plates in my opinion. The ambiance is very casual with the casino just outside. Would come back again.

Yelp
This is still hands down the best kare-kare in town! The Filipino breakfast items are always good. I don't eat anything here but Filipino food, so I can't say anything about the other items on the menu. They do have an extensive menu! American, Italian, Chinese and breakfast items. The prices have gotten expensive but still reasonable. The service is always prompt. The diner vibe is on point considering where it is located, inside Lucky Chances Casino.

Yelp
I always love Cafe Colma! I have been coming here with my best friend for years, she has recommended this place to me and it has become my go to for Chinese and Filipino eats. We normally get seated quick, and our waiter/waitress will give us glasses of ice cold water (my favorite lol). Other families dine here, it can be full/packed depending on the day but I always have good luck. There was one day where we knew it would be so busy inside, because we could not find parking for the longest; there is one lot to find parking in, so this was nerve wracking lol. Our food was ready within 15 minutes. I normally get longanisa, and this time I took my partner with me so they could try it! They ordered the pork fried rice; I tasted some and it was super yummy. I will always be back here!!!!!
google avatar

Katelyn R.

Yelp
Great late night Filipino food, my 2am nilaga was a hit. Double backed two days later before I had to fly back home and the bulalo was good. Arroz caldo was good as well but it is definitely on the super thick side. The toppings were bomb next time I'll get extra chicharon. The boiled egg it comes with is all sliced up and I also ordered extra lemon to top it off. Service is fairly quick and the ladies working here are so sweet. It gives like an older diner vibe and it's very clean in there too.
google avatar

Matt P.

Yelp
Comfy little 24 hour diner attached to the casino. Stick to the Filipino dishes and you'll be happy, but drift to other parts of the menu at your own risk. My wife and I come here relatively often, since there's not a ton of other "diner" options in Daly City.

Yelp
Lucky Chances is a casino that also has a restaurant (Cafe Colma) that is super convenient since it is open 24/7. After picking up my parents from the airport, we were looking for a sit down restaurant that was open late night. Everything was pretty much closed, so we decided to go to Lucky Chances. Personally, every time that I am here I always go with my safe choice and get a longsilog, and it is always super good. This past time that I went, I ended up getting the tapsilog, which is tapa, or marinated beef, two eggs, with garlic rice and a side of vinegar. The garlic rice, vinegar, and eggs were super good as always. But when it came to the tapa, it wasn't that flavorful, which kind of made my experience kind of mid. I definitely would not get the tapsilog again, probably just stick to my usual longsilog. My mom got the shrimp fried rice, and that was probably worse than the tapsilog. It was barely seasoned! I would stray away from that if you are considering getting that. I am for sure coming back here, but probably never going to get the tapsilog again. I would definitely rate this place a 4/5, but from my most recent experience, it's unfortunately getting a mid 3/5.

Will T.

Yelp
This is the restaurant attached to the casino. I ordered the prime rib. Don't expect the House on Prime Rib quality or quantity, but the price is right. I asked for medium rare and indeed it was cooked appropriately. I thought it was a good deal.

Yelp
We used to come here before and I remember enjoying their Filipino food. We decided to come here since we're in Daly City. I was disappointed with the food I ordered. I had their bansilog. It came with fried rice, eggs, and milkfish. The fish portion is small and the rice is a bit cold. As for the price of the meal, I thought that it was a bit expensive and the meal is not huge. I was expecting more and the meal to be warm. I did not enjoy a meal and wasted my time going to this place. It will take me a while to come back here again.

J.R. S.

Yelp
What happened cafe colma? I guess prices surge and what was once a hint of quality is long gone. The loganisa is so sad why even ask for a la carte when you only get two pieces for $9.75? And it's obviously deep fried to a tee. (See pic) What was once a good broth of Sinigang is a just a mess. Vegetables used to be in a *separate* container and is now together in a single container with barely any soup. All in a single container for $20 bucks? Same with the Kare kare. So sad to be Filipino. Porto's is a great restaurant and we should take note on that business model.

Yelp
Came here after a birthday event in the City and we had a group of 7. Name was "called" or so they say bcus we never heard them call out the name we put down, so they moved on to the next big party. We then had to put our name down AGAIN and wait about an hour for a table. Food - no complaints here. Food always hits! Just sad they didn't tell us that they were out of sisig and mango juice until we were almost done eating. The one negative thing was Nilagang took FOREVER to get to the table. I had to remind a server about it. Server - not attentive, could have been better. As we were paying the bill, I put down "CASH" on the tip line on the receipt bcus we were gonna give a cash tip. The server came and rudely was like "gratuity is not included" and points at the section of the receipt that shows you how much 15% - 20% tip is and the total it'd be. I was annoyed and honestly didn't wanna tip her anymore after that comment. I told her "IF YOU CAN SEE THERE *POINTS AT TIP LINE* I WAS GOING TO GIVE YOU CASH". Pretty sure she felt embarrassed bcus she ended up awkwardly backing up and walking the other way, not even a sorry for jumping the gun on her tip.

Yelp
THE YUMMIEST Filipino food whenever you want! Seriously. This place has some of the best beef kaldereta I've ever had and im always down for a comsilog (combo) of tocino and Bangus! I've brought my whole family to enjoy some Filipino dishes too and we have to say it's definitely a favorite. The service can be a hit or miss depending on how busy it is, but for the handful of times we've gone, the service has been good! Parking can sometimes be a bit hard to find outside of the parking garage. Also, the casino doesn't wreak of smoke either so it's cool to bring your family for a nice get together.

Yelp
First time coming to Cafe Colma located in the Lucky Chances Casino. The parking is a bit tight in the back. The cafe serves Filipino and Chinese food, and I was wondering how the food can be decent. They have both Filipino and Chinese chefs working. They serve Filipino, Chinese, and American food. Although not the best presentation of their dishes, it is understandable that it is a cafe and the food was better than average. The wonton noodle soup had nice size wontons and the right amount of noodles which was not soggy. My daughter liked the chicken adobo, and I enjoyed the tosilog with the garlic fried rice and sunny side up eggs. The customer service, by Karen, was excellent. She was extremely attentive and checked on us often! Every staff was professional and courteous and answered any questions. The food came out quickly as well.

Yelp
A lot has changed. Its never been the same. first food prices were significantly high with serving size of food getting smaller. The taste and quality of food is not the same anymore. Additionally, they dont allow you to split payments anymore even for just 2 cards. Ridiculous! Never again to this place.

Yelp
Gone here plenty of times for years but the last couple times has been disappointing. Not sure if it new chefs but the food wasn't late night satisfying as it used to be. Besides being out of tapa and pork chops, we weren't happy at all. The order of goto tasted sour. The bangus was just dry. The Filipino spaghetti didn't look appealing. The sinigang was barely touched. The service is not consistent. It's either good or bad. Just sucks that we couldn't enjoy what we were looking forward to.

Yelp
This place is great for Filipino comfort food. Whenever I come here, I always get the goto. You can't go wrong with any of their silog combos. The kaldareta was also very good -- tastes authentic and the beef was so tender. The sisig was our favorite!! Definitely going to be getting the sisig every time we come back here. Very casual and the food comes out so fast. The servers here are always kind. The food quality is always consistent and great! Pricing is also reasonable. A Bay Area gem!

Yelp
Great place for late night as not too many choices now. Decent food on the pricey side but nowadays you're just lucky to find a place open past 10pm. Selection is good and can get a little crowded at times.

Yelp
Service is always great here. The tita's are very nice and tentative. Never had an issue coming here. Perfect spot to go to on the late night. This is inside lucky chances

Yelp
I like this spot because it's open late, it's inside of a casino but it's overpriced. My longanisa with rice and eggs was $17.99 for a basic sized entree. I think I would only come here if I was craving filipino food late at night because it's the only thing open. The service was kinda slow and I noticed the mood of the servers were very apathetic. I think I came around 1am on a Tuesday and it was pretty slow. The food was good but I think the price and service is what would keep me from coming here.

Yelp
Once you're past the casino/lobby area, Cafe Colma feels like a typical American diner, which also serves solid Filipino breakfasts, among other classic Filipino and Chinese dishes. This review is for the Filipino breakfast dishes we chose. We visited at 8am on a recent Saturday - nice and quiet, not busy, and got to choose our table. After being seated, our friendly and efficient server took our drink order and continued to set our table with water, menus, and utensils. Coffees served, our food order was in next. As our server made her way to the kitchen, I heard her (in Tagalog) ask the cooks if there was any eggplant. Thankfully there was because I was really looking forward to having my usual - the tortang talong (grilled eggplant omelet) - with a side of garlic fried rice. I'm not a vegetarian but this dish is savory and satisfying without any meat. Served with some banana ketchup, and I'm good to go! Eric had a comsilog (combo of two meats - he chose longanisa and tocino - two eggs any style, and garlic fried rice), which they also serve with a tangy vinegar/pepper sauce to cut through the rich meats. Really, anytime of day is a good time for Filipino breakfast and Cafe Colma serves up pretty good ones.

Yelp
Kare Kare was the last dish my mom made us before she got really sick and passed away in 2020. It's my favorite dish. She had promised to show me how to make it when she got better. It took me almost a year to master her recipe on my own, and until today to finally find a restaurant that makes Kare Kare that tastes just like Mom's. It hits differently when someone makes a dish you love for you opposed to making it yourself. I had heard about a restaurant inside of the Lucky Chances Casino that had the best Kare Kare, and after almost 4 years of searching for the perfect Kare Kare, I think I finally found it at Cafe Colma. I'm a little upset that we didn't realize it sooner that Lucky Chances is located just a block from Olivet, where my in-laws niche is. We could have been eating this delicious Kare Kare a lot sooner had we known. Cafe Colma also boost a variety of chinese food, diner staples and of course, filipino favorites. We will definitely be coming back to try it all. I'm thinking next weekend.

Yelp
I'm from SoCal and NorCal does not have any good tacos shops or anything good open 24 hours.. until I found this place. I hate casinos but I love this Cafe. It's unique, has American, Chinese, and Filipino dishes on the menu and it's tasty. I like how it's a cafe with huge TVs playing sports, and old SF photography randomly hanging from the wall. There's always a crowd and it has this nostalgic 1950s Asian diner vibe like a scene from Grease (if Grease had Filipinos). It has a little bit of everything thrown into one place that is open day and night. What more can you ask for? and look - the service isn't great, yes you gotta wait, yes the waitress has attitudes, but that just adds to the beauty and character of this place when you're hungry at 2 am in the morning and want to hang out with your friends for just a little bit longer. Enjoy the moment here. It's fun. Also if anyone out there reading this knows of a good 24-hour spot please send it my way! As for the food, if you like fish get the Bangus. It's my favorite.

Yelp
Great Filipino dishes and others as well. I've been to Cafe Colma a number of times and the food never disappoints. Service may be spotty at times when things are busy, but just be aware of this and don't be afraid to flag someone down if you need anything, the staff is always help

Yelp
I'm so excited they have bangus sisig! It's my favorite dish ever and it was so good! Service was good. It's a little loud but expected for a casino. My bf got tocilog which he really liked too. Def coming back

Yelp
Halo-halo is good! Lots of toppings and decent amount of ube ice cream. Preparation was quick for 6 orders. Ready in 10 minutes.

Yelp
I was in the area craving Filipino food and found this place on Yelp. Bansilog combo $22 (2.5) - milkfish, marinated beef with garlic rice and two sunnyside up eggs. The beef did not taste fresh. It was chewy and tasted like leftovers that was just microwaved. The milkfish was okay, it wasn't soft and tasted like it was in the freezer and popped it in an oven. The garlic rice was good. The eggs was the only thing that was freshly made. Hennessy VSOP $12 - There's no price on the menu for drinks so you have to ask. The menu shows different types of Hennessy so we asked how much for the Hennessy VSOP. The server kept saying there's no VSOP and only one Hennessy available for $10. I tried to tell her there's different types of Hennessy on the menu and she kept insisting there's only one type. She was very persistent that they didn't have VSOP so I said okay I'll take it. She comes back and tells us it's $12 because it's VSOP. I told her that's what I initially asked for but she said they didn't have it. Instead of going back and forth with her because she seemed to be uneducated on Hennessy so I told her I didn't want it anymore. Few minutes later, a different server comes over and gives us a shot of Hennessy and I told him I did not order that. The original server comes back and said she already put in the order so the Hennessy shot is ours. Not cool to put in the order and then change the price and still key it in. When the food came, the server offered us hot sauce and ketchup. It never came. Initially I was going to give this establishment 3 stars but as I'm writing the review, the Hennessy situation reminded me how unprofessional that was. There's better Filipino food out there, just not this place.

Yelp
Pork Sinigang: Plenty of pork rib meat. Soup was not hot. Only room temperature soup. We thought that was weird but it still tasted good Calamari: Excellent. Big portions. And it was fresh from the frier Service was terrible. We asked for iced tea which never showed up. We never got our ice water refilled. The waitresses were not friendly and very robotic in nature. We waited forever to get to go containers. We waited forever to get our check. Nobody came by to see if we needed anything. The restaurant was only half full and not very busy. Don't get mad that I didn't leave a tip, lol
